        Bloatware and poor resale value?

        • +4

          Bloatware and poor resale value

Barfware and Poor Farts resale value.
          Thats how I’d describe it.

          • @YoursTruly: Poor resale is subjective, you can keep trading in and upgrading to the top models for $400 a year. I could get 3 ultras over 6 years for RRP of iphone

            • +1

@Archer12: I"m a little out of the loop on phone… but isn't the S24 Ultra just under $2k vs the iPhone Pro Max just over $2k?

              • -1

@The Hawk: RRP yes, but go trade in s24u for s25u, you can upgrade for $400 bucks- ish

                • @Archer12: Nah I love my S24U & Samsung seems to have gone downhill with the 25U. I bought mine outright too so I don't think it would be possible to upgrade that cheaply

                • @Archer12: Doesn't that kind of require an initial purchase of one?

For the aforementioned "just over $2k"?

                  How is that cheaper?

YouTube Revanced and Spotify xmanager. I haven't paid for YouTube premium or Spotify for years

Hard for a bargain to beat outright theft.

          • -3

@[Deactivated]: I agree, outright theft is the better choice.

            • +9

@TheDukeOfNukem: Bruh mate, you can’t steal from trillion-dollars corporations, only they are allowed to steal from you

            • @TheDukeOfNukem: It actually is though. I mean as if the cops are going to bust you for it & YouTube & Spotify make buckets as money as it is..

I’d still pay for Apple Music because they have the widest and easiest-to-access library of lossless music.

BUT if there is a lossless music streamer that’s just as easy to use and for free, then please show me and I’ll use that instead.

(And also I mainly listen to music from films and/or video games, as well as some solo artists and bands that only really have streaming presence and no CDs or DRM-free downloads).

Any options/ alternatives similar to those for iOS?

          • +1

@YoursTruly: Yes by sideloading. Check out the sideloaded subreddit. e.g uYouPlus is essentially revanced

            • @pparanoidd: I have no idea what sideloading is but will check it out

              Thanks

        • Lol to all the actual vermin negative repping this comment.

Hard seething that they pay hundreds a month to still see ads

      • Why are you pulling Samsung into this?

        • +6

Tends to be the loudest anti Apple crowd. Pixel owners seem to be happy enough with their purchase where they don’t need to fling shit at the other side.

An OS that doesn't make it impossible for you to switch to another OS.

        • Makes (some) sense.
They’re called Android phones for a reason.

meh, currently using free 3 mth offer…

  • +2

Can it be redeemed only on apple devices?

    • You can listen to Apple Music on many popular streaming devices, smart TVs, Android devices and gaming consoles. You can redeem at apple.com/music.

  • +5

Apple Music is so good for deals. I’ve probably paid $50 over 2 years at this point.

    • Show me your ways… been a subscriber for 3-4 years…. probably 6 months of that time free, another 6ish months of half price. The rest of that time subbed at the regular rate $10.99-12.99 as its risen etc.

Only have first month free offer

    • If you have already used Apple Music, the chances are you won't be able to redeem this offer. This offer is for eligible new subscribers redeeming on eligible devices and not available for people eligible for a 3-months-free Apple Music offer.

      • Thank you I think you are right. My wife has this offer.

    Only getting 1mth when I open/click
    Not worth it

  • I only have the three months free offer. I suppose it’s wishful thinking that you could activate that offer then tack this one on somehow

  • +1

Meh 1 month only for me.

  • +1

Got absolutely nothing, not even 1 month but that’s fine I have EeveeSpotify and Argentinian Tidal account.

    • How did you get to keep your argentinian tidal after the bans they rolled out?

Have malaysian tidal, hit more pricey but still alot
Cheaper than anything else for family plan..

      • My brother lives in Argentina and pays for a family account, he told me not long ago that there was a price increase but it’s still way cheaper than Australia.

  • Damn, I just offloaded my Ipad mini.

  • Still on my 18 month Spotify thingy a while back

  • If you open Shazam there is link that will always give you a month or two for free.

    • I have one month free available from this link, two months from shazam.

Do you think they stack or is it a one or the other deal?

    • Have been doing this and the last one expired last week. Now it shows “code limit has been reached. You have already redeemed the maximum number of these codes per Apple Account”. :(

  • damn, i only have 1 month free

  • +1

3 months for the price of 1 - meh, I’ll just continue with YT Music.

  • Works for me. Thanks for the heads up.

  • Use VLC or CloudBeats and play your music files from cloud storage like Google Drive or Dropbox.

You can download copyright free audio from YouTube with this command (You need home-brew and yt-dlp)
    yt-dlp -x —audio-format mp3 —audio-quality 0 —embed-thumbnail —add-metadata "YOUTUBEURL"

    For local storage
With VLC, Connect your iPhone to your computer, Open Finder, Navigate to the iPhone Files tab> VLC> Drag and drop your music and video files for local storage

    No subscriptions needed

Never found value in subscription services when I can have full ownership and control of my data without interference imposition of arbitrary rules from the big tech.

        • I've seen Napster days. My beef began when my iTunes library got destroyed.

Even better just run spotdl. Paste any artist, track, album, playlist and it’ll download all the music from YouTube and attach the appropriate metadata. Haven’t subbed to anything since I started using it. Takes 10 seconds to have a new album. Go to gigs. Buy merch.

      • +1

        Go to gigs. Buy merch.

        Agree. Support the creators directly.

  • +4

3 for price of 1, lame! Good deal.

  • +1

My main issue is everytime I try Apple Music and then eventually drop it. It (AM) deletes all my playlist. Which provides less incentive to return to it each time. That and for all its faults (and there are a lot), Spotify really tries to make new features within their app. AM is the so stale and poor for finding new music, such an unintuitive UI/UX.

  • +1

I'm getting 3 for the price of 1.

  • +1

So do I need to cancel my current monthly sub and heck to see what offer they have when I jump back on a day later….?

  • Only got 3 months, looks like we can't cancel straightaway otherwise we lose the free trial - annoying.

  • Last time I tried Apple Music (on a Windows desktop) it was constantly buffering and could take 20 seconds to play a new song. (Tidal/Deezer in high quality play fine)

Anybody else have that problem on Windows? I don't think it was that common.

    • Best to upgrade your windows 95
