This sounds like a great deal.

I'm having trouble downloading the Victorian Coles catalogue. Both of the downloads seem to link to the current catalogue rather than the one starting on Wednesday.

    • +2
      • Unfortunately the link brought up last weeks catalogue with the Finish tablets on the front page. It may have something to do with our network. I'll give it a go tomorrow. I managed to get the Sydney catalogue working so I've got a basic idea of the specials, but I know some of the fresh food and dairy specials might be different.

  • +1

Target had them at 50% off before which was posted here. And Woolies last year (close to Xmas) had them 50% off as I bought one before going overseas.

  • Does anyone know if this can be used to buy subscription?

    • +2

      yes it does.

    • +1

Yes, I bought one using gift cards, you have to ensure you have the full amount in credit via gift cards to be able to buy the subscription. E. G. You can't use your $110 credit to buy a $116 subscription - they don't let you split the payment between credit card and gift card… I find that very frustrating personally.

      • So you can use multiple gift cards like 1 x $100 and 1 x $20?

        • +1

          Yes correct.

    • From:
      https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA1781/how-can-i-pay-for-a-…

How can I pay for a subscription?
You can pay for a subscription by credit card, PayPal, Skrill (Moneybookers), bank transfer and other local payment methods. You can also pay using Skype Credit if you have the required balance on your account.

You can choose to pay every month, every 3 months or every 12 months. Your subscription is renewed automatically at the end of the initial period, and the recurring payment will be made with the payment method you used to sign up1. You can cancel the subscription at any time.

This is very very tempting - year of unlimited calls for less than $60

  • they go very fast so get in quick.

  • +5

They have been half price at Coles before however my local Coles always runs out on the first day they go on sale, and they won't do rain checks in these.

  • +2

TA. YOU ARE ON FIRE TODAY!

Good work. At this rate you'll be 1,000 posts tomorrow.

  • Bugger. Bought it while Target was having a 40% discount a month ago.

    • Yea, I did the same thing as we'll.. Wonder whether I should buy more at 50% to stock up haha

      • Guess you can, but then again in an year's time one would think this sale would come up again.
Do not think it will go down even further though. Wonder if its through Skype or stock clearance on retailers end?

        • I have been watching Skype Card deal since the "Skype Gift Card" launch in Australia. The best deal I have ever seen is 50%. So, get it!! :-)
I have stocked more than $300 in my skype account.

  • Who's using their Gifte cards from eBay to purchase this? :D SAVING OVERLOAD!!!

  • I have around 8 months of my subscription left.
I am wondering if I pay AU$116.49 for Skype Premium Unlimited - 12 months, will it extended my subscription for another 12 months giving me 20 months of subscription from now OR will it just extend it to 12 months from now ?
I know the latter is a bit illogical but skype Web site does not explain it properly.

    • +1

Although the latter sounds a bit illogical but I think that might be the case… I think in your account, it will show you two subscriptions running simultaneously…. But I might be wrong.

    • +2

Go into your Skype account web page and check your subscription details. If it's like mine then it will show the Next Payment date and amount, which is when your subscription renewal will occur. Also make sure it says "Paid with Skype Credit"; if not then click on Change Payment Method to make it so. Then load up your Skype credit with gift cards and in 8 months it should renew automatically.

My subscription renewed this way a couple of months ago, and I'll probably buy some of these half-price cards to top up my balance for next year's renewal.

  • darn it and I thought 40% off at target was good. Ah well I already used the the voucher for the unlimited call Australia and 50 other countries so phone bills for the whole year is set

    • Same here. Have learnt now that calls to 1300 and 1800 numbers are not included. I thought these numbers were classified as "landline"

