How on earth is an HJ's coffee worth $4.75

    • +3

      I checked its menu price.

      • +5

I'm not doubting your accuracy, just how ridiculous that price seems

        • +5

FYI, McCafe prices it at $4.60.

          • +1

@Neoika: Isn't a Hungry Jack's coffee just a one button affair from a superautomatic machine? A Maccas coffee is more labour intensive and costs less - seems wrong to me

            • @beltdrive: If I am not mistaken some HJ locations have the normal Barista machines now, maybe HJ is upgrading after renovations.

              • @utsc: Ahh ok fair enough. Haven't been to HJs in a few years

              • +2

@utsc: The few HJ locations that I've been to in the last 4 or so years all have the proper barista machines with manual operation.

                • @OzBarAnon: I just moved and have HJs near me. Its Baristas and decsnt. Given the cafe now charges like 8 for ice latte.. HJs is 3.

    • +4

It is regularly discounted on the app.
I think $2 is about the norm.

      • +1

yep always getting shake and win for 2 or 3 bucks for a large

      • +2

Yes, large for $3 via App deal atm.

      • Their pricing is whack. Small fries $2.60, medium fries $2.50.

        • Wait seriously?! Who on earth would order a small fries then?

        • In store Menu price, or in app? Sounds like an error to me!

          • @Craze: Both in app and in store. It's because the medium chips are currently on their Penny Pinchers menu for $2.50, but they don't bother changing small to be less than that. Large frozen drinks are also on Penny Pinchers for $2, but at least they've also made small $1 and medium $1.50.

        • Medium chips is part of their penny pinchers
          @nightelves @Craze

    • +2

Yeah honestly when a 7-11 one is $2 then that's the value of all other poo-tier dishwashing liquid tasting ones..

      • Dishwashing liquid, or dishwater tasting coffee?

      • +3

Coles (Reddy Express) sell by far the best automated servo coffee in town. 7-Eleven’s tastes like old homeless man’s sweaty feet in comparison.

        • +1

This, and you can do a medium in a small cup and just stop the milk early if you like your coffee strong.

    • +1

Thats their menu price, but in reality there is usually a coffee promo running of some kind. Large coffees have been $3 at HJ for weeks now if ordering through the app.

    • +1

It's not , that's the price they charge.

  • +2

    Not in my app.

    • Maybe you have ordered coffee in the App before as this kind of freebie always tries to bring new customers in.

    • +17

Wasn’t until my app until I closed and reopened and then it appeared.

      • this helped me, cheers

      • Good call, that worked for me. Appears there now.

      • +1

        Worked for me too.

        1st open 2 rewards
        2nd open 4 rewards

        🤣

      • Same

      • This- had to force close app on two phones and re-launch for the free coffee to appear in rewards. Thanks heaps!

  • Got it. Thanks 🙏

  • Thanks

  • +1

Think they will withdraw the offer before 7/04?

  • +2

Friends don't let friends pay $4.75 for a Medium Coffee
In all seriousness, $4.75 for a Coffee? Bruh!

    • +1

Friends don't let friends buy coffee from fast food joints or convenience stores.

    • First world problems, but particularly for how inconsistent it is. Personally, I can't stand the taste without a sweetener or syrup. But then it becomes quite unhealthy.

Good as a once off for free, or in a pinch for $2-3, but $4.75 is quite excessive imo.

    • "Aussie may pay $7 for a coffee soon"; "A homemade coffee only cost $1.65", said by Joel Gibson on 9 News. Watch it here if you want to get to the bottom of all costs.

    • Most mediums are $5.50ish now in Melbourne.
But yes, this could only be on the same level as a $2 cup of 7-11 dishwashing liquid.

      • $2 for a small coffee there.

The main difference is automatic machine serve versus staff serve.

  • +3

The amount of money people spend of coffee is mind blowing.

    • +1

      It's wallet blowing.

    • Agreed. I do it as a last resort if I haven't had time to make my own or as a treat. But an oat latte with caramel syrup is $7-8 for a small most places now. Crazy.

  • Got it. Thanks

  • Legend. Thanks

  • It says I need to spend $1

    • +2

      Redeem offer at cashier

You need to spend $1+ on other item(s) to redeem offer in App.

  • One time use?

    How 'good' is HJ coffee?

    • $4.75 good! (Possibly)

      Worth 'free'? (Probably)

      • +1

        $4.75 good! (Possibly not)

        Worth 'free'? (Probably)

      • If it makes you evacuate your bowel contents into your pants (in public) then it might have negative value.

    • +1

HJ coffee ranges from great to terrible it changes wildly on who is working the machine & how much they rush. There is no consistency/

      • +1

As a rule, the more wrinkles on the HJ barista, the better the coffee. The more pimples, the worse.

      • I still remember one time last year, the girl who made my coffee was evidently trying hard and was doing latte art even though it was getting put into a takeaway cup with a lid on it. The art was pretty good too, bless her heart.

  • Is Maccers or Hungry Jacks coffee better?

    • +1

There is not too much difference IMO. A good barista definitely helps, so that is luck of the draw.

    • Coffee is the same but Maccas has Milklab not sure what HJ’s has?!

  • $3 large HJ coffee is good at this price

  • Found it in the app. thanks for sharing.

  • Do they have decaf? I find it tastes best with soy milk and artificial sweetener.

  • Thanks! Had not checked the app in 6 months, would have easily missed this

  • Don't seem to have it in my app? Unless it just hasn't updated.

    Just $2.50 2x hash brown and $3 cheeseburger+chips.

    • -3

If you haven't used those 2 coupons (they're single use) you won't get the new ones, well until those expire.

      • Not true, I've had 3+ vouchers before.

Turns out it did just need to refresh. Got 4 vouchers now including the free coffee.

    • +1

Just close the app and open it again and again if you still haven't seen it in Rewards section. The $2.5 hash brown and $3 cheeseburger+chips are also in my account. I have seen the free medium coffee in my account.

  • +1

    town water coffee ick!

    • got a problem with tap water? I get mine from Oberon.

  • -2

Maybe if they paid me 4.75 to drink it.

  • When we click on redeem offer in app button, it shows the price for Medium cappuccino as $2.95

    • See my comment here. In short, $2.95 may have stayed for a decade without updating to the current price.

  • +1

Made new account and it appeared in rewards section. Cheers

  • But i like their affogatto (coffee and soft serve) lol

  • +2

I went to the cashier and she refused to scan the barcode and just put it through her computer.
She says the code is not working most of the time.
So now I will have another cup of free coffee. 😆
    Thanks beautiful lady.

    • Brilliant. I’ve been doing this at Ampol for weeks now, not one servo has managed to scan my free voucher so I keep getting the coffee for free.
      Hopefully HJs is the same.
      Unlimited free coffees ftw.

    • When I got mine today the person in front of me had to scan her barcode 5 times before it worked and person after me had to scan 3 times so clearly the barcode scanning is an issue across the stores.

  • +1

If only more brought their own cup, it’s not hard to leave one in the car!!!

  • Got this, thanks OP.

    • Don't drink coffee at night, it affects your REM sleep.

      • Rarely these days unless if I need to power work over the night.
