I honestly liked his other older films. I didn't like the last 2 Shaolin Soccer or kung fu hustle. I felt there was too much reliance on using CGI effects rather making a funny joke or scene. Where in older films practial effects didn't look so cringe.

Not sure why you got negged. Is it a good movie yes. But for the most part it appeals to the larger audiences. In terms of creativity there's other ones much better. There's better romance, action, comedy routines in his older movies if you can understand the references if the era.
Stephen is the classic troll in his movies which is what makes it great.. well ahead of the times back in the 90s.

It depends on your sense of humour, but I think so. It's not a serious soccer nor martial arts movie at all. If you do end up enjoying it, then I also recommend Kung Fu Hustle which is a spiritual sequel, of sorts.

Streamed it last weekend. Have probably watched it 7 or 8 time and never gets old.
Remember getting bootleg VCDs one day of this and Love on a Diet from Chinatown while they were still running in theatres in Hong Kong, along with every episode of Trigun and Yu Yu Hakusho.
Seemed like a decade passed before Shaolin Soccer was actually released in Australia but it was just 3 years and all this seems like it happened a decade ago, but it's now almost 25…

I use adblockers to watch amazon prime with ads (but… lol without ads) I should point out though that sbs on demand detects the adblocker (even when disabled in the browser per site) and won't load the movies. You'll need a seperate browser without any adblocker.

This and Kung Fu Hustle. CJ7 went downhill and not recommended. If you like his works, go way back to his original classic comedies!
