  • TLD ( "EU" ) suggests this may not be a thing in AU…?

Also, is it an Uber clone, or what?

If so, sounds like Taxis may soon be a thing of the past, &
the Ubers & similar businesses may compete, like deli's,
as they should be allowed to do, IMO.

    No more costly "taxi plates"…

    Just buy & maintain a safe+clear
& attractive vehicle, driven by a
    sane+service-oriented driver,
going out - eg, on peak-demand
times - so fewer need wait, too
long, for a ride home when out
    late.

TLD ( "EU" ) suggests this may not be a thing in AU…?

It's just recently launched in Sydney.

  • App says it’s valid for first ride only..

    • Gives me an error that says "Invalid promo code".

      • Hmm, didn't say it for me. But also, I haven't taken a ride yet

Its still very new. I wasn't able to get a taxi using this app on Saturday night in Sydney CBD. The app kept saying try again later for almost half an hour. Ended up catching a normal taxi instead which surprising costed less than the uber estimate cost.

Download Gocatch you can get taxi and rideshare whichever you like.

      • Or Rydo. I'm sure there are others too.

  • What? clicked expecting App to do my Tax return… ATO has been doing this for years

      Wow..good on you..

  • Does not work for me

  • Experience so far has been poor. Got one at Syd airport and $15 to Darling Harbour in a Mercedes B series was good. After that, tried to use it on 8 occasions with no drivers nearby error. Ended up using Uber for all those other journeys. Even gocatch could not get me a taxi!!!

I've tried using it 4 times in the last week and seen only 1-2 cars available in the entire Sydney region (from Penrith to the coast). Checking now there seems to be 4-5 cars within 10km or so of me, but they'll need to bulk up their driver base before they become useful.

    Is it even in Melbourne?

  • Used twice now and with 50% off excellent deal. Driver told me Uber is guaranteeing surge in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney and when it gets to about 10pm he is using Uber to pick up surge rides as any surge is still better than Taxify Incentives.

    • I had an uber driver lecture me about using taxify and how Uber was shit (While I was using Uber) When I said I tried and it said no drivers were in the area so I just used Uber and why isn't he using it he said the exact same thing.

I did love the hypocrisy of it. Uber will (profanity) them over long term but because of extremely short term gains the drivers will flee Taxify in a heartbeat so it will be easy for Uber to make them irrelevant.

      • Don't discount Taxify, read what they did (Taxify who is owned by Didi) to Uber in China.

        • No it's the drivers I am discounting.

I just found it amazing while a driver was lecturing me about not using Taxify he wasn't using it himself.

Hardly any cars available even in sydney cbd…

    • Seconded. I've tried copping a ride home from my office on Macquarie Street at 5-7pm for the past few nights. Of the maybe 10/11 times I've tried getting a ride, I got one twice.

First time, guy was in The Rocks (15m away BC traffic). He called me, asked where I was going and when I told him, he cancelled the trip. Second time, the guy was in Rose Bay and said he'd be 20 minutes away. F$#k that.

Also the app is buggy as crap and keeps jumping around all the time. On a Samsung Note 8.

The one time I did cop a ride was from North Strathfield to the CBD at like 9:30 am. Was ok.

      Overall, wouldn't recommend unfortunately.

  • Nearest car 30 minutes away, cancelled.

  • A duo Taxify/Uber driver gets promised surge rates from Uber. Riders get A) no Taxify drivers and B) expensive Uber rates. Great market competition. I'd say there's a case against the market dominator.

  • unfortunately, there was no service available when I wanna book at 00:30 Sunday at Burwood.

  • Dead this new service no drivers. Tried to book one twice now

  • Tried and failed to get a taxi Friday evening in Sydney CBD, no drivers. Pass.

  • My wife uses Taxify to go from Castle Hill to Westmead Hospital for her regular physio sessions. Driver usually also with uber. Driver leaves in North Parramatta and have to drive to Castle Hill to fetch her. I pity him because he charged only $17 for the trip.

  • How do you select a car with 6 seats such as UberXL ?

  • Au10 is no longer valid. But using my referral code can net $10 off first ride, not to mention that I get $10 for everyone who use my code. But I have no idea where to add it as the last referral is only $5

    • AU10 worked fine for me yesterday, though it was useless as I couldn't find any drivers in melb cbd all night

  • Watch out as Taxify and their driver Simon are dodgy. They added Cross City Tunnel Toll charge even though we didn’t take the Tunnel. Don’t have a phone number and simply reply that Simon says they took the Tunnel and that their GPS glitches near the entry of the Tunnel so therefore we took the Tunnel. Will ask them if proof of the toll.
