  • Got a notification asking me to call them to confirm some info….Not sure what they want but fingers crossed on monday

  • +1

just want to share, i think we need to register to get the qantas passes
    https://loungepass.stgeorge.com.au/

people who already got the passes (electronic or physical?), correct me if wrong? thanks.

    • All electronic, then you link them to your trip or gift them to someone they are usually valid around 12months.

      • thanks. i was more worried some people dont know they have to register first to get passes instead of given out automatically

  • My phone status kept saying 'still processing… we're a little behind etc' for a week. But when I called today they said it was approved last week and they've sent it to my home address. I have received no email but we'll see. I shouldn't be surprised really with St George. I don't even know what criterea they use to send it to a branch vs home. Last time it was a branch for me which turned into another drama so I'm happy if it's true.

By the way, since I have received no email, can someone please confirm if the 'approved' email contains any necessary info like account number? If not, I wouldn't worry about chasing it up.

    • Mine got approved within two days. Applied last Tuesday and by Thursday 6pm I've got an email saying my application has been approved. Received my card on Monday at my postal address.

  • When I clicked submit on the online application, it came up with something saying I am approved for $0 and asked if I want to continue, so I clicked no…. I meet all the criteria, only possible thing I can think of is only been working for 1 year and was a student before that so didn't out down any previous job… Anyone have ideas?

Also, is the minimum income on these things normally before tax or after everything? I have HECS and salary sacrifice coming out of my pay

  • Could anyone explain how the 2x complementary Qantas Lounge passes work with this card? When i request them am i forced to link it to my account? Or can i transfer them to another QFF account at a later date even after cancelling the card?

    • +1
      1. Amplify Rewards and Amplify Qantas are separate rewards programs that each offer airport lounge passes. Cardholders are only eligible for lounge passes offered for their selected rewards program and conditions apply. Lounge passes are subject to expiry. Priority Pass is offered to Amplify Rewards Cardholders, who must enrol via amplify.stgeorge.com.au. For full details visit prioritypass.com/Conditions-of-use.cfm. Qantas Club Lounge Invitations is offered to Qantas Rewards Cardholders who must enrol via amplify.stgeorge.com.au. Access and use is subject to Qantas Club Rules. For full terms and conditions visit qantas.com/qantasclub and some exclusions apply.

You link them to you account, then they should show on this website https://www.qantas.com/au/en/frequent-flyer/the-qantas-club/… and from there you can transfer them to whoever you want, they have an expiry date, even if you don't have the card anymore they will still be there

      • +1

Thanks, I am planning on cancelling the card as soon as I get my bonus points but obviously wanted to get the lounge passes before doing so. I guess I can sell these ones too if I can xfer them later

  • in the application process.. are people selecting amplify rewards or amplify qantas option? . im assuming the amplify qantas option.

also how are people reducing the credit limit? the application process requires minimum $15k

    • +1

Well if you want Qantas then select Qantas? So obvious.
Later after you get the card, setup internet banking access then from there there is option to reduce.

      • thanks, i wasn't expecting a choice for amplify rewards vs amplify Qantas option at the time. i know understand they are two different reward systems

      • +1

Not true - At least not true for me. When I tried to reduce my limit online I got a message saying that's " 15K is the lowest allowable limit"

        • Same

          • @jakxon: but i can. now mine is $5,000. weird.

            • @CyberMurning: Weird indeed, we were able to do once we had the card I think I did one on on the website and the other one on the app.

        • you have to do it in the app - worked for me

          • @[Deactivated]: I did try to do it on the app… and it says…"This card is already set to the minimum allowable limit."

            • @jakxon: no idea then - mine was 16800 limit as set by them, then I read on here you can reduce it via the app and it worked for me. Currently its $2000

          • @[Deactivated]: hmm i think i have done it via laptop, website. few days ago cant remember

        • Can't reduce my credit limit in either the app or the website. Pretty strange…

          • @j4ck: Yea 15k is the min. Not sure how some others have allegedly done it. Maybe different card or tech glitch

            • @gimme: Weird just checked again on the app and I can do it.
I took screenshots I ll attach them once I'm back on the laptop

              • @Gooddeal21: Weird. You have the signature right? Nothing should surprise me with STG. Probably a tick box ar the backend that gets overlooked by some staff.

  • My husband applied and was conditionally approved on Sunday. Yesterday he text to check on progress and he got a message saying he was unsuccessful. Called up now and was told because he did not have 6 months history with St George he didn’t get it. Seems very strange.

    • +2

I had no history with them at all and my application was still approved.

  • Approved

  • In the paperwork I received it says:

Initial annual card fee - will be debited 12 months from the date of the statement following the date we debited your first cash advance, credit purchase or balance transfer transaction of the account. The fee will be charged to your account every subsequent year, on or after the anniversary of your first annual card fee.

Total fees and charges which are definitely payable - $279.

So that's basically saying I will only be charged the first annual fee after 12 months of owning the card, right? The word "definitely" is the one that worries me. Like can they claim the annual fee later on even if I close the account before the 12th month?

