These are pretty old (i.e. definitely no WiFi 6), but they have two 5ghz radios and support a reasonably painless OpenWrt installation (at least no soldering…): https://openwrt.org/toh/asus/lyra_map-ac2200

There aren't many (any?) other tri-radio devices that support OpenWrt in this price tange that I could find. That is, if you'd like to run OpenWrt and you want to quickly increase the range of any WiFi network, as long as your router supports WDS they're pretty good extenders:

    • turn on WDS on your main router
    • connect one of the 5ghz radios on a Lyra to it
    • use the other two radios as Access Points (with the other 5ghz on a different channel to avoid interference)

They're also selling them individually on ebay, so you could also use them as your primary router if you're on a budget.

    Sold by "Seal-A-Deal Australia".

Our last bulk order has just about run out. Couldn't find any current deals on OzB, so have done the shop around and this was the best price/each I could find online today - for a "powerball" tablet - argh so many options, so confusing, entirely deliberate tactic by the manufacturer…

Anyway no guarantee this is the BEST price out there, but I spent some time checking all the usual haunts, if you can do better, then share it.

Don't waste time and money. All day price at Aldi for 14 cents per tablet if you don't mind the brand:

Yeah, I read reviewer who compared the ingredient at the back of the pack, the ingredients are same except these have some extra ingredients, further investigation turns out those extra ingredients are the colourings

      • +2

This. Aldi tablets are my go to tablets. I honestly don't understand why anyone would buy anything else and spend more money when these do the job.

        • +2

I get a lot for free from companies to test them. Aldi is unbeaten so far. Best price good results.

          • @SBOB: Already tried it and it was terrible.
It left cloudy haze on any plastic containers.

      • Haven't had much luck with those in the past and also read somewhere that they changed the ingredients since they were even good. As I said in the post I was after a "powerball" tablet, the post was for anyone else looking for the same thing, save them a few minutes. So easy to find here.. maybe this site would be better if nobody posted anything, hey?

I've been keeping an eye on these. Over the past couple of days, I've been given a seller offer of ~$416 for each different colour. The current coupon codes MS15SEP+MS17SEP (eBay Plus) apply at checkout => $353/$345

I haven't done anything special to get the seller offer. Just viewing the item a few times over the weekend, haven't added to watch list or anything.

Absolute bargain for machines that are allegedly brand new, I've read that often they are just box damaged or unused, returned stock.

    • +3

These are great machines. Highly recommend at that price!

    • In some listings there is an option to make a best offer price, but to confirm in this instance you just received a message in your inbox with a seller offer after visiting the listing a few times?

      • That's correct, I received a "seller offer" for all 3 listings. Was at least 24hrs after viewing the listing.

        • thanks for confirming, will wait and see if it comes my way as well

@sena86: They top up stock frequently, so don't FOMO

@Azro: Yeah they top up the stock levels once or twice a week

It is an eBay sale for 4080 Super. Although Blackwell is on the way, nVidia won't let it out without huge price hikes; so 40 series still have the value. 4080 super has comparable performance with 4090 but much cheaper price and stock level. • +1

Is there much difference between the brands atm? Thermals, warranty, reliability? Should i spend a little extra for Msi instead of pny?

      • +1

Everyone has their own brand loyalty. Most brands have had some production issues or engaged in shady practices, so pick and choose whatever suits you best. For example, I personally dislike ASUS and will never pay the "OMG I'm an elite gamer" tax they add to the price of their products. PNY has had a long-standing partnership with Nvidia, manufacturing their workstation production cards. They don't spend much on advertising, so they aren't as well-known as other brands. However, their consumer gaming cards don't necessarily have the highest-quality parts either. For the average user, this won't matter, but if you try to overclock a cheaper card from a manufacturer like PNY or Galax, you'll have a harder time getting it stable compared to a card from ASUS, MSI, etc., which use more durable capacitors and other electronic components.

Since we are in Australia, we have fewer issues with warranty drama than people in the US, so I wouldn't put much weight on warranties.

Basically, buying a PNY card is a good decision because they have great quality control, given their experience with workstation cards, and their cards perform well. Now that EVGA isn't in the market anymore, PNY has said they plan to focus more on the gaming market to expand their reach. I expect they'll gain more of the reputation they deserve in the future.

It's been down to ~$1402 before. This is barely any real discount over typical street prices.

If you weren't convinced back then, or any time the past year, why would this price suddenly be attractive now?

      • that is plain version; so basically it depends on how much you would pay for LEDs
