Gonna combine it with $200 code for pre reserve.

    • +6

How can I get a $200 code? Is it too late now?

      • +5

Looks we missed the boat but JB has free base storage upgrade.

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/887874

Personally, I'm a bit meh on galaxy devices these days. Cameras and batteries on Chinese android devices are a lot better but need to import and they're pricey.

        • +2

Yeah particularly with those new Silicon-Carbon batteries right? wouldn't have thought there cameras were too far behind though. Guess I need to refamiliarize myself with the whole smartphone scene.

          • +1

@TsundereGuy: Yeah, the silicon carbon batteries. Around 6000mah vs 5000mah in the s25 ultra. I'm looking at the vivo x200 pro and the telephoto looks insane. It does really good telemacro photos.

Realistically, any new flagship phone will be way better than phone from a few years ago.

            • +3

@Caped Baldy: Don't forget samsung still only using 45W charging vs 100W of chinese brands

Samsung is now just releasing the same phones each with some small improvements in hardware

Samsung also only giving AU customers 12GB ram vs 16GB of some asian countries (fragmented specs based on region)..
At least this year they couldn't do the same for their CPU due to low yield

            • @Caped Baldy: Seems like you can buy the x200 on this website https://bestmobilephone.com.au/vivo-x200-pro/?srsltid=AfmBOo…

              Is that an import?

              • @BluebirdV: Yeah, all of them are imports. I saw that best mobile phones has mixed reviews. Spectronics has slightly better reviews.

        • What are the top of the line chinese phones atm?

Do they have global roms or any issues with reception bands?

          • +1

            @Circly: Vivo X200 Pro

            • +1

@CodeXD: For such an expensive purchase I'd be very nervous buying international models (even if global) both for warranty and potential AU telco bans…

The Oppo Find X8 Pro is officially locally available, at a reasonable price of $1800 for the 512gb and ticks all the right boxes. The 9400 is actually a better SoC than Elite for day to day use due to better battery management.

Camera is also neck and neck, with some wins for X8 Pro and some for 200 Pro

              • @OpayuOnam: How long do the security updates last on the Oppo Find X 8 Pro? Are they likely to discount it soon?

                • +1

@BluebirdV: The Oppo Find X8 Pro receives five years of Android OS updates and six years of security patches.

Looking back at Find X5 series which was the last Find X series in Australia, they are still updating it.
So I tend to believe them.

                  • @OpayuOnam: Not bad. I heard Oppo used to not get many updates.

                    • @BluebirdV: That may be true for their budget range, but both Find X and Reno range seems to be getting decent updates.

          • +2

@Circly: Vivo x200 Pro. They have a global and Chinese version which have a different operating system (funtouch vs origin) and limited mobile bands for the China version and the Chinese version is missing some google maps history tracking and Android Auto support is promised in updates. There's also the Oppo Find X8 Pro which is similar spec wise and has an international release. These have the Dimensity 9400 which looks very good. Both will have an ultra version which is China exclusive.

Others include the One Plus 13, yet to be announced Xiaomi 15 Ultra, and Huawei Pura 70.

            • -1

@Caped Baldy: There are rumours that Samsung is looking to include a similar 200MP periscope camera in the S26U/S27U.

              • +2

@bogan: That's good to see but looks like the development has stagnanted since their key targets don't have much competition from the Chinese phones.

Two more years for the s27u is a long wait.

        • +1

Don't forget about the exrra perks ¬ free spyware and adware on those phones too

      • -1

I got it pm me if you are interested

    • Did we miss the boat on this?

    • +1

If you cancel how much is the final total we are paying for S25 Ultra?

  • Can the $200 jb hifi pre order discount be used with this deal to bring the cost to $336?

    • -2

YES IVE UPDATED THE DEAL. Such a gooood deal :)))

    • +2

Where can I sign up the pre order discount?

  • +9

So final total is $1336 ($536 + $800). Thanks OP.

    • -1

      Its 536 for s25
      800 for s25+

      • +3

Not if you're cancelling the plan, which is $800 ontop, right?

      • +2

Sorry but is it the GALAXY2025 or different code?

      • Pre order price is 2137
        -1700
-200 (if it works for buying on plan)

        800 plus 237

        1037 for ultra

        • Coupon doesnt work for me when trying to preorder online.

          Anyone had the same issue?

