    What's RRP?

    • +8

      This is the RRP.

      • +9

Then it's not a bargain. RRP = the maximum price payable for a car.

        • -1

if op changed their avatar to something less ugly this deal wouldn't be as controversial.

        • +9

Yeah, I don't know why people are considering this a "deal"…
You may as well get a model 3 Tesla for about the same…

        • +1

How is it "maximum"? It is a recommended price.

        • Why i cant neg this more?

        • -5

          @0p:

Yeah, except the Tesla is absolute rubbish unless you enjoy the soulless silence of electric power. Not that the V6 in the 370z is a symphony, but still.

        • @angers:

When it comes to RRP, the word "maximum" is just implied. It's the same with any item that carries a RRP, whether it's electronics, games, movies, etc. They will quite often be sold below the RRP, but never above it.

      • +1

        no deal, then!

      Recommended Retail Price

      • About time someone said this. There are so many incorrect and mixed RRP definitions in the comments.

    • -6

RRP is what used to be the price.

New price is old price less discount because the product is no longer competitive.

      IOW:
New model 380TT is coming soon.

      Old model slow due to:
      - ancient engine (2007)
      - more compelling competition
      - poor marketing, publicity, design, quality or supply problems, <insert appropriate reason here>

The current Z cars are nice sports cars, but I'd not buy a vehicle that isn't developed by a well resourced group of German engineers. Even a Camry, lol. I'd rather use a car-share car than invest in something with so many visual, let alone functional compromises.

Ahah… tell the truth watch the deniers down-vote it!

No wonder fake news destroyed the world already, everyone's 'checked out'

        • +1

@zerovelocity: Wow, you went from its not a good car to fake news destroyed the world!

        • @spillmill: If fake news isn't wrecking anything, what exactly is it achieving?

I said it was nice, not no good. Def not a bad car. It's just that it could be so much better, And at this much there are a lot of fun alternatives.

        • @zerovelocity:
Thanks for previous comment. I get it fine.

        • +1

          @ggrant: It's okay. ;-)

I'm used to it. The lurkers neg to knife anyone that pokes their head up.

So in summary, new RRP for a car? Is this a better investment than an $80k BMW?

    • +28

A car is NEVER an financial investment….. unless its super rare but those are usually in the 500+k range….
But if you are looking as a investment in other aspects, like people use it to pick up their potential partners etc…. then maybe it is a investment then.

      • +180

But if you work at Westpac, $80k BMW is considered as high-yield investment tool for your banking job.

      • you beat me to it

      • It could be a financial investment. Buy it, store it in a container for 20years and then sell it.

      • Many cheaper cars have gone up in value in their initial release too, not years later…

      • +2

Sometimes cars can be good investments - the first people who took delivery of the Mustang in early 2016 were able to sell them for a 15-20k profit.

      • +1

Not necessarily true… plenty of cars well and truly under 500k that are appreciating. At the moment, Japanese sports cars from the 90s era are heavily going up in value.
Nissan R32-34 GTRs, Honda NSX, Toyota Supra just to name a few. Very rare examples that are essentially factory condition with extremely low mileage are selling for crazy money.

      • +1

I somewhat disagree with you. My brother purchased his White 2004 Mitsubishi Evo 8 MR for $28,888 in 2012 (private seller was Chinese). The value at the time was $32k. Car had 34xxx km with Japan Auction grade 5 papers. Had a few tasteful and genuine mods such as Evo 9 front and rear bar, Advan RS racing wheels, front carbon lip, rear complete carbon spoiler, Kansai rear strut bar, Kansai polarised folding mirrors, brand new car smell inside. This car was and still is immaculate inside out. Car now has 40xxx km, is garaged, gets driven once a week at most no more than 50km.

You go to Carsales right now and find me an immaculate white Evo 8 MR with 40xxx kms at that price. I'd say It's worth $40k now.

Oh and we maintain the car ourselves by buying oils and filters for half price so maintenance hasn't been much (touchwood).

No car other than collectibles are investments :)

Bought a ground up restored Datsun 260z coupe (notice the lineage) in 2011 for $17K, has cost me $54/year in rego and ~$180/year full comp insurance. Currently, they trading anywhere from 35K up (for clean rust free examples).

If you wait long enough they become collectible

        • +3

          a 260Z is desirable

          these standard 370Z aren't

        • how come rego is that low?

        • @enzioFirenze:

Probably in a car club, can only drive on club days/events and be a member of the club

        • +3

How long do I have to wait for my corolla to appreciate?

        • +1

          @HeXa:

240z is much more desirable ;)

        • +1

          @montorola:

          That time will never come

        • @bti_jet: tru dat! goes without saying!

          but I would happily own a 240Z, 260Z or 280Z

        • @enzioFirenze: historical rego

        • +2

Datsun Z's are the exception, not the rule

Partly because there aren't that many left as they were prone to rust.

Wanted to buy one for $5k in 2000, my dad advised me not to, unless I liked repairing rust. Still want one though

        • +1

          @captaincabinets:

yep, i bought one in 1998 for $5500. Looked beautiful, until i seen the massive holes under the door sill trims, and noticed the bonnet hinge on one side was surrounded by rust. Quickly let it go for $6500 haha

        • i have 2 of them but unfortunately the rust has somewhat wrecked the body on both. Probably should get around to parting them out, one has a reconditioned l28 and the other has a 5 speed.

        • @montorola: Corollas are perfect nuggets! best runaround cars :)

    • -5

This car is Better than all BMW s except for M4.

      • +1

Haha nice to meet you troll.

        • +1

I see you are easily deceived by slick German marketing…….BMW are less Reliable than Toyota…..

        • +1

@djcharliek:Reliability is just one metric people use when choosing a car to buy. And you compare Toyota, which is essentially a white good on wheels, no soul no character, to BMW which is fun to drive.

    • +6

Don't forget on road costs mate. Stamp duty, rego, ctp, and those extras that you were too naive to say no to!

      • +13

Damn it I bought the $20k paint protection too… I forgot about that.

  • +24

Why are the comments always terrible on any deal posted here over $5,000?

    • +31

      Because reasons

      • do you mean raisins?

    • +14

Because most of people do not have $ in the pocket.

      • +3

They don't have to have it in their pocket :)

        • +2

Oh sweet I can use PayPal, cash rewards and jbhifi gift cards??

    • +6

I wouldn't say $5000 mate. Generally I find when a large amount of people can't afford it they say it's not a bargain (even though it could be).

People forget it's OzBargain not OzTightA$$

    • +3

because it isnt a deal, it is the standard RRP price from Nissan.

  • +2

I'm only 34 so not sure if I'm ready yet for this middle life crisis personified set of wheels.
