that Mobile Service within any applicable Voucher Term, you must pay us the outstanding
amounts for the JB Hi-Fi Voucher you received for the cancelled Mobile Service (the Voucher

Max cancellation fee is $800. The $99 first months charge In past deals I’ve usually got this refunded though if you’re really nice, but be aware in case if you are unable to get the $99 refunded. T&C: https://www.telstra.com.au/help/critical-information-summari…

Also keep in mind this deal is for porting in your number, so if you’re planning to cancel you could get a $5 Aldi sim and port in with that.

    • If you are currently on Telstra, you need to be off the network for 30 days before porting back in.
It shows in the system when the number was ported out.

      • Thanks for the reply. It is not direct telstra, but goodguys mobile without any telstra plus, similar to jbmobile or Aldi which runs on telstra network..Would that 30 days be still applicable?

  • When would you plan to cancel this? Before you receive the phone? Or wait until you receive the phone and then cancel as soon as you physically receive it?

    • Cancel the plan as soon as you ported or walk out of JB store.
If you wait until u get the phone then u will pay $99 first month

  • +1

If you sign up today, will service be activated today and phone will come later? I think phones will arrive in Feb, so first month's payment may not get refunded

  • Just received jb $200 voucher

    • Did you sign up to the marketing email today?

      • Last week.

    • Me too thought i wouldn't get it. But still dont know it will work with this

  • -2

JB updated the repayment fee after the cancellation; I guess it's not a very good deal.

    $237 + $99 + $1,629-ish

    • link? where did they even pull the $1629 from lol

Full T&A you can find on the OP did attach above.

        • +2

This has been the same set of T&Cs + CIS for years. In previous deals it was overridden by the "Maximum voucher repayment fee" in the CIS.

This part of the T&Cs defines how the voucher repayment fee is calculated, but it doesn't alter how the "Maximum voucher repayment fee" is calculated. So if the voucher is $800 or more, it has met/exceeded the maximum and is therefore capped at $800. Then that $800 is used as the "Voucher repayment fee" to do the calculations for the section of the T&Cs you have posted.

As far as I can tell it has been working this way for several years. Granted it is very confusing but I haven't seen a single instance where it hasn't worked this way in any of the previous deals.

For the record I did this last year for the Pixel 9 Pro XL with no issues.

  • So if we were to cancel, we need to pay the full voucher back which is 1700?

    • waiting on Telstra CIS.

  • I feel really dumb for asking how all this works.
So do I go into jb to port in my number.
    Preorder the phone online.
When I get phone when do I cancel out of $99 plan?
So how much will I have to pay out right?
    Cheers.

    • +2

You go into store and do the connection and then order it at the counter, or online, the choice is yours.

  • +6

Refuse to buy, let the prices keep dropping. Tech is pretty good, go midrange phone.

  • @Mattycee and when do I cancel plan and how much will I have to pay?

  • +5

The S25 Ultra its hardly an upgrade over the S24. Same camera and ram, if anything reduced spen features.

    • +1

Only ai. But no one uses that feature.

  • Already have Telstra number and want to keep my number
Have to port out to another provider and then port back to Telstra?

Or do I start a new plan and then switch my current number to this?

  • Can someone enlighten me whether the s25 Ultra, s25+ and s25 are with Snapdragon or Exynos? Or the Ultra is Snapdragon only but s25+ and s25 are with Exynos? Thanks.

    • +3

      All models have Snapdragon.

  • +1

sorry so what is the latest total cost after cancellation ?

  • OK this might be a silly question but im not seeing anywhere that contradicts, so would like advice.
Does the $1100 voucher for signing up to the $99 plan stack with the $1700 off the phone or does the $1700 replace that? EDIT: im dumb, no it doesnt stack and its clear in the T&C

  • Anyone bought it and cancelled? There seems to be some debate on the min voucher repayment fees.

    • I signed up same deal for P9PXL and we had a similar debate. Was charged $800 cancellation fee and NOT $1,700

      • Was that done recently

        • Oct 2024 when P9PXL was released

  • Simple Question: how much it would go out of my pocket.! When I pick up phone.! I don’t have code and if I canceled straight away.!

      • Plus the $767 termination fee

        • That's not an upfront out of pocket cost.
Usually have 10 days or so until it's direct debit from telstra but yean.

          • @G-rig: He said if he cancelled straight away…

If they don't activate the sim until Feb 15 then he skips the first month $99 but the termination will be full $800.

If they activate it asap then he pays $767 on termination and $99 for first month which can be refunded by telstra.

            • @krisspy: Well he won't be signing up instore if they aren't out until 15 Feb and for the 99/plan you have to do it instore.

I did it last time - don't worry, it gets debited later, not an out of pocket expense initially.

Always a cluster fk these threads.

          • @G-rig: When I signed up for P9PXL deal, $99 was deducted upfront plus $767 cancellation fee that was billed a week later after cancellation

            • @OZBsince2018:

Simple Question: how much it would go out of my pocket.! When I pick up phone.! I don’t have code and if I canceled straight away.!

Yes i said it's direct debited 10 days later or so by Telstra once you cancel (on the chat). They wouldn't charge it instore upfront.
I got the S24U the same way.

