There is a (x) on top of $0 and if you read in terms condition below it say..

(X)Available to port-in customers only (excluding JB Hi-Fi Upfront/Prepaid, The Good Guys Mobile & Broadband, Telstra and Boost). The Samsung Galaxy S25 512GB (Models: SMS931BDBFATS, SM-S931BLBFATS, SM-S931BLGFATS, or SM-S931BZSFATS) (referred to as “The Good Guys Voucher” in the Telstra Terms and Conditionsand replacing the dollar value of the Voucher in the Critical Information Summary)will be issued to you instore after connection after approval by Telstra. If you cancel or move to a lower cost/different plan then you must pay a Voucher Repayment Fee to Telstra pro-rated against the remaining months of your plan’s minimum term. This offer is not available in conjunction with any other The Good Guys mobile or broadband offer.

I think they the good guy voucher will be the dollar value of S25 ultra which needs to be returned

JB Hifi Telstra S25U $99/month with $1700 Voucher deal with $800 cancellation fee as per the CIS also has similar wording, but so many people already cancelled the plan and received the Cancellation Fee invoice of $766 ($800 prorated for remaining 23 months as first month is charged upfront). Read here:

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/890078?page=10

So this deal is no different to that. I will sign up tomorrow morning and will confirm once I cancel the plan.

  • Is the for the whole range or just S25 ?

  • What colour is best for future resale when we need to upgrade, any thoughts Navy Blue or Silver or other?

You can get a new number and then cancel it.

      • Ahhh…sweet! Thanks!

  • This seems like a better deal than the preorder

I paid $650 for the 256gb with the buds pro
If I sell the buds for $100 it's the same price, but only 256gb vs 512gb on this deal

May cancel that one and go with this!

  • -6

Do they have similar. one for iphone?

  • -8

I need a stiff scotch after reading the comments regarding cancellation maths for an overpriced Samsung mobile. Why bother? The stuffing around seems endless and very time consuming for little reward.

    • +3

Reward is you getting a brand new phone for <610$ with top specs. Find/Show a better alternative with better/same hardware at this price.

This is the whole point of Ozbargain. Getting the best deal possible for the community.

      Username checks out

  • how do you cancel do you just jump on telstra chat once you get the phone?

    • From the Telstra T*Cs

Yes, you can cancel your plan at any time by calling us on 13 50 88 or visiting a The Good Guys store. When you cancel, your service will be disconnected immediately. We won’t refund any money you’ve already paid and you’ll need to pay out any remaining Voucher Repayment Fee.

    • Simply port out to another network by buying $2 SIM. Plan will be cancelled automatically

      • Yep thats how i did it last time, ported my number back to woolworths

      • did you just get hit with a bill for the costs of the voucher?

        • I haven’t cancelled it yet as 1st month fee is charged upfront, so planning to use it for a month and will cancel then

  • +1

Would this also work for the S25U?

  • +2

I just signed up the deal in store.
Just to flag, its only for Port IN customers. You can’t get a new number. So better buy a $2 Optus or Amaysim SIM, activate it and then go to store if you don’t want to port in your existing number

    • Did they have Samsung S25 ultra on special plan as well ?

    • Can you activate $2 optus sim without any recharge? I mean can i just buy a $2 sim card and activate it to get a new number?

      • If you have an e-SIM compatible phone, then simply get a free trial e-SIM from Optus by signing up for a new Optus account using below link:

        https://www.optus.com.au/customer-extras/network-trial

        It takes 2 minutes only.

        • I think teh e-SIM trial is only if you dont have an optus service already. I do have another optus service

          • @Deal finder: That's correct. I use Amaysim who use Optus network hence can't sign up for Optus Trial using same phone.

            • @Borg: So the only option left is the $5 Aldi sim?

              • @Deal finder: It's what I did as was simple with Aldi close by and easy…….but no doubt there are alternative ways.

OTHER: If you have a spare phone you could use Optus Trail on it as it wouldn't be connected to any network.

Seems even more sketchy than the Jb Hifi one.

6.2 If you received a The Good Guys Voucher when you purchased your Mobile
Service and you cancel that Mobile Service within any applicable Voucher Term,
you must pay us the outstanding amounts for the The Good Guys Voucher you
received for the cancelled Mobile Service (the Voucher Repayment Fee).

6.3 The Voucher Repayment Fee is a pro-rata amount, equal to the total amount of
the base Voucher divided by 24 and multiplied by the months (or part months)
    remaining in your Voucher Term.

