Just bought this home surveillance DVR kit from eBay after searching for cheap deals. Seems really cheap for what you get. No idea on quality but should be ok for the price.

    • Wondering if it was a pricing error… $84.90 was the previous listing price

        My order got cancelled…
"We are very sorry to advise that the item that you purchased from us was found damaged during our regular stock take."!

I think it is a price error too.

Not worried - after reading some of the comments above I had buyers remorse.

    • Hundreds sold overnight.

$184 would be a reasonable price. But with all these fake "list prices" and claimed "save 70%", who can tell?

It is old stock. The 4-channel DVR is very basic, and who sells 1TB 3.5" drives any more?

    • Deal has now been re-posted at $129 without the 1TB HDD, but now includes loads of product info:

Who cares if it's BNC connection at that price

  • Order dispatched today. ETA Thursday. Hopefully worth my $75 after I used a free $10 voucher I had.

  • They are trying to cancel my order:

Thank you for your recent purchase and payment in this item.

We have reviewed your order, and unfortunately it appears that your post code is outside of the service area for our courier partner. As a result, we regret that we cannot supply the item to your address.

Regarding this case, we send this message for enquiring another available address for check if it can be delivered by our delivery partners.

If there is no other address could be provided, we would like to cancel your order and process a full refund back to you shortly and confirm with you once done. Do you find it acceptable?

We look forward to your reply.

    • Will they send to a parcel locker?

      • I don't know. I've just asked them to send to Melbourne CBD. Surely 3000 post code is within their service area!

        • Would think so since they are located in Melbourne… lol

They're trying to cancel mine too:

"We sincerely apologize to inform you that the security camera set is found damaged before dispatch and out of stock now, so we cannot dispatch your order. We are afraid that we can only cancel the order and offer you a full refund instead."

    • +1

      Ditto.

Does eBay require them to honour sales?

      googling …
Cancelling for this reason is against eBay terms.
If buyers complain, seller will get a defect. Enough defects, and their ebay account is in trouble.
Does this apply to big sellers though?

Do not accept a cancel. They can still refund you and not ship though.
If it was an "honest mistake", why are they now lying?

      • Didn't accept the cancel but they forcefully refunded me just like many others

        • The fact that they force it should count against them. But they are a very, very big seller, so may be immune.

      • THere are limited options when cancelling orders from ebay… there are like 4 i think. I had to do it last time and im glad the person didnt complain but i still got a neg/warning from ebay.

  • +1

They sent the same "damaged" email to me. What bs

We sincerely apologize to inform you that the security camera set is found damaged before dispatch and out of stock now, so we cannot dispatch your order. We are afraid that we can only cancel the order and offer you a full refund instead.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused on this case.

      Kathy's a bullshit artist

      • +1

Not really an artist as she lacks creativity, evident by the fact that she's using the same excuse for almost everyone.

    • +3

      I received the same msg.
I wouldnt mind if they were upfront and just said they were canceling due to a pricing error. Because of the bullshit, I will be giving neg feedback.

  • +1

Received the bullshit, and was forcefully refunded! I’ll be complaining to eBay, and hopefully the rest of you will do that too!

  • +5

Because of the dishonesty, I have for the first time phoned eBay to complain.
The lady said she could see lots of cancellations, and would pass it on to the investigations people.
They will get defects on their account.

The lady told me to leave negative feedback, but that does not seem possible now that the order has been cancelled!

If you dispute the cancellation, you will see they lodged an "unpaid item". Does this mean buyers get a strike?

    • +1

You can leave neg feedback after 7 days, if you go to My eBay > Account > Feedback

    • good on you! I should do the same

    • P.S. It was very easy to speak to a human as I am on the ebay+ free trial. Not sure how much difference it makes without that.

  • +5

They said "the item I purchased was found damaged during a regular Stocktake". Strange that they have the audacity to offer every excuse under the sun to all the customers and still have the item up for sale albeit at two times the price very dodgy seller. In hindsight this might be a good outcome as I was going to have to run the cables.

Everyone should request photos of all these damaged products…

  • Got the same email!

  • +2

Pricks scammed me. Took my money and sent me the version without the hard drive.

    • Buy a hard drive, and ask for a partial refund to that value.
Legally, you could sue them for it, so eBay may cooperate.

      • Yeah I'm going to ask for a partial refund. Will cost up the price of a separate NAS or DVR hard drive

        • +2

Honestly, any mechanical hard drive will do. Any of them should tolerate being spun for a few years.

          • @bargaino: Yeah, especially on such a low-demand 4-channel system.

    • Hi Julz,
Mine was sent in two packages.
I missed the courier and went to collect from nominated newsagent today. Having taken one box I got home and saw it said 2 of 2 so I went back and the hard drive was in a seperate package. Newsagent said it only appeared as one package on her system.
Hope this helps; for me this was a great find and early upvote, thanks!

      • Yep got my two packages and set it up. Happy with the purchase. Weird how it was sent separately and arrived the next day.

  • Recieved my order today! but it came without the 1TB hard drive! Gonna complain about this

    • +3

Ask for a partial refund of $72 based on the cost of a DVR hard drive such as this https://www.mwave.com.au/product/wd-wd10purz-1tb-purple-35-s…

      • Complained last night, today courier delivers part 2 of my order which is the hard drive. Yet to open and check if it works…

        • +1

You might've scored then. So they sent an order express because of your complaint?

          • @R3XNebular: Actually looking at the label and it says part 1 of 2 so almost giving them the benefit of doubt as it be unlikely to get it to me that quickly. It's a Toshiba DVR hard drive for use in China only according to the label…

            • @0 0 0:

it says part 1 of 2 so almost giving them the benefit of doubt

Isn't that definitive proof that they sent you both from the start?

              • @eug: Yep. Just odd that it was dispatched separately and no comms to indicate so

    • Update: just recieved part 2 of my delivery today, its a 1tb toshiba hard drive and works fine

  • "We are very sorry to advise that the item that you purchased from us was found damaged during our regular stock take."

Wow they sure damaged a lot of units during the stock take, clumsy warehouse workers!

    • +2

They must have dropped a whole 40' shipping container while unloading. What a shame.
