Just ordered, +ve from me. Cheers Rep

    • my pleasure1

  • +1

Great work, just ordered a 5pack. good deal +1

  • +1

    Thanks dude.
I just ordered a 5 pack of 2m and a single 3m. So look for my pm and bundle them to maybe save a dollar or so postage for yourself.

    • Thanks for the thought :-) I always bundle though, although sometimes it pays not to. Cheers

  • +1

Argh… why are usb cables so tempting?

    • +1

Not all are tempting for me, just decent ones like these.

      • +1

Either way, I just feel compelled to click on any usb deal that pops up here lol

      • +6

Thanks for the support of my products :-) I am looking at getting even better ones, with 20AWG copper wires in them but I have to order 3000 at a time because they are a special order. I just got some samples in and they are pretty darned good for stuff that needs 2A power (tablets etc.) so once i can afford them I will get them in :-)

Anyway, thanks again for the support

        • +1

I'll order one or a few when you get them in. Just because everything I've ordered has arrived quickly in the past and you're obviously making an effort here for Ozbargainers.

    • cause if you keep your spared all in one place, it's always good to have spares, cause the ones you take with you you always lose :-) At least I do, I don't really keep my spares in one place, it's more that I just grab another one from my stock :-)

  • +6

Brents bits always know how to satisfy

    • I do what I can :-)

      • And she didn't even say so!

Unless cvas is a she, in which case that's what she said.

  • +3

Thanks Brent, picked up a few. Would have bought more but now I'm hanging out for those 20AWG cables. Would love to just have a bunch of high quality cables in the house and I can throw out all the crappy ones I've picked up over the years.

    • I'm not necessarily saying buy these regardless but the 20AWG will be a while, ordering 3000 at a time is a chunk of change so it might be two or three months.

    • Oh, and another thing, they won't be the same price as these cables. They won't be ridiculously more expensive but they will definitely cost more per cable, just FYI

      • +1

That's okay, I can be very patient. As long as they're less then the ~$20 for genuine cables that's ok with me

        • Yeah, it will be at least a dollar more per cable, depending on what the final pricing ends up being.

    • I also like the idea of better quality cables. Almost all of these cheap cables around the place use very thin wire … causing a voltage drop due to resistance. This is fine for most mobile phones, but it is not good for things like the Raspberry Pi, which needs a full 5V supply. Often the quality of the cable alone is the difference between stability and problems.

  • +1

Bought and plus one'd. Thanks Brent , these are good cables!

    • Thanks for your support

  • So is there a higher quality cable coming soon?

    • +1

Nope, a few months at least for me to be able to order the required minimum order quantity. Also, it won't be the same price, it will be more expensive by at least a dollar a cable.

      • Thanks for replying, just one questions, how will they be better?

        • 20AWG is a thicker wire than 28AWG. Thicker wires = better cables in terms of charge rate. I am not sure about the rate of data transfer to be honest, there was a lot of discussion last time I posted a deal and what I gleaned from it is that the thicker wire definitely affects the charge rate but it seemed inconclusive about whether it affected the rate of data transfer.

        • +1

I'm far from an expert on this topic but I'm pretty sure data rates are almost, if not entirely unaffected by the thicker core. Charge rates on the other hand are, I know that from comparing your cables to the crappy ones I'd been using up to that point.

        • That seemed to be the consensus but I couldn't find any websites where I could do some reading to confirm or deny. I'm happy to go with that theory until shown otherwise though.

    • Similar experience, Bought a Lightning cable on the last sale. Plugged it in to my iPhone 5, won't work. Tried other devices, also won't work.

Contacted Brentbits and got a reply 3 days later. Email back and forth but then get ignored in the end. I'm stuck with a useless cable.

      • In all fairness, that's not a similar situation.

All you need to do is return the cable for replacement, as advise in the listing's return policies. If it's DOA, just send it back and I will replace it.

The postage issue has been covered as well, just to pre-empt it, you pay postage back to me and then I pay it to ship the replacement back to you.

You may not think this is fair but you will find that Consumer Affairs Victoria agrees with me on this. Have a read of: http://www.consumer.vic.gov.au/shopping/refunds-and-returns/…

This gives you a lot of information on online purchasing, such as items lost in the post and what to do if something isn't working.

If I ended up ignoring you, I apologise. I can't see it as something I'd do, but if I did it I apologise.

What was the last email you received from me? Did it ask you to return the item to me?

    • +22

I don't know how many times I need to explain this to you.

I completely screwed up and shipped the wrong cable.
When I realised I had done this, I sent out an email to all who had bought it, I am not sure how you missed yours, whether it was me not emailing you or it going to your spam folder or whatever.
In that email I offered a full refund for the cable, in addition to you being able to keep the cable free of charge because it was my screw up.
The email you are referring to was one that was sent after the one above and all refunds had been given letting any customers that had previously purchased one from me know that I now had the correct cable in stock so they could buy one IF THEY STILL NEEDED ONE.
I have addressed this to you in a private email after you sent me an irate email in response to the second email I sent (the "I now have stock of the correct cable" email)
I have addressed this every time you have posted here on OzB and negged me on any deal I have offered.

