"We have detected a possible link between you and the original poster or the store itself." - WTF? Maybe OP and I live near each other?

    • +1

      Is your isp TELSTRA?

    • +11

Maybe you're a sockpuppet macro that has become self aware.

    • Do you use a VPN? Maybe both of you are using the same provider?

      • Nope, iinet is the ISP, no VPN either. OP appears to be in Brisbane also, possibly close to ky location (post code 4000).

  • ——-Earn bonus $125.00 cashback at Telstra—— Wow .. and hows that possible?

    • When you take out a mobile plan

    • Cashback is only available when you take up a new phone on a 24 month Go Mobile Plus plan and handset repayment

  • Will buy this just to get the free telstra air wi fi offer

    • +3

Wouldn't a $2 sim work just as well for that?

      • i tried it but it required a data plan to access the service..

        • +3

nope, i use telstra air and i activated a $2 sim

        • @hmtk: Okay i will try with the free online sim card offer from telstra but i don't think its gonna work

        • @mokr: you need to go onto the website somewhere and accept terms and conditons for telstra air before you can use it. Took me a while to do tbh

        • +1

@hmtk: can't find it do you have a link? the telstra air terms and conditions page, thanks

  • All these sims are the same right(can be activated under any phone/mobile broadband/tablet plan)?

    • +1

From the Ozbargain guide - The SIMs in the Mobile or Tablet Kits are identical, and can be activated on any offer. There is no difference aside from the packaging.

      • Thank you for confirming!

    • Yes, choose plan when activating

      • Cheers mate

  • +3

These are not what they use to be since the removal of Google Play rewards from new plans. You use to be able to get 30 days data, or 30 days phone with $30 credit PLUS use the $30 on Google Play as well. And they were down as cheap as $1. Now…the value isn't there in these and there are cheaper options.

    • What's best for cheap tablet prepaid?

      • +1

It'll really depend on coverage where you want to use the Tablet.

Voda has their $40 starter pack for $20 giving you 6GB…I think normally the $30 sim gives you 4GB (use to be 3 but I got 4 when I activated my last one, last month).

Optus has $10 starter packs that will give you 5 days of usage in a 30 day period with 500MB/day (with another $2 for another 500MB if you go over that) and you'll only be charged for days your data is turned on. If you go for long periods without using your tablet that might be a good one to use. There was an offer on the $30 starter not long ago. Don't know if that's still going.

Then there are a bunch of resellers - Woolworths, Amaysim and the like - some have 3G sims for cheaper than 4G….but I have no first hand experience with them and another Ozbargainer should be able to help you out.

        • Thank you for your detailed reply

        • @jhk365:

You're most welcome. Happy to have that added to (or corrected…I'm having a shocker of a day today for making mistakes).

    • +2

its still the cheapest option for google play credit though since google play gcs rarely go more than 20% off

      • -1

…IF you have an older account to transfer the credit to.

        • +5

Simplicity and long life plans still have the credits available for use. I still have the 5 dollar starter packs I bought in 2015 and activated on those plans and it works for Google credits.

        • @Aced21:

Thanks for the info. Putting it bluntly I've been doing it long. Losing $1.50 per sim since the changes.

        • +1

@Aced21: So activate on simplicity or long life, and you can use the $30 for Google Play purchases?

        • +1

@lovepeoplenotmoney: Yep, just activate on those and you can take your time in using the credits. Simplicity being 60 days and Long life being 6 months. I personally use Long Life because I usually don't know what to buy. The T&Cs say the restriction is only for pre-paid plus plans, not the others.

Telstra probably has 6 sim cards under my name haha.

Edit: just make sure you don't turn on data because you lose credits that way.

        • @Aced21: Worked relatively well, really appreciate your affirmation!

    • You use to be able to get 30 days data, or 30 days phone with $30 credit PLUS use the $30 on Google Play as well.

Yeah the Google play credit was still working for the datapass plan back in January then they removed it on the new datapass ii plans :/

And they were down as cheap as $1

Wasn't that for the Woolies ones? The cheapest I've bought the Telstra sims were $5

Was even better when store staff didn't know it was suppose to be one per customer.

