I just bought one and I had two when I checked status of order. Will my order get cancelled for being greedy? I only want one even tho I need none.
Order 1677 if you can correct it for me. Thanks

  • Ordered one…I was just looking for another light last night!!

  • just ordered. went through witout a hitch.

  • +2

Had one of these arrive today from a previous deal.

My god is it bright!, it has no problems focusing a beam well of 50 Meters. Defiantly worth the price here!

  • For less than $4, no brainer.

  • Awesome, ordered, thank you!

  • Well i'm yet to buy my first oz-bargain torch.. should i start with this one or wait for a better torch.

    • +1

You simply won't get better for $3.95 no matter how long you look

      • as above, for less than $4 to your door your not going to be disappointed.

  • PayPal charged A$4 for bank transfer..

  • Just ordered one. Thanks

  • -2

I bought 4, thought I would be charged $4 each but got charged $4 for postage.

  • Just purchased one, hopefully will arrive soon.

  • -2

Right after paying for the torch I got 2 spam emails. Not jumping to conclusions but has anyone else had a sudden influx of spam?

    • Nope. No SPAMS to the address I used at Zingy.

  • +3

Hi Chubbyguts your Order 1677 is fine regardless of how many you put at checkout we can only dispatch one per customer. As you can see the orders are now well over a thousand even though we can see a dozen or so have put 2 on the order at checkout.

So on a serious note we will release another 200 torches before we have to slow it done. I know I said 24-48hrs but in order to stay afloat so we can release more deals and more importantly ensure that the 2000 odd orders are checked, packed, and dispatched on-time we will release another few boxes. I will have to set the stock at 1600.
what a great response, and yes the sheer size of this community was definitely underestimated.

But I now what we have in stock and what is in transit and 1600 is a very manageable number, obviously like we mentioned before there could be a 10 day wait on the last orders but I am more confident watching this and controlling the orders as opposed to having customers having to wait 2 months. Please note the next deal will be better, and this deal will come back again, we are working on a coupon code only for OzBargain members were you enter it and get these type of discounts.

    Cheers

    • "the next deal will be better"

      Now I have buyer's remorse…

    • +2

@ZINGY: I really appreciate that you are offering a good deal here. And even more so I appreciate that you are willing to talk about some of the internals of doing business.

I wonder if you can help me understand things a bit better. You wrote that your cost base is over $9 by the time each flashlight is shipped. That leaves you with a loss of about $6 per item, nearly $10,000 all up if you sell 1600 of them. What is the business logic behind such a costly promotion?

I understand restaurants who do 50% discounts or 2 for 1 offers - their marginal cost of running the business is much lower than that (just accounting for the cost of additional ingredients and extra staff they might need during the promotion). So they might actually increase their bottom line even during such a promotion. And of course any happy customers who later return and pay full price or refer friends are a bonus. Restaurants with good food and good service leave a lasting impression.

In your case the situation looks very different, with quite a large out of pocket investment for a rather uncertain return. I for my part do my online shopping mostly based on price, making sure I use reputable sellers at the same time. But I have no specific loyalties to any of the shops that had specials on OzBargain. I would think many other OzBargainers are exactly like me in that respect. You might build up a good reputation, but sales to the OzBargain crowd will always be low margin sales, it will take a long time to recover that investment.

      • What is the business logic behind such a costly promotion?

$10k to give to OzB'ers who will keep coming back i would guess. happy customers who will tell other people about them etc. money far better spent than advertising on tv or radio etc.

well….. thats my understanding anyway….. no doubt the rep will give there own ideas about it all.

  • Well it said on the product Page the deal is over but it still let me put an order through. I hope so because I tried earlier and the site was uncooperative, which is the only reason my order wasn't placed earlier in the piece. What's the score, OP :-)

  • thks rep i have bookmark your site i will be back if the torch arrives ok.

  • Where's your privacy statement?

  • Just ordered one and here is the PayPal description:

    Order nnnn at Zingy
    , Product count: 1

Should I be worried that the product name wasn't mentioned?

  • Lucky you got one hoffho.
I just tried and it says sold out :( Damn work getting in the way of a great flashlight deal..

  • @ZINGY
SO you said you had set the stock level at 1600, but ur site says 1810 and now it's sold out.. any room for 1 more? :)

  • … whats going on?? I just tried the site in Chrome (it renders better) but it now says sold 1822 units.. But it's still sold out for me..??
a couple of secs ago it sacs 1810??

    • i think it's because some people accidentally brought 1+ so it gets counted in the system but they are only getting 1.

