[QLD] Electricity Total Plan 16.1c FiT / 23.38 c/kWh Peak Usage / 88.11c Supply Charge / $70 CR Cashback @ Energy Australia

141

Living in South East Queensland, was getting 17c FiT and 4% off total bill with Origin, but they do not do that plan anymore. This is actually cheaper due to low supply charge. Got an email from Origin, saying my plan is running out and I should visit the energy made easy site to compare. They didn't even make the top 10 list. Asked Origin to match Energy Australia. No dice.

This was by far the best plan when using a spreadsheet. Surprised it didn't make the top of the list:

I suggest you enter usage with 4 bills to make it more accurate over the course of a year.

  • contract/FIT guarantee period?

    • Benefit period is 12 months but don't think it's a contract. Can break early if you wanted to. No costs.

  • I’m in Sydney, what plan is the cheapest for gas currently with energy Australia but discount ends this month

I recommend https://wattever.com.au/ for independent and impartial comparison of current electrical/gas plans.

  • Hi OP how did you get these rates? I tried playing around on site and couldn't get them? I also tried the government website but was didn't work with my bill from Powershop. Thanks

    • Same…in Vic and couldn't get anything like what the OP has posted…

    • Entered my postcode 4211 on the Energy Australia website.

As well as my NMI number.

      • Me too, unfortunately not same rates and seemed to always include gas.

        • Live chat was pretty helpful. Not sure if Energy Australia you can negotiate though.

You should prefix the title with [QLD]

    • what is your postcode I can tell you what the rates are for any provider if you want just use the tool on this link

      https://www.energymadeeasy.gov.au/

      • It gives you a good guide. However, a spreadsheet will give you more accurate costs, particularly with Solar. When I did the search the ones on the top of the list only had 8c FiT.

      • The promotional offer section didn't work for me. Says 15 offers available, then shows none. Good concept if/ when it works. As for example, I discovered the $480 bill credit offer from AGL on their website. I rang AGL on 2 occasions and both operators had never heard of their own plan.

There should be a unique identifier number for every plan listed on that gov website. Maybe just give them that?

  • edit: nevermind the comparison website is really good

If you live in Vic, check out Tango energy. Not sure about solar but otherwise they are usually the cheapest.

    • What about gas, do they do that?

      • Glo bird for gas IMO.

I am currently with Tango and thought exactly what you think then I compared on https://wattever.com.au as some one mentioned just earlier. Comparison with Amaysim come out $350 better than Tango, as they offer 20 cents rebate as compare to 12 cents with Tango.

Here come an another provider switch.

      • I wouldn't touch Amaysim even if you paid me…

Hi op, does the prices inc GST? I noticed elect providers often use non GST prices to sound better. Good rates though regardless. Also, just put in electricity into cashrewards to see all the bonus offers. Almost all in the $75 - $100 range.

Of note, simply energy offering $260 over 2 years and AGL $105+ Google mini over 12 months, or $480 over 24months if you have an EV. Both still have competitive rates, with slightly inflated day rates.

    • Yes it is GST inclusive. That was made clear during the live chat I did.

  • There was a clear winner on my spreadsheet too 6 months ago so I switched but before getting the first bill with the new provider they raised the price 31%.

So I've switched again to this mob.

  • Anyone know how it compares to agl 20c fit?

    • What are the other numbers? Supply charge is pretty amazing on this one.

For existing Solar panel owners, you cannot signup online and will have to go through Chat. Hence the Cashback will not be credited!!!!!!!
    Just confirmed with Chat

    • Wait … what? No Cash Rewards for this plan? Then shouldn't the title be changed or negged?

    • True. No Cashrewards on solar plan. But I got 12% off total bill clicking through Cashrewards

  • Damn, signed up last week! Didnt even consider cash rewards! Good deal though. Chaned from AGL after solar instal.

    • you didnt really miss out, check above.

    • I think most providers give 10 days cooling off period.

  • Sounds like i need to do some shopping around

  • In some areas AGL come in better when Feed in was higher since they give 20c feed in, compared to 16.1c
When Feed in is lower then this comes in better.

So if your Solar system is big and you have alot of Feed in, then AGL at 20c is still your best, if you have a smaller solar then this plan will be better

Comparing my last 5 quarter bills, example i got $380 in credit from solar in AGL, This plan would of been only $306
The usage was AGL ($273.87) compared to $228.33 if was i on this plan.

  • Thanks OP, I'm in the exact same situation in QLD.

Currently on the Origin Solar Boost plan with 17c FiT, 25c kWh usage and 124c supply, that runs out next month. At the moment we are generating close to 40kWh a day.
Now I'm being forced to look around for a new supplier as the replacement plan isn't that great; Origin Solar Optimiser is 15c FiT, 25c/kWh usage and 116c supply.

I'm tempted to sign up for this deal, but had a question if you can see your electricity generated through the app, similar to the origin app?

Can anyone confirm if you can view your feed in through the Energy Australia App?

    Thanks

    • +1

I have installed the app and can confirm that you cannot view feed-in through the app, nor can you view it from your online account. The bill seems to be the only place you can get that information.

  • Thanks, I've switched from the 'Secure Saver' plan. Slightly higher usage cost but significantly less supply charge and the same FIT. Slightly better off overall.

  • Is the cashback just for QLD customers or can NSW claim it too?