So, hopefully that clears up the whole situation for you once and for all.

I have offered to sort anything out for you if you still needed sorting out, I have not heard from you asking me to do anything to resolve this situation. If you aren't willing to even ask for a refund (if it hasn't been given already, in addition to you keeping the free, albeit incorrect, cable) then kindly shut up and stay out of my threads.

I get you had a bad experience and I have never said it was anything but my fault. There is, however, nothing more I can do, so if your only purpose in the world is to continue bitching about something that happened 3 months ago and I have repeatedly offered resolution for, then maybe you need to reconsider your life choices.

      Seriously.

      • +2

I guess you can't satisfy them all Brents, lucky the rest of us are happy with your quality of service!

        • +1

Cheers mate, I do my best. I'm not infallible but I get it right 98.9% of the time (according to my feedback).

Some people have unreasonable expectations and often consider themselves to have rights with no responsibilities.

Like I said, I do what I can but I'm not perfect.

        • +1

It's okay, when dealing in volume it's only a matter of time sifting through the apple cart before you find a bad one. Same thing happened to me recently in my job, it's just a numbers game I'm afraid. Nothing wrong with 98.9% though.

Incidently, that last thing you said, I say that to my wife all the time :)

      • +2

Funny, I never emailed you about this, and have never negged your other threads. But hey, don't let it get in the way of a good story!

        • I must have been thinking of someone else, because this has happened before in other deal threads I have posted. Feel free to send me a message through eBay and I will check the status of the order and if the refund hasn't been processed, I can either process it now for you or I can send out the correct cable.

Apologies for the rant then, the situation is still as stated though. I assumed that it was the same person making the same comment again.

          Cheers

  • +1

Came online to get 3 Micro USB cables… checked OzB first and now got 5 :)

    • +2

It's always the way isn't it? Especially when coming on OzB :-)

  • +1

I ordered from you last night before this deal. I've just placed another order so feel free put both orders into one shipment (same username).

    • No worries, thanks for letting me know.

  • brentsbits: I have an old copper wood heater that is no longer used. Can I donate that to you and you melt it down to make some 20AWG cables with?

    • +7

I tried doing that once, even hired once of those chefs from the noodle places where you can watch them making the noodles through a window. We couldn't actually get the copper down to a suitable thickness without him burning his hands terribly, so unfortunately this just won't work!

      • +2

Ah, thats a shame, well thanks for considering the proposal.

And send my regards to the chef if he's still in the ER ward, it was for a worthy cause!

  • +1

Cheers Brent, you're like the cable guy on OzBargain.

    • lol, thanks, I do my best

  • +3

Any plans on getting some "charge only" micro USB cables? These cables have their data - and + wires shorted, so that Android devices can charge at full speed from Apple specific chargers.

    • +ve

    • Not at this stage sorry

    • So is that why some chargers are sold as Apple-only?

I accidently bought some recently and the guy said "sorry, but they won't work for your android", they do work, but I haven't noticed charge times, going by what you said, my android devices will charge slower on said charger?

      Interesting, never knew that.

      • +1

Yes, instead of shorting the data lines, Apple-specific chargers use a voltage divider between the lines. iPhones/iPads sense this and draw full current. Other devices that comply with the USB battery charging specification only see this as a "slow" charger and draw only 500mA.

You can get around this by hacking your own cable (shorting data lines), or modify the kernel to charge at full rate regardless of what its plugged into.

        • oh, nice. that's some info I didn't know. Although, I don't think I have a hacked kernel on my S3 and it shows at charging at 1000ma when I charge it and the charge times would certainly support that theory, no matter what AC charger it's plugged into. I know so little about charging it's silly, but I am learning more every day.

      • If that is indeed the case, it would be more an issue with the cable than the charger itself. However, I have noticed that cables with better wires (thicker, solid copper etc.) charge at a faster rate so for me it all balances out, given that most android phones don't suck down more than 1A anyway. Tablets are another matter entirely but I still have good charge times with well made cables, even if they aren't charge only with the data pins shorted out.

  • -3

bit expensive comparing most of other sellers on ebay

    • +3

Local sellers? Cause I just put them up this morning and my prices are better than all local sellers as of 8am

  • +1

    Purchased 2.

    Thanks rep!

    • my pleasure

  • hey rep, any deal for car micro usb charger?

    • +1

Nope. While I can understand you asking, if I don't have a deal posted here then there's no deal. It's not like I am charging a fortune for them anyway.

  • Just bought 2, good deal

  • Hey Brent,

Do you sell DVI cables? Can't seem to see any other than the HDMI to DVI cable. (not looking for a special or sale, but just want to buy from a local seller and the retail store prices is ridiculous.

    Thanks!

    • Nope, sorry mate. The DVI adapters are a slow enough seller that I don't think I would want to stock the cables. Postage rates on those would be killer too, bulky and heavy.

      • np, thanks.

  • Thanks.

