I took this up at $99/m with the $100 cashback in about Oct last year.

The internet side is OK, coming from ABB it is a bit slower (contrary to their ads) but at Gbps it is barely noticable.

The cashback side though, good god. TCB tracked my click through but didn’t register the sign-up. I contacted them in November and lodged a missing claim, get told it can take months as it is in the hands of SL. It is still months later and I have ecen emailed SL (albeit quite recently) and yep as you guessed, still waiting.

So I suppose, maybe be prepared to muck around a bit.

    • +1

      Having the same issue.
Without the cash back, not a good deal

    • +5

"The internet side is OK, coming from ABB it is a bit slower (contrary to their ads) but at Gbps it is barely noticable."

For balance, I've had the opposite experience in my area with Superloop performing better than ABB.

Results may vary due to localised congestion.

      • Yeah that is a very good point.
        I should have YMMV’d

      • Any way to understand how the speed might vary per provider, pre-signing up with a service?

    • +6

Same issue here. Took screenshots, ensured cash back was activated/clicked through properly. Still waiting and now apprehensive to use TCB again.

      • @tightarse

      • -6

TCB has been so trash for me, works intermittently and every claim lodged is rejected

        • +19

LOL @Jollystacker. You have 35 tracked orders. 8 bonuses. $216 in lifetime cashback. 4 lifetime claims (none rejected, 3 paid, 1 pending). Where exactly has it been trash, and why bend the truth?

          • +16

@tightarse: wow didn't think i'd see a murder on ozbargain today

          • +4

            @tightarse: RIP Jollystacker.

          • @tightarse: Hahaha, whoop arse! Someone is BS'ing here lol

          • @tightarse: I have bought so many times without it being tracked, lodged claims just to be rejected on most occasions hence why I said intermittent. Many have tracked and many have not.

            • +2

@Jollystacker: Is it possible you could be referring to a different cashback provider? We’ve not rejected any of your claims as I stated previously. Feel free to message me directly for clarification. Cheers.

      • +3

Hi @kookykersbrook. Sorry to hear your tracking failed. These are the tips I always provide in my posts to help with tracking:

For tracking success, disable/remove all 3rd party plugins (AdBlock, uBlock, Pi-hole, Honey, etc), VPNs, avoid browsers such as Brave, close additional browser tabs, and don't click away to other sites looking for codes etc after clicking from TopCashbackAU as tracking will be lost. TopCashbackAU must be the very last click/tap prior to purchase. Try our iOS/Android mobile app for improved tracking results. Use our Help Centre & Contact form here for any questions, issues, or claims.

As you're probably aware by now, Honey is a big issue. Hope this helps, and please know that your claim will be processed and hoping for a favourable outcome. Always here to help. Cheers!

        • Unfortunately for me, I had the same issues with SL not tracking. Can’t really blame my browser since every other transaction tracked fine.

    • +4

      Also, have the same issue.
      Click tracked, but cashback didn't.

      • Same here.
Lodged a missing claim on 06/12/24 and now we wait

    • Just had a squize at what Choice reckons.
Generally AB does better than SL in the ChoIce Expert scoring and download speed, but really top five or so not much in it. Interestingly, Exetel first in download speed.
I will disclose i am currently on AB.

I used TopCashBack for an internet service with Tangerine Telecom. They never tracked my purchase. I just can't be bothered chasing them up and won't be using them again.

    • -1

Please see here as it may help. Thanks.

  • +1

Mine tracked when I joined SL during the Black friday sales. It only started showing in TopCashback the next business day.

    • +3

My signup w SL via TCB did not track. Sent query, till today no response. Poor form.

      • As discussed via PM :)

        • Noted with thanks. @tightarse

    • +1

Same for mine when I signed up during the Black Friday sales. The claim was on 09 Nov 2024 and the status is still waiting for retailier.

  • Does it offer static IP?

    • +2

$5 more per month. I got the first month "free" as I asked for it a couple of days after connecting and it only began charging from the next invoice.

    • +1

Don't be too fussed if it's not super important. I opted out of CGNAT the moment I joined over 18 months ago. My IP hasn't changed since.

  • +5

I cry seeing these speeds knowing my strata is full of old people who don’t see/have any benefit in getting our MDU upgraded to FTTP :(

    • +1

That would be a major expense attempting to run optical cable to each unit. My strata has basically said it's not their job to provide fast internet in a 50 year old block of 25 units.

