$29.90 ($5/Month) for 6 Months of Amaysim Unlimited 2GB – Exclusive to TPG Customers

2730
SWITCH

MOD: This has been received from Amaysim (2 Dec 2015):

amaysim updated the redemption details of this offer last week so that once a user puts this code into the funnel, the success message clearly states that this offer is only valid if redeemed by someone bringing a TPG number to amaysim… If new customers bring a non TPG number to amaysim and claim this SWITCH offer they do risk the promo not being honoured, as the user will have breached the terms and conditions of the offer.

Therefore it is a targeted offer for customers of TPG mobile. There is no guarantee that promotion will be honoured.

FIRST TO BE POSTED ON OZBARGAIN

All you have to do is port any number with TPG and you will get the deal

        • @lostn:
          Yeah mine's an old plan.

  • So those that ported a non TPG number are going to get screwed?

    • +3

Probably not. The warning sounds like more bark than bite.

  • -2

Just got email about incompleted Amaysim order,
Offer: Use code 73PBAA now and get 50% OFF your first order

So you could try with code: SWITCH, UNLIMITED 2GB $29.90 , if allowed
    50% OFF Promo -$14.95
    Total cost $14.95

I doubt it will work, but that never stopped Ozbargainers from trying!

    Also thanks OP.

    • How would you add two codes? Do they let you do that, or does the second code overwrite the first one? Because if you could combine codes, you may as well use FIVER which will set the price to $5 for the first month.

      • If they have a 1 code limit, this may be useful for other amaysim deals.

        • FIVER works on all of them I believe.. which is better than 50% off.

    • That won't work.

  • Only TPG, I want my + Vote back.

What type of fools do they employ who can't make the system deny numbers that are been ported from other providers than TPG.

    • +1

Not really sure how you'd automate that actually.. But you can revoke your pos. Click on votes at the top, then the red stop sign-like icon next to your username to revoke.

      • Thanks

      • A dropdown box where you select your carrier would have avoided all of this. Any carrier other than TPG selected and you get sent to a screen saying you don't qualify.

        • Wouldn't stop people from lying. And then you'd have Amaysim call up TPG for your number and TPG will say that number doesn't exist in our system. And then you'd be disqualified anyway.

And if it's only for TPG you wouldn't even need a drop-down because technically there's only one "legitimate" choice.

        • @illumination: Thats fine for liars, they can then get disqualified. For all the other misguided folk though it would save a lot of trouble during sign up and avoid a lot of refunding.

        • +1

@illumination: I selected other carrier as I am with Telechoice, and their system did not notify me the coupon is invalid when I inputted that at the end, which can be easily done.

        • +1

Didn't everyone get a dropdown box? I certainly did. Selected Vodafone. It permitted me to purchase. (This was earlier today.)

        • @bloomer: I still get this.

        • @bloomer:
I selected 'Other', trying to be a cheat.

        • @bloomer: There is a drop down box.

Sometimes it's bugged and doesn't show up though.

  • +2

Already ordered last night and had my sim sent and since I am in WA it might take 5 days to get here. I never got a call either to say it wouldn't work despite I am with Optus.

Edit: Literally just got an email as I posted.

    Dear (name)

Your order has been processed and your amaysim SIM is on its way. It should be with you in the next 2-3 working days.

  • Port to tpg then go to amaysim? What's the expiry date? Does anyone have unused sims they use for this purpose?

    • +1

Just keep in mind that to port to TPG, they will charge you $20 for the SIM, $20 non-refundable prepayment, and then $11 when you port away.

So prepare to add $51 plus the cost of your first month's plan, to the total cost if you port to TPG and then port to amaysim just for this deal.

IMO, not worth it. Just stock up on cheap Telstra/Optus sims.

  • +3

    Early this morning when I ordered without knowledge of deal for tpg port only, I got this when entered switch code for virgin mobile, which I took a screenshot of;
"Congratulations, you've successfully applied promo. $29.95 for first month, then free next 5 months."
A few moment ago tried another number also for virgin mobile and got this instead:
"Congratulations, you've successfully applied promo. $29.95 for first month, then free next 5 months. For tpg customers only. T&cs apply".
Looks like amaysim still have not fixed the software code to prevent other carrier porting across to get this deal. Instead opting for easy way out by changing message output.
For anyone who joined prior last night and felt dubbed, let me know and i can post the screenshot. Enough evidence for amaysim to accept non tpg customers if joined before this morning?