Alex: Hi, I have a current 12 month premium subscription under my account <removed>
Austinn C: Good to hear. How can we help you with that?
Alex: I am wondering what will happen if I purchase another 12 months in 1 month? will my current subscription be extended by 12 months?
Alex: my current subscription still has more than 6 months to go…
Austinn C: Will you be purchasing the same subscription for 12 months?
      Alex: yes, same product
Austinn C: All right. It's good thing you contacted us first before you purchased it, Alex.
Alex: I have Skype Premium 300 mins - 12 months … what happens if I buy another one?
      Austinn C: Yes
Austinn C: This will actually not work.
Austinn C: You will only be able to use the new subscription after the current one expires.
Austinn C: What you can do though is to purchase something a different subscription.
Austinn C: In your case, something with lower or higher minutes.
Alex: yes, but then I would loose the current one I own, right?
Alex: as I have used it already
Austinn C: You would not lose the current subscription, Alex. In effect, you would have two active subscriptions with different minutes.
Austinn C: Skype will prioritize the one with more minutes though
Alex: ok, thanks … different question then: how long does my skype credit last? I currently have $1.54 remaining I think
      Austinn C: Sure thing
Austinn C: Skype credits do not expire. It will deactivate itself if unused for more than 180 days though. You only re-activate it with just one click though. No worries.
Alex: when you say deactivate, does that mean I do not loose it?
Alex: I thought credit is only valid for 6 or 12 months
Austinn C: Yes you will not lose it but you will be unable to use it until you re-activate it,
Austinn C: Well no, as Skype credits do not expire.
Alex: ok, thank you for your help
info: Your chat transcript will be sent to <removed> at the end of your chat.
Austinn C: You’re welcome. I'm glad I was able to help you out. I would really appreciate your feedback for today.

      • So, correct me if I am wrong but it looks like I will have to wait 8 months before I'll be able to use my Skype credits and that time they may not have 30% off for unlimited annual subscription.

        • why not buy the above discounted skype credit vouchers now ( valid for 12 months from date of purchase) and sit on it for 7-8 months then redeem them to your account?

  • Got them last time they were 50% off at Coles. Bought $50 and helped get bonus flybuy points.

  • Will this apply to both $25 cards as well as the $10 cards?

    • Will this apply to both $25 cards as well as the $10 cards?

Their ad says 'all' so I'm assuming so. But you know what happens when you assume, right?

      • Thanks TA

  • I got these from target and thought that was a great deal this is even better, but would i need them?i have used my target ones on sub call 50 countries.
Does anyone know about the premium thing on skype,i got a code on here last year which gave me free skype premium account which i think expires in dec, will i need to pay for premium and if so what does it cost or does that 50 countries calls thing cover it?
and what about a skype number is this not something that can be paid for if so how much is that and can this be used for that,im trying to think what i can use these for to make my skype even better.
Or can i just keep them for a while and use another time.

    • anyone got any feedback on the above,as i said i like the deal but got this in target not long ago,so wondering what i can use it for,i have got the 50 countries subscription thing, but is the premium thing extra i got this free sometime ago from here this is due to expire dec,but my 50 country thing last just short of a year now and again i was thinking of a skype number,i think this is hald prce being a premium member at a month cost again could i cover myself with the coles skype cards?

  • -7

hmm, anyone can help me buy some, i am overseas and i also want to have the unlimited skype man. email me [email protected] if you are willing to help me to buy, i mean if you are going just buy a little more, why not? :)

  • +3

I think they have changed countries to which u can call last they had india and bangladesh but this time I cant see them in the list so make sure before u buy

    • This almost kills the deal - so there's no subscription for unlimited India calling, can't find any? just pay as you go?

      • Yes…. i was waiting for the 50% off deal for a long time..but no use as they removed India from the list.Soon we can expect more 50% off deal from Big W and Woolworths and in Aus post by Nov or Dec.

      • The premium subscription I am using since 16/06/14 has unlimited call to 50 countries including India with good call quality.

        • Yup - but removed recently :(

  • Prefer Viber (FREE).

    • +2

skype is free too, the only reason you want Skype credit is you can choose to dial land lines/mobile numbers across anywhere in the world while you're on 3G or WiFi, anywhere in the world as well.

      • or WiFi, anywhere in the world as well.

I've always wonder a bit about this - does it mean that if you bought a premium subscription in OZ, then when you are somewhere overseas, you can still use that subscription to make the "allocated" free calls to the included countries? Or, does the subscription work only if you are calling from within OZ?

        • +3

I would assume Skype is more concerned on where you're calling to, rather than where you're calling from, so yes, as long as you have access to decent internet, and logged in to your Skype account, you may start using your subscribed minutes.