  • guys, just click BUY and then check out, you will see the product in your cart. i just bought 1 10' ago even though the website said the deal is over.

    • Cheeeers! Worked like a charm..
Would be good if this tactic worked on the COTD crazyday sale thingies..

  • IE shows 1828 purchases made
    Chrome shows 1824
    Firefox shows 1826
nd they are still all increasing… :( what do i gosta do 2 be in ur flashlight gang? :)

  • Well it appears all i had to do is follow 'bargainfinders' instructions and ignore the 'Sold Out' notice :)
Yay i'm in the burn-my-retina-while-i-see-how-bright-it-is-even-though-i-know-its-gona-be-bright Gang!

Hi choongster a few thousand were sold,as we mentioned just after the deal went live, the fist 500 will get their orders in about 7 working days depending on their location. Some will get them this week. Another load is arriving mid next week, and now a another is arriving the following Monday. So the second 500 will customers will be 7-10 business days, and those that were in the last cycle will be 10-12 business days. We thought we capped it at 1600 but apparently there was a way around it, so these orders will fulfilled without a glitch but it will just take a few extra days, Im sure these members will understand this.
      cheers

  • Looks like a good deal, rep.

  • Sold out :(

  • For US$5.40 you can buy it from here and it's really nice quality -

    • +2

Hi luke that is 300 not the 360, very similar not as bright, but yeah another good deal, much longer wait but still a good price.

  • +4

You are right it definitely cost Zingy alot more than we had budgeted, but the basic underlying principle increases with every sale and that is exposure. 40% of small business fail in the first 2 years, alot of these business have a great product or offer a fantastic service but they just cant tell the world, or enough people to make it viable. Because Advertising for small business is so expensive, and also it can be so broad. Pay $2500 to have 25-30 thousands brochures dropped in letterboxes and there is a high chance it will generate 1 email. I am new to OzBargain but not to business, so from what I have been watching over the past few months this community is a very good and targeted way to tell people about our great products. Because joebob will right a comment got the torch and its so damn bright, and that will means something to all the other members instantly.

In short I definitely from what I have witnessed advise potential companies from listing their products here unless they are brilliant products and the price is right.

The community here at Ozbargain are incredibly large and well connected. Oz Bargain members are savy and well informed buyers so when they see the quality of this torch they will hopefully comeback or tell their neighbor etc. It will be live in the store today for $9 so that represents the profit margins we operate on. Approx between $9-$10 to buy and post the Cree 360 and we sell it for $12.95.

Plus we have companies or Stores that buy these ipad and iphone accessories at a further discounted rate and sell them at their post office, their hardware, their newsagent etc. For instance Hardware stores can buy in batches of 50 the new Cree 2200 lumens super torch for $41 and the resale is $99.
So we are trying to offer a greet cheap buying site for the savvy shopper and also a way business can add a very cost effective little addition to their shop or store. Our underwater mp3 and bluetooth joggers etc are on the benches of gyms and swimming pools for instance. And alot of the time these shops or business put a 100% markup on them, and this is still represents a saving to the customer.

So yes we have officially spent our entire years marketing budget in 8hrs, but we are still confident it was money well spent in the long term, definitely not in the short term.
A few thousand Brand new customers all get our official Zingy discount cards and they also get a brilliant little torch for $3.95.

So the flow on effect hopefully will be friends and family and an awareness that their is a site out there that you can buy great products for yourself or to sell to your customers, and their profit margins are really tight. Meaning we buy the product in bulk and add $5,$10, or $20 onto it for resale. The majority of the time it actually works out cheaper to buy alot of products from our site than if you sourced them direct, because you cant buy one at a time from the factories you have to buy in batches of hundret sd.
In short were still happy the deal was well received and hopefully someone talks to someone about our little site and we can benefit from this deal over time. And plus it allows the Ozbargain community to get great deals. When I say great it is way below cost, so the deals we will run here will always be great.
Oh and yes I can see the even though it was sold out it still let buyers through, suppose that means the cap is 1900 not 1600, but its definately inactive now, better go have to mow a few hundred lawns so I can pay the postie truck when he gets here…..
    Cheers

    • Thanks for your detailed reply! I hope it works for you and you get heaps of ongoing business. Keep the deals coming :-)

    • Unfortunately never sending the torch makes it worse for Zingy as I wont buy off you again.

  • Thanks Zingy, ordered the torch. Checking other items on your site.
The ANDROID HDMI TV BOX, what ugly looking device. I hope works better then it looks.

