Keen to get others thoughts on the machine as looking for a new washer but still weighing up whether it's worth buying new or going to the gumtree.

    "Doesn't post to Perth Metro".
EDIT: basically, shipping "Excludes: Northern Territory, NSW Regional, Perth Metro, QLD Far North, QLD Regional, SA Regional, Tasmania, VIC Regional, WA Regional, WA Remote, PO Box".

    • +4

This is incredibly annoying for us here at Appliances Online too!

The problem is (AFAIK) eBay only allows regional level exclusions instead of postcode level exclusions - see: http://pages.ebay.com.au/help/pay/shipping-costs.html
There are certain postcodes in eBay's Perth metro region that we can't deliver to for free.
For example, eBay's Perth Metro region covers the following post codes: 6000-6214, 6800-6999
      However, Appliances Online's trucks don't deliver to the following post codes: 6041-44, 6074, 6081-84, 6207, 6213-14
We do use a courier to delivery to these areas, but that means delivery is not free anymore.

When we had Perth Metro as a deliverable region, we received many complaints from Perth customers in those postcodes along the lines of, "Your eBay listing says you offer free delivery to me but your customer support team just called and said we don't deliver there for free".

The same was true for those other regions that we don't deliver to on eBay.
Essentially, eBay's regional zoning is not granular enough - we've had a few chats to eBay reps about this but they don't have a solution (yet).

However, if you want to buy from one of the eBay excluded regions but our website states that delivery is FREE to your postcode, you can definitely contact us on 1300 000 500 to organize an eBay order (essentially our people will make sure that your eBay order can be delivered for free).

      • I've confirmed with the rep that delivery is free to my postcode in Perth. However when I go to ebay checkout, the "Confirm and Pay" button is greyed out because my address is located in Perth. How do I get around this?

Update I called and the rep says they don't deliver this to Perth as there is no stock and it's superseded. I mentioned what you said about the postcodes and she didn't care and advised no stock and even if I could purchase it, it would be rejected later on. Can you confirm?

        • Update: Another rep advised to enter an eligible postcode, and call back with the order number to amend the address.

  • Weird how Appliances Online won't deliver to regional NSW via eBay, but free delivery via their website.

    • +2

We do deliver to most of regional NSW for free from our website however we have had to exclude the entire NSW regional area on our eBay store because eBay doesn't provide postcode level exclusions (afaik).

If you know that your NSW regional postcode gets free delivery from Appliances Online but the eBay store says we can't deliver to you, please call us on 1300 000 500 and our customer service team will ensure that you can still get free delivery and the 10% off.

      • Thanks, you guys are awesome and I'd recommend everyone to support you.

I've had a Bosch front loader for nearly 10 years I reckon.

The only issue we've had with it was with the front door seal…and it wasn't the fault of the machine. My daughter bit a chunk out of it.

    Great units.

    • +2

Sounds like your daughter has a drug problem. I'm sorry to hear it. Ice is a real scourge. ;-)

      • More like a rubber fetish!

    • I agree, I have a bosch too, they're amazing.

      • +1

Door seals are a bit bland and chewy though.

        • +2

          A lil salt fixes that.

Sooo tempted to jump on this and keep it in storage until our 17+ year old ASKO eventually breaks for good. Been such an excellent machine but it was one of the decent ASKOs when they used to be made in Sweden. I don't think I can be bothered with trying to strive for a quality Euro brand now that they've all gone to China so price is king and this Bosch is looking pretty good. I just know that when the ASKO does die (the shock absorbers have nearly worn out and new replacements are $250 for the part alone!) there wont be any decent deals. Oh the 1st world dilemmas of an OzBargainer ;)

We are, after all, 'professionals'. ;)

  • Are these ones made is Turkey?

    • +1

Bekos are made in Turkey…. these ones are made in Poland

      • Bosch makes products all over the place, including Turkey.

The dishwashers are made - in price/features order: Turkey < Spain < Germany.

        • I was referring to only washers and dryers. Might be mistaken though at least i know this model is from poland

      • +1

my Beko made in Turkey/China & it dies, can't find the invoice so can't claim warranty! :-(

        • I learnt that the hard way. Lucky for me it was only only a $150 logitech g9. After that for any big ticket purchases I'd scan the receipt onto pc and store them all in a folder.

        • don't need an invoice for warranty. Just need proof pf payment. Dig up your Credit card statements and go back to the shop.