Someone else will have to correct me if I was wrong.

        • +1

          Thanks annoynimous & ntongeng!

        • I know a friend of mine from aus who has the $116 subscrption, could use skype when he was travelling to newzealand. So I think you can use it from anywhere in the world as long as you are connected to a wifi or 3G.

        • I have had my subscription suspended permanently because I shared the login with my brother who lives in the US. So Skype would have detected that the account is being used from two different locations at the same time.

So don't share the login and you'll be alright.

  • +3

annoynimous, you are not wrong. I used Skype premium and loving it. I have also set up account for friends who are not living in OZ and they have no problem making calls.

    • How did you do it? My mum only got landline and no internet. If I get the premium subscription, can I set her up to call me. Thanks for everyone's responses..

  • I bought the Target 40% off deal a month back and have been using skype to make overseas calls since. I know I can also make local calls with Skype. So I am thinking I will change my $49 unlimited sim only plan with vodafone to a $30 or smaller value plan and start making local calls with Skype whenever possible. This will save me a good $19 pm that I can use towards paying a mobile phone.
Has anyone tried calling 1800/1300/13 nos from Skype?

    • "Has anyone tried calling 1800/1300/13 nos from Skype?"

I tried with the monthly subscription, it is NOT included. Basically, it will charge from your skype balance.

      • Actually, I have called 1800 numbers from skype a number of times now and they are free.

  • +2

The last Skype card I got, the number on the back was scratched off when using a coin. I'd get the attendant to scratch it off for you tbh

  • Hi, new to Skype subscription. How does it work? Is it like a calling card? Do you need a special phone or separate landline to use this? Website not every helpful with explanation. Thank you in advance.

    • You can use the Skype app on your desktop/laptop, smartphone. There are special Skype handsets if you want to have a handset dedicated for the purpose at home.

I would use the smartphone app, if you have one already.

As long as you have a net connection at home wifi or roaming on the 3G/4G network, Skype can be used.

    • +1

Skype uses VOIP (voice over IP) so anytime you're on the internet (ie using IP) from any device you can run Skype and make calls, PROVIDED you have the Skype app installed (available free to download for Windows, Android, Apple etc) AND you have speaker/microphone AND you have a current Skype subscription you can call anyone. If you call Skype user to Skype user its free of charge, Skype to land line or mobile number costs (but not much!!). Hope that all helps :-)

      • I'm looking to replace my landline with skype. Can people call my skype number from a home phone/mobile? Or do they need to be calling from skype as well?

        • If you have a skype number, they can call you skype number as they normally call a landline. So, they can call you from a home phone, mobile or skype liked voip services.

  • +1

Guys, be very careful while scratching off the card, Skype cards are known to have poor quality when it comes to scratching off the code. Coles won't help you if the code is accidentally scratched off.

    • +5

Download a barcode reader to your phone to read the card. Had the same issue last time with the woolworth 50% cards.

  • I don't see India in the 50 countries list by Skype:(

    http://www.skype.com/en/rates/?intcmp=CS-Upsell-FA10917-4

  • For those who think their country to call is missing.
Why not wait till last week or even a day of your current subscription expiry & then renew it.
You'll lose 1 week as 2 subscription will run simultaneously.
But should have the same subscription extended.
Just a thought, or us that not possible ?

    • Might work for already subscribed users - but some like me were waiting for this kind of deal to start with subscription.

  • +1

The 50% discount is not valid at Coles, Wynard in Sydney. Just purchased 3 x $10 cards at normal price for upcoming trip to Europe- FYI

    • +1

      Hi all
Just a quick update. I went back to Coles Wynard for an explanation as to why the discount doesn't apply. I was told that since Coles Express Central, Wynard isn't a supermarket the discount doesn't apply. Received a refund and I'll be heading off to Coles at World Square, confirmed with rep that the discount applies there.

  • Nice work OP TA, just picked up 4x $25 & 2 x $10 at Coles Neutral Bay. Plenty still available.

  • None in Coles bondi junction or Eastgate :(

    • Really? When I was there Bondi Junction at 10am they had tons

  • If I will buy 12 card of $10 worth, then can I use them to apply for premium subscription or I have to have a single card only with amount $116 or higher to opt for premium membership.

