Got excited because I have another Telstra $30-for-$10 simcard but I can't be bothered setting it up just for those games. Don't really have an interesting in electronic books or movies from Google Play either.

I was hoping for one of those awesome sales with 10c apps and other great deals :(

Oh well, I guess the free movie rental isn't too bad

    • Any idea of the download size of the free movie ?

      • -3

        I'd guess ~10GB

        • +5

          … or 1gb

        • Just watched it - it was ~4GB…

        • I mean ~2!

  • +2

Note - you need to enter you credit card details (if you haven't already done so) into the google system, before you can get the free rental

    • Yeah, thats annoying… I purposely removed mine as my son plays with my phone and I don't want him buying things by mistake.

In the "Play Store" setting you can set a password required for purchases.

  • Great spot OP!

Rented Source Code in HD for free and "King of Kong" in SD for 0.99c (Apparently it says I have 720 days to view it as well…)

Sorry mate, someone bought it earlier this morning.

These 'Sale' prices aren't even comparable to iOS

      • +7

No Android user has had to pay for Angry Birds.

    MEH!!

If a sale like this wasn't advertised, you wouldn't even know it was a sale.

  • +5

Pretty underwhelming for a birthday sale!

Games, zzzzZZZzzzzzzzzzzz page me when good apps are cheap

  • @bryans

You forgot to add SPOILER for those that haven't seen it yet!

  • Got the movie and the free book, I love freebies! thanks OP

    • Which free book? I can't seem to find it…

  • +2

Where are the apps? I don't want games, just apps :(

    • Same man, same - screw games. I blow enough time on dumb stuff as it is - but useful apps, sign me up

  • I might look into the Play store for movies now. The only reason I never bothered before was because of the price for a 'soft copy' and accessibility standards. I've got online movies everywhere; iTunes, Amazon and soon to be Google Play :(

  • I was charged $2 after I "purchased" the app. But the receipt says Total: $0.00

    • It was your first Google Play purchase, right? $2 gets deducted and refunded. Security stuff apparently.

    • Yeah it will get refunded..

  • -3

    It's only a sale if it's free…

    • Right…

      1. The exchange of a commodity for money; the action of selling something.
    • so a PS3 for $50 is not on sale?

  • +1

I got excited looking for 10c apps, 99c apps (as has been done in the past) but nothing of the sort this time around, surely a birthday is a big event but I dont see big sales… oh well :(

  • Coincidentally? the Nexus 10's are back in stock today!

  • Source Code is an excellent film, by the director of Moon (which is also an excellent film) who happens to be David Bowie's son, lol.

If you haven't seen Source Code yet, do yourself a favour and watch it tonight. No-dissapointment guarantee!

    • When I follow the link it says Source Code is $3.99 to rent. Has the deal expired?

  • Good article here
Refers to an article over at CNET UK relating to the current Google Play sale that derides it on the basis that while having the appearance of a sale, it’s actually not very good value at all.

  • Thanks OP got a free Bloodlines ebook by Richelle Mead