Also YES for scanning all (or most) invoices. It's a 2 min job and very easy to save it all in one folder. Good for insurance purposes too. There are apps these days (e.g. Camscanner) that would do this for you.

      • +2

This is correct, the country of origin is Poland.

  • I'm not one to be negative, but purchased a Bosch Front Loading Washing Machine about 5 years go (similar unit to this one, paid about $980) and have had numerous issues, mainly with the seals on the front loading door being impossible to keep dry and subsequently becoming mouldy.

When contacting Bosch about this via email in the past year, I was met with a very generic 'sorry, but you can do XYZ to keep the seal clean, and add XYZ to your powder etc' that was demeaning and come off as very 'copy/paste'.

Please consider after sales support as well as the quality of the unit (especially if you have more than one person in the house). Bosch let me down in this regard and will impact on my next washing machine purchase.

    • +1

My washing machine seal pools with water too. I just get a bit of paper towel and wipe it down once I've finished the laundry and keep the door ajar and no mould grows at all.

      • That's exactly what I do. Just leave the door open and no issues with mould. Mine's not a Bosch.

Not too convinced about Bosh these days to be honest. I have a Bosch stove and oven from 10 years ago which still look and work great. I've seen the newer Bosch stoves and they look absolutely rubbish compared to mine. Very flimsy. Don't know about their washers but the reviews look encouraging.

      • +2

Paper towel? You are not an ozbargainer when you use paper towel instead of a cloth. Badge please.

    • +2

did you invite rorymeister or his daughter to your place? (see comment above)

    • What did you do to keep it dry? Seals are supposed to be wiped of water and door opened. What we do is to use a syringe, take as much water as possible at the bottom of the seal and give a final wipe. Over 12 years mould free.

    • +1

your going to have the same problem with any front loader.
its in the manual about cleaning the from seal

      • I understand the concept of keeping the seal clean but despite keeping the area clean at all times, a 'mould like buildup' grew on the entry point seal. I'd argue this is not a cleanliness issue; the Bosch unit seal (and door mechanism) wasn't great IMO and neither was the after sales service. YMMV.

        • we just give it wipe with a paper towel and leave the door ajar.
if we get a tiny spot we hit it with bathroom mould killer.

This company is awesome. You can order on the phone and pay when it arrives. I got a $850 fridge delivered last Friday. Very good customer service and pricing. Def use them again

    • +1

Seconded. I had a Bosch dishwasher delivered two weeks ago. No complaints at all.

        Tell me after warranty expires.

    • Which fridge did you buy?

      • GB-450UPLE LG for $847.

    • Same here for a washing machine I bought a few months ago, appliancesonline were super easy to deal with and they even called me to organise next day delivery. Amazed by the service.

  • Thanks for this, just moved in my new place and looking for a front loader!

  • I broke our 8kg front loader (Electrolux by trying to stuff too much in), and our 5kg LG top loader always shakes so noisily during spin as it almost always imbalances.
What are people's thoughts on top loader vs. front loader. Both were ~10 yrs old. The girls in our family want a top loader as it is 'easier' and new models address certain issues, but I've always heard front loaders are just better in general?

This is a good deal, but I've been looking for a deal with this Samsung too!
    https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/8kg-top-load-samsung-was…

What are your thoughts? Bosch over Samsung? (I know those stories about burning washing machines, but surely they have addressed that?)

    • +1

I have a Samsung tv which I love.
Samsung washing machines, well not so sure. I'm sure you've heard about them going up in flames along with people's houses. Specially the top loaders. There's been a lot of recalls.

      • Every company has their share of problems. They fixed the issue, but not before they were made to. If we didn't have consumer protection I can imagine what it would like buying an appliance, let alone after sales support.

        • but Samsung top loader that caught fire…..destroyed many homes now!

also their classic Samsung Note7 phone..LOL!

        • @davidl2:

They learned from the first mistake how to improve :P

        • @bargainparker:

as in improve blowing up things?

        • @davidl2:

          yeah :)

    • +1

We replaced our Samsung top loader (it was the recalled model which Samsung ended up refunding our purchase price when forced to act) with this Bosch front loader, to be honest, I regret not replacing with another top loader. I miss not being able to chuck things in mid cycle, and I found the Samsung top dried things a little better, but maybe that's me not using the Bosch properly. I would have been happy to buy another Samsung, but the boss refused to get another one, I figured like you that they would have learned some lessons from that and addressed the issues behind it.

      • Doesn't this have a pause light and button that allows you to add things?

My Bosch does, but it's not this model.