Now these GoodGuys Mobile Service Terms are in ADDITION to the Critical
Information Summary so there's a chance that the Goodguys might wack an extra $700 bucks ($1387 total) to everyone's bill later to pay off the remainder as per 6.3

Maybe you could argue you paid the max Voucher Repayment Fee as per the CIS…

But I could just be giving up a great deal and not knowing what I am talking about. GLWS

This is exactly what I'm discussing with a friend. This is just too ambiguous.

    • Wonder of that more relates to the "BONUS $550 eGIFT CARD(K)" option?

      (K) Available to port-in and new customers only (excluding JB Hi-Fi Upfront/Prepaid, The Good Guys Mobile & Broadband, Telstra and Boost). The Good Guys Digital Gift Card (referred to as “The Good Guys Voucher” in the Telstra Terms and Conditions) will be issued to you by email within 5 business days of connection approval by Telstra. If you cancel or move to a lower cost/different plan then you must pay a Voucher Repayment Fee to Telstra pro-rated against the remaining months of your plan’s minimum term. This offer is not available in conjunction with any other The Good Guys mobile or broadband offer. Gift Card subject to Terms & Conditions.

    • +1

If you read JB terms, those are also same. But we only got charged the amount mentioned as Voucher Repayment Fee. Read in other posts, so many already signed up for S25U deal and cancelled and received bills for ~$800 only.
Plus the contract copy that I received after signing mentions only $550 cancellation fee for this plan.

  • If I am correct, I think you signed up the plan with JB or TGG and cancel it with Telstra not JB or TGG.

  • -3

Clearly states min cost 1896 over 24 months

    • If not cancel

    • Thats if you don’t cancel. If you cancel, you just pay the cancellation fee which is the Voucher Repayment Fee, for $79 plan it is $550 per the contract that I received when I signed up today.

      • Do they message when the phone is in stock to pickup?

        • I was told they will give me a call when the phone is available for pick up.

          • @OZBsince2018: Cool.
I wonder if I should wait until they have stock, save me two trips into town (45mins each way)

            • @jjsnacks: Yup. Deal is valid till 13th Feb.

            • @jjsnacks: It says preorder bonus so I think you might have to make 2 trips regardless.

  • Hi everyone,
Trying to make a decision between pixel 9 pro xl and Samsung s25 ultra
I care about value that I'm getting from the deal, future value and battery life

Would love to hear a second opinion on which one to go with, cheers!

    • I think there is a bias for samsung in the samsung s25 deal XD

      • Haha I think U might be right

    • Definitely S25U. Not that Pixel phones are bad, its just that Pixel phones lose value too drastically, and hard to sell compared to Samsung.

      • With this deal s25u might be the one, just had a chance so I can workout some math:
        Pixel 9 pro xl 512 with good guys = 2197-1500+800+99 = 1596
        S25 ultra 512gb = 2137- 1700+800+99 = 1336

        • I suppose the only difference is that if you have a $200 voucher you can use it with JB otherwise everything looks exactly the same.
I will have 11 more days to make a decision see if there is any luck with getting a code

  • +1

    Hi all,
Just curious to know if you should cancel the plan straight away or you wait for for phone to arrive and then cancel it.
    Thanks

    • +1

Doesn’t matter. You can cancel it straight away too, but since you will pay the one month fee upfront, you can use it for one month and then cancel it before 2nd month is charged.
Some people were able to get the 1st month payment refunded as well, but its on your luck.

      • Thank you kindly

  • For the best plan, after cancellation, I need to pay 99$+800$. And I still get 800$ coupon to buy at TGG?

    https://www.telstra.com.au/help/critical-information-summari…

    • +1

No, the Samsung Galaxy S25 512GB $0 Upfront replaces the $800. So you already have it.

  • Which deal is better atm for S25 Ultra … Education Store or Jb Hifi/TGG $1700 voucher one?

Did S24 Ultra ever came lower than deals on Pre-Order, before release of S25 range? I am calculating, if i can delay the purchase and get this later. (I have looked into deals but can't figure out)

    • +1

Education store one was better with $20 voucher giving you $100 plus $200 voucher for free accessories plus $400+$150 trade in bonuses plus 5% App discount for first purchase.
Probably now JB and TGG deal might come cheaper if you don’t want any accessories.

Never found any deals for S24U cheaper than pre-order ones. So better don’t wait if you are looking to buy one. Just compare Education store with JB & TGG deals and go with the one that comes out cheaper for you.