    • +4

ivan can you put the screenshot up please.
Im going to try hard to get the 5 months free. I have an invoice saying that and there was never a mention of tpg anywhere in the signup process
You are right, they've gone the easy option and added a lazy message instead of fixing their code.
Hopefully they honour the ones before they added the tpg message

  • so whats the go, are non tpg customers still signing up? i selected vodofone, entered the code and the offer is still there… am i wasting $29.90 to sign up then?

    • +1

From what I read in the comments here they are calling people to cancel, they also refuse to offer other offers that are available for others, like the $10 for 3 months or $5 for first month. So they are basically screwing them out of other offers too because of their own fault of letting anyone sign up.

I haven't got the call yet myself.

      • To be fair, this is a 'leak' and they never publicly advertised this deal to anyone not on TPG. Hell, I'm on TPG and didn't even know about it. You weren't meant to know about this deal in the first place.

You'd only know about the deal officially if you visited the landing page, which stated in clear terms it was for TPG customers.

  • They screwed everyone…

  • Gah, ported to Voda yesterday now I find out TPG only :(

    • Why did you port to Voda?

      • $1 sim

        • I'm guessing you were already on amaysim?

        • @lostn:
sorry, yes I omitted that piece of info! Very frustrating for me as I was already on this 2GB deal. Seems to me Amaysim don't look after existing customers nearly as much as new. Not only amaysim in this regard though i guess and can't blame them.

  • Has anyone got full refund from Amaysim?

  • Ok so Amaysim would surely know about all the non-TPG customers porting over by now. The fact that the deal is still on and everyone can still join tells me they don't care or will actually honor it?

  • +3

Guys, I've successfully ported my number from Vodafone, started using Amaysim now
    - 24/11 Paid $29.90 for the service - 6 Months of Amaysim Unlimited 2GB
    - 25/11 Online changed payment from CC to BPAY *
    - 26/11 10AM - Ported my Vodafone to Amaysim (Confirmed in 40 min) *
    - 26/11 1PM - Purchased a $2 SIM from coles, activated the service started using it now

I can see under my account plan/data it says #Promotion - $29.90 for 6 months of UNLIMITED 2GB. Valid to: 22 May 2016

Hope this clears everyone's confusion who are porting from non-tpg providers

    • Thanks, updated post that amaysim is honoring the deal

      • +3

What's to say they wont cancel it still? And say you only get 1 month that you paid for as you weren't on TPG?

      • Can confirm from Optus for me. However no sims in the mail yet but it would take up to 5 days. I went and purchased a new sims and I was also informed my sims $2 could be refunded to me.

    • When you go to 'My Plan and Data', does it say it's due to be renewed on January though?

    • Is your plan still the unlimited 2GB? because I switched my payment from CC to BPAY and now my plan has been changed to 'pay as you go' on the renew date

  • +1

For those interested: I used this deal yesterday as a non TPG customer (with Vodafone) and have already received my sim in the mail and have it working in my phone. Looks like it's all good for those who got in early!

    • Thanks, updated post that amaysim is honoring the deal

  • They have sent sim but did amaysim confirm that all these people will not ned to pay for next 5 months ?

  • +3

I don't think we'll have solid evidence that Amaysim are honoring this until a month passes and those non TPG switchers (including myself) aren't charged another $29.90 or aren't phoned up by Amaysim to explain ineligibility. Fingers crossed, but at the moment I'm not convinced by any messages that are displaying on the website - this is most likely just standard code from the "successful" promo code signup.

    • Exactly! I wouldn't port over as they have full right to charge you full price end of month.

If they're honouring they should change the disclaimer.

      • +2

Why do they have the right to charge full price?

When I agreed to give them my money, the confirmation page said I was paying for 6 months of access for $29.95. There was no mention of TPG or anything to suggest the voucher was invalid. My invoice says I have paid for 6 months.

