It's got both style and design.

Too bad you can't have them both together.

      • +1

Comprehension no good? "and" implies both.

  • does V2X, so free electricity to grow…. lettuce?

Only 7A though, which is going to really limit your lettuce growing capability.

"While Leapmotor may be new to Australia, you can drive with confidence knowing we’re part of the Stellantis family, a global leader in automotive innovation, and supported by our growing national dealer network."

This statement is hilarious.. The company is in financial trouble.

I personally think it's a nicely equipped/priced car but the lack of Android Auto/ Carplay (which supposedly can't be retrofitted) and parent company's troubles are enough to warrant caution

      This.
They clearly fumbled this. How is an Electric car which is supposed to be the forefront of technology lacking something that’s been basic in low end ICE cars for the past 10 years.

    • Tesla and Polestar also don't give you apple carplay or Android auto, yet I don't see people complaining about that…

The connected services in this are apparently excellent, however I would want to be able to access Google maps on the native interface (not available in the Leapmotor app store unfortunately)

        You aren't looking very hard..

Also they are huge brands that have loyal (and sometimes deluded) buyers that don't care for basic functions.

Leapmotor is a new brand to Australia and they need to capture market share.
Launching a car on an aging platform (3.0) with missing features.. while also spruiking that the refresh (3.5) will support them and faster charging (coming soon) is a death sentence and the glacial sales are showing that.

They need to either cut the price of this model or offer some sort of retrofit infotainment path.

I think there is something like 60+ new EV models coming to Aus in the next 18 months.. You can't bring your B squad at this time

They're not really owned by stellantis at all. 20%. All the Chinese company is doing is trading on the name to borrow heritage and trust "we're a euro car company" when they're just like all the other Chinese companies.

Like using the MG badge to trade on it's heritage.

      • +1

I would argue a very low percentage of MG buyers these days are even aware of the heritage..

People buy MG as they are super cheap, 10 year warranty and are well equipped with basic things like Android Auto and Carplay

They also have a fairly fleshed out dealer/servicing network

    • Which is more of a problem now than it was 20 years ago. With so much software security, and serialized parts, if you buy a car and the manufacturer goes out of business, later if something breaks it's going to be almost impossible to fix it.

  • +1

Current model does not have Android Auto or Apple Carplay and cannot be fitted either according to media.

    First-class Comfort and Serenity

    NOW!

Don't do it! At best it will see a 30% drop as EV price war continues, and at worst they will leave Australia soon considering they only send 1 unit in January!
Either way, no rational reason to buy this right now!

  • Not a bad offer for those that don't have access to charging. Shame the first batch are missing CarPlay and Android Auto.

Put in a request for a test drive when they first announced these were coming out last November. Put in another request on their website in December and then again in early January. Never had anyone call me back to organise one, not sure they've really sold me on their service. Given up on them and moved on to other options.

    • "We are currently experiencing high volume of calls…" thing I guess.

      • Not with that long a delay, only a fool wouldn't load up their call centre hours before a release they wanted to sell. At the end of the day, you just need an appointment setter to handle the bookings.