      • +2

Had an NBN guy come out and quote and he said it wouldn't be more than the $275 that NBN advertises as "starting from" for the subsidised MDU upgrade. I'm only a measly rental tenant but the Strata Manager accidentally emailed a copy of the Strata AGM minutes to me recently which included bank statements showing there's over 200k in the kitty. With only 8 villas/units it's not all that expensive in this case. If the dropouts get any worse I'd almost pay it myself

I wouldn't mind so much if it actually got sent through to a vote of the owners if it was explained properly to them (it would still get knocked back) but the old biddy Strata Manager straight up replied "There's already internet available at the property" and left it at that

        • What a joke that they won't pay $2200 out of the $200k fund. You shouldn't have to pay for FTTP yourself but you could and the neighbours can stay on FTTN/FTTC if they want to.

Do you plan on staying there or are you going to move?

        • Is 5G an option?

          • @entropysbane: I do game a fair bit so unless things have improved in that area with pings I wouldn't really know. I have to admit for the most part I hit the node lottery. My speeds are 120/48mbps. Every year or so we get a spate of dropouts that requires NBN techs to come out and fix and it's pretty annoying. When it's all up and running though as far as FTTN goes it's much better than a lot of the horror stories out there. I have a feeling with the way the Strata Manager discussed it with me though even if I offered to pay for everyone's upgrade she would still push back :D

  • +12

Superloop has 30 day cancellation policy FYI.

    • Do any ISPs not do this anymore? I just left exetel and they also had a 30day cancellation period.
Its easy enough to schedule the changeover for 30days so you don't get any double-billing period though

      • +2

Exetel was bought by Superloop so they probably have the same process

      • +2

only superloop and exetel do this as I know, so I have never used any of those hehe

        • +1

          Plus TPG and iiNet.

      • +3

Only the scum ISPs do this.

    • +5

I got stung by SL on this and I'm not going back to them ever. Screw them.

  • The only reason I changed from superloop to buddy was sometimes the routing was noticeably bad. Good price if they've sorted that.

  • How long does the transfer generally take, from application to churn? When I have done it in the past it has been minutes but the initial email suggests this will be days.

"Our aim is to get your property connected as soon as possible, or on your selected activation date. If you chose direct debit at checkout, we first need to verify the details with your bank which can take 3-5 business days. You may not hear from us during this time."

    • 30 minutes for me.

      • +1

        Spot on, took 30 minutes.

  • I signed up the Oct 24 deal and Cashback was tracked no issue… Superloop is always good in my area, same as ABB/Buddy…AFAIK $95/m for 1000/40 is the cheapest among the "good providers"? No?

  • This nbn deal or dodo 🦤 nbn plan?

  • Is cashback valid for opticomm? T&c's say nbn products only but the plans names are the same

  • Moved from more to superloop during black Friday and found the speeds are not quite as good as More

    • Have different experience and from more too. Probably because I bought a new modem ASUS RT-AX86U Pro and replaced Deco m5.

  • Man I wish the NBN had more even service tiers. I have a plex server at home that I'd like to share with family members in other states, so ~50mbps upload would be great, but I do not need or want to pay for 1000mbps down, as that's wildly surplus for me. Something like 250/50 would be just about perfect for me.

Specific to this deal though, I have used Superloop in the past at several rentals and had no issues with the service itself, nor their support teams when I've had reason to call them for assistance.

    • +2

100/20, 250/25 and 1000/50 goes away on FTTP and HFC and these speed tiers will be available in September.

      500/50, 750/50 and 1000/100 (FTTP and HFC).
      2000/100 (HFC).
      2000/200 and 2000/500 (FTTP).

      • That's what I have been waiting on, do you have a link to these announcements?

      • +1

Thanks, that's good to know. I suppose 500/50 is closer to the mark than 1000/50. My wife and I are in the process of potentially buying a unit in the next few months, and the building isn't too old, so I should check and hope that it has FTTP/FTTB.

        • I would try get a property that already has nbn FTTP. Second best would be a property that has FTTN or FTTC that is eligible for the $0 install FTTP upgrade.

nbn FTTB to FTTP is not available yet. If it's the same process as the FTTN/FTTC to FTTP for MDUs there is a user pays cost for each unit (starting at $275) and nbn cover the rest. You have to get everyone else and the body corporate/owners/strata manager to vote in favour for FTTP. Avoid MDUs if possible.

          • @Twix: The superloop website indicates that the unit has FTTB available to it, but it's only showing up to 100/40 available, so I hope when the plans change later this year I will have all the new high-speed tiers available.

            • @Morkai: nbn FTTB won't be getting 500/50 and higher speed tiers. FTTP and HFC is the only way to get them.

    • Agree, i upload a lot so i use 100/40, there's no 250/40 plan its 250/25 :(

    • Me too. My plex server has a lot of remote family users connecting so I've upgraded from 250/25 to 1000/50. But it's only $10 a month more with SL than what I'm paying for the 250/25 so first world problems really.

