    Good work OP!

Syd gets a month and gets a week? Seems fair

I had used Taxify few times since they launched, overall it's pretty hard to get driver around my area in the morning (0500-0600) but compared to Uber there's lots of drivers around.

One thing that you needs to be aware the driver have the ability get to know your destination so they have the opportunity to accept your job your or not.

Few days ago when I used Taxify in morning there's two drivers around and one didn't accept my job and another driver accepted and less than min later he cancelled my job.

Lodged complaint to Taxify and I've got told their driver have the ability to know customer destination and received $5 voucher for compensation.

at least they didn't turn up & then refuse to tske you, like a real does (but shouldn't).

So, they're launching today… how does a driver sign up and get on the road same day? Assuming there's a delay - vehicle inspections, background checks, etc. then wouldn't you think there would be no drivers on day 0?

    • +5

The driver sign up process has been going for a couple of months, so drivers should have already gone though these checks.

  • +3

Really wanted this to succeed but just impossible to get a driver.

    • +4

It took a few days post-launch in Sydney before enough drivers were on the road. Give it some time.

I requested a Taxify from Brighton-Le-Sands, NSW (next to the airport) on Sunday 1pm.. couldn't find drivers

I'm with you, really want this to succeed (just for the lower commission for drivers) but looking in the Melb CBD at the moment only 3 drivers
I really hope this picks up soon here

Same here. I hate Uber with a passion and am hoping another player can get some footprint here.

        • Why hate Uber?

Watch out for dodgy extra fees from drivers and Taxify not replying to support messages. Had to initiate a charge back from my credit card. No phone number and only chat messages in their app to which they don’t reply

Edit: Just checked the app and they finally replied to their chat system 2 days later acknowledging their “glitch” even though she said she “confirmed with the driver that we took the Tunnel”.

Offered refund, so let’s see how long for another response confirming and the funds hitting my credit card

My wifes account was hacked on Uber - same deal couldnt contact them when the kicked me out of the login

Had to message them on facebook and got a response straight away

  • Wondering what does taxify partner referral code get for drivers (referrer and prospective driver)? The code field is on the driver signup page

    • Anyone…?

Uber has a booking fee of 55c. So it is exactly the same price as Uber.
The downside is less drivers at the moment. The up side is the surge is capped at 1.5.
I am surprised they didn't try to undercut uber to get drivers and customers.

  • Someone should invent an app that sits in front of all these, and based on availability, timing, cost and surge, order the car through the appropriate platform for you..
put your cc, name etc details in the app and it passes them through to the appropriate app when booking ..

Customers win with a single app and the best platform to get a car through, and drivers get jobs coming through no matter which company they are with ..

    • It's a good idea but none of the platforms would make this data available publicly.

      • +2

Ubers live pricing data is available via developer api. I have uber pricing synced to my homeassistant frontend

Can you see the location of cars?

      • Err works in India with Ola, Uber and other platforms, would take millions to be developed here though. Have a look at assistant apps in India like Haptik, Nuki, etc

  • their eta used to be total crap but that has gotten better by the looks of it

  • As a real test case, tried searching for Melbourne airport pickup none available for the past minutes. Map does not reliably show Taxify cabs on the map though moving and zooming in out same area brings up ghost Taxify vehicles but disappear when zooming in/out so not sure if accurate. Will just Uber instead for now.

Melbourne Airport pickups aren't available until some time in February (~2 weeks) as per here.

  • Did anyone get charged an overseas transaction fee by their credit card company for using Taxify? Looking at my statement from December, ANZ charged me an overseas transaction fee in addition to the fare by Taxify?

    • Yes, OS transaction fee (3%) charged. Taxify don't seem all that keen to switch to an AU based payment processor, so I won't bother once the 50% discount is gone.

Hey guys - just want to comment on my experience with Taxify tonight
It was basically the same as Uber when we used it at about 6pm to get from north melb to southbank - we only waited about 5min
However at about 10:30pm when we tried to get it back to north melbourne it couldnt find any drivers to use.
I would say its a decent platform but just needs more people and drivers using it and it could be as good if not better than uber.

  • 50% off fares is quite attractive!

  • Taxify is great. I just caught two rides with promos for less than $5. It was same as Uber (probably same drivers) with reasonable wait times. Will definitely use again. Thanks OP

  • I used it tonight and the ride was free with the $10 off code - travelled from Collingwood to Caulfield at around midnight. Only waited less than 5 mins for the car and it was just as good (if not better) than uber. Will use again!

    • Did you manage to use 50% and $10 off on the same ride? How did you do it?

      • Yes. The 50% off was just automatically applied.

        • Thanks for the reply. I am going to the airport this Thursday. Hopefully double discounts would be still available.

  • Any driver referral bonuses or sign up incentives?

  • So good, thanks for sharing Neil! Used it to get to the city and home last night :)

  • Is this offer still running?

    • App says 40% off now. Have marked expired.

  • Now 30% off

  • +1

    Now no further discount

  • I took one today for the first time. It said happy hour 25% off and with my $20 voucher, the cost came to $1.82. The driver said he uses both taxify and uber and takes whichever he can get. He said there are not enough passengers on taxify yet so numbers need to increase for it to work well.
