Beware of their 30 day cancellation. They leave the connection active for the 30 days, so if somebody moves in after you they get to enjoy some free internet.

    • +4

100% make sure you cancel 30 days before end of 6 month period

    • That’s handy to know. I’ve added in the post. Thanks!

    • +5

Yep, cancel at 5 months. I transferred to pronto and called SuperLoop to cancel. They said they know I've switched and will cancel next month. Asked y, they said 30 day notice cancellation. I've learnt for next time will do this with All the carriers I port in/out in future

    • I’m confused, I know they have this crappy no pro rata policy, but you have to give them 30 days notice to port out now? Or are you guys just talking about shutting off ur nbn connection altogether?

      • +5

Cancelling, I was moving house and was coming up on 6 months so figured I'd start with a new supplier at the new house. Called to cancel and the muppet at Superloop told me to ask the next tenants to not use that connection when they move in at my old address.

        • +2

Thats amazing. You should say something about liability or something, if what you are saying is correct, there would be an active internet connection on that port, and as there is no authentication, why would the next tennants not use a free connection?

Maybe there is something missing here. But funny stuff.

          • +2

@Crownanchor: Exactly my problem. I was livid with the morons I spoke to there. Just absolutely brain dead people.

            • +8

@itsehsteve: You maybe able to go to the TIO and complain about the 30 days, someone on Ozbargain mentioned this in the past and the 30 day notice was not required and the charges were reversed.

The TIO is good for resolving issues. like this when the RSP is not responsive.

I hope the 30 day notice is able to be made illegal, its so stupid, and TIO complaints maybe a way to get this BS stopped.

              • +2

@Crownanchor: Thanks for the reminder, I've been busy with the move and forgot about the TIO so raised it now.

        • Hardly surprising if you have ever dealt with their customer support.

      • Have to give 30 days before you port as they keep the service active even if switch

    • +11

Superloop is not the only one who has this 30 day cancellation BS. I think Exetel has it as well.

It's bloody ridiculous that you can churn energy, mobile phone, even mortgages easily with the providers doing all the work for you and not having to worry about any billing overlaps yet somehow internet RSPs are allowed to make their customers jump through BS hoops like this to transfer.

      • +10

Superloop and exetel are the same comoany now so they both have 30 days.

TPG and all the brands they own also has 30 days. So quite a few RSPs have 30 days now.

This 30 day BS really should be looked into by the ACCC or whoever.

BTW the 30 days is BS as i was giving a 30 day notice to internode in December last year, and instead of typing january 2024, someone typed in January 2023 which was 11 months ago, and my internet was cancelled early.

        • Which brands/ISPs does TPG own?

          • +1

@BLAIL: Internode, iiNet, Westnet, Chariot, TPG, AAPT, Netspace

It appears Vodafone does not have the 30 days requirement.

    • +1

      Came to say this.
I hate this new 30 day notice BS.

    • Why can't you just cancel 30 days ahead, but switch to a new provider a couple of days before the cancellation is in effect?

That way only lose a day or two of what you paid for?

If 1000/50 the how are speeds like: 300/300, 500/500, 1Gb/1Gb and 10Gb/10Gb like they have in Spain: https://www.digimobil.es/fibra-optica/

    • +1

time for you to move to spain

  • Existing users can also sign this up? I remembered seeing some comments as an existing user you could sign up as a new user again for new price.

    • Interested to know about this as well. My 6 month on the previous pricing is ending in 15 days (forgot about the 30 day cancellation requirement).

      • +1

notify them you'll be cancelling in the end of next bill. (45 days ish)
and just sign up with exetel, they are the same company/backbone anyway.

        • Someone on whirlpool said if you're moving to Exetel, you can call and get a supervisor to waive the 30 day cancellation

      • Same. Well, I didn't forget, but was at work trying to call to cancel and the 45minute queue time wasn't suitable.

Then forgot to call back the next day while wfh. :(

Got another week before the next billing period so figuring out options now.

        Otherwise, they haven't been bad.

    • +1

Hey so I just spent some time with them on the phone - if you go into the Superloop app -> account -> manage -> change plan and change it to the same plan, you don’t get the 6 month reduced rate but you get the new rates

E.g I was on a plan from last year paying 108.9 per month for the nbn250, so I just selected the same plan and it reduces the monthly to 99 per month.

Not much but I’ll take it 😂

CBA customers: You may want to compare with prices from More.

    I pay $94.50 (after 30% discount) a month for 1000/40.

    Check CommBank Yello.