  • Hi rep, emailed but no response. Can you confirm my order went through? It happened when your site was having problems. Order 1083. Thanks

    • +1

Hi cyrax83 your order has been processed, the site is running fine now, but the login portal is still under maintenance as they are working to fix it after yesterdays load. In short if you dont get a login email straight away dont panic, if your received the first generic email and you were able to checkout in paypal 99.99% it was processed. Let you know as soon as the portal is live. cheers

      • Thanks alot.

  • -1

    disappointing.

site wasn't working, and i assumed from the representations that the offer was to run for a few days (with no apparent stock limits) that i would be fine to get on the site today to purchase.

rep seems pretty open and honest, which is great…but i'd rather the (honest, but false) representation not be made in the first place.

    • +1

why negs for? rep said deal would be available for a few days…and it wasn't.

i didn't neg the deal, i didn't say the rep was bad…i gave constructive advice to the rep not to make representations they can't keep. what exactly is neg-worthy about that?

      • -1

        Boo f-ing hoo.

      • +3

Hi caprimulgus I have just had it turned back on for a few minutes for you, will turn it off in 5 minutes.
        http://www.zingy.com.au/node/176
        cheers

      • the reason was probably you are portraying that this deal is a bust because it ended earlier than you expected.

however as explained by rep , they have tried to capped it at 1600 but somehow , OZbargainer are just too smart :). To keep everything under control and for them to fulfill their delivery under acceptable time, they are stopping the deal earlier than expected to catch up on their orders.

If they would to continue , I am sure they will still fulfill their sales, but would you like to deal with postage 2 months down the road?

        • where exactly did i say/portray the deal is a bust? please show me. that is COMPLETELY your misinterpretation.

i said i was disappointed (in the misrepresentation, NOT the deal), and i explained why i was disappointed (a perfectly legitimate reason).

yes, the rep explained why they stopped, and i never said there was anything wrong with that (in fact, i complimented the rep on being honest). i merely expressed my disappointment in a representation being made that ultimately ended up being false.

whatever, keep negging…obviously the rep doesn't think my comments were neg-worthy if they offered to open the deal back up for me!

  • +3

ohhh no, sneak attack, Ill have to have it turned of in 60 seconds caprimulgus, as 30 odd have gone in the last few minutes
    cheers

damn, missed it! oh well…thanks anyway rep!

Also I never got a new account email with my username and password.

      • Same! This is dodgy.

  • Hi rep
i also have no email from u guys
I just realised I got a paypal receipt but no email from Zingy.

Can you please make sure my order went through

No way to check order status and no further email. I also noticed that No ABN in the website. The address listed in their Facebook page is wrong(364 Latrobe Tce, Paddington, New South Wales 4064). The address is in QLD and a streetview shows no house or business just road. I think we've been had

wondering what is the status like .. i'm also waiting for delivery … Hhhmmm

Zingy did say some ppl will get theirs in 48hrs, a week ago. Did anyone get theirs?

  • +1

The rep has mysteriously disappeared since…

    Ruh roh…

    • and the original link still shows this deal as "todays deal"

ruh roh is right, scooby doo where are you….

      • That's because it's a link directly to the deal. The main page shows a different deal.

  • aNYONE GOT THEIR TORCH?

  • no torch here.. how long have we got to make a paypal dispute? Can we dispute over postage? I think if enough of us dispute with paypal they might do something.

    • +2

Hi demod I do apologize for the delay, please read the comment below, but nothing is dodgy,we are working like crazy to get through all the orders. Dont be concerned about the $0 dollar Paypal refund. If you do want a refund we will happily refund no questions asked. But sometimes its easy to think the worst, if you are patient your emails will be answered, and your product will arrive. It has been a steep learning curve, but the plus side is that once the dust settles we will have learnt an awful lot about how to roll out the next big deal without a glitch. Hope this helps. Cheers

  • Haven't got the time to watch this right now but something about money back in 10 days or something
    http://www.zingy.com.au/?q=watch-video

I will look and see later.

    • Interesting, so no torch in 10 days and 'the clock' should refund the purchase price via paypal.

      • should refund the purchase price

which is zero seeing all your paid was freight

cant you dispute via paypal for postage as well when an items not received or is that just from ebay?

        • Just had a look at the ebay receipt, and it shows the 3.95 as product, $0 shipping. We can file a dispute up to 45 days after the transaction.

Might wait a few more days to hear from the rep. If no contact we should all file hundreds of paypal disputes at the same time!

    • Dont watch if your epileptic! The flashing will induce a fit!
Seriously, the clock in my account?
I dont have an account according to them!
But i do have a payal transaction, and after tomorrow I'll have a paypal dispute esculated to a claim!

