So is this N150 or G? The pic says N150, the shopbot link they linked to is for N150, but their description is only for G. Misleading? or is this some Belkin way of advertising their 'enhanced' G?

      In COTD's words (facebook)

It's this model number: F6D4230AU4, and we tested it, the model number says N, but it's a G router really

I was confused myself when I saw it…

      • "The Enhanced N150 range is 802.11b & g certified and based on the 802.11n technology"

    • Yeah I'm confused as well.
I'm also thinking the stuff on shopbot are of the N version, hence more expensive. Maybe this G one is discontinued?
They don't even give model no. or anything.

  • It's draft N. To get 150, you need their proprietary wireless usb dongle.

    • is that right ?? hmmm ….
i already have one of these to connect my netbook wirelessly around the house and lament the slow loading of complex/multimedia webpages … is there anything else that i should bear in mind, in order to get that additional bandwidth ?
Netbook already has inbuilt wireless capability … is there any confict if you add the additional dongle ? a need to manually select the netbook signal path.

Shipping is $7 to Victoria. Is this modem stable?

    • yep sorry, made a typo in my comment, fixed now

  • I'm looking it up now, but is this DD-WRT (or similar) capable?

EDIT: looks like the answer is no: to quote the DD-WRT search I just ran, "To less flash memory to run DD-WRT"

    • Computer says…no!

      • Nah, checked it as well, dd-wrt doesn't work on this.

  • Bought one, thanks!

  • Ten bucks for a wireless router, I never thought I'd see the day…even with shipping it's a great deal! :)

  • A good router to increase my IPTV range!

  • Please excuse my lack of knowledge (I'm confused)
So if I purchase this, do I stil need my ADSL2+ Modem?

    Thanks

    • +3

yes you will, this is just a wireless router that you can plug into a modem and transmit the signal throughout your house.

      • Thanks

  • If you can't bridge this modem with DD-WRT then is there any way I can have this device in another room and use it's 4-port ethernet to connect a desktop, Xbox 360, and PVR/Media Player?

I bought one anyway because It was cheap and black (not like my white Netgear modem/router).

    • Run a cable down the corridor from the modem to the router.
It may support WDS, but it is not listed on the Belkin site on their WDS setup page.

EDIT: from looking through the Manuals from both the 1000 and 3000 versions of this router, it doesn't look like it does support WDS.
So running a cable down the hallway is your only option… (or paying a cabler to run a cable through your walls. It's illegal to do so yourself)

      • Not what I want to do as it's going upstairs.

Only option to get this to work is to install an extra phone port and get a compatible modem/router.

        • Ethernet over Power could be another option.

      • or buy a powerline adaptor(costs less than the cabler) ;)

Ok, this is just a wireless router with no ADSL2+ ability.

    • Awesome, thanks for clarifying that, i haven't been able to find that info anywhere. Do you know if it has a WAN port?

      • Sure it has, this is where you plug your modem in :)

  • +1

    Got it for $11.90
    $16.90 - $5 Giveaway credit = $11.90 wooooooooooooowoooo

  • Just bought one for $11.90! Awesome!

  • cheap but can't think of a use… maybe a skip this time…

    • You can hook it up to your old router and make a great wifi range :)

      • I have a newer belkin router and would like to extend the range. How do i do it with this router? And will it still allow my ADSL2+ connection to run fast?

        • There are many ways depends on your router spec, Anyway here is a good and easy way:
          http://www.labnol.org/internet/connect-two-routers/13517/

        • This wont affect your ADSL speed as it's not an ADSL modem. It's just a router for home networking.
You can't range extend with this router as it doesn't have that feature

        • @scubacoles If his router support AP or Repeater mode then he can connect this new router to his router.
EDIT: Even if his router doesn't support those modes then he can follow the article in my previous comment

  • Whether it can be used as a WAP?

  • i missed the $5 giveaway credit.
anyone want to give me one?

    • too late…..it was buried by the mob almost as soon as it was posted….

  • Bought one from Centrecom 3 months ago for $39 then it broke 1 month ago because of the wire issue. Good service with their warranty department as they offer life time warranty.

    • NB: "life time" is for the lifetime of the product line.
This one looks to be nearing its end.

      • It was written on their box. I thought life time means is the life time span of the product. Anyways, I just checked belkin's website and life time warranty is no longer existed. They offer 1 year limited warranty instead.

  • Thanks OP! Bought 2, one for replacing my old router's B Wireless, another as a spare or a 4 port switch!

  • As this is a "smallfish" does this expire at 12 midday tomorrow? ie only 24 hours on sale, or is it onsale to they sell out?
Reason I ask they have 20% off coupon after midday tomorrow……more savings…….

  • Says expired at the top, but I can still get to it…….as above do smallfish only last 24 hours or until they are sold out?

  • Still seems available atm and the coupon code ILOVEAUSTRALIA worked.

    • Damn it, could've saved $2 :D

      • lucky me..thanx nvox

      • +1

        It's actually a saving of $0.99. So don't feel bad. :)

        $9.95 - $5 credit = $4.95.

        $4.95 - %20 = $3.96

        $3.96 + $6.95 postage = $10.91.

        • Yeah, I just checked and you're right :)

  • How many do they have in stock?
    Its still available.