Also, this spins at 1100 RPM, your clothes should be almost dry enough to wear (and certainly drier than a top loader).

Front loaders are superior in almost every way to top loaders, not sure why you'd prefer one.

    • +1

I've got a samsung front loader and reckon they are excellent value for money.

Quality seems good, does a decent wash (although some cycles can be long), and I feel front loaders are gentler on your clothes, whereas a top loader can stretch things.

  • +1

great washing machine apart from the constant beeping once finished.

    • great washing machine apart from the constant beeping once finished.

You could RTFM which tells you how to turn off the beeping at the end. And the beeping is three beeps every minute for twenty minutes before it stops. You can also change the volume of the beeps.

      • +1

If its not too much to ask, can you please give me the link of the user manual or let me know how to turn off the beeping?

      • i had a look at doing that but then the constant beeping from my wife stopped me.
for some reason she likes it.

  • Can I pick this from the shop or how soon will I receive in Brisbane ?

    • Dont know if you got a reply but I put an order in around 11:15 today and got a message saying it will be delivered tomorrow and I am in Brisbane as well.

  • For anyone in Adelaide.
    https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/bosch-wae22466au-7kg-fro…
Whoops forgot the 10% off the eBay purchase, still good prices here though.

  • We have an older WAE22260AU 01 Maxx Classic.

This was one of the ‘problem’ models with the rotting spider arms (drum support arm) and other, um, issues. However, even with a broken pulley wheel (which I replaced last year), and a second rubber seal, and it dancing all over the laundry when it has a load of towels… it is still going after 10 years.

We’re just waiting for the spider arm to finally die (most only last around 5 years) and then it will be off to the tip.

So… I’m not sure if I am recommending the Bosch or not. I would like to think this model is an evolution from our old beast and all the problems are now in the past.

  • If your not attached to Bosch, I saw a samsung front loader for $637 at good guys last weekend. That one had a smaller cap at the front for adding items mid cycle and also had wifi which i thought was pretty cool. Another good use for it would be to turn it on in the middle of the night to scare my wife when im out of town.

  • Not bad. Wife has 2nd baby on the way but wants a top loader, so to avoid an angry hormonal lady I may get http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Fisher-Paykel-WA8560P1-FabricSmar…

don't understand they use AusPost and Aus Post also install and take away your old unit for you?
Don't these things need to schedule an appointment? Not just a delivery?

Where does it say they use Australia Post to deliver and install? Do you think the postie is going to rock up on his bike with this strapped to the back??

On the ebay page it clearly states.

"Depending on the products purchased your delivery will be made using Appliances Online's own delivery trucks (large items), and or Australia Post's national delivery distribution service (small items).

      Large Items

Delivered for FREE by Appliances Online trucks. We will even unpack and remove the packaging as well as take away the old disconnected appliance if required (all for FREE of course).

Once you have completed your purchase our system will process your order and confirm your delivery date. In the unfortunate event we have to change it, we'll be in touch to confirm a new date.

On the day of delivery our drivers will call you before 10am with an approximate 2 hour delivery window. However, if your delivery is scheduled for 8am or earlier (deliveries can be made as early as 6:30am), your driver will call you as they leave the warehouse

We offer free setup and connection of fridges, washing machines and microwaves (conditions apply) only. Certain connections and installations (such as dishwashers, ovens, cooktops etc.) require a paid installation service which can be selected during checkout."

"Do you think the postie is going to rock up on his bike with this strapped to the back??"

LOL!! this gotta be joke of the day!

  • I have this exact model, let me know if you have any questions.

The only complaints I've seen are: loud, smaller than expected load capacity (which isn't a bad thing imho).

    • Does the rubber groove just in the opening collect yuck liquid and over time, cake into goo. Wobbly after awhile. made in Thailand?

      • Collects liquid: yes, but it seems to be water. It's used regularly enough to keep it fresh. We mostly use Almat powder.

The door is left open after washing as per the instructions, but I haven't needed to ask people to wipe it out yet. The seal is slightly yellow'ed.

Not wobbly, had it 7 months, pretty sure it has adjustable feet too?

Will check country of manufacture. If it is Thailand, that's possibly a reason to choose it over China

    • smaller than expected load capacity

That applies to all front loaders though.

  • Good price for an excellent machine

  • I'm just looking on the The Good Guys and Harvey Norman sites for comparisons, but they have different models for the 7kg front loader - WAK24220AU and WAK24160AU. Is there much differences?
