    Chinese made

Doesn't that defeat the purpose of buying Bosch?

    • -1

German parts may take longer for Bosch to stock. I had a recent series 8 which broke down, and it took half a month for Bosch to source the parts.

    • -2

I think Chinese made Bosch's are considered to be ok

      • It shouldn’t be too bad as long as it’s a BOSCH, quality wise. With that being said, I’m happy with my German made 😊

      • +2

our first one was not made in Germany and was the worst.

We returned it and got the German made one, which is still going strong after 8 years.

        • What went wrong with the chinese one?

          • +1

@mordinhoz: its a long long time ago now, but we were never satisfied with the "cleaning" to a point where you would take your stuff out of the washer and you got the feeling that it hardly got wet as the amount of water used was… very water efficient. also if it was "too full"it would stink like cat piss

in saying that I don't think it was made in china though, maybe it was Philippines

            • @Olli: Was the replacement the same drum size? I have a German made Bosch and I'm pretty sure the clothes don't get fully saturated if you're loading it close to the maximum load weight.
For example I've had trackpants go through, and parts of the leg feel essentially dry when I take them out.
This only happens when I'm doing larger loads so I just do a few less items at a time

              • @DeToxin: The current one is a Series 8 waw28460au and yes both were 8kg, just "looking" at the amount of water being dispensed in that one compared to the old one is significantly more, and relates to the amount of washing you put in.

            • @Olli: The water level in new machines takes some getting used to. Can you see the water level above the drum during a cotton wash on your newer bosch?

        What about Chinese made Tesla?

  • +1

JB price matched it but could not add free delivery.

  • The rubber seal gets mouldy

    • Just give it a ~2 second wipe when you're done. Makes the washing machine not smell gross, and…well that's about it haha

    • +3

Open up the door and ensure your laundry is adequately vented.

      • +1

        This is the way

  • +1

Get the german made ones. Chinese ones dont last over 3 to 4 years. You'd be paying 2.5k minimum but will last 10 years plus easily

    • +1

The series 8 for 1.5k is German made

SOLD! also never buy the dryer and washer combos. ALWAYS SEPERATE!

$892 at Harvey Norman (strangely, not even listed as a discount. So probably go in and haggle some more off).

But at 1.8 stars on ProductReview, I won't be running out to buy one.

      • 8 reviews, 7 of them negative.

You recommend against buying because of the unverified claims of 7 people. 😂

One of the reviews looks like the family dog bit into the door seal.

A lot more than 8 Bosch washing machines have sold in Australia.

      • Yes. Rarely see any positive reviews only ranting sites.

      • -1

        That’s how reviews work, yes.

And you are literally fabricating reasons to dismiss some of the reviews. A missing chunk out of the seal could equally have been caused by it going brittle prematurely.

Naturally, you expect more negative reviews than positive. You’re more likely to go to the effort of posting a negative review if you have a problem. That being said, 7 out of 8 is a bridge too far. And Bosch’s response’s (or lack thereof) doesn’t fill me with confidence either.

        • -1

          going brittle prematurely

Isn't that your fabrication? I like mine better: the dog did it.

Unless there's a bunch of people with chunks of door seal breaking off, this incident is negligible.

That being said, 7 out of 8 is a bridge too far

In this case, "that being said" has not overruled your previous point! 7 out of 8 random people is not a "bridge"! At best it's a solitary rubber floor mat. So please update your expression to "a floor mat too far".

@cerealJay: Are you okay? Who hurt you?

            • -1

@ASR-Briggs: I'll play along, because it must be rough losing an argument about a washing machine. Oh, well, actually I suffered a blow to the head and it's caused me to make reasoned comments about random things on the internet.

              • -1

@cerealJay: Reasoned huh. Aka inventing things in your mind as to why someone's experience with a product is not valid. Got it.

  • +1

Back then the Chinese made ones used a German made motor. Not sure about now.

The washing machine mainly consist of 3 main parts 1. Motor, 2. Circuit board, 3. Water pump. Item 2 is probably one with the highest failure rate and not worth fixing ($400 for a refurb). Item 1 is bullet proof and item 3 seems to hold up.

I wonder why the PRC made machines are inferior.

  • +1

They cheap out on everything that you wouldn’t even think of like using aluminium instead of copper in the motors.
When making steel they use the minimum carbon etc with the Iron .
    Lower quality plastics ,switches etc.
They make dummy demonstration machines for the Germans, then go back to skimming any profit they can, along with any quality from machines as soon as they turn their backs.
It’s a hangover from Mao starving millions of Chinese people to death 65years ago in the Great Famine.
Grab what you can today as tomorrow you might be dead.

    • +1

      You're a ray of sunshine.

      • +1

One way Bosch can mitigate this is to increase the number of sample checking. But that will increase cost, rendering outsourcing to the PRC meaningless.

      • Criticism noted .
        Perhaps I’m too blunt
Today China is close to becoming the most dominant country on earth, so cheer up
