Looks like a typo in their T&C, all other references to the closing date are Friday 26th. The 16th of April was a Tuesday.

      • +1

That's only 6 days away that's pretty short for a credit card application close date

        Maybe its 2020

        • According to terms, offer has already been running 3 weeks. 2019 it is.

        • +1

only 3 business days left to be approved. might be too late.

      • +2

According to rep I spoke to, she says as long as you apply by 26th April it'll be ok. Take a screenshot of the offer just in case.

    • How can I make sure I'm approved before deadline?

  • +3

Definitely going to go for this, take the bonus points and dump it later on. It’s win win.

    • +3

But shopping from Myer is lose lose..

      • +4

I quite like Myer, but either way it’s free money (as long as you handle the credit card properly).

        • -2

Free money to spend at Myer only?

    • +3

Check out Woolies Platimum before apply this. Same issuer and better introductory offer.

      • +1

All I see is a $50 Woolworths voucher?

        • No, it is 20k points (W$100) with ongoing zero annual fee. The deal is posted here and I can vouch it is not targeted.

          • @Neoika: Sounds like the same introductory offer then, just different merchant.

            • @odysseus: No, Myer CC is 1st year annual fee waived only. Woolies has one time 10% off monthly offer. I am not sure about the points earning rate of Myer CC, which maybe better (or not).

              • +1

                @Neoika: No annual fee

                  @Ryk:

As a special offer, the Myer Credit Card has no annual fee.

                  No annual fee ever? But the OP title states;

No Annual Fee for First Year

                  • @S2: Yeah, OP got that part wrong based on the front page. It's not just first year. Though if you're applying for the long term you'd be advised to take a screenshot for the future.

          • @Neoika: 20K points is for everyone, but "ongoing zero annual fee" is targeted: standard is first year $0 only, $49 after that https://cards.woolworths.com.au/offers/rewards-exclusive.htm…

I still prefer this option with 10% off every month at Woolies.

Way too much effort for a paltry $100. At least go for the Citibank Platinum with 100k points, worth ~$500 when converted to gift cards, less $49 annual fee.

  • The issuer: Macquarie Bank Limited

    • Oh that counts 50% of the population out

I plan to stay clear of department store gift cards now/credit cards . Dangers of collapse is to possible now a days.

    • +3

Good plan to avoid gift cards. Credit cards though shouldn't have any impact if the underlying store chain goes out of business. The cards are issued by financial institutions (Macquarie Bank in this case) anyway so no risk to the consumer. Only possible risk here is if you don't spend the 10,000 bonus Myer points in time and miss out on redeeming them

Think we have run into dumb and dumber LOL .

Live in your cotton ball world worrying about businesses going bust while smart people are enjoying saving huge %'s .

Don't touch any cashbacks as well they might go bust as well .

BTW last time a biz went bust the company ToysRUs where I had a chance of getting caught they gave a grace period to spend the gift cards before they closed the doors .

I believe most smarter player stock what they are going to spend soon , also reducing risk .

As I said dumb and dumber :)

It's a legitimate concern. Plus, the $100 myer dollars are worth probably $60 because you're locked in their system and have to buy their overpriced items. Not much is of value from their store. Absolutely not worth the credit enquiry.

      • +4

I would normally get them to price match instead of paying their rrp.

  • +2

Final note if a biz goes bust and I'm finally caught with a gift card , I'm happy to write it off the 10 's of thousands of savings :)

  • Can't we just apply, spend the credit and cancel instantly ?

  • also: 0% balance transfer for 14 months from approval

Apply and be approved for the new Myer Credit Card by Friday 26 April 2019 to take advantage of this offer.

  • -1

$100 Myer gift card equivalent $50 cash. I would prefer $100 credit back to account.

  • Got rejected….ridiculous. I'm on triple figures and requested a $2000 limit

    • Yikes that's no good.. I wish they would give a rationale for credit card rejections

    • Same here - but if a joke

  • Just got my application approved now (applied on Apr 20).

  • Anybody got their points yet?

    • nope, nothing yet

      • +5

        Got mine now :-)

Edit: make sure to switch to online statements to avoid $2.50 paper fee

        • Thanks mate, just switched off $2.50 paper statements via the website (can't seem to do it in the app).

10000 points landed for me as well - just got to wait until July to get $100 rewards card to spend it!

          • +3

@fortyfour: Points arrived for me too now, thanks @Muncan for pointing out the paper fee charge, that one is hidden away isn't it!

            • @FatGPT: Got my points too, and thanks for the tip to turn off paper statements, that's a $30 annual saving!

              • @billy_bob: Hi guys, I activated the card and waiting for the points. How long did it take you? Did you have to contact the customer support? Thanks.

                • +2

@noskich: Mine was almost instant, once I activated the card, I went into the app to check points and the points updated.

                  • @billy_bob: Thanks, there are no points when I login on the website, I will need to chase them.

                  • @billy_bob: Do you need to apply for the Myer One rewards program in addition to the card to be able to obtain the points?

                    • @noskich: Just got them right now, thanks everyone!

                      • @noskich: So if I spend 100 dollars on the credit card, I can use these points to cover that purchase and put the balance back to zero? How do I do that? Thanks.

  • Just got it now. Do we have to do something to get the points or are they already in the account when we log in? How do we setup the login credentials? Thanks.
