    /eaedge/ if you are an engineer or /caedge/ if you are an accountant

    Not sure if either asks for any details

      I'm considering applying for this one to replace my platinum edge that lost the free flight

      • +1

        apparently some people holding the card have reportedly received notice that the free flight has changed to $200 credit.

        The landing page just hasn't been updated.

        • +2

          Yes. You have to book your free return flight before 30th March. After that, it will change to the $200 travel credit. Also flights includes check-in baggage. Info came from AMEX customer service.

          @easternculture:

          He isn't making a false claim my brother already received the notice a couple of weeks ago though I can't recall if I receive mine.

        • @shopbot:

          Time to upgrade to an Explorer card then!

          @easternculture: Also got my notice for the EA Edge card (engineers) :( sad to cancel the card

          Can confirm free flight has been changed to travel credit.

          @Speedz:

          Did your brother have an AMA card?

        • +1

          @easternculture:

          Bro I think this pretty much applies to all Platinum Edge cards range regardless of professional body affiliation.

        • -1

          @Speedz:

          well if you apply today, you can still claim a free flight before the end of march.

          Then cancel the card

        • @easternculture:

          Well according to their T&Cs…

          https://web.aexp-static.com/au/content/pdf/cardmember/platin…

          (7.) To qualify for a Flight, you must have paid the Minimum Amount on
          your first and most recent Platinum Edge Credit Card statements by
          the due date and have maintained your account with American Express
          in good standing.

          (18.) American Express reserves the right to refuse Flight benefits where
          there is reasonable suspicion of attempted or actual fraud or misuse.
          If you obtain a Flight benefit to which you are not entitled, you agree
          to pay us the normal fare for that Flight plus all applicable taxes.

        i think the page needs to be updated EC. theres a link in the T&Cs which directs you to "amexmore.com.au", and when you click on "flights", it shows only the amex qantas ultimate and velocity platinum as the only cards which give you a complimentary flight.

      • Here are couple of more options for you ….

        https://www.americanexpress.com/au/content/ma/

        Looks like they don't ask for membership information with any of these applications … but still can reject the application at a later stage.

    • Hmm I'm an Engineers Australia member… I wonder if I can switch over to the EA one.

  • AMA = Australian Medical Association?

    Just so I'm clear, you have to choose Membership Rewards program (as opposed to QF Direct) in order to claim the annual free flight?

    Also, I just signed up to and was approved for the ANZ Travel Adventures Card, attempting to sign up for this one won't adversely affect my CR?

    • Correct. If you chose Qf you won't get the free flight. As for your CR there are plenty of options to check it for free online.

  • Here's a whole list for Engineers Australia. Seems to have similar offers and a reduced rate which is nice for those on a plat edge or plat reserve.