Rep: If you have posted the torches, let us know, or paypal will refund us, then later the torch arrives and you get a bad name, and you'll be booted off paypal because of all the no item received disputes.
Sell smart or drown in the cheap electronics website game.

  • +1

i also filed a dispute with this company. i have emailed them twice with my payment details and they said they have no record. lucky i paid with paypal because i will not be the only one that gets rorted by this company.

    • +3

Hi raynewbs I apologize for the delay. The reason we use paypal is for this very reason, in that if a customer is not 100% satisfied with their item then they can access a full refund. The deal sold over 2000 torches we have already posted 585 and today are posting the 3rd batch of 410. It is easy to presume the worst but please understand that over 2000 torches to be packed and posted, and well over 1000 emails to respond to does take time. You dont need to open a dispute if you do not want to wait over a week for the $3.95 torch then we will refund your money asap. This is not about deception, there are only 2 of us here at zingy and we are doing our best to get the 2105 torches out as quick as possible. So like I said we will happily refund if you dont want to wait, that is not a problem, but please be patient as your orders are all being processed as quickly as possible. The login portal is still in the process of being fixed, but in short if you received the first generic email and you can see the order in your pay pal account then it has been processed. I will post an update here and on the Facebook page. But in short we ran this deal so we will continue to honour it as quickly as we can.
      Cheers

  • +1

I am giving it until tomorrow if not arrived I will lodge a dispute.

    • +3

Hi lukeloop please read the above comment we have just posted. The expected delivery time depends on your postcode, but it ranges from 5 days to approx 15 days. Your order is being processed quick sticks, but if you are uncomfortable with the delay in that you have not received your torch in the first week, then I am more than happy to issue you an immediate refund.

  • Wheres my torch?

The order link direct me todays deal….

    • +4

Hi Macgyver apologize for the delay as you can imagine it has been 60 hours a week processing this deal, and we are doing our best to get your products out as quick as possible. The deal generated well over a 1000 email inquiries at the start ie can we get it in white, does it take recharge batteries, is it waterproof, how much does it weigh, can we get 2, etc and every email needs to be answered, otherwise customers think they are being ignored. An now there are still approx 1100 customers that are next on the posting cycle, and again this comes with another 200 -300 emails of can I change my address, I don't think I put the right postcode, and how come I haven't received my torch its been over a week. I just thought it would help to give you a snapshot of the behind the scenes here so hopefully you can appreciate the time it takes to roll this out from start to finish. And not to jump to conclusions about deception, like we mentioned earlier we use paypal as opposed to a merchant warrior credit card portal, because paypal gives 100% protection to buyers and is very much geared more towards the customer as opposed to the merchant. I hope this comment does clear up any confusion and gives you piece of mind that you order is being processed quickly, if there is any issue we will notify you, but if you are uncomfortable with the delay then an immediate refund will be given no questions asked. So far we can see 2 issues have been raised with paypal but keep in mind over 2000 orders were processed. Hope this helps in some way.And lastly if you have any questions regarding the torches specs it is best to go back to the deal in the fine print everything is listed there. Because the emails are taking about 3 days at a time to get through but this is being reduced evry day. Cheers

  • +3

@ZINGY, thanks for the updates… I think some people need to relax a little.
Bearing in mind AUSpost can take up to 7 days (or even longer!) to deliver local mail, we should all be a little more patient.

  • i think the rep just learnt the value in keeping his deals updated……

  • This offer has only, and will only be advertised to OzBargain member's.

What is the difference between this on your website?

    http://www.zingy.com.au/node/176

    • +2

Hi lukeloop you cant click the buynow button as we deactivated the deal as per our original comments once over 2000 ozbargain sales were processed over a week ago. That is the exact same number of sales as was shown on the last minute of the ozbargain deal. In short it was only advertised through ozbargain as per our original statement and no one has been able to purchase this torch for $0 after the last Ozbargain member did. It will be replaced tonight I believe.Hope this helps

  • I'm glad to see that the rep has come online and provided some information about the situation. If it is only 2 of you I can understand the delay with 2000+ orders to fulfil. At the moment I have a 4-way race for parcels arriving:

    -Zingy (6 May 2013 - Australia)
    -Flingshot (11 May 2013 - Australia)
    -Startfitness (11 May 2013 - UK)
-Cameta Camera (13 May 2013 - New York)

I expect the Flingshot will win, and will be thoroughly surprised if StartFitness or Cameta Camera manage to beat Flingshot.

