  • not bad

  • How much is it normally ?

  • Not a bad deal. A 6" and drink purchased separately would be around $7-8 as Eastern says above. Some stores offer a deal with 6" and drink for $6.50, but this deal definitely beats that!

  • +2

It's not a cup of drink, it's actually a 390 ml bottle of a Coke variety, at least at the franchise I bought from. Had one tonight. It's ok, but I preferred the previous $3 sub offer since I can provide my own can of Preppie for 50c. :) But this offer has 6 sub varieties whereas the $3 offer was only ham or meatballs.

    • I received a cup of drink when I bought it today

      • The franchise I visited had bottles depicted on the poster.

        • +3

Not all franchises offer fountain drinks.

    • The fine print in the ad says a regular cup of drink is 473mls. You got ripped off…

      • 100 ml of which will be useless ice.

        • Subway = self serve?

  • +1

This is available at UWS Parramatta campus, great uni feed on a budget! I can also confirm it is a 390ml bottle; not cup.

    • +1

You guys are getting ripped off. A regular drink is 473mL!

      • In my experience, fountain soda doesn't taste as good.

        • Depends on the individual. I actually prefer fountain.

        • We're not here for tastes, we're here for bargains.

        • Drink tap water then, it's free. :P

        • Not if you drink it at home.

        • +1

Does your mum charge you? :)

        • No, but local council does :(

  • +6

    No chicken, no deal. :(

    • +1

    • I'll start with the KFC Streetwise $5 Box deal

    • Mcdonalds have $5.95 meals with that Lunch Card between 12 & 2. Bigmac and Mc Chicken options.

    • MADMEX, atleast at Southern Cross Station in Melbourne CBD, do $5 single Taco plus drink deal.

    • Stunner Meals from HJs

    • soup kitchen!?

  • What's the deal with the thumbnail image? One would think they would want the free advertising.

    • +12

subway is a high class sandwich gallery with its own artists and creative directors, not a dingy fast food outlet to be associated with bargain sites

      Here's the backstory: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/82355#comment-1067633

Yes I know about the copyright fair case especially regarding to thumbnails — there were prior cases in US where copyright claims have been over-turned. In fact those are usually my first reply whenever someone claims copyright over thumbnails or text snippets on OzBargain violating their IP.

However you'll see that those are court cases in US. Without a prior case in Australia, the only way to find out is trial in the court here. And the big companies know that most small shops won't have the money nor time nor energy to go through these.

Subway came back citing thumbnail is not covered by Australian Copyright Act of 1968 as Fair Use (yeah right, "thumbnail images" in 1968). However you expecting me to argue against that in court? Took me half an hour draw up "5UBW4Y CLAIMS THUMBNAILS INFRINGE COPYRIGHT" on Gimp, updated our screenshot server to always return that if domain is Subway, and get that over and done with (hopefully).

good deal. subway is a rip at regular prices.

  • +2

    Mmm nothing like 5UBW4Y…

Much more healthy than mc donalds! Actually nothing can compare.

  • +1

+1 because a bargain is a bargain. However those 6" subs are $5 all the time, so really all this deal is is a free regular drink. Unfortunately at my Subway the regular drink is that horrible watered down Coke.

And +1 for the OPs username

    • +1

+1 for the +1 for my name! lol

      • +1 for the +1 comradery

        • +1

+1 for the rush of love

    • Yeah, same here at the Exhibition St store (Melbourne CBD). I didn't bother with the post mix drink, but I still grabbed the cup and filled it with ice, then filled that with the filtered tap water here in the office.

    • They're $5.25 at some stores in Melbourne so you actually save 25 cents with the deal.

  • Yay ham sammiches!

  • The subway down the road from my work was offering $6.50 for the same subs but footlong (no drink). I don't know if this deal has replaced that but if it hasn't I reckon the footlong is a better deal. If it's too much food, have it for lunch the next day… ($3.25/6" - no drink).

  • Be sure to take your ruler along. It might be only 5.5 inches long:)

  • me and my mate are deciding what to have for lunch .. budget is $10

    • 2 of these subway/drink deal or
    • $9 for 9 KFC deal (i have my own 50c pepsi cans)
    • If going KFC, how will you decide who gets the 5th piece of chicken?

  • It's valid at the UNSW branch, just got Turkey with a 390ml bottle of Coke.

  • -1

Pffft, a sandwich for lunch you can make at home. Be a man and eat an Ultimate Double Whopper.

  • Got this today in Geelong. The drink was a regular cup.

  • It's meant to be a small cup. Regular or a water/390ml coke is +1 dollar, or it's +2 dollar for large etc. They had a sign posted on top of the cash register (A real one, not a drawn up one) at my subway here in the horrible land of Canberra.