How does this gift card thing work? Is it not like the top up amount which you will keep adding on to the account and then they all will accumulate and you then choose which subscription you need to opt.

Also as now India is not in the premium unlimited list, does anyone know the next best option to call India.

    Thanks in advance.

    • Yes, I just did the same thing. I bought 4x$25 and 2x$10 and used them to buy a 1 year premium subscription.

  • At Coles Indooroopilly (Brisbane) this morning I bought 7 x $10 cards and now they have none left.
I would buy a few more if I could.

  • +2

    Guys,

The Country List just got shorten.

India and few more countries have been removed.

Please be care full before you buy.

    I am getting this refunded.

    • I wonder what will happen to the existing premium subscribers.
Also are they going to keep those removed countries if we renew our subscription later on

  • +1

    managed to get 30 x $10 cards,
coles karawara, east vic park, and carousel (Perth) still have plenty of them.

  • plenty left at chatswood coles westfield

  • Have a question regarding skype, recently got the premium through this deal and been wanting to use skype as my default dialler. However when I try dialling out it doesn't let me choose between my normal dialler or skype. Do I always have to dial out through the skype app? I have a note 3

    • +1

See if you can clear defaults of your dialer, but on some phones (e.g.Nexus 5) you can't. So I'm using a 3rd party dialer app as a workaround.

      • I went down the 3rd party dialer app, pretty happy with it so far. Thanks for the suggestion

  • +1

Went to my local Coles who are out of stock, so went to Officeworks, plenty of stock, and asked for a price match.

They were not happy about it but they did the price match, after I produced the catalogue.

    • Did they give you the 5 percent off as well?

      • No, they were so unhappy about the whole thing I did not push it.

(Each card had to be discounted one by one, then activated one by one)

        • Oh that's annoying considering their lowest price guarantee includes products that are on sale but I'm glad they at least price matched it!

    • thanks i got a price match @ OW too.. They were annoyed as hell too !

  • Skype used to have India and Canada in Premium Subscription but its not showing now.

    • i think they changed the countries list.

  • no numbers showing

  • -6

Went in yesterday morning and today said did not come in yet???

  • Hi.

I can confirm that they still have Skype gift cards at Bondi Junction Westfield Coles, both $10 and $25 (if you call them they will mistakenly tell you that they only have $10 - this is wrong. The $25 cards are hidden behind the tens.

On another subject does anyone know how to buy skypein with the gift cards?

    • -1

None at Burwood never came in.

      • My mother lives in Burwood so initially I called them to ask about availability. The lady on the phone claimed that although they didn't have any stock to start with, they should arrive in a couple of days.

        • +1

          Still none at Burwood.

      • I don't get the negative votes for highlighting no stock at at my local store Burwood . I made two special trips to purchase yet no explanation why they don't have stock especially when other stores have them .

        • Your first comment was negged because 5+ people thought that your negative vote on the deal was an invalid use of a negative vote on the deal.

That had nothing to do with lack of stock in the Burwood store. Pointing out lack of stock is useful. Thanks.

Your second comment was negged by me. I don't recall why I did that. Sorry. I am not able to revoke it now.

  • I bought some last night at Lane Cove and there were a lot left.
There were non left at Epping on Wednesday.

  • None left in perth :( Went and checked on the 3rd.

  • Does anyone know why these companies do half priced Skype gift cards? Does Skype give them some sort of discount to do that?

  • i just went to concord shop, they still got some for $10 cards

  • has any one seen any stock in perth ,metro region. pls let me know.. need to buy lots of them as i spend at least 100 dollars every 3months.thanks in advance.

    • non - metro is also fine, but not that far off..

  • JUST BE CAREFUL.
Just signed up on Sunday and INDIA is not included in the premium service.
Had signed up 2 weeks ago under another username and got India as part of it. Anyone got any suggestions what to do. Only signed up to call India. Thanks

  • If you live in Sydney, there are still a lot of stocks in Leichhart and some in Ashfield. There are no stocks in Burwood and Rhodes

    • unfortunately :( i live in perth but thanks