With a bit of luck I will have everything before I head off on my trip on the 31st (fingers crossed)

  • +1

    hi rep
its not about the torch its the emails i sent and was told i did not have a order, even after supplying the rec no. i have been using ozbargin for a long time and companies come on here and underestimate the members this site has and get swamped. but i know it takes a while, its the denial of the purchase that made me unhappy. anyway i hope that u guys get a good response from this special, because u sound ok and u are trying your best.

    • +3

Hi Raynewbs, I can see what happened here.If you look at the bottom of your email you sent for some reason you will see the link showing your ordered product http://www.zingy.com.au/?q=node/23/submission/289
Becky would have seen this and found no match for your address against an iphone case and speaker, which is where this link goes.
Sorry a genuine mistake. I have found your order and it is scheduled for a delivery tomorrow around 12pm along with 105 other orders. So I presume you will have it Tuesday. Hope this helps

  • Hi Rep,

I placed an order last week with Zingy for a compact torch.
    Paypal transaction ID 28917825HL626111R.
Now when I try to log in to Order 1549 at Zingy as per the email response you sent me, my email address is not recognised, and my password does not work.

Could you please follow up for me? I've had no response from [email protected] either.

    • +1

Hi dastasha, your order has been found and it is in the que being processed for delivery.Sorry about the login portal we were able to fix the sites bandwith after last weeks traffic but the portal is still under maintenance, as it crashed immediately after the brut force traffic, and has been down ever since. Hopefully they will have it up and running shortly. Cheers

      • Having read the above, I also tried to check the order status.

In our case, we received the order confirmation email. Same problem, the link goes to the iPhone accessory deal. It also says:
… you will receive a separate e-mail with login instructions.

        It never arrived.
But I tried password recovery anyway and got a message that the address wasn't recognised.

        It's order # 2065.

        • -2

Can you tell me the status of my order?

          Order # 2259

        • +1

i wonder if any of you guys asking him to look up specific orders, specially after the rep coming on today to say everything is happening, actually realise your each probably costing another 10 or 20 more orders that they wont get out today caus of the time wasted personally answering a handful of wingers?

i didnt order, i got mine from another deal earlier, but seriously give the rep a break for a few days to concentrate on getting your orders out rather than holding him up more….

        • I just want to make sure it went through thats all…

        • im sure so do 2000 other people who ordered….. but they have some patience, respect for the rep and arent so selfish to continually bug him about there individual orders as if they are the only ones waiting……..

heres a spoon full of concrete princess……. tuffen up..

        • This is the first time I asked if my order went through… I don't see how I'm being selfish? I didn't get much of a email other than paypal receipt. The order page does not work, nor did I get a username/password(but now I see explained why above).

But thats fine, looks like I'm asking too much.

        • a handful of wingers?

          Nope, never fast enough.
Second row, prop forward and ruckman depending on code.

And anyway, how do you know we're "holding him up more"?
Do you know for certain that this a one-man operation?

  • Its ok when it gets to 10days "the clock" will refund us and then we get it for free anyway!
Thats if you beleive this website and its rep stick to their word!

  • +5

ozy I am more than happy to issue you a refund right now if you like. I notice in all your comments about our site and this deal are so critical. We have endured a great financial expense and a huge amount of time to roll this great deal out exclusively for the ozbargain members. We are a working as quick as we can. We really have tried to build our platform with protection and safety in mind for the consumer. So that is why we have a free policy over 10 days. A policy that we have had to initiate 23 times to date. But I am sure you can understand that this deal for free, on such a large scale is a little different to a standard deal that is run on the site, and so not a single customer except you has asked that they want it free if its not there in 10 days, given that the vast majority of members do appreciate that we are working really hard to make sure everyone gets their torch for $3.95 delivered, and that logistically delivering everyone's order in 10 days is impossible. I do appreciate that you have the right to voice your opinion, but maybe a little less angst would go along way. These are great torches and we are getting them out quickly, but please understand that those comments will most likely lead a handful of others to follow suit. Im sure this community wants another one of these deals minus the hiccups we have learnt from this deal. For instance I think it would be great if people pitched in and said what type of product they wanted and at what price. Like a 4GB Micro SD Card + Micro SD to SD Adapter for $5.I would say listen we can make 30 cents per order and we will order 500 of these cards then we will run the deal. That allows us to make a few hundred of the deal and even better every single order is posted the following day because the deal is capped at 500.
So happy to work with you as opposed to against you in a bit more of a community type atmosphere, that way we can learn from you and you can benefit from us.
    Hopefully this makes sense. Cheers
