Anyone used these before? Is it possible to manual input IR codes into them?

  • is it good as a logitech

  • Here is the manual if someone wants to take a look:

The fact that comes with that many VCR and CD codes makes it look like it might be a 20 year old product.

Maybe, but also possible it's just inheriting the codes from earlier models.

I'd be searching for something that supports my specific model, before falling back to something generic like this.

It's learning so there's no doubt you will be able to get this to work for you. I have a very similar model Aldi, and it was great except:

        1. If it doesnt have a code for your device all the buttons for that device need to be learned, and let's face it with all the chinese and Android devices these days you will probably have at least one
        2. Learning takes time and is a bit of a pain to set up, and you need your original remote to learn from
        3. Even if it has all your devices by code, there are still buttons missing from your genuine remote often that need to be learned
        4. Considering points 1 and 3, the real killer is that you will end up exhausting the number of programmable buttons and start to have to be selective about what you program in (on my remote I think it was 28 or 30)

All things considered, you could look at not buying this and saving 16 bucks off a logitech harmony, which has none of the above issues. Having said that I used one for about 4-5 years and it was great up to a point, when I had relatively simple to intermediate needs.

  • I guess it's a bargain, but I'd recommend spending the extra $40 or so and get a harmony 650.
