I wonder how much better it would play GTA Vice City than the TP-Link.

  • Kudos to OP for mentioning that this router has 4x4 transmit/receive antennas on both frequencies. This is good. Not sure that it can be fully claimed as WiFi-7 though since it does not support 6ghz frequencies and 320mhz channel width. Personally I would be happy with a dual band router where I had the option to switch between 5Ghz and 6Ghz on the high frequency band depending on my needs.

    • 4K-QAM and MLO usually defines Wifi 7

Contiguous and non-contiguous 320/160+160 MHz and 240/160+80 MHz bandwidth

      160+160 is fine by spec.

Been this price for a bit, been watching it. It's not triband so hoping it will go lower, but the 2x 10Gbit and 4x 2.5 is unique.

    • i am waiting for it to drop more price too. 10G to connect NAS and PC would be good…

      • Yeah, nice specs but not the right price imo

  • Would this be a worthwhile upgrade from an AX88U?

  • Hows the buffering, latency on these new wifi 7 router? Is it click and view or have to wait? Like wifi 6

    • Wifi6 wasnt known to be notably slow.
Sounds more like you have speed or (more likely) DNS issues.

Even wifi DraftN managed latency that was undetectable outside of online gaming.

You might have neighbors that also have wifi in your area too, in which case you would want to both ask them to turn down their radio strength. And you'd want to set your wifi to narrower bands (say, 20-40mhz). It sounds counterintuitive because its 'slower' in raw theoretocal throughput, but by having less devices interfering with its narrow channel width, you'll usually see a notable improvement in latency.

Also make sure you're set to short preamble. Almost nothing uses long anymore, but most routers still default to it to avoid support calls.

      • Thanks for the long explanation, quite a technical stuff here to understand. I am using Google public dns or sometimes CloudFlare DNS.

I also used 1gig internet but no difference so i downgraded. I'm using 20/40 but that's for 2.4ghz. for 5g it goes to 80mhz
What i found is that the YouTube and query respond but slower. So i thought through wifi 7 it will be faster resolver

        • Nope, wifi is not your slowdown unless you have many close neighbours with it also.

Wifi is a 'polite' technology, so even if you're on different networks, you share the same airspace, so you have to wait until its your turn to use it.

Try 9.9.9.9 as your dns and see if its any better, of cloudflare (1.1.1.1) isnt doin it for ya.

          • @MasterScythe: If i set my own channel, a low one, it works for one day then completely off and need to set automatically. For a while works better but it will go offline after few hours. So i set 2.4ghz on a lower channel. And 5ghz on auto. I'll try 9999