    • +1

Watch out for More is they shape your speed. I was with their 250/20 and would only get under 100 download. Contacted support and they will gaslight you to say it's your modem etc.
Switched over to Super loop with the exact same setup and getting the correct speed all the time.
Not sure how More can get away with such misleading and deceptive act

      • Ive been on more for about 3 months now with CBA deal, been getting a constant 800 on 1000 plan. Maybe it was their nbn CVC in you area?

      • +2

More use PPPoE which some older or low-powered routers can struggle with at higher speeds. I originally signed up for 1000/50 and the max I could download was consistently ~250-300Mbps, during peak or off-peak times. Checked my router and the poor CPU was maxed out. Switched it out and was immediately getting full speed.

      • 100/40 on More here. Get consistently slightly above those speeds.

        • thats not higher speed

  • This is a good deal, but looks the same as what was available in June.
I singed up for 250/25 recently.
Boost is fast. My best speedtest result was 942.92 Mbps download.
I'm still troubleshooting why my boosted upload speed stayed at 25 and didn't go up to 50.

Leaptel is offering Gigabit at $99/m for the first 12 months.

  • +1

Am on this deal, maybe just me but google says others too, my tp link deco mesh system has micro drop outs, superloop blame my setup but had no problems on multiple other isp’s, hence changing soon to check, will report back, have factory reset, switched nodes around etc

    • Any luck with the change of ISP?

      • Started behaving without doing anything else so staying for now, checking stats at bill time to be sure, ready to jump if any more trouble

  • +7

    Gee superloop are idiots.
I literally called up yesterday to disconnect because I wanted to upgrade to 1000/50 and the best they could do for me was $106 for 6 months.. but yet here we are a day later and offering it for $99 (for new subs).

I then just gave my 30 days notice and signed up for Leaptel $99 for 12 months.. see ya Superloop!

PSA - Superloop T&C's. Incredulous definition of 'any time' here:

    Cancelling Your Plan
You can cancel your Superloop nbn Home Broadband Service at
any time by giving Superloop 30 days' notice

  • Anyone know what the cancellation notice time is for Iprimus? looking to switch to the leaptel deal.

  • Called to relocate my service and the rep gave me the same deal as a new customer, worth asking!

  • +2

Went from Superloop 1000 to Leaptel 1000, and there is definitely a difference. Leaptel has higher speed and can maintain it, whereas Superloop was kind of all over the place. Superloop's cancellation policy however is rubbish.

    • Interestingly, I had the exact opposite experience

  • +1

    Also left Superloop for Leaptel.

  • +3

Thanks for the tips on Leaptel. Signed up for $89 per month (for first 12 months) for 1000/50 as part of the fibre upgrade offer (FTTC to FTTP). Happy chappy!

  • +1

Leaptel for $99 plan is still better at 12 months . Use referral from leaptel post

  • Any feedback or experience from WA metro users for Leaptel please?

  • anything for opticomm user?

    • +1

I was with Exetel via opticomm and work from home wasn't a pleasant experience (regular dropouts, thus unstable work vpn, conf calls with gaps, etc.), switched to Leaptel and it is stable.

      • Don't think there is many deals going with Leaptel for opticomm though. Always is higher priced than than the NBN deals.

  • After my 2 months for free on the totalbiz plan, im now on residential SL.
no dramas for once, no speed difference between the totalbiz and residential 1000/50 plan.
ill stick with it for 6 months, then move to leaptel

  • Optus? Flybuys makes it cheaper

  • +2

Superloop was used to be good before they were bought.

    • What do you mean, the offer by Aussie Broadband was rejected and did not progress.

  • Be very careful with this lot of you manage to get through to customer service you will be lucky plus trying to understand what they are saying it's a nightmare then after I cancelled it took them two months to cancel then tried to change me $300 and then get debt collectors to harass you even if you don't owe no money
I have had nothing but trouble with them.
Plus remember they own three other NBN internet companies in Australia.

  • Superpoop.

  • Signed up to Superloop today speeds are very good www.speedtest.net/my-result/d/669881119.png

  • If you are in a metro location and don’t mind worse ping, you could always go for TPG 5G for cheaper. I’m on their 100 down plan and regularly get closer to 220

  • is the Referrer or Referee or both get the discount?

  • Anyway to avoid the $100/$50 activation fee?

  • Currently waiting 24-48 hours for an auth issue. Avoid like the plague.

  • I hired the service less than a month ago and I already regret it. I can't even log into the portal.
The customer service is very poor. I informed that I couldn't log in, that I had already tried different browsers and changed the password. The response I received was that he can access it.
I waited a long time on chat. They take too long to respond between questions, and on top of that, the representative ended up sending me personal data belonging to someone else.
    Terrible!

  • For the 30 day cancellation notice can you do that via live chat/email or do you have to call?

  • Unless you need to not have CGNAT I think the buddy deal is better as the on going cost is lower.