        • I was just about to edit my comment after seeing your link down below! ^^

I hadn't bought Telstra sims that long ago ><

You can activate on Pre-Paid Plus and get 1.5GB + 1.5GB data, $700 Call Credit and $30 recharge credit. To use the recharge credit on Google Play change the offer after activation.

pretty sure these are $10 at australia post shops at the moment - assuming stock.
its in their catalogue saw it instore today

      The days

$1 were even better! Especially when store staff were confused about how many you could buy after spending $30 in store.

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/194025

      • I have only one left….

        • If you buy enough of them for both data and Google Play you'd start having to worry about expiry.

I don't think we'll ever see the likes of this again.

Although I also got a bunch of the $10 Optus sims for $1 from the 7/11 deal.

My post-paid plan now gives me 11GB so I dont' miss carrying around a dongle as well as my phone and worrying about whether someone at work was using the microwave (interfering with WIFI between phone and dongle).

        • +2

Woolies $1 Starter Pack deal was 27 months ago. Have been using $1 Telstra SIMs from a few deals since then.

Using 2nd last $1 one now, with 1 more $1 Starter Pack left to use by May expiry. Paying more than $1 will be a shock after so many free or $1 SIMs😯

        • @Infidel: I also have a few Woolworths Mobile starter packs obtained for $1 to get through by August. I have one $1 Kogan left too.

  • How to go around just one per customer? Different email/account? But will it be okay to send them all to the same address?

    • I don't think there is a limit. Bought two without any issues.

  • How can you save the credit ie keep the account in bulk credit to pay for Google Play and Netflix

  • +1

    The wiki is tlsidr.
    Could anyone tell me-

Can this be used for Google play?

    • +1

      Yes.

Activate it under simplicity and you can use for Google Play.

Please note it does not offer much data on call under simplicity plan.

    • +3

Activate under prepaid plus to get all your normal bonuses. Change your plan to simplicity and use the $30 on Google play or creditme2u to another sim on (long life, say) to save the credit for later. Change the sim plan back to prepaid plus or you won't be able to use your bonuses.

      • +1 - This is what I do and it works great, however I have noticed that it doesn't always let you switch offers immediately after activating, that might be just me though.

        • Probably just you. I don't have that issue and I change plans pretty much immediately.

        • I've had that issue recently. After about 24-48 hours it fixed itself. It was initially quite frustrating.

      • Can you transfer credit from another prepaid to the simplicity SIM and use that on Google Play too?

        • +1

          Sure can

        • @aoiro: Awesome, I have hundreds of bucks tied up in a Telstra prepaid that needs transferring over!

        • +1

@thanatos6666: I suggest you do the transfer via online chat then, since creditme2u has a $10 limit per day. Online chat should be able to do this all at once (@25c per $10)

        • @aoiro:

When did you try the online chat? I was refused a few months ago…

        • @sp00ker: a fair while back, I transferred about $30 only though, things could have changed since…

      • That is interesting. Over what time frame do you go prepaid plus to simplicity and back to prepaid plus?

        • +2

I change to simplicity as soon as I get the activation SMS for prepaid plus, then take whatever time I need to spend all the credit on Google play or transfer via creditme2u, then straight back to prepaid plus so that I get to use my bonuses.

You don't have to do it that way. You could just use up all the bonuses first then change to simplicity after your calls and data are all used up, as long as you're careful not to go into your recharge credit by accident.

        • +1

I activate on Pre Paid Plus and change to Simplicity to CM2U the recharge credit out and change back to Pre Paid Plus to use the bonuses. With the saved #100# contacts, when the system is working properly, I can do it in a minute or two.

        • @sween64:
Aoiro & Sween64. Great. Thanks kindly for the tips. I will give it a go.

      • So, when you say "Activate under prepaid plus to get all your normal bonuses" and then "Change your plan to simplicity and use the $30 on Google play" do you do this right away after you select that plan? Or do you use the Pre-paid plus first and then before the expiry date you switch to the simplicity?

I'm confused… can you elaborate a little more on this?

        • It's up to you how you want to do it. Just know that you need to be on the prepaid plus plan (pppp) to use the bonuses and not on the pppp to spend on Google play or send creditme2u. You can change plans 10 times a year per sim I believe.

Eg, if you want to send your credit to another number, activate on pppp, change to simplicity, creditme2u $10 ($10 limit a day), switch back to pppp. You'll have about $20 left and get to use your pppp bonuses. Do it again a couple more times during the month and you've cleared your $30.

