I want to personally say thank you for providing such a great service :)

    • +1

      My wallet says otherwise hahah

    • Thanks pacsman - cheers, ABB

  • +1

Missing all the good stuff - my nbn HFC expected date has been pushed from last month to April next year. ADSL the only (economical) option and the install fees suck!! Was a previous ABB customer at previous address and loved the service, speeds, etc. Everyone should get on board if they can.

    • +1

      Next year? So soon?

I'm slated to get FTTC sometime in the first half of 2020!

      • +4

        My condolences. :(

    • +1

Have you checked recently on the NBN site?

Mates said 2020 now says September 2018.

  • Can I use the modem provided to me by My Republic if I switch (its the my Hub+ one)?

    • Hi Danstar, yes you can aslong as this is not locked to MyRepublic. Cheers, ABB

      • How do I find out if it's locked or not ?

        • +1

I have a MyRepublic modem and am using it on another ISP. Go into the Wizard at the top of the setup page, and it will take you through your ISP settings. You should be fine.

        • Ask MyRepublic … ?

        • +1

@noz: Well yes, but prefer to avoid having to call up if I can find out that information on my own :)

    • +1

No issues, it worked without any configuring for me

    • +1

Won't be locked, just go through setup again.

    • +1

I confirm its unlocked…just changed mine yesterday to letsbemates internet provider…easy setup..just need to enter password and username provided by new isp.. need to goto http://192.168.1.1 for setup..

  • You guys do adsl2? My area yet has nbn until next may……

    • +1

We sure do Hornpub, unfortunately this offer is only for nbn though - cheers, ABB

      • Any chance of getting a deal for us forgotten ADSL users? I've just about had it with Spintel and their ridiculous speeds.

    • +18

Would you consider changing your username to Hornpubpremium once you get NBN?

  • Hi Rep, i know you only allow for 3 months pre-order

and I've pre-ordered back in May/June … should i cancel and re-pre-order again using this new code "freefriday" to reset the 3 months ?

or, are you pretty lenient/loose with the "3 months"

my hfc/fttc .. scheduled for end of year.

    Planned availability: Oct-Dec 2018*.
We're continuing to upgrade the nbn™ HFC network in your area. Please check back periodically for updates on when your premises will be ready to connect.
Planned technology: nbn™ Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC)*.
*This date and technology is based on nbn’s current deployment plans and is subject to change.

    • Hi phunkydude unfortunately our system won't allow you to cancel and then re order. It is also quite strict on the 3 month pre order timeframe - cheers, ABB

      • does that mean after 3 months past , the pre-order will be cancelled automatically , or do i need to call in to cancel ?

does that also means it's treated as offer has been used and any future free month deal will not apply to that address even though service never got activated ?

      • -1

To me it’s pretty poor to not allow people to change their pre order ‘offer’ if something else comes long. I signed up for the $10 off unlimited for 6 months as it ran till the end of August so figured there wouldn’t be any more offers in that time. And since then you’ve had 3 other offers running at the same time as the $10 off per month.

Makes me just want to cancel the pre order and just go with Mungi and save $10 a month over the ‘special’ price (and $20 off the regular unlimited price) and reminds me a lot about Telecube running so many promos.

I can understand if a customer is already in the process of being signed up by Aussie (so you’ve incurred actual costs) but a pre order that’s 2-3 months away from an area becoming RFS I don’t see what cost Aussie would have incurred, and it just p***es off potential new customers.

Just my perspective from a pre ordered potential customer who isn’t live till October.

  • +2

Am I able to provision this free month on my second UNI-D port on my FTTP box and cancel it straight away so I can just try it out and not have to pay for another month?

    • +1

This should be a good option if allowed. Could work out as a trial and help in comparing two services simultaneously.

    • +9

Sorry that's not in the spirit of the offer. We have systems in place that once you take advantage of an offer you will no longer be able to use any other offer if you try to return to us. This offer is about creating genuine customers who plan to stick around.

      • +3

That’s completely fair enough. Just a poor student wanting to try the best of the best haha. Thanks for the reply

      • Hi Phil, i'm on pre-order.

does that mean after 3 months past , the pre-order will be cancelled automatically , or do i need to call in to cancel ?

does that also means it's treated as offer has been used and any future free month deal will not apply to that address even though service never got activated due to nbn not available after the 3 months preorder?

        • In terms of your pre order it will stay in the system until you area goes live. Once it goes live you will get a message saying do you wish to proceed and you'll have 24 hours to stop the order otherwise it will go through.

The using the promo code on your pre order will only burn your address once it goes active.

        • @Phil Britt:

          Thanks Phil,

I assume your system has 3 months expiry date on the promo code for pre-order , hence the pre-order will go through without the promo code if 3 months has past ?

Can i cancel the pre-order now, knowing the 3 months expires soon ?

        • @Phil Britt:

What about customers who signed up without an offer. I asked the rep for a discount but none was available and then next month, modem is free and so is the first month.

Can I cancel and sign up again?

        • +1

          @Phil Britt

The using the promo code on your pre order will only burn your address

Need to make sure your house insurance is up to date ;)

  • isnt Mungi cheaper and same level of service etc?

