Ill post my 2 cents for what its worth (probably a max 2 cents) but I've absolutely Loved ABB since moving from Telstra ADSL. we purchased the 100 plan, and usually during peaks youll dip to around high 80s low 90s down, but still pretty much expected uploads (50). We just use their Router and it does the job, i DO plan on at some stage changing to an 86U or the like, but thats purely for "i feel like it" reasons. if what you do consists of watching netflix or going onto other shady sites, this router is fine. as with all routers, if you have All brick walls in your house, dont expect much.

Also their Local support is a godsend. sorry if this is borderline racist, but knowing that the phone will be picked up by an "andrew in morwell" rather than someone from the Philippines.

You do pay extra. an odd $5/month extra or something the like. and even though their Customer Reps are great, ive probably used them once, and it was because there was an NBN outage earlier into the rollout that i wasnt aware of because i hadnt checked my spam box for ABB EMails.

As mentioned above, their CGNat issues do stem to Consoles, but less-so with PCs and regular day-to-day emails and browsing.

Happy to answer questions about them.

As someone who was with ABB and then switched to another provider for a good deal, don't do what I did.

Stay with ABB, for the love of jebus.

  • This maybe a question for ABB support but if anyone here knows, please help.

I'm on Telstra NBN HFC and using the NBN cable modem along with the Telstra Wi-Fi router with their backup 4G. If I were to move over to ABB, will I be able to use the modem + router provided by Telstra or would I need to buy separate?

    • +1

Yeah you can use it for internet on ABB.

Telstra do lock the phone port.

    • +1

I can confirm it all works.

From Telstra HFC to Superloop NBN HFC (Would be the same for ABB)

      • Free NBN branded HFC Modem
      • Telstra Wifi router still works: No config change needed.
      • Thanks. Don't Telstra ask for their router back? Also, what about the backup 4G sim in it? Does it continue working if the cable connection goes down?

        • +1

No you keep the router. Telstra charge you for the router if you leave within 24 months. Yeah 4G continues to work.

      • Currently on Telstra HFC and my area showing NBN FTTC available on April 2020, will the TELSTRA SMART MODEM GEN 2 works on ABB NBN FTTC?

        • +1

If Smart Modem is a Router, then yes it will work

        • Yeah Telstra smart modem works on ABB NBN FTTC.

  • How long are people waiting between sign-up and connection at the moment? They still need to send someone out to test the line so am wondering if it's at least 3-4 weeks.

    • Mine took like a day flat.

    • 30 days when I signed up last month. Due to COVID nbn technicians are harder to schedule - out of ABB control.

      Edit: NSW

      • What technology are you on? Ie what does the NBN technician require to do at yours?

I'm waiting for installation apparently - but being FTTC I wonder if there's anything for an NBN technician to do cause it's just the NBN box inside the house right? And that's a box that you can connect up yourself isn't it?

        • +1

FTTC is either a self install or NBN appointment. NBN decides this. Yep NBN install a box inside called the NCD and NBN need to find your copper wiring and hook it up to the DPU outside.

  • I am on Telstra phone line and TPG standalone ADSL2, will it be a PAIN to go ABB in this current situation and keep my line number? Don't want to lose internet becoz of the switch and do I need to cancel from Telstra and TPG for my phone and ADSL services?

    • People on whirlpool say to sign up and connect to NBN first, then cancel so you avoid not having service at any point.

Just keep in mind TPG have a 30 day notice of cancellation. I tried to cancel mine but they keep insising someone has to call me first before they make any changes. Too bad because I've cancelled my direct debit.

  • Just pre-ordered. NBN comes out on 24 april :) Excited

  • Blaady eel.

A few hours ago I was with Dodo. Saw this deal and checked my bill - blaady eel. I was paying $85 a month for 50/* connection!

Switched to ABB, $89 for 100/* connection.

After sorting out all details (sign up etc), it took about 30 minutes for the connection to activate. Once Dodo was out, I just had to reconfigure/ restart the modem (HUAWEI HG659) and approx 1 hour later, I am on ABB.

    So far, awesome.

    Me.HappinessLevel = Int64.MaxValue;

I am absolutely baffled by the level of integrations they have!

    • +1

Thanks so much for the feedback!

Enjoy your new connection and stay well.

      Cheers, Nicole

  • Optus nbn has 3 months free on any plan for new and existing customers on cable or adsl.

    • Have you got a link for that, mate? Cant see any mention of it on their site.

  • Sorry if someone has asked this already but how long is it taking for people to get the NBN setup given the virus? And is it possible to order now and schedule a set up in advance (say a month)?

    • +1

Setup time varies on if your allowed to self install or NBN need to come complete the installation.

ABB accept orders in advance. I think up to 3 months away.

  • What's the best wireless router to get with a FTTC plan around $150 to $200?

I assume you can buy something better than the one offered by ABB?

    • If your going to buy from ABB the Google Nest wifi router is the one to get and not the Netcomm router.

Some more router recommendations between $150-200.

TP-Link Deco E4 AC1200 Whole Home Mesh WiFi System $149 @ Catch and Centrecom.
      TP-Link Deco M5 AC1300 Whole Home Mesh WiFi Router 2 Pack $186 @ Amazon.
ASUS RT-AC68U $199 @ Amazon and Bing Lee.

  • I keep getting “invalid promo code”? Has the deal expired?

    • Maybe it's for 100/20 and not 100/40?

    • Hi there,

It should work on either the 100/20 or 100/40 plans.

Have you been a customer with us in the past 6 months?

      Cheers, Nicole

      • I've tried on the 100/40 plan and it won't work. is it possible someone at this address has been a customer in the past 6 months?

        • +1

This can sometimes be the case unfortunately. If you've moved in during the past 6 months and aren't having any luck with the promo, I recommend giving our Sales team a buzz on 1300 880 905 and explaining the situation. They should be able to help you out with this one.

If you have any dramas, please don't hesitate to send us a private message.

          Cheers, Nicole

  • I just signed up recently on the 50/20 plan. NBN Tech meant to be around tomorrow to install 01/04. Can aussb confirm if I'm able to upgrade to this plan to get the first month free.

    • Hi there,
Unfortunately you won't be able to upgrade and get the first month free.

      Cheers, Nicole

  • Does anyone know when this offer expires? I can't seem to find the terms on their site.

  • Has all the offers expired with this code and the FIVESTAR? Tried both codes and none working…

  • This promo code is still active !

  • Promo code worked for me just then.

  • This is still active. From their Facebook page.

*Promotion available for new customers only. Service not available at all premises. This offer is only available until June 30, 2020. For full terms and conditions see aussiebroadband.com.au

  • Thanks for this deal - I signed my family up on this, but eventually should really settle on 50/20.
Am I able to change to the lower speed without losing the discount on the first month?
    Thanks.

  • Code not working

  • Signed up last night. Still works. But not over phone but only via website.
