LG WVC5-1409W 9kg/5kg Washer Dryer Combo $899 ($849 for New Customer) Delivered @ LG

Decent discount on what looks like a fine washer dryer combo for those with small spaces. It's a condensor dryer so doesn't vent humid air - I ended up not taking it as I'd prefer a more efficient heat pump dryer, but may suit some.

    Check the reviews. Nope

I'm not endorsing this unit in particular, but those reviews seem like the standard for all washing machines/dryers. All units I've ever owned have those complaints online, overall rated around 3.x/5 stars, but were fine. Though I've never had an LG, yet.

I have this since 2022 with no issues. I've been using the wash and dry cycle for bedsheets, quilt covers and towels with no issues.

    • Are you looking at reviews for a different model ? This has an average review of 4.2 out of 5 from 205 reviews - that's a great endorsement 🤷

    • I have had this unit since 2020 with no issues. The drying capability is not as strong as that of a heat pump dryer but for daily uses, it's fine as long as you don't overload it.

  • 5 hours for a wash/dry cycle…

    • +3

Oh you can find longer easily! Eg the heat pumps I refer to. Depends what your needs are iguess

      • Any deals on heat pump washer dryer combo units?

      • My heat pump averages around 2.25 hours. Add an hour for the wash. 5 is ridiculous.

    • This is very standard. Just chuck your laundry in overnight, enjoy the off-peak prices.

Power is cheap during the day now due to rooftop solar. Off peak controlled load isn’t much cheaper in my experience.

Back to thermodynamics class for you!

What has he promised? Tariffs on all energy efficient products? Sacking all staff at the efficiency rating agency to “improve efficiency”.
Perhaps an executive order banning washer dryer combos?

        • +1

didn't you know, Trump is the CEO of all washing machine companies, who have been colluding to prolong drying times just so Trump, who famously campaigned on shortening washing/drying times, to come in and save the day.

          • @xrailgun: Plus shower heads and hairdryers as they don’t benefit his hair, apparently.

    • My samsung takes 7 hrs for a wash and dry, not that I have ever used it.

  • +2

Choice said these combos use a ton of water even when drying, is that still the case?

    • They use same amount of water for washing as any other machine.

For drying, they use water to cool the condenser. That could mean 20 to 40 litres for one load. In other words, less water than a 5 min shower.

It's the price you pay for wanting a compact combo machine. If you don't use the dryer much, the combo units might make sense.

      • Seems pretty wasteful tbh

  • LG is the worst to deal with warranty wise

Have this machine for 4 years for a family with two kids and never have any issue.
I echoed leaving bedsheets drying overnight.
    Good machine so far.

  • Is the deal still active? It's giving me full price when I click on the link.