    • -6

      The hell is Mungi?

      Short answer: no

Long answer: ABB just topped the official charts.

    • +5

Well be able to tell you later on today, have Mungi and ABB connected.

      • Thanks - keep us posted.

        • OK an update.

Currently on 50/20 fixed wireless service. Different port for each service.

Customer service Aussie broadband is great. Mungi have a text service which is pretty cool, texted them about activation and they replied within a minute.

Was activated in 6 business hours.

          Speeds @ 7PM.

          Using speedtest.net. In Mbps.

          Melbourne - internode

          Aussie: 41 down 15 up
          Mungi: 44 down 17 up

          Melbourne - Optus
          Aussie: 42 down 14 up
          Mungi: 43 down 14 up

          Berlin:

          Aussie: 28 down 12 up
          Mungi: 35 down 12 up

          California:

          Aussie: 42 down 14 up
          Mungi: 47 down 15 up

Really happy so far with Mungi. Keeping both services active for now. Will report back after a week.

      • yes would love an update.

ABB offer a terrific service, but the need for more data has me considering jumping over to Mungi.

If ABB has a cheeky little deal for existing customers - even just a bit more data - I'd consider sticking around :)

        • Added review above :)

  • Just got off the phone with this mob, they seem on the ball. Trying to chase the pissed off MyRepublic customers I see, haha. I wanna sign up but need to convince the housemates

  • I went to sign up and it was going great up until I mentioned that I was going to try them for the free month and then move to another provider. I asked how much time I needed to give to cancel and the lady said it didn’t matter, just as long as it was before the billing date. After that she said “there was a stop sell (or whatever she called it) in my area” and would be unable to sign me up, funny how there wasn’t a “stop sale” until I said I’d be moving after the free month.

Now I’ve signed up to another provider I think that was a blessing!

    • +1

I would say the consultant looked further into the address and the stop sell was then identified as its on a per POI basis. If you are connected to any of these POIs currently, then they are on stop sell:
      Toowoomba 2 CSA
      Katanning CSA
      Woolloongabba 2 CSA
      Stirling 2 CSA
      Bendigo 2 CSA
      Greenfields Depot CSA
      Lonsdale Depot 2 CSA
      Darwin CSA
      Dandenong 2 CSA
      Kings Park CSA
      Tullamarine 2 CSA
      Coffs Harbour 2 CSA
      Cannington CSA

      • Nope none would of been mine.

      • Can you give an idea of when 6CAN CSA will be upgraded? My Telstra NBN contract is due to expire shortly.

      • And I signed up yesterday to ABB; knowing I'm in a current stop sell area…I still wanted to get on board. They were so awesome, they sent me an email today giving me the first month free also. Can't wait to get on. I'm currently on telecube with unusable 50/20 plan between 730 and 11 pm. Clocked 11mbps last night 😑 930pm…

    • +2

wtf why would you tell them you were planning to move straight after?

      • So I know how much notice I’d have to give before being charged the full amount.

    • +5

Hi Melbournebargain, the consultant may have been waiting for our system to do the service qualification on your address and then found that the POI you are connecting to is on "stop-sell."

This is a policy implemented by us to make sure we are not over subscribing our links and taking the experience away from our already connected customers on the POI. Once the new backhaul has been installed we will be able to take on new customers on your POI again.

Our managing director Phil Britt has written about this policy on Whirlpool as well which you can read here (https://www.aussiebroadband.com.au/blog/aussie-broadband-dec…)

      Cheers, ABB

      • -1

I gave her my address before I asked this question. She had plenty of time to inform me.

        • If you are able to PM me your address Melbournebargain I can certainly look into this one and tell you which POI you are connected too.
          Cheers, ABB

    • +3

So you wanted to take advantage of them, and they didn't let you? Oh wow, how terrible of them. /s

      • I really hope you don’t take any free bags from Coles because that is taking advantage of them!

        • Melb-bargain is allowed to say what he likes and use up the offer as he chooses. Not doing anything wrong.

I just signed up too, and if it’s not better than my republic who in switching from, I’ll go back to my republic

    • That's not in the spirit of the offer

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/6223312/redir

But I don't think the consultant would have lied you.

      • +1

That’s what terms are conditions are for. No such thing as spirit when it comes to bargains

  • Still can't use ABB in my area sadly. Currently with Iprimus and getting sh*t speeds.

  • Hey rep, my brother is currently on ADSL (Telstra Wholesale area) and also has Telstra cable running past his house. He's in Hope Island and the area is not due to get NBN until Jan-Jun 2020. The NBN technology for the area will be FTTC, which seems strange considering Telstra cable is already there. Is there anything you can do for him presently?

    • He should just get Telstra cable in the meantime if his ADSL isn't suiting his needs. Telstra have unfortunately never allowed resale access to their HFC network.

    • Nothing except joining Telstra cable which is actually quite decent.

  • arrgh I signed up yesterday!

  • +1

Changing to Aussie was the best decision I've ever made (regarding services..)

For the first time in forever I don't have to think about my internet.. its just always on and always fast..