    • That's wrong. I went in branch and saw there was no annual fee for two years on mine. Even though my paperwork said otherwise.

    • Got the same wording which is extremely misleading.
      I’ll be calling to confirm.

  • I just went to apply and noticed the annual fee in the first year is no longer $0. Instead it is now only reduced $100 to $179 in the first year,

    • really? i just click the go to deal and see
$0 annual card fee for the first year#
$279 usually. Only available on new Amplify Signature cards.# Limited time only.

    • I think they are running 2 different promotions - Depends on the link. Try the link provided again.

    • I applied using the link with $0 annual fee. I'll call them to check.

    • +1

Log into your QFF account, use the link there, still $0 for 1st year.

  • Just so you know, I, like many other, received the card, and it is clearly written that there is an annual fee of $279. I called, and the lady said there's no such thing as $0 annual fee. I called again, and the gentleman said there is, and he used the word, "it comes with Family Benefit, so the annual fee is waived". In that call, I activated my card. Hope all goes well!

    • It says 279 will be charged after 12mths. i.e. 1st year free if you cancel within 12mths. Some people here must be new to credit card terminology. Although it's STG so anything's possible. May require the odd phone call or 10 if things don't go according to plan.

    • +1

it has been discussed multiple times already, it's free for the first year end of the story. The paperwork they send is generic and mention the $279 fee.

      • +1

The paperwork forms part of your terms of agreement, which you’re agreeing to when you activate the card. I wouldn’t dismiss the error/misprint so easily as the banks could legally hold you liable if you accept the terms.

        • +1

Agreed, though heaps of people called already to confirm it's free, so a bit of a search in a post would show it.

Absolute nightmare to apply with St George. I hate to use old cliches but it was a truly unappealing process. I've never had any CC be as difficult as this. Tons and tons of stupid, needless questions. My annual income is no issue with this company, and neither is my rental income - but they still still insist that i provide proof (which, I did). They told me I can just supply a screenshot (which I did), and then they told me it has to be an statement (which I did), and then they said the rent income was inconclusive because my property manager lists RENTAL INCOME as RENT P'MENTS, which St George did not deem as Rent Payment (seriously.. face palm).

It's been 2 weeks since I applied and im still waiting for more and more stupid questions from them.

So annoyed.I really regret applying for this company and I will NEVER ever go near this company again.

    • some people had nightmares with CBA, some with NAB, some with Citi.
some had no issue with WBC, StG, ING.

      its just a roulette.

  • -2

Good credit score, met the minimum income requirements, no outstanding credit cards or debt and yet still rejected. Disappointing St George.

    • +3

Because you dont have outstanding credit card means you are not a credit card person to pay them 22% interest.

  • got email just now:

    Dear xxxx,
Thank you for choosing Qantas Rewards with your St.George Amplify Signature credit card.
We’re pleased to let you know that your two Qantas Club Complimentary Lounge Invitations are now available for you to use with your next eligible flight^.

didnt spend anything, just register. got the passes already, havent spent near $4000 at all

    • You don't need to spend anything to get lounge passes, that's normal.

      • Does the lounge pass let you bring kids (under 12) for free? so two lounge passes can bring two kids in for free?

        • sorry no idea. the passes must be linked to an actual booking prior to your flight. as for kids not too sure but I don't see why not.

        • No. They changed it late last year but they not that strict

        • no it's 1 invitation per person :'( , I even asked them for infant (like 6mo baby) they said you might get away without an invitation , well I hope so it's not like he will using much of the lounge LOL

  • mine got rejected too…may be coz i have a home loan…

  • +1

Applied on Feb 12, conditionally approved.
    Feb 13, received approval.
Feb 18, received call advising card is ready for collection.
Feb 19, collected card from their branch. The teller upon seeing the card said with a sly smile "oh, for the points?"

Not a bad experience so far.. he didn't give me the welcome letter however, did I miss anything important?

Edit: also, how do I get the QF passes? Is there a link to register this?

    • +1

Read all posts this thread you'll find the answer about passes

      • Turns out they mailed me the welcome pack with all the details. Registered the QF lounge passes on their website. loungepass.stgeorge.com.au

  • stupid question, can i use credit card to pay my mortgage and utility bills? is that eligible purchase? so i can reach the minimum spend within 3 months

    • Highly doubt any lender allow you pay by CC. Else we all rolling in million of points!

      No problem with utility bills.

      • +3

        Paying mortgage lol….and I thought he is a master….

  • +1

Applied last Tuesday received card today. Easy process.

  • Got card today also but it says $279 yearly fee which I know has been raised multiple times already but is there anything required in writing to dispute this in case they do charge a fee? They say "Total Fees and Charges which are Definitely Payable" I'd feel more comfortable having it free in writing like Citibank.

I've already taken a screenshot anyway through the correct link

    • They were going to charge me $179, I got them to deposit in $179 into my account.

  • Has anybody got this card and spent the money to get the 80,000 FF points and also taken the 0% balance transfer for 6 months. once you get a balance transfer you get 0 days interest free. So has anybody found a way to do this?