If they are not actually giving me 6 months access, then they will be required to refund the money.

        • +1

If they don't honor the deal dispute it with your Cc company

Just make sure yiu have screen shot confirmation of the deal as you only authorised a once off payment

        • @easternculture: That's what I intend to do. Just received the SIM card today. Porting over now.

        • @ronnknee: I am porting as well, from None-TPG, hope for the best!

  • +1

Hell hath no fury like a swarm of ausbargainers scorned :P

Fair enough if it's a small company that's been taken by surprise - most of us are pretty understanding if those deals don't work out.

No mention of TPG in signup process - no warning when you pick a non-TPG network - to port to them and then get charged $30 when the second month rolls round would be pretty harsh.

    • What if they ask, where did you hear about the deal?

      • +4

I got it off the internets.

  • My invoice doesn't mention TPG promo, but my wife's does. I did hers a day later. But they both say 6 months free.

    • +1

      same here.
      mine says
      $29.90 for 6 months of UNLIMITED 2GB

for those that don't have a screenshot, you can just login to their portal, and pull the invoice which should have the right details.

  • Anyone who wasn't TPG had their offer cancelled?

  • Do amaysim have an android usage app? I'm with TPG and their usage meter has been broken since I signed onto their new VM4 plan. I'm ready to jump ship….

    • yes, you can see your data usage via app. It updates pretty quickly too

    • +1

You can also check data usage in your phone's settings.. at least with my Samsung I can. It separates sim card usage from wifi and you can set a warning level when you reach a certain amount in a month.

  • +1

Great deal, pity I won't be offered the VM4 plan if I leave TPG (1.5 gb/$550 value/$19.99), I'd be on T4G I (1.3 gb/$400/$19.99), plus lose my existing credit, plus they're already offering 2 months free.

I'd jump if I had a comparable plan to jump to at the end of the 6 months (max $20 per month, min 1 gb data, few calls, texts), but Vaya seem like the only competitors at that price point, and the horror stories about them can't all be paid reviews.

Great deal, but lack of future plans for me means I'll stay.

Damn, 2 gb would be sweet…

  • Oh no. I just ported my device without checking this forum first.
When I purchased the sim last night, there was no mention of this offer being valid for only TPG customers.
I'm looking at the invoice Amaysim sent me last night and it clearly states $29.90 for the first month, $0.00 for the next six months.
But I noticed on the bottom of the invoice, it refers to "see our terms and conditions - https://www.amaysim.com.au/terms-conditions.html" which now includes a TPG disclaimer….

  • Thanks EC. Ordered using your referral link :)

  • Good deal and will consider to port to Amaysin before Dec 30.

  • It may have come up already, but after 2GB is used in a month what are the excess fees (if any). Or what happens to the internet access.
    And does data rollover.

    • +1

It stops but you can buy more data.

      Data does not roll over

    • +1

Pre pay,so once all data used, there's no data unless you too up using a data pack.
      Usually about $10 per 1gb
      No roll over data…..

  • I just switched to Amaysim using your referral link, Thanks easternculture!

  • switched two mobiles to this. $60 for 6 months and $30 total credit in return. So it worked out at $2.5 / month for each mobile. Great deal. Thanks ec

    • Credit in return?

      • +1

referral program. $10 for the first using EC's referral, and $10+$10 for referring the second number in.

  • +1

Just spoke to Amaysim and she said that my two number transfers would be fine. One from dodo and the other from vodaphone.

    • Good, I reckon this can be treated as a confirmation that Amaysim is honoring the deal. My number was ported last night anyway, and I kept all the screenshots for possible dispute in the future.

  • is it too late to port for non-tpg? should have port it since the first day..undecided at the time, now it's too late for non-tpg, anyone spoke to amaysim and confirm still good for non-tpg?

  • Anyone know, can you usually port from a prepaid sim number that has expired?

I have a Vodafone prepaid (data only) sim which expired three weeks ago. I think Vodafone say it can be recharged for 13 months.

Instead of buying a $2 sim just to port from, does anyone expect that recently expired VF or Telstra sims can be ported from?