Just a quick question, which android app do you use to check the charging rate?

    • mine is called Galaxy Charging Current Lite. It works find on the Galaxy series but I can't find one for the Nexus 7 tablet, so I can't tell you charge rates on the tablet.

Also, for those who are thinking of letting me know, I am aware that these apps aren't exactly a definitive and unimpeachable resource for this information but it's solid enough for an indication. If anyone knows of any actual testing units that don't cost a fortune I would happily buy one and do some more robust testing.

      • Can't find any app that works for my galaxy nexus phone..

        • yeah, I think the nexus series have some different hardware that doesn't report charge rate or something like that. I read it somewhere but can't remember the specifics.

      • Just an update specifically on the N7 charging;
I just received 2 of the 3m cables.
Using these cables on the N7 charger, it continues to discharge if the screen is on. Even just sitting on the home screen. :( (tried with both cables just to be sure)

They seem to work well enough for the Gnex though.

    • Battery Monitor (Widget) should work for all users.

      • It doesn't have the real time stats (that I can find) it just works it out mathematically from time taken and battery capacity at full vs. what it was when it started charging. Unless I am really missing something.

  • ffs why do I always bulk buy :(

    Thanks Brent

    • I'm terrible like that :-)

      • +1

While I'm here, do you sell any good quality chargers to go with the cables? :P

        • +1

I don't currently stock any AC chargers but depending on what you are charging, both types of car charger are pretty good. The single output one charges at 1A and the double up to 2A

        • In lieu of that can you recommend any good AC wall charger plugs. The original ones that come with handsets are great but would like a couple of spares that are of reputable quality. I've heard bad things about sourcing aftermarket plugs from online sellers

        • Whenever I don't use an original one that comes with a handset, I just pick up one off ebay that has a high output rating and usually I'm OK. I picked up one of those 4 port 2A ones and it works a treat.

        • -1

Kogan has 2A chargers for a nice price (also a 3 pack). I haven't tested the actual charge rate, but these seem to work fine for powering my raspberry pi (up to 1.3mAh).

The 4 port 2A ones elsewhere are nice too, although the ones I got have a buzz sound. ($9.99 will do that, I guess!)

        • Accidental neg, sorry.

  • +1

Didn't buy anything this time as I didn't need anything but can recommend brentsbits. Great service and good items, have bought from him a few times and will again soon I'm sure.

  • I ordered a 2m bundle. I've been meaning to get some spares. Cheers!

  • I ordered 5x2m. Thanks

But didn't order the bundle instead 5 individual 2M ones. Rep can you fix that?

  • Will these work for Samsung Galaxy phones?

    • Yes

      • I was wondering because one of the feedbacks made was "Not a standard micro usb charger. Does not fit Samsung galaxy devices" Hmmm…..

        • That's a very odd feedback, I messaged the buyer about it but didn't hear back. it's very odd for two reasons, one being that micro usb is a standard and two being that I have a galaxy phone and I use these cables. I never heard back so couldn't get to the bottom of it.

        • +2

All our phones are galaxy's and your cables work just fine.

Kid's these days, I blame the energy drinks!

        • Cable is very tight into my Nexus 4, so…. It's possible he just couldn't get it to fit, I haven't had trouble with any other cables.

  • Would really like to have a higher current cable which can charge a phone (Lumia 820) in an hour or less…. Any such cables ??

    • The cables have something to do with it but it's all about how much charge the Lumia will take. For instance, you could have a charger and cable that are capable of supplying 10A (not really but it's a hypothetical) but if your phone will only pull a maximum of 1A then that's all that will be used and the phone will take as long as it takes to charge.

I don't know the specs on the Lumia or what it's charge rate is but most phones have a built in limit to how much current they will accept. Unless there are other products out there that can do what you want, I definitely couldn't get them.

  • +1

Grabbed a couple of 1m from the store.

  • just bought a 5 pack of 2 metres cable
cheers mate! hope i will get this before Friday! :)

  • Any possibility of self-coiling ones, or bundling a coiling device of some kind? ;)

    • Sorry, no

  • Hi, I've got an S4, and was wondering if these would charge as quick as the original cable? Been shopping around, bought some cables, and they charge really slow, would appreciate some feedback.

    • Hi, all I can tell you is that these cables max out the charge current (1000ma) on my galaxy s3. I don't know how much current the S4 is capable of drawing but I haven't seen a phone (that didn't have a modified kernel) do more than that. Not saying they don't, I just don't know which ones.

      • My S4 pulls 1900mA when using the stock charger and cable (using the Galaxy Charging Current Lite app).

When using a generic, longer, thinner cable see the phone draw only 500mA.

  • +1

    Good deal. Have some heat!

  • What the max current on galaxy note 2?

    • no idea, you'll have to google it. I don't know all the various charge currents for all the devices. I work with a rule of thumb of 1000ma for phones and about 2100ma for tablets. No idea for phablets

  • +1

Thanks. Shame they ran out of 2m stock. Bought a 1m and 3m, plus a stylus and a microSD reader. Nice little bundle of goodies.