        • @aoiro:

you don't need to CM2U to another sim right? you can just use the whole $30 credit on Google Play and then switch back to pppp and still have the bonuses?

        • +1

          @CVonC: Correct

  • -1

actually telstra $30 gives you plenty of 3 gigs data.

    • +1

3 gigs not plenty for doing serious research/work for 4 weeks, plus its divided between 1.5GB night and half of it daytime.
      And forget about watching youtube.
Last time I ran out of data, my recharge credit was zapped within seconds, not happy Jan!
      ps: did not neg

      • -3

Hmm what clasify's as night and day?

PS:why not upvote to prove you didn't neg?

        • PS:why not upvote to prove you didn't neg?

Because I think the statement is incorrect.
I had to set a data limit on my phone. Previously (due to lots of complaints I'm told), if I ran out of data my main balance remained untouched. This was the case until late last year and Telstra wouldn't budge or credit me back.
As per this page, night data is * 8pm-8am AEST

        • Fair enough…
Some phones,(Cough, Android, Cough,) have this feature built in… You can't go over a set limit…
          Thank
          0p

      • +2

1.5GB+1.5GB night is for Pre Paid Plus.
If you activate on Data Pass II you will receive 3GB.

        • Just activated Data Pass II and it doesn't seem to allow to switch to other plans for the 30$ Google play credit. And the Google play credit is not available on the plan itself either.

        • @vasya: That's correct. You can ask a Telstra CSR to move you on to a mobile telephone offer but you can't do it yourself. When you activate a Starter Kit on Data Pass II you don't receive any recharge credit.

        • @sween64:
Thanks, so if I want to have Goole Play credit and more data the best choice is PPP, correct?

        • @vasya: Yes. You'll need to change offers to either CM2U the recharge credit out or spend it on the Google Play store. But you can have both data and credit to spend on Google Play.

  • Last ones I got had a December 2017 expiry. I have exactly enough to take me to December, so if these have the same expiry date, they will be useless for me.

    • Received today, expiry October 2018.

  • I recall from previous posts someone said that if you activate a new prepaid plus service you can still get $30 credit. Has anyone tested it?

    • +2

It is true. I've been activating Starter packs under PP+ every few weeks and have got the $30 credit that I C2U to my other Simplicity services while able to enjoy the 1.5Gb+1.5Gb data and $700 call credit

    • +2

I'm the same as bs-a. Note, you need to change offers away from Pre Paid Plus to be able to CM2U the recharge credit out.

      • Thanks guys. What if I only need to make Google Play purchases? Is plan change still necessary?

        • +2

          Yes

        • @sween64: Does this trick work for recharge as well? Eg. Recharge PP+ to get bonus -> switch over Simplicity to spend credit -> back to PP+ for the rest of 28days -> repeat at the end

        • +3

@MadMaxBargainRoad: No. Only for activation. When you recharge $30 on PP+ you don't receive any recharge credit.

        • @sween64: Awesome, great insight!

  • +7

Got two of each type at Officeworks for $14.25 via their price beat policy. Thanks headphonejack. No ID requirements, no waiting for delivery, no hassle.

  • Can anyone confirm if you receive an email post-order? I got stuck this morning on the last screen 'confirming your details this may take a few minutes' which eventually timed out, so not sure if the order processed or not.

    • +1

I received an email confirmation, but it went to junk mail, so I suggest you check there. Also, check to see if your credit card has been charged.

      • cheers nothing in either so i guess it didn't go through

        • Edit - my order was cancelled

  • Not a big fan of this deal. Even at half price, you're only getting $30 worth of call credit and 1.5GB of data - if you use it after night data expires on 8th May.

I bought one to try it out - but it won't take me long to burn through that much data.

The $30 Optus packs come with 3GB of data and they're only $10 at Woolworths.

    • -1

You're overlooking the big drawcard —> included $30 to spend on Google Play. Drop that $30 into Rebatr 2.0 and you get back $16.50 cash.

Thus the real deal is you profit $1.50 and you get a month worth of calls & data.

      • -1

Rebatr 2.0 isn't on Google Play. http://www.rebatr.com for Rebatr 2.0 beta.
Used to use Rebatr 1 before Google shut things down - got $16.50 cash in bank for $1 purchase of $30 Starter Pack, and used the calls & data😯

Can write your own simple app & get 70% back, less set up costs.
