  • St Georgef?

    • Fixed, thanks

And the link for QF point? The link you sent was only for amplify points?

  • How do I get the qantas card with no annual fee?

  • How many velocity points would 100k amplify points convert to?

    • +1

      50,000

      • Are there ever bonuses throughout the year for transferring to velocity from amplify (like there is for flybuys, ANZ, Citi, etc)?

  • lookes better than the current Westpac Altitude cards deal

    • It is better but I’m guessing the income requirements are higher for this one so may not suit everyone. Compared to the altitude Black this requires a higher spend but the promo on those cards ended.

      • so what is the minimum income?

        • +1

75k I believe with minimum 15k credit limit

          • @Slo20: That’s before tax right? Haha

            • +3

@markj: Yeah. But not including super.

          • +1

            @Slo20: I got this card and I'm under 75k.

  • +2

What constitutes eligible purchases within the 90 day period? Im travelling overseas in Feb so would most likely spend that on accommodation for the family.

    • +1

It should be fine, a portion of my spendings last time included AirBnB. Things like cash equivalent purchases i.e. topping up your TAB account wouldn't be eligible as far as I know.

    • +2

You can buy Westfield visa gift card and it counts as eligible spent. The visa card can be used in any places including groceries and restaurants. Essentially a prepaid visa card.

      • Is paying rates/ land tax etc constitutes as eligible purchase? I note that ‘govt fees’ are ineligible.

        • Any idea Blonky?

Looks the same as this one for those who missed out: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/418075

Deja vu moment…must be a glitch.
Surprised they are restarting/running this again since so many problems with delivery.

  • I just finished collecting my Westpac Altitude points. Can I cancel that and apply for this?

    • +1

Of course, I've just done the exact same.

    • +2

      me too

    • +2

Is there any fine-fine-print that somehow excludes Westpac cards as well? Just with the whole way they're all the same group and all that.

  • +2

Anyone having experience with applying this with lower than 75000 annual income?

    • +6

Nice try, everyone on ozb are millionaires

    • +1

Rejected for me, however was able to get the NAB Signature Rewards (90000k qantas points).

      • What's the earning criteria for this card, can't find that info on the website?

  • +7

The whole process was a (profanity) for this card last time, just be warned it might take a lot of effort to get the card.

    • Care to explain? I applied last week and received the card on Monday with no dramas

      • My mrs has so many dramas when she applied for this card earlier in the year however I did it myself last month and it was straight forward.

      • Check the other thread, where people had lots of issues with the bank. I’ve applied and got the card sent to my address after showing payslips, but others had a range of issues namely
        - declined despite being told “approved”
        - cards sent to the branch, despite being told “on its way to your address”
        - bank ran out of black signature cards, had to supply basic green-ish card etc.

        Is yours an affiliate link?

        • Promo is from pointshack (no shame), I’m not affiliated so hopefully the deal is fine with ozb rules.
I also received the green card but not fussed.
Interesting to know about the issues though for anyone else applying

        • +1

Also got the green card. Looks like shitz.

They said will take 90 days to issue the proper one.

      • +2

Read the previous deal - tons of people had problems. My problem was I got told I was approved, got the welcome pack then waited 10 days no card, rang up asked whats going on then after 2 hours with the rep he had no idea. The rep tried to push my application through again, failed. Their system just didn't let me app go through despite low LVR mortgage, 6 figures job etc.

In the end I just canceled my application and went with a citibank card instead.

  • I am not seeing the Qantas card with a bonus of no annual fee, only the Amplify card?

    https://www.stgeorge.com.au/personal/credit-cards/frequent-f…

    • On the link the op gave you can select the card type and change it to qantas points. Have you tried that to see if it shows $0 still?

      • The Qantas version says “reduced fee, save $100” on the points hacks website .

  • +2

    St george are hopeless .
I applied for this card and was conditionally approved and then sent my bank statement straight away .
Then they requested 2 payslips so sent them multiple times
Now it has been 3 weeks and have heard nothing !
Also my husband applied who is on over 90k and then was told he didnt qualify for the signature card only the platinum card . We have sent his payslips so lets see if we ever hear anything

    • +2

yeh same thing happened to me too, and I earn well over 75k :(

    • +3

I've applied for many credit cards in my life and St George were the most incompetent bank. I eventually got the card and it was worth it for the points but these guys need to seriously review there process if they want to keep customers.

      • +2

Me too . I apply for nearly all the credit card promotions with various banks . This has been the worst experience

        • Me too. I jumped through hoops, and eventually rejected. I have applied for many other cards and never a problem. I will never apply for St G. again.

    • Yep they are the worst. And was rude on the phone. Have been dealing with them for 3 weeks. I feel like giving up on my application now.

  • Blonky!….. Oh MY GOD… its you!

  • Anyone get approved without a st George savings account?

    • From the previous deal (Nov 2018) - yes

    • Yes,in the previous deal/thread.

  • Isn't it $99 annual fee for Amplify Qantas https://www.stgeorge.com.au/personal/credit-cards/tools/cred…

  • totally cannot find $0 fee first year for Qantas.
    anyone with a link?