          • @mikey43: You have to port in your number. In store only

            • @CodeXD: Not when trying to pre order phone online outright. Coupon didnt work

              • +3

@mikey43: You might need to ask on chat or in person. AFAIK the "code" everyone keeps talking about is GALAXY2025 from Samsung and won't work on JB website

show them the $200 preorder code they should give you the further discount

                • +2

@CodeXD: Ive got a $200 coupon from JB for pre registering.
                  Separate from Samsung offer

                  • +1

@mikey43: Ah I see. Then it'll just be JB system not updated to accept the code. All you can do now is wait it out.

        • Sorry for the newbie questions as I have not done any pre order phone.
After pre-ordering, when can we get the phone?
When will the mobile plan starts (starting to charge $99)
We assume the mobile plan is cancelled on Telstra website. After that, who will charge us the $800?

          Thanks in advance.

          • +2

            @fatice:

After pre-ordering, when can we get the phone?

Phone release date 14th Feb. JB will contact you when it is ready for pick up.

When will the mobile plan starts (starting to charge $99)

The same day you sign up.

We assume the mobile plan is cancelled on Telstra website. After that, who will charge us the $800?

You will get a telstra bill for the $800.

            • @CodeXD: Thanks for the info.
May I know the timing of the cancelation? e.g. cancel right after sign up, after the phone has been collected?

              Thanks again.

            • +1

              @G-rig: @G-rig
Thanks for the explanation. Yes, I did not read all the thread as it is too long. It would be nice its on WiKi.

Does it mean I should only cancel the mobile plan after the phone has been collected (6th Feb)? or I can cancel it right away.

              Thanks again for the reply.

                • @G-rig: What I am afraid of is that if the plan is cancelled before the phone is collected, it might void the contract, and the phone can no longer be collected.

            • @G-rig: Hey! I just tried cancelling via Telstra app but in response I got an agent telling I should do it through my old provider? (For reference I haven't activated my Sim card yet and my plan is not showing up in the Telstra app. I transfered a coles prepaid number). What should I do? Thanks! (Noob as well here)

      • How will you use samsung code with Jb Hi-Fi? Just curious as I have the code too and this seems a really good deal.
        Edit: Got it!

        • How did you get the code?

                • +2

@G-rig: Sir this is a JB HiFi deal

                    • @G-rig: There was a lot of confusion about what the code is this morning. That was my comment and what triggered someone to reply saying $200 coupon is from JB for pre registering.

People are commenting asking for the code from those who did sign up

  • never heard anyone getting their first month refunded, any tips?

    • +2

I feel shy to ask cancel at first month. I wonder how it works

      • i think u can use their live chat

      • +9

        Dont be shy

        • +1

Just let your feelings roll on by…

    • +9

You get on your hands and knees and beg for dear life. I’ve gotten it refunded multiple times.

      • +1

lol can i hire u to beg for me?

        • +34

          Yes, $99

  • +16

Would this not apply? It's from the T&Cs for the $99 plan

    Voucher Repayment Fee
6.2 If you received a JB Hi-Fi Voucher when you purchased your Mobile Service and you cancel

    • +6

It certainly seems that way, from the site :

The $1700 off the purchase price of a Samsung Galaxy Ultra phone(referred to as the “JB Hi-Fi Voucher” in the Telstra Terms and Conditions…

      • +3

Right? Straight off the JB site. Seems pretty risky

The $1700 off the purchase price of a Samsung Galaxy Ultra phone(referred to as the "JB Hi-Fi Voucher" in the Telstra Terms and Conditions and replacing the dollar value of the Voucher in the Critical Information Summary) will be applied to the purchase price of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra phone and available to you instore after connection approval by Telstra. If you cancel or move to a lower cost/different plan then you must pay a Voucher Repayment Fee to Telstra pro-rated against the remaining months of your plan's minimum term.

          • -4

@G-rig: Does it come with sd card slot?

          • +1

@G-rig: I sold a S24U 256gb in excellent condition very recently but before S25 launch for $1k on marketplace. Great price given I bought it on preorder and got the Samsung watch too.

    • +1

Curious to know as well. Does anybody know if this is same terms as previous deal where max $800 is payable?

      • +6

Nope, JB seems to have updated the policy. The payable seems to be $1,700 for cancellation.

        • -1

Telstra website still says 800 on CIS. Guess Jb just changed theirs

          • @Xwahash: When cancelling your deal with JB mobile, so their policy applies over telstras

            • @niggardly: So key would be to cancel with telstra, right?

