    Great! Now my service is in LIMBO. Optus have ported me over now I have No SERVICE. Looks like amaysim are doing everything to stop non-tpg customers porting over.

    • thats because porting is not complete yet. Give it a couple of hours and service should be active.

      although porting usually takes longer over the weekend

        • @easternculture: Yep, myamaysim website seems to think I haven't received my sim yet even though I clicked "begin number transfer process". I hope the credit period begins from when the number transfers rather than payment date otherwise that's a loss of like 5 days.

          I'm also porting from Optus (Yatango). The Amaysim page said porting from Optus can take 2-3 business days. So I guess we could be looking at Tuesday or Wednesday if the port started on Friday.

          When I transferred my number it said it would take 3 hours for telstra users and 2 to 3 days for everyone else.

    • Your service should still work fine with your original provider until the porting to Amaysim is complete. If your original service isn't working and porting isn't complete, then something has been stuffed up big time. (I hope you didn't cancel your original service before porting, as that would be fatal for the process.)

    • My service kicked in eventually. Just very odd that I lost service for about 5 hours today where my number was disconnected. Never experienced this with a port over before.

  • My wife's phone is with Vaya, yesterday at 5:30pm I activated the transfer and it just went through now. Popped the Amaysim card in and instantly worked.

      • Not really mate, you're too quick to jump in again. I was just posting as you posted that when I turned off auto-renew I get a nice little purple banner that says:

        What was that about irony?

          Don't panic. This is ok. Your invoice shows what you paid for. You are on a monthly-renewing service, so that info is correct. It doesn't mean you are billed.

          The PROMOTION line is not advertising anything. It is telling you what plan you are on — that's why it shows the "Valid to" info. Your promotional plan expires on 23 May 2016, after which you'll be billed the normal monthly amount.

    • When did you order and when did you initiate the port?

  • My number has successfully ported over from Yatango. Everything is working, and it says this when logging into my plan on the amaysim site: "Promotion - $29.90 for 6 months of UNLIMITED 2GB. Valid to: 22 May 2016"

    Yare yare what a debacle. Im porting from Vaya which hasn't one thru btw (waiting since friday).
    Amaysim better honour this or pay me back.
    Now they claim something is wrong with the site and functions will be affected.

    Like others have said what was the purpose of the dropdown if it allowed you to select a vnmo other than TPG?

    Bloody port me. Optus to optus 3 days. Telstra to optus few hours what a joke.

    PS: Ive never joined a lawsuit. If this fails someone start one and let me know

    Sadly, it seems amaysim won't be honoring any non TPG ports. I've had a couple of support chats and been in email contact with their support team, and they're being pretty anal about it. Apparently because I have changed my mind, in a gesture of goodwill, they are offering one month free with the one paid month. Whoopdy bloody do!

    I still argue:

    • I signed up with no knowledge of a TPG offer.
    • I agreed to all terms and conditions presented to me at the point of sale, which at no point mentioned TPG.
    • On entering the code and when specifying the carrier I was switching from, no TPG requirements were presented.
    • In contract terms, an offer was made and accepted, so as far as in aware this is a legally binding contract.
    • Their automated systems, processes and people chose to charge my credit card, chose to send me an invoice which makes no mention of TPG, and chose to send me a SIM card.
    • I have not changed my mind, so they are the ones breaching the contract.

    I didn't get far via chat or email, so am now Facebook ranting and encourage you all to do the same.

    I tagged @amaysim and #amaysimfail, please do the same!

    • I will just wait a month and see how it goes, if they start to charge me after one month, I will simply port out from them and raise a charge back from my credit card company as they have breached the contract I initially signed for when porting in. No sure if there is any better way to do other than one free month of usage?

  • I went to woolworths and bought a new Amaysim and registered to my account because I had not received the other one. So mine works. This advice was given to me by someone from Amaysim. Happy to discuss via PM with others. The promo is also applied to my account.

    goodluck guys on the 6 month deal, i didnt want to risk it so went for the 3 months unlimited offer for $10 and got 2 x $10 referral credits which works out to be cheaper. any idea on the time limit to activate sim after receiving it? i plan on activating the new sim just under 1 month after the order was placed. hope it will still work and count from day of activation not shipping.?