  • Does this work for existing members?

    • If you're off for more than 6 months usually, then you'll be considered a new customer.

  • Customers are able to nominate a later connection date and receive cashback provided you remain a customer for at least 90 days after placing your NBN order.

    No hit and run FYI

  • I've had good experiences with them, I attempted to leave to churn to another provider, they offered me 100/40 for $85, happy with that.

    • yeah, same—was offered $99 for 100/50 plan, valid for an year

    • Did you receive any email from them for price increase? I'm stuck with them for 18 months and received email saying my 100/40 is increased to $95 this month. Speed-wise I always get somewhere close to 70 - 80MB/s max for download, much worse than previous providers. Not true speed advertising.

  • Mine tracked straight away with TopCashback.

Activation in 10 days just before my current NBN monthly cycle finishes.

Hopefully, no shenanigans from TopCashback due to not immediate activation.

    • It's all in the terms under 'what else is essential' :)

      https://www.topcashback.com.au/superloop/

Customers are able to nominate a later connection date and receive cashback provided you remain a customer for at least 90 days after placing your NBN order.

  • Entered FLASH into Promo Code and got The promo code is not valid.
    Was for the 100/40 plan

edit: ah FLASH is only for the 1000/50 plan.

  • I read the tc but it's not really clear… There doesn't seem to be a term contract? Ie U can leave any time without penalty?

  • +1

I've churned multiple times to Superloop over the years and everytime the speeds are nowhere near as constantly high as with AussieBB (1000/50).

    Has anyone else experienced this?

    • +1

      Yerp

  • Maybe I am one of the lucky ones. I had no issue with tracking though TCB when I signed up to SL in early December. And I have never had an issue with tracking with TCB with all of my purchases.

  • Maybe I'm just lucky. I give this a trial and have no issue with cashback tracking. I open a new browser without any extension just for this.

    https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/172715/119060/img_9333…

  • Spend the $5 extra for the public IP Address.

I switched to superloop and had lots off issues with websites saying my address had a botnet.
Cloudflare prompt to confirm I'm not a bot continuously on random websites.

The static IP seemed to resolve the issue.

    • +1

just opt out of CGNAT for free dont need static if you arent hosting something

  • Would this apply to those with an existing Superloop FTTN connection?

    • Check if you can swap to FTTP. 1000/50 is $109/m for current Superloop customers. Call up and ask for a deal.

  • so who else is going from Leaptels $99 deal straight to this one?

  • topcashback sucks try cashrewards tracks instantly

  • Churned out 5 months ago. Too soon to take up this offer?

    • Yes, 12 months youll need to wait.

  • Would doing this on the phone give you more likelihood of the CB getting tracked since I dont have any of the plug in's etc? To me the CB is the difference of whether to move ahead or not.

Anyone had experience with Buddy or Southern Phone? Both have good 1000mbps offers as well.

  • +1

Thx OP, completed the process all through mobile (app). Tracked within 1hr of checkout. CG-Nat disabled in 5 minutes through live chat

    • I googled CG-Nat but it didn't really say why you'd turn it off, do you mind sharing? Gaming possibly was one mentioned or running a server.. Thanks!

      • +2

I'm running some services at home (game streaming, media, file, photo servers), CG-NAT pools several users to a single IP address so you won't be able to handshake with your specific IP address.

When someone tries to visit your website, the internet doesn’t know which device (yours) to send the request to because you don’t have a unique public IP.

It can affect gaming since some multiplayer games (Minecraft, Terraria, Valheim) may use peer-to-peer connections, if you have CG-NAT, other people will have trouble finding your unique IP address. Some security cameras can be affected as well if they don't use a proxy (their own servers).

      • +1

CG-NAT works fine for most users. CG-NAT can break remote access to some home security cameras, some home automation products, Plex server, NAS, servers or if you want to host online P2P games. After you ask the ISP to turn off CG-NAT you will be able to use remote access and host online P2P games again. Leave CG-NAT turned on if you don't do any of this.

If your home security cameras and automation products use a cloud server you will not be affected by CG-NAT.

  • Any legal reasons for buying NBN 100? I don't see the point of that much speed if everything will work with NBN 25.

    • +1

legally you don't need to have any nbn plan

  • Highly recommend Southern Phone. Cheaper and 12 month deal. Fantastic speeds and ping, even during peak.
I run a Plex server too and has been great for remote connections.

    50% cashback with topcashback.

    • Southern Phone has been absolutely terrible in the past for me and others. Maybe they've improved? I'll never touch them again though.