  • +4

Applied this at the start of December.

Got the card about 2 weeks later.

Just expect lots of random SMS asking you to provide income and ID proof, even after you’ve supplied it.

I was also told to call their customer hotline multiple times only to be told they have all the information they need.

    My timeline was
    4/12- Applied Online
5/12 - Sent in all documentation
12/12 - Got a text in the morning to contact their support number, who asked if I'm happy with the $15,000 limit, then approved the card
17/12 - Welcome pack received, dated 13/12. $279 annual fee shown in pack.
17/12 - Got a text at lunch time telling me to pick up card at local branch. Called ahead to confirm the card is there, showed up, collected card, changed PIN. Asked branch person to check that there's no annual fee for first year. Confirmed to be correct.

Also note that they’ve run out of the black signature card. You’ll get a generic green card and the black card only sent to you after 3 months.

      Thanks for sharing.
Sounds like St.George is a nightmare to deal with.
      Will wait for other deals.

  • Still waiting for my proper card to come (not the ugly green one I currently have)

    • I got this card last week from the previous promo posted a few weeks ago… the card is a crappy pale green one..

      • Sounds like I’m the only one that got the proper black card straight away.

        • As did I. My partner as an additional card holder got the green one though. Actually wish I had the green as I've got 3 other black looking cards and they all getting confusing.

          • +1

@Dundundunnnn: Not to matter… don't keep these cards long anyway :D

  • +13

Who cares about the colour of the card!

    • +1

      Millenials.

  • if select Amplify rewards, there is a promotion code "Affiliate AmpSig AmpRewards 100k FYFW" showing on the screen, if select Amplify Qantas, no promotion code is showing, wondering whether 80k Qantas points will be honoured or not in this deal

  • I wanted to get this card but I heard that a $15k credit card application reduces your chance for home loans.

I will be a first home buyer sometime next 2 years and I have a 6k old credit card (about 3 years old) which I want to cancel.

    Any advice?

    • +1

Yes, $15,000 is quite a high credit limit (and I tried to lower mine today and it does not allow, as this is the min credit limit for this card).

If you are earning 150k+ then you will be okay, otherwise I'd be cautious as all credit card spending power is taken into account for loans etc.

      • I'm under 100k income.

    • +3

if you're thinking about using this as your daily credit card, then there isn't much you can do about it, because during the application process they will take that into consideration, as well as other credit card or loan that you have. But if you're only getting it for the points you can always cancel it after you got the points.
If you are using it as daily credit card then you can always cancel it before your application but I would suggest only cancel it if it becomes an issue, since you may still get the loan anyway or you can't get the loan but the credit card wasn't the only issue (ie your income, other loans and expenses). I had a similar issue with one of my home loan, and my broker told me if I didn't have the card then the loan would be approved, so I cancelled it and sign up again (same limit) after the approval.

      • Yes, was looking at using this as a normal card to get the Qantas points.

Not sure how all of this, including cancelling, pans in with a potential home loan, credit score, etc. Don't want to make a risky move especially with the Royal Commission on top of the banks.

        • +1

as long as you're paying your credit card off on time etc I don't think it will affect you in any negative way, including if you need to cancel the credit card to get the loan, because at the end of the day, what the bank is looking at is adding up all the numbers to see if you can service the loan (ie your income minus your liability/expenses) plus you can often get a pretty good idea nowadays if your application will be successful or not with either a broker or a loan specialist at the bank after entering in all your info.

          • @yolo123456789: Thank you for the info.

I've never defaulted on anything and I'm using my credit card just to get the Qantas points, covering it every 2 weeks.

I'll have a chat with my missus and see if I'll go ahead with the application.

How is this bank to deal with? Saw a lot of negative comments regarding this application here.

            • +1

@[Deactivated]: that I can't tell you mate, coz I actually got rejected like many others on here even though we all earn more than what they are asking for. So might be worth doing a bit more research!

              Good luck~!

  • Any indication when this might expire?

    • Last I checked it was 23 Jan 2019

  • Can you use the amplify point to pay off your balance?
Wondering how much does 100k point worth in real dollar terms

    • Looks like around $400

  • Looks good but I'm thinking I should wait until just after my birthday to get 10% bonus on points earned in the first year. But 50k bonus is tempting…

    • You mean you need to spend BEFORE your birthday, to get the 10% bonus?

      • Correct… "We call this your birthday bonus and you'll receive 10% of the total points earned in the previous year* in your account to enjoy as you like."

  • If you have had the qff amplify the last months, one should still be eligible for the amplify reward?

  • Applied for NAB 2 weeks ago and was rejected due to too many enquiry.
Need to apply ANZ Black for 120k in March, can't waste enquiry on this one, but damn this is a good deal.

    • +1

How many enquiries do you have for the rejection to have occurred?

      • +3

8 in last 6 months. Called for reconsideration.
NAB told me to try again in another 6 month, and they need to see non enquiry in this period.