    • +1

Which deal is better will depend on what codes/vouchers you have and if you can get telstra to refund you the $99.
If you have the $200 discount code and get $99 refund, JB deal is better. If not, EDU works out better overall if you have trade in bonus code, use galaxy2025 and bought the $20 voucher that gives $100 off and assuming you want the accesories you need to add.
S23 deal had best deals in Oct 2023 so you never know what deals might pop up.

  • I am with boost atm, will that effect me moving to telstra? Ta

    • +1

Yes. If you are planning to cancel, then buy another number on non-Telstra network first and then go in.

  • So I have already ordered s25 512gb from EDU store for $739.29 (+ $61 as I won't be sending a trade-in device).

It seems TGG deal is much better as it's almost 200$ cheaper. But my issue is, I'm currently overseas and will be returning and visiting TGG on 10th. Let's say I get the voucher emailed to me on 14th (they say it'll be within 5 business days, so it's a possibility). Can I still use the voucher in-store because the offer deadline (13th) is already passed?

Would really appreciate a clarification guys as I should cancel the EDU order before the cancel button disappears lol.

    • +1

Which voucher? This specific deal doesn’t have a one. It's $0 on the $79 plan i.e. pay first month then $550 Telstra cancellation fee.

      • +1

Dang! I see it now, I had confused it with the $550 e-giftcard lol. Thanks mate appreciate it!

  • So just to be clear, there's no cancellation fee for the 24 months plan like Optus HN previous deals?
We just need to pay back the voucher?
    This sounds very sus.

    • There is a cancellation fee of $550 prorata for 23 months, so $527. Plus $79 first month charge. So in total it costs $606.

  • I'm only seeing it works for port-in numbers only not new numbers. Can anyone confirm they've tried with getting a new number?

    • +1
    • +2

It's port in only, i just did it and i specifically asked the sales staff if you needed to port in, they incorrectly told me no.

For new numbers you only get $1100 off the S25 512GB, leaving you a $286 "gap".

The sales staff told me the wrong info, so they overrode the price of the phone to $1100

Have cancelled with Telstra now, confirmed $79 + $526.93

      • Thats correct. I had to port my number as staff showed me this deal is only for port in. If ai want a mew number voucher value is $1100 so I will have to pay a difference of $286. Hence, I had to port in. Good that for you they overrode the price.

        • Thanks for confirmign all! I'll just go get a $2 prepaid sim and activate it before porting to this deal!

          • @DaDiesel: Yup I might do the same. Which are the brands that allow you to activate a $2 sim without having to put money onto it?

            • @dbglt: Good question…anyone know?

            • +3

@dbglt: Aldi $5 sim is mentioned in these deals a few times. You can also sign up for free optus esim if you currently do not have an active service with them

      • Different stores/staff different answer. Staff told me that it is for newsim as well, i had a sim to port but because they offered new number, i just got new number. And staff also told me that cancellation is $550 only.

        • +2

thanks for that info. I got a Optus number via @CodeXD comment on the free optus esim. Will go into Good Guys to try and port that one over.

          • +2

@DaDiesel: Update: signed up, confirmed by the "Specialist" there that max cancellation fee is $550 pro-rata.

  • I signed up today, got a $5 aldi sim and activated outside the good guys, walked in and ordered the phone on a $79 plan, asked what the cancellation fee is and was told $550 max.
Now should I cancel the plan today and try and get the $79 first month refunded or wait until i get the phone? what is everyone doing?

    • Hard to get them to refund the $79 so if cancelling you lose the month. If not a big deal then no harm in trying.

    • I was going to cancel the first month but honestly had no good excuse that came to mind to try and get the $79 back. Figured I'd just wait until I physically get the phone before cancelling just in case.

  • Any known Pros/Cons between TheGoodGuys vs.JB Hifi for signing up. Is one better to deal with over the other (as a matter of interest)?

    • I'm on JB Hifi with just under a year left and I signed up to this GG deal just to get the S25 at $606. As far as I can tell both apps (JB Hifi Mobile and GG Mobile) are super simliar and are on the Telstra network. No issues with network for me in the Perth Metro area.
The GG store I went to though I had to cycle through 3x staff before I got someone who knew what they were doing.

      • Thanks and your note about "had to cycle through 3x staff before I got someone who knew what they were doing at the GG" is what I am checking i.e.Is one store better than the other.
I suppose it depends on stores but suspect JB has more experienced staff covering mobile area as The GG sells a lot of different things compared to JB.

  • +6

Just got a call from TGG Blacktown that my S25 is ready for collection.

    • woahh that's early!

    • shame on samsung official store which yet to dispatch my order placed on Jan 23th

      • Same here. I placed on order with Samsung as well for S25U on 23rd. Still showing “awaiting dispatch”.