    I tried porting to this deal from a 3 week expired Vodafone sim, and expected it would fail.
    It worked fully, and may save some people buying $1 or $2 sims just for porting purposes.

    The sim was a normal Vodafone 30day 3G Prepaid starter kit sim, and had finished up 3 weeks ago. Vodafone say somewhere that they will recharge (and the number is held) for 13 months after expiry.

    So as I've done my headbutt the cross thing here, can someone else try an expired telstra or optus sim for porting from now or later.

    Would be good to know this info.

      Thanks. So expired sims (VF and Telstra) appear to port successfully. I guess as long the number hasn't been recycled. Which is possibly 13 months for vodafone.

      Probably best to activate it straight away if your not porting from TPG.
      Also the account date appears to start from the date the number is ported. So not from the purchase date. My 1st months expiry is 31 Dec 2015, Just activated this morning.

    • How far into the porting process did you get before they sent that?

      • I paid and received invoice on the weekend, still waiting for sim to arrive, so have not started the porting process as yet. I don't want to port if they won't honor the deal as I can't be stuffed porting out again after 1 month.

Let me emphasise again that this promotion is TPG mobile customers only, and if you sign up to amaysim using this promo code but are not a TPG customer, there is no guarantee that the promotion will be honoured.

        What a shambles on their behalf, if they want to stop people porting over well then fix up the website to deny non TPG users porting.

      • The promotion has always been TPG mobile customers only. This promotion getting posted on OzBargain without disclosing those facts doesn't mean that it wasn't the case originally. In fact if you take a look at the revision history when easternculture first posted it was TPG customers only but he later on changed. I added the notes on 25 Nov stating that the promo is actually targeted but EC added more notes saying that amaysim is honouring the deal. I received more emails from amaysim today because of that comment.

        This promotion was passed onto the affiliate channel on 24 Nov at 2:31PM. As far as I know it wasn't even announced to TPG customers (not that amaysim would have the customer list in the first place). Here is an extract of the email:

        This offer will only be seen in the amaysim paid online media channels, with messaging calling out that this is for TPG customers only.

        I have no idea where did EC received the information about this offer but I assume also from the affiliates or from others working in the affiliate space. However targeting clause was edited out when the deal was posted here on OzBargain, which was the cause of all these confusion.

          I still feel this 'deal' was the biggest bait and switch as the original post said "Exclusive to Ozbargain" either OP lied or he was working with Amaysim and they just wanted to hit front page then change their mind.

          Imo this 'deal' should have been moved to forums because if it stayed as on TPG no ways it would have made front page.

          And as explained in a previous comment, i tried the promo code and it worked on a normal number and that's when i edited the post to reflect the new information.

  • I need some clarification. If I hold onto the SIM for a while before activating it, does my 6 months begin from the time I activate it, or from the time I ordered the sim?

    Because the new $25 ebay promo gives you a month with 5GB, which is incredible, and I want to use that first.

  • Just got the nasty christmas present from Amaysim. My 6 month plan expired at the end of first month. That too on Christmas day.

      • Good news, my plan was automatically renewed today and the cost was $0. So Amaysim is at least partly honoring the promotion.

  • My renew date was today (28th of Dec) calls and texting are still working but my data has not been renewed, the page where you check your data usage now looks like this https://i.imgur.com/BWZR81q.png it used to show me how much data I had used/had left.
    What the hell do I do now? I knew this deal was too good to be true.

          i ported 3 sims over and they all renewed for $0 (in the end)
          I had changed all 3 to bpay/voucher, but on one i forgot to tick the autorenew and it reverted to "as you go" with no credit. I messaged them on facebook on new years eve about 7pm and within 15 mins they fixed it up. Pretty happy with that.

          Thanks, got mine fixed today via the live chat. It only took a minute and they were happy to put me on the old 6 month plan again. They even gave me back my referral credit that I accidentally used when they changed me to the "as you go" plan.
