or add a 32GB MicroSD card to your Wireless 3G/4G router and your good to go.

But still cheaper by $8.50 than best price on ebay

    • How do I do that? Which router do I need?

Edit: Shame this 32Gb model does not support exFAT file system. Only the 64GB model does :(

You are getting this because (like me) you made the mistake of buying a tablet lacking an SD-card expansion slot.
Why make the same mistake again?

    $25 for a 3G wifi pocket modem with SD-slot, e.g.:
    http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/optus-huawe…

    And add a cheap SD-card or two, e.g. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/216229

As a bonus, you get 3G data :-)

edit: beaten :( . Should not have wasted time on those links.

      Optus 3G? Yuck! :P

    • You go through a web browser to view the content on these right?

      • Web browser for admin, but I would have hoped they support SMB file sharing and DLNA for media streaming. Anyone?
(Android does not do SMB, except rooted and 3rd party software. IOS - no chance.)

        • iOS users can stream content via SAMBA using nplayer. Best purchase I've made on the App Store. Plays everything I've chucked at it.

I have yet to find one of these wifi devices that appears as a samba share. If anyone knows of any please tell me :) I've purchased various 3G/4g dongles as well as this and the HP pocket streamer. All don't do it.

Thanks T the A is missing.

  • Not recommended, slow and the software never works well at all.

  • Its good for security so can avoid plugging it in home computers and still it in to other places.

    I have one
    A few things
It contains a microsd card that can be upgraded
The android app is c**p crashed on all 3 of my devices (all running lollipop or higher)
IOS app is much better, but limited support for codecs
    Battery life is good
Transfer speed on PC isnt fast

    • Can I ask, whats the file format that its reads? Mac ? If it doesn't support exFAT then hoe do you load large files onto it?

      • Fat32 only, won't work on the large files., I tried :-(

        • +1

Yep Fat32 only even if you put in a bigger card you have to format it to fat32, so 4Gb is the max size for 1 files. Works with my macbook

    • Agree. The android app seems pretty flakey on both a Nexus4 and a Nexus7. Not a bad idea - but the implementation is woeful.

  • Got one and I use it with my nexus 7 tablet (2nd gen). Works most of the time. Occasionally it would freeze and I just reset the connection. Other than that, its great storing heaps of videos and magazines and I read and watch.

    For the price can't complain.

  • What's watching videos like on an iPad?

    • Fyi i tried making it work on my moms iPad 2, couldn't make it to work.

      • Thanks. Is there a San Disk app or do you use something like VLC?

        • +2

Both actually, app to access the files and you choose the player, vlc, to play the file.

Will not play file extensions with mkv but if you manually rename each file from mkv to mp4, will play with vlc even if the codec is mkv.

          @harkoliar:

Less effort than using HandBrake to convert but still too much effort.

        • +1

          @sween64:

It did change my habits ensuring my vids are all not mkv and just around 400-500 MB per video. Won't make a huge difference if I have a 1080 vs HD quality on a small 7inch tablet

  • So you can read from it wirelessly but can't write unless plugged in to a USB port?

  • Just wondering wouldn't this be better ?

    have one of this… rubbish…. dont bothered…

  • Hi, did you mean the original (SanDisk) or the last item (Kingston)? Thanks

  • Question for those that have this drive. Can I plug this into a desktop (accessing it as a usb) and then wireless connect with my laptop - using it to seamlessly move files between the two PCs?

  • are there any devices like this that supports samba shares instead of a proprietary network file format?
