Got knocked back for this last time, not sure if I want to apply again!

    • Worth making sure they have your details correct as the initial assessment is done by AI apparently. It had my expenses down as 10k a month higher than i stated in the application so it declined me, speaking to a real (quite helpful) human they spotted it straight away and i had an approval 15 minutes later.

    • Not surprised, my partner was only pre approved for up to 4k. She had no other cards at the time and has previously had 2x 15k limits at once

bonus points not eligible if you already received award points from other CBA cards

    • Thank you good to know! I have an Ultimate awards card and was going to get the wife to get this one to stack the points.

    Knocked back as well.

"Bonus points will be credited within 90 days of each eligible statement period where the spend criteria has been met and will appear on your statement as ‘BONUS AWARDS’. You will be ineligible for the bonus points if your account is closed, switched to another card or in default at any time prior to the bonus points being credited to your account. "

So basically you will need to have card for 7 months to get maximum amount of points.
And meet spending criteria all these months to avoid monthly fee

    • Not necessarily. Haven't held this card before but most cards will say that bonus points are credited within 90 days but from experience, I find that they're usually pretty quick and the bonus points will be credited in the next statement.

I got credited the bonus points from the Ultimate Awards card pretty quickly a couple years ago when they gave out bonus points.

Edit: seeing comments further below seems to suggest that there is a long waiting time for bonus points to be credited though

      • Yep i got diff experience from my Mrs card less than 2 years ago, it was credited within 3 billing cycle

    • The only positive I can see in this is if you have already hit a milestone, such as points club plus and have a number of months until your next membership year hits, you can use this downside to push the points into your next membership year.

Tring to find some positive out of a pretty ordinary feature.

    Second the experience above.

You thought they will credit the first 15k pts in the first (one or) two statements? Wrong
They said they will credit the 15k bonus pts in 90 days (since the minimum spent).
You then wait 2 billing cycles + 90 days and expect the first 15k pts arrived? Wrong
You have to complete and wait all 4 billing cycles (15k x4) + 2 first billing cycles + 90 days = 9 months!
I am still waiting mine (7 months now).

Opened 3 support tickets via ceba chat and a phone call to figure this out. Beware

Agree, My one is the same.
keep away from this credit card.
The worst credit card that I ever applied.

      • "Bonus points will be credited within 90 days of each eligible statement period where the spend criteria has been met and will appear on your statement as ‘BONUS AWARDS’."

Surely worth having a chat to AFCA if they aren't willing to play by their own rules?

    • You saved my timing contacting CBA. Thanks.

I just received my card a couple of days ago. Not awfully pleased to see the comment above about having to wait 9 months for points to be credited.. but on the plus side, it'll be easy to spend $2K a month so this is a very cheap way to get 60K QFF points, complimentary travel insurance and no international transaction fees. Sign up process was more annoying than usual..

Is it hard to get Yello activated starting as a non-CBA customer? ie open a smart access account, make the 5x or however many transactions then it's automatically there or does it take awhile?

    • +1

all as you described plus you have to wait until the end of calendar month making sure your 5 transactions settle, then another week to actually be enrolled in Yello

      • Thanks. Is it one and done or gotta repeat the 5x transactions every month? Also wonder if you need to keep Yello for the entire duration of the offer to get the bonus at the end or only during the sign-up application.

        • +2

eligibility is assessed every month int he first week of the month, once you get the actual credit card it's easy to remain in Yello as you have to spend to get the sign up bonus and waive the monthly fees

          • @powerhead: Alas I thought I was still Yello with a recently closed account and then got this card approved. App says not Yello. Now hoping the CBA systems aren't smart enough and I can sneak back in to Yello AND get the bonus points. May be dreaming, will attempt some phone whinging to see if good will is a thing with banks.

            • @Tock: I also made this mistake.. how did you get on trying to see about getting the bonus offer added to your CBA Smart Awards card retrospectively?

              • @thecheapest: Yeah no where just yet as all indidcations from posts are that bonus points don't come in until the end of the 4 month period?

CBA is the worst bank for basically everything.

You will get rejected, then go through AFCA. Will then get approved, but they won't follow AFCA findings to remove 3 credit checks. Back to AFCA.

CBA is a hot mess of everything. Avoid.

No idea how they are the biggest company in Australia….we should be embarrassed.

Not going to neg the deal….but if I could neg the CBA experience…I would 1000x over.

    • Why not neg the deal? People seem to be afraid

    • Can you explain going through AFCA after getting rejected? Aren't they allowed to reject you for whatever reason they feel is justifiable?

      • Well, I held them to account. Basically along the lines of if you are going to take / use my credit check then I need to know why. Step 1 is a complaint. Found they always referred to income in the last 30 days (I took leave, so my income changed in that time period), but they took forever to process it, so was their fault for dragging it out. Their T&CS say must provide income evidence within the last 60 days. Days 30 to 60 were consistent. I pushed that I had met the T&Cs when I applied, and it got up. The process took so long, they then ran a 3rd credit check. I then challenged that as well and got the first two removed.
Been through similar with ANZ and HSBC
.CBA was the worst. The others were "trying" to get it through, CBA had no interest and only move when pushed.

        • So to confirm every time you get rejected for a CC you make a complaint with AFCA?

          • @Brick50: Only been rejected twice. Both times they couldn't give me a reason that doesn't conform to their t&cs. I was successful both times.

  • Smart awards or ultimate awards is better?

  • Mine got rejected as well. Conditionally approved on 24/01. Uploaded required documents on the same day. Credit check (only one) on the same day and no email or anything after saying conditionally approved on 24/01. Just checked the application through Netbank "manage my applications" and it said declined.
    Poor communication imo too.

  • Wait, so its 15000 QFF points every month? So 180,000 points in a year?

    edit…saw the page…my bad. 60000 points max.