              • @Xwahash: Can you do that? JB managers your contract cos signed through them

                • +3

@niggardly: Yes you can cancel with Telstra. All JB does is sign up your email address and phone number onto telstra. So you'll have telstra log in and password etc to cancel directly.

    • +5

Looks the same as when I did it for the Pixel 9 pro XL preorder and had no problems. The maximum voucher repayment fee of $800 is still in the critical information summary and overrides the terms and conditions you have here.

So the calculation actually ends up a bit different than what op posted. If you have to pay for the first month you pay ((23/24) * $800) + $237 = $1003.67.

You would pay the full 800 if you manage to cancel without paying the first month. I've seen this work if you schedule a date for it to start in the future and cancel before it starts.

      • So what's the best way to do this? Set the start to Feb 23 and cancel today? Then total would be $237 + $800 = $1037?

        • +1

I never did it myself but have a look at the pixel 9 pro XL deal for some discussion on it.

I think it somewhat depends who you get in the store. It seemed silly to me at the time that my plan started immediately even though the phone didn't come out for another week. So I think it would just be a matter of convincing the person at JB hi Fi to have it take effect later. Maybe tell them you want it to align with your current plan expiring.

Edit: oh also my calculation in my previous comment needs +$99 for the first month if that's the way you go so just over $1100 total.

          • @EBC: And just to confirm, you cancelled via Telstra right? JB HiFi won't suddenly charge you the remaining $1700 - $800 = $900?

            • +1

@marshmall0w2: I am pretty sure I called the number from the JB Hi Fi app. But that number takes you to a Telstra rep. Honestly it shouldn't matter because the JB Mobile plans are entirely managed by Telstra and subject to the Telstra CIS. Also once you sign up it should say in the app (it may take a day or two) the cost to cancel the plan somewhere. Mine said $800 after the plan was active.

  • No trade in bonus?

Has anyone got a $200 pre order bonus to see if it stacks as well?

    • It's 200 off RRP plus 200 pre-order bonus coupon so your getting 512gb for 1937. I just tested it

Sucks about the s pen nerf

      • Yep. But as it’s a mobile phone plan deal you have to do it in person. I’m sure if you show them your code they should discount it by that $200 though.

        • +1

Yeah the email says show the coupon in person in the store. It's the email with this deal so it should work fine

      • When did you get the coupon? I remember signing up for the preorder but didn't get any code. I just remember it said I would get the code as soon as the phone went on sale.

        • Got jb voucher just in the last 30 mins

  • Just waiting for bonus trade in from JB… Have a pixel 8 to get rid of

  • How do I get the 200$ voucher?

    • Did you pre register? Check your inbox

      • I see I did not pre register for it, missed that

      • i did but still no email for me

        • Same

          • @Jklaro: Same. only got the generic Galaxy2025 code email.

            • @ChipsChicky: I just got the jbhifi voucher that i did sign up for

      • I registered but didn't get any email

  • +1

If you already have a phone to trade just wait for a good Samsung trade in deal.
I have switch phones every 2 years for only $200-300 each time.

Out of topic the biggest improvements unfortunately is a new battery. They seem to degrade very quickly!
The rest doesn't evolve very quickly.

    • Typically how long do you have to wait for a good deal? Isn't it usually the release date that's got the best deal?

      • Yeah best deal is usually around release.

    • I've got the S20 FE 5G and was hoping the S24 Ultra would be a better price by now but it's still extremely high.

I've never traded in and didn't know they did good trade-in offers. Will a trade-in offer only apply to the S25s (as opposed to the S24 Ultra I'm looking for)?

      • I can't remember, I've always only bought the more recent phone.

  • I guess this does not apply to numbers already with JB mobile. I really need to port out asap

    • Just get an aldi $5 sim port out, then port back in when you sign up to the deal hehe

      • Do you know if you need to be ported out for a certain time for this to work?

Currently with Telstra and looking to use one of the JB deals but I've previously seen people talk about having to be ported out for 30 days or a full billing cycle for it to work.

        • Curious to know this as well. Do they strictly enforce the 30-day rule? Any experiences?

          • +1

@EssendonUser: Hi guys. They don't care anymore. But you didnt hear that from meeeeeee

    • +3

Just buy a $10 kogan starter sim and port that

    • Yeah, it's (profanity) annoying. I'm with JB on a SIM-only plan and I feel like I get penalised by them as a result. Like yeah, I could 'port' a $5 SIM over to them but why not just make this offer available to everyone?
