This is the price in the store today, not sure about the rewards points.

InB4 someone says Vodafail. Reception is actually better than Telstra where I live so I I guess it depends on your location.

      • +4

Vodafaaaaail at my house and where I usually go in Canberra.
Still, some have a good result with Voda and this looks like a good price.
Would be OK if you can still get a refund if it doesn't work for you.

      • +3

Yes I was disappointed with Vodafone some years ago. Been using this for last 2 months, no issue so far. Haven’t been out the country yet, Mobile internet speed is surprisingly good eg in data congested shopping centre.

      • +4

In my place, it is better than Telstra and Optus.

      • +1

They have won more segments than Telstra: https://www.opensignal.com/reports/2024/04/australia/mobile-…

    • Can confirm in store @ this price !
      Rewards , unsure.

      • rewards included, 2000 points with purchase

    misspelt vodafail in title

    • +2

They're a lot better than what they used to be.

  • I'm on Vodafone at the moment.
Anyone know if I need to port out then back in?

    • +2

Yes, it's not for existing customers.

      • Does that means we can keep our old number?

        • If you are porting from a different carrier, you can keep your number yes. When you activate the Sim it will ask if you want a new member or transfer your existing number from a different provider.

          • @hamza23: Wow . Thanks man. I went to vodafone shop and been told i cant use this prepaid sim. They wont bother telling us how, they just tell us we cant.

            • @AlcoholicGuy: What provider are you with now? Are you on a plan or prepaid?

              • @hamza23: Postpaid/month2month vodafone at the moment.

Now what i need to do :
                1. Transfer my number to other carrier lets say amaysim/coles PAYG ETC
                2. After 1 or more day, move to this vodafone plan.

How does it sounds my man?

                • @AlcoholicGuy: Yep that's the usual process.

I am not sure what the minimum length of time is, whether 1 day is enough, others may know. If you can get a cheap monthly SIM then you may as well use it up for the full month then port back to Vodafone the day before expiry.

Just make sure you port on a weekday (Saturday is also okay but I would do it Friday to be safe).

    • Is it port out 1 day then port back in?

      • @hamza23 do you know the answer to the above question?

        • I do not. I'd imagine 1 day would be fine but I don't have any experience or information on that.

  • me on this atm. so far no complaint with more data given boost now getting rid of lower tier plan. yes you need to port out and in unfortunately

    • Boost was mad @$150 initially

  • Does Vodafone allow you to receive messages while in overseas? Anyone knows? Please

  • Bought this at Costco in Nov 2023 and found out no 1200 mins international calls to selected countries included. Voda said I have to contact Costco and Costco said they cannot help. Anybody else have same issue ? I am going to report Costco to Docep for misleading ads.

    • It doesn't advertise 1200 minutes of international calls, so good luck with that.
If Costco mistakenly advertised that, you need to take it up with them, nothing to do with Vodafone as it has never included this (with this 12 month SIM).

      • You can check the listing in ozb in Nov showing the image of the offer.

        • But that SIM has never had 1200 minutes of international calls, therefore it is 100% the responsibility of Costco to handle, as Costco made an error, not the service provider.
The retailer has to take responsibility for this one.

          • @SimAus007: I bought same offer a year before (2022) and it had the 1200 mins free international calls. But seems no longer avail in 2023 but keep using same old ads ?

            • @yht: Then you need to speak with Costco about that, Vodafone itself has not been offering or advertising it with international calls.

              • @SimAus007: They said that they cannot help me. That is why I will report it to Docep and let them to mediatate.

                • @yht: Who is Docep? I assume you mean the ACCC? (They deal with misleading advertising).
You are reporting Costco if that is the case. Which they will quickly establish. They also don't deal with individual cases, so you won't get personal response, that is not their job.
You'd also be best to have screenshots or it's your word against Costco.

                  • @SimAus007: DOCEP was the old old name of a WA Gov department - it is now Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety??

Based on this though they won't help unless you can prove you've taken steps to work with the company first and they've refused to resolve.

                    • @pennypincher98: I know how it works as I did deal with them in the past. Though they cannot force the company to do the right thing, but at least their name will be in their 'naughty' list and if they do have many, surely there will be action done.

                      • @yht: Really doubt its worth your energy but sure if that's what helps you sleep at night. They've likely got a clause deep down in the terms you agreed to by using their site that basically says "no responsibility taken for any error".

I mean, did you read it in full before purchase? I'm betting you didn't, and companies are betting you didn't either.

Remember to combine with your 10% ER monthly discount to make it $135…
I swear this is on sale every 2nd week.

  • Anyone tried to purchase this by gift cards? Does it work?

    • Yeah mate it works with gc

I got the $10 point aswell

    • Works with both ER and GC

  • Is this one 5G enabled?

    • +1

      Yes 5g

      • Does this mean I can't use it with an old 4G phone?

        • +2

You can use it in a 4g phone, 5g is just an extra network for those who have it in their area and a 5g phone. It still includes 4g and previously 3g before the 3g network shutdown. 4g will be around for many years.

  • No bonus data expiry date I assume? My current sim expires on 14th November, this should be fine to switch with I imagine

  • What is the best way to test how good or bad the reception in my area? Asked around and no-one is with Vodafone. Thanks

    • +1

Grab a SIM. Whether that be a $2 SIM for coverage and receiving only or a $5-$10 starter pack to test sending/data from the shops - any on the Vodafone network will do.

      • Thanks

  • Silly question but would this work aa data only for a tablet?

  • How do you port your own number to this? Sorry - never used pre-paid before!

    • Go to activation on website, pop ya phone no and ID, you get OTP and qam bam done

      • Thanks! Can i port out again no worries with a new service? Is there any minimum time to stay locked in for example? Thanks for answering my n00b q's

        • Good to stay for a couple of days min and can port again

  • Be aware that Vodafone has terrible reception out of metro in Melbourne

  • Hey, will this be in all the Woolworths?

  • i tried all three networks and vodafone is way better in my area in moreton bay. 5G @5bars at home, whereas all the other ones are dropping to 1-2bars 4G-5G mixed. Vodafone is a clear winner in my area.

whats the best/chepeast 3-6 month plan to get a family member who is flying over?

    • I have been using TPG prepaid, it works fine and the first 6 months are 50% off. A lot of GB for $10-15 per month. The only painful thing is to deactivate them, it can only be done over the phone (30 mins call).

      • cool thanks

  • Stupid question, but what happens when you have used all of the data?

    • Dunno about voda but with coleswhen dataruns out u cant make calls or sms

    • Buy a new plan

    • I could be wrong, but I believe if you've turned on auto top up, you'll forget it and then get an unexpected expense on your card.

If you don't have auto top up enabled, you'll need to get another plan.

  • If you are already with a post paid plan with Vodafone, can we still change it to this prepaid plan?

  • doh, already used the 10% off for this month

    • doh indeed… I've used all 3 as well.

  • Unlocking fee may apply

what does this mean if there's no device?

      • I see it's related to a device but I dunno about having it as a condition of the Sim

        • +2

It's literally just a disclaimer "if this SIM doesn't work in a Telstra/Optus locked device don't come crying to us and if other carrier charges you a fee it's not our problem"

  • can use on 4G phone?

  • bought one before knowing amaysim 60/365 days plan. Can I return it to woolies?