    • Couldn't agree more with you mutardo. I've been with Aussie for a year and don't even look at others. The few dollars more I pay is worth it. No more buffering, no more multiple modem restarts and great service.

    • Sounds just like my Telstra FTTN… Always up, always maximum speed on 100/40 :p

  • I found the chart at the bottom this page useful, though it doesn't have all ISP's

    https://www.finder.com.au/fastest-peak-hour-nbn-providers#nb…

  • +1

I haven't really noticed anything different/amazing with Aussie Broadband, that might mean they're really good and I'm having no issues which means +++.

  • No hope of us long term users getting a cheeky deal on the side? :)

Keep up the good work - I'm quite lucky and hardly get any drop outs with my service (total of two over the last 18 months~).

  • I just signed up on previous deal. Do you support modems by Google?

  • +1

Most of Ozb should be in ABB already! Any plans for slashing some prices for existing customers?

  • Could I join on the 100 speed to see what speed I actually get, then if I decide it's not enough extra to warrant paying more for, change the next month to the 50 speed?

I had got 58 when on 100, 45 on the 50 speed - FTTN NBN

    • I am pretty sure you can. You can change your plan after you get connected just before the next billing cycle.

      • Be nice to get that from the rep.

Q 2. Can we sign up now, but delay 'churn' until the date our current ISP month runs out?

        • Yeah you can set a ‘do not connect till ‘x’ date’ when signing up. Best to set it 2-3 days before the rollover from your previous ISP in case anything goes wrong.

        • My other option is an ISP that lets you turn off the connection for days you don't use it (holidays or low use - could just use mobile then). There's one near me that charge $3.50 per day for 50, $4 for 100.

I have a 20gb mobile plan I use hardly any of)

but what you could do with ABB is cut the speed and data down for any month you're away so $50 pm.

      • Yes, they're month by month plans, no contract, so might as well start with full speed, full data just to check it. Ta ta crappy Telecube, you scheisters.

    • +1

hi wfdtamar, yes this is fine to do. As we have no contracts on our plans you are fine to change between speeds on your service (just make sure you let us know before your next billing period) Cheers,ABB

  • so I wonder if TPG will update all their marketing pages and claims of "top provider rated by ACCC" now that the report has been updated… ?

  • so slightly better than the -$10/m deal that seems to be constantly running?
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/388970

on a side not can we upgrade from the 500gb (everyday) to unlimited (family) at anytime?

    • Yep just do it through the online portal.

  • +1

I've had good experiences with ABB.

NTD started rebooting randomly so raised a case with ABB. Two days later NBN tech rocked up and replaced whole system, now getting 45/50Mbps on fixed wireless.

  • can you waive the 'new development fee' of $300 ?

    • +3

Unfortunately not aznbob this is a cost passed on directly from the nbn - cheers, ABB

      • -4

How about half price? No free month?!?

        • +1

Why should they though? It’s a fee that every connection would have had to pay for originally (it’s just a continuation of the $299 fee from Telstra for the first connection). If they give a free month, they just take the hit for what the NBN costs are and forfeit their ‘take’ between the NBN costs to what they charge.

If they subsidised the new development fee that’s literally $150 they’re giving away to NBN and will take a lot longer to get back (plus as they don’t have contracts someone could just do that then move to another ISP the next month and ABB are out of pocket by a lot).

    • -1

try belong. they can waive that fee for you.

      • I can't find anything on thier website?

  • Can I use dodo's modem hawai HG569. How to check if it is locked?

  • Signed up with no deals or bonus after the telecube hike, Why not reward loyal ozbargain customers too ?

  • basically if you guys are on pre-order with ABB, so waiting for NBN to come live and didnt have a discount code then cancel..

I did that with ABB and it was all good.. I had pre-ordered with no promo.. saw the $10 month discount for 1st 6 month offer a week later on here.. so i rang up, they let me cancel ( he had to go first ask his supervisor) and then i signed up again online 2 days later with the promo code, currently still on pre-order waiting for my RFS..

this was only about 5 weeks ago..

  • +2

As others have said, well done ABB for making the NBN worthwhile

I got this 1st month free deal and it pushed me over the edge to sign up with them

  • Can I sign up and arrange for install etc later on?
I'm on a work trip the next few weeks

    • +2

Hi imnotarobot, yes this is fine. Just advise our team of your earliest date for connection (in your case the date after you come back) - cheers, ABB

      • Signed up for install from the end of the month.
Have gone with the fastest for the first month to see what I can get, will stick with it if it's good (and heaps better than what my current ADSL provider was trying to sell me!) Thanks!

  • I recently rejoined ABB after moving from Darwin to Perth yet the speeds and consistency is not as good. Just wondering if our modem needs updating, its an old Telstra Gateway one and we are now in a double storey with walls and stairs etc whereas in Darwin it was a much more open, single level house. Service is only great if we are sitting in the lounge (where the modem is) but even in the kitchen, a mere 15 metres or so away, the levels drop considerably. Appreciate your thoughts on this?

    • Hi michshanlee thats a strange one, have you spoken to our tech support team about this one? They will be the best to assist with rectifying the issue. - Cheers, ABB
