Gumtree treadmill, under $100 or freebie (just keep looking) XDDDD.

Mine was $80 and still going strong 2 yrs after bought 2nd hand.

    • Came here to say the same things… always someone trying to offload one in near perfect condition

    • I am currently looking through gumtree but I don’t know how to tell if someone is lying or not about condition. Any tips to know it’ll last a while?

      • +1

unfortunately there isn't much tip… keep ur budget under 100 so you won't lose more than that if it doesn't last… and always test run it before buying it.

        • Will do hopefully I’m able to find something, if not I might consider this option but I’ll try gumtree first, thank you.

      • Missus got last years for about $350 think. Happy enough with it for that price (and yeh she still uses it, mainly when it's too cold and rainy outside) though not sure at this price. Guessing a few of these will end up reduced again too.

Otherwise, want to check the running area size, this one is 450mm wide, don't think you want it any narrower.
The motorised incline is good also, being able to change while running. Otherwise you need to get off to manually adjust.

Probably the main thing you can check is the condition of the mat. It came with a couple of bottles of silicon lube which you're supposed to use under the running mat, so I guess check under there for wear on the mat and where it contacts. Also the edges, if it was misaligned and rubbing against the edges you'd see wear there too.

    • I think the older one is also better quality. This looks like a different brand and more expensive.

    • They've added Bluetooth and an app to this one

Reviews aren't good: too many users say their exercise program is going nowhere.

    • What do you mean by exercise program?

      • +2

Their progress is at a standstill.

  • Does anyone know what 10 incline levels mean? Is it the same as 10% on gym treadmills?

    • Guessing it's increments of 1° as I'm seeing two specs quoted, 10 incline levels and up to 10°.
Missus got last years model which has 0, 4, 8, 12 and 15°.

      • Oh that’s a deal break for me usually I like incline walking around 12.5-14 and speed on 4-5km

Challenge excepted. See how much weight I can lose within the 60 day return period.

    • Does Aldi have a guaranteed 60 day return policy? I’m not too familiar with them, as I’ve just seen this on my local catalogue.

      • Yes they do, no questions asked. Literally they've never asked me even if I feel like I needed to make an execuse.

    • +2

so you're not going to do the challenge?

  • How’s Aldis warranty if anything goes bad with product?

    • Depends on the supplier, ALDI doesn't deal with warranties after 60 days. Some suppliers are good but I've experienced one that sent the wrong part 3 times (at least they sent a part, which i modified to fit)

  • This wouldn't be suitable for someone who has a long stride when running (eg a person 6' or taller).

There are minimums when it comes to track size one should look at. Also you're never going to get anything close to gym quality for this price, unless maybe if you buy used (which you should absolutely do).

That said if it fits your needs this is a great price for a new treadmill.

  • Do you need to wear shoes at home on your treadmill?

  • -4

Just go out and run, in fresh air!

    • -1

      This! And it's free!

    • +9

Not when it rains, or you have sleeping kids in the house you can't leave

      • This is the main reason!!

        • Not to mention women out running nowadays can get horrible things done to them and never to come back.