I remember finding a way to do this with a Qantas premier card - actually Qantas helped me out with a method to make sure that I didn't incur interest, but I think it may have involved spending the money then getting the balance transfer.

  • -4

Anyone knows if it's possible to combine Qantas points from different credit card offers into one.

For example: If get this credit card and get 80K points and then sign up for another credit card with ANZ and get 120K points for that. Can I combine them both to make 200k points?

    • +1

Yep..why else do you think people do this?

    • +1

You're not really combining them. You're just getting point from two different places. Sort of like if two people give you $50 notes. You have $100 but the notes haven't been combined. :)

      • Thanks for the analogy. But I can keep both 50$ notes in wallet, right ?

        • +1

No, one note in the wallet, but the other note must be in the pantry, for rainy days.

    • +1

All points for all sources go into one bank account (i.e your qantas FF points pool). You can spend it as you like.

      • -2

Nice. That’s great to hear. This is my first time getting credit car for points. I will have to pay tuition fees soon so spending the 4K shouldn’t be an issue.

  • Silly silly question (I know), but I have applied for the card now, but havent had a Qantas frequent flyer account previously. On the Qantas website it says one off fee of $99, surely none of us here has paid that, so whats the best/cheapest way to obtain one?

  • got the card today, time to spend.

  • Requested my qantas lounge pass a week ago. Havn't heard anything since. Anyone who's done this know how long it should take? Will I get notified?

    • +1

you might want to log into your QFF account, see whether the digital passes are there already.
I doubt they would notify you.

      • Yes from my experiences with 3 black cards and this, I got email notifications that I have passes waiting.

    • Didn't receive notification though just checked on my account on qantas and they appear, took around 1 week.

      • Yep just checked they were there, no email or anything though

  • Anyone knows whether Opal Direct Debit on this card considered as eligible spending for bonus points? Wondering whether Opal is treated as government.

    • buy woolies wish card and top up there

      • Yeah, I really should have done that. But just been lazy and had auto debit set up, lol.
        Thanks

  • Not the smoothest process, but I've been through worse (CBA).

    17th Feb: Applied
18th Feb: Conditional approval + submitted income verification

I received a follow up text and email saying that I need to provide income verification (which I already did).

Called up to see what was going on and the lady said everything was sorted and they've sent my card out.

22nd Feb: Received the card. But I never received a proper approval/confirmation email!

  • Anyone having issues applying online. I get message saying "We appreciate your interest in seeking a Credit Card with us. However, on this occasion, we are unable to proceed with this application."

So I called ST George Personal Lending Centre on 1300 300 196 as they suggested and every time I get told there is a system issue which is showing my application as blocked and I should visit a branch to get sorted.

Then I went to the branch and they said there is nothing wrong with my credit score or anything, the application didn't make it through for system issue. They said they could sign me up for a credit card but not the one above (the one I was offered included annual fee) as it's not directly advertised on their Website rather it comes from another 3rd party site.

I have called them multiple times and visited branch but no one could tell me why it's showing as blocked. They confirmed is not related to my credit score. If it's a system issue aren't the supposed to fix it? It seems they are not even putting the effort to find the cause of this. Tbh not very pleased with their support centre on the phone.

Anyone had similar experience ? If so, how did you solve it ? Would appreciate some help, I am just trying to take the opportunity of the Qantas points for the first time :(

    • well if is is their system issue how can ozb members help you, i do not know…
maybe use different computer or browser to try apply again. if still cant, try different day, different time.

      • +1

Just wondering if someone else had similar experience.

Yeah I tried different computers, different day and time. I don't think it's an issue on my end. But who knows, they can't even tell me exactly what the "system issue" is, which is the most frustrating thing.

        • The system issue is STG :)

    • Holy moly… I had an almost identical issue with CBA a few years ago.

It actually ended with me reapplying for the card, getting approved, receiving the card, and then having it cancelled before I could use it.

      Good times…

      • +1

Wow, that's not a pleasant experience.

Good news is, I didn't have to go that far. I was able to solve my issue. I was selecting the exact address from St George which incorrectly list my unit as a business. So this time instead of selecting that exact address I just selected the street address and I was successful and my card is conditionally approved.

Then I called them up and corrected my address how it should be.

So I think, it was getting block before because I was applying for personal credit card but using a business address (which is incorrectly listed on their end). That's my best guess as they could not provide me a reason for "system issue". I mean it's 2019 and yet they have systems which works like 1990.

  • +1

    received the point today.

customer service was good with me

wait time for card arrival was less than 2 weeks.

  • -3

I received the card in the letter box today. I had applied Wednesday last week.

Can I transfer amount owing on another credit card from another bank and include it as part of the $4000 spend required in 90 days ?

  • Thanks

  • -2

My application was unsuccessful. First time rejected for a credit card in past 10 years, 2nd card applied in last 12 month.
No reason given, ask me to go to branch said they maybe able to assist (not sure in what way).
    Hopeless bank.

  • +2

got the points after 2nd statement - roughly 5-6 days after hitting the $4K :)