If no answer from OzB, I'll be a guinea pig, and do it to find out.

    • It won't work, I think the number has gone into the wilderness now!

      • VF say the account can be recharged for 13 months after expiry. Which will have to be the same mobile number.

Well say tuned, I'll try it this week, and post the result.
Because it'll save a lot of Ozbos from buying $1 or $2 sims just for this purpose.

        • Thanks for trying it out!

        • +1

          @GameChanger:

          Hotdog! It works.
Three weeks after the expiry of a Vodafone 30day 3G Prepaid starter kit sim, and it ported to this deal sucessfully.

I've called out, received sms and using 3G now. So working.

May save people buying sims just for porting.

        • @Bargitrage: You're the man bargitrage!

What does your username mean? Relates to finance?

        • @GameChanger:
A later commenter on Page 5 successfully ported an expired Telstra sim to this deal as well, so this is good to know for future phone deals.

'Bargain Arbitrage', we restore price variations fast.

  • So I got the SIM in the mail, activated it online and now its saying I'm being shipped another SIM….da fuk?

    • Put the sim in your phone and then login on the website, it should tell you that it is now porting your number. Ignore the message about shipping the sim (the message will disappear once your number has been ported).

  • Successfully ported today VAYA > VODA > AMAYSIM. Service active.

    • i am with vaya atm, how long did that take you?

      • +1

Half an hour on the phone with Vodafone (because if you activate online instead, it apparently doesn't get processed until the following day). 75 minutes for the port to happen VAYA>VODA. 5 mins on the Amaysim site (first you activate the SIM, then you confirm you want to port). 2hours30mins for the port to happen VODA>AMAYSIM.

Note that you shouldn't do it today or tomorrow as the porting only happens during their business hours Mon-Sat.

  • +1

I have contacted the CSR this afternoon and was told this offer will not be working for the non tpg customer even if you have got confirmation email and see the details in your account The price will go normal after one month. So they suggested to refund the money.:(

    • Read this. If its under promotions in your account, then it was applied successfully and ignore what the CSR says. They usually have no idea whats going on.

      • +1

That was after she checked my account and told me this! She insisted that they won't apply the offer even though it went through.

        • dispute it with CC company. Just remember to keep screen shots

  • Very disappointing and annoying!

  • Doesn't amaysim understand this will cost them more in customer relations and experience due to the surge of people requesting refunds. Woulda made sense like most companies to allow it for people who have purchased and block from this point of time onward. I sense they awakened the spirit of OzBargain, we are the fury.

  • Does everyone have this banner on their account page?
    http://i.imgur.com/QMdyvfj.png

    • I just went through this process (am not TPG customer).
Nope I do not have that. My PDF invoice also looks interesting.
      It shows this:

      Unlimited 2GB $29.90
      $29.90 for 6 months of UNLIMITED 2GB $0.00
$29.90 for 6 months of UNLIMITED 2GB. TPG customer promo. $0.00

Confused (as there are two lines).. what do others have on their PDF invoice?

      • Im not tpg i ordered on the 25th but just initiated the port process last night.
My pdf invoice mentions nothing about tpg.
I have this line twice on my invoice:

        $29.90 for 6 months of UNLIMITED 2GB $0.00

I've saved my pdf incase they try and do a sneaky edit.

Seems like at some point they caught on they had stuffed up and slipped in the extra line in on the invoices so they wont have to honour those ones.

        Hopefully theyll honour mine.

      • -2

In other words you're paying full price lol

        • What's so funny?

To me, the line below means $29.90 for 6 months of UNLIMITED calls and 2GB of data per month. The wording is a bit ambiguous, but that was what the exact deal was.

          "$29.90 for 6 months of UNLIMITED 2GB $0.00"

        • -2

@f1ng3rs: It says TPG CLEARLY, so you're going to be charged full price if you weren't from TPG.

      • so i ordered the port/sim on 24th
got the sim on the 27th and ported that night

        my invoice says:
        Unlimited 2GB $29.90
        $29.90 for 6 months of UNLIMITED 2GB $0.00
        $29.90 for 6 months of UNLIMITED 2GB $0.00

        oh im from voda