              • @G-rig: $99 first month fee + $437 if no voucher + cancellation fee of $767 billed later.

Some were not charged $99 first month fee upfront, and were able to save that too but hit and miss.

                • @OZBsince2018: That's what I've been saying. I did the exact same deal with S24U except got a $300 GC as well.
I also got refunded the $99 first month charge as I didn't use the sim card at all.

Anyway it's not that great a deal and no hardware upgrades so will wait for the S26U.

    • apparently the s-pen doesnt have bluetooth anymore and cant do remote camera shutter. i never knew it did now i kind i wish it had it lol

      • the one time i tried to use that it was shit anyway- i'd just set a timer.
barely need the pen to be honest (personally)

        • Why dont you just raise your hand when you are in feame

  • So if you cancel, the total you pay is $1700 voucher + $437 cost (without code) + $99 monthly fee (if not waived)? $2136 total payment?

    • No it would be $766 like last time but maybe have to cop the first month's $99 (last time i got it refunded as didn't use the sim.

  • So we have to pay $1700 for cancellation?

  • +17

So $1,700 replaces the dollar value of the Voucher ($800) in the Critical Information Summary, but it does not replace the Maximum Voucher Repayment Fee ($800).

If you cancel, you must pay back the pro-rata amount of the Voucher ($1,700) for any remaining period (24 months). However, this is capped at $800.

So if I wanted to get the S25 Ultra 1tb for $2537.00, the following would apply:
    $2537 - $1,700 - $200 + $800 + $99 = $1,536.

    512 GB: $2,137 - $1,700 - $200 + $800 + $99 = $1,136

    • Thank you for making it super clear!

    • Hmm. The $800 is 24 months you may get the $99 back, used to be 800/23 months = $766.

Could still be a good changeover but would have been best to get the $200 voucher.
Not sure i'd even call this an upgrade to be honest, not sure if i'll bother but prefer the form factor without the sharp corners - almost the same as an iphone lol.

    • +1

That's what I thought as well, but why did OP cross out the voucher repayment fee?

      • +1

I didn’t. Admin did :/. I’m just going to leave this as it is let ppl do their own research. But in my opinion @Koipanda is correct it’s just a $800 voucher repayment fee. But you could wait and see other ppl response in coming days how it went with their signup.

    • This really doesn't make it much of a deal then.

So many hoops when you can just buy it from education store for same price.

      • @Butt Scratcher I'm not sure why it is crossed out - maybe doesn't want to be held liable and YMMV, or it's encouraging cancelling the mobile contract. This deal relies on the hack of $800 not $1700 otherwise it's pointless and a lot of work. Also there is no $300 GC like last time.

@DingoBilly agreed mate. Will have to look at the other thread and Samsung direct deals coming up. Wouldn't you need an EDU email?

It's a shame the 'pre-registration' promo is over but the phone is still a pre-order and not out till 15 Feb. Kind of all pointless.

        • +1

crazy now we are in the days of preordering preorders

    • -1

No that is not correct. I agree this is written deliberately vague to cause confusion and customers are likely to be caught out by these ambiguous terms.

In my opinion, if the $1700 replaces the dollar value of the voucher ($800) in the Critical Information Summary, then it is only logical to consider the $1700 must also apply to the Maximum Voucher Repayment Fee as well which is the same amount ($800). Otherwise this whole exercise of ''replacing the dollar value of the voucher in the CIS' is absolutely pointless.

      • +1

Nope you're incorrect. If it's not stated, then it's not applicable. The T&C clearly refers to "Voucher" and not "Maximum Voucher Repayment Fee". A drafting mistake? Thats on JBHIFI, not the consumer.

    • -1

      You didn't add $237 upfront

  • +2

So what if i but 2 Aldi Sim,

sign up port in the number.
Get out of the store and port the number again to the 2nd Aldi Sim.

The plan will be cancelled automatically right?

    • Genius!!!

  • Can somebody clarify whats the total fee please if you cancel it in the first month.
    Too many discussions

  • +2

If anyone who already signed up and cancelled, can you please update how did it go with repayment fee?

  • This $1700 voucher only applies to the s25 series, right? Or can I use them to buy an S24 ultra?

    • +1

$1100 voucher is the standard one that should apply

  • +1

Seems like these are pre-order not in store today.. are people just ordering on the website or something - thought have to do it in store if it's a plan. The storage upgrade seems to be for the non-telco deal? (I didn't pre-register anyway i guess)

The T&C's says the offer (pre-order code) cannot be used in conjunction with other mobile deals (this one).
    https://imgur.com/WKzG1ND

    • You can use the code with this. The code has nothing to do with JBHifi mobile or trade in offers as shown in that image. It’s a separate code JBHifi sent to people specifically for preordering s25 range.

      • yes the rep got it wrong but said the codes being sent out today.
A lot of the staff don't know what's going on with some of these deals.

Should have just got the P9XL or Pro, but will probably hold onto the S24U for longer since it's not really an upgrade (just cosmetic changes).

  • +4

Has anyone here actually done this TODAY in store and successfully cancelled the plan? How much were you charged in total?

    • Cancellation invoice comes in a week time after cancellation

    • If you cancel how much is the final total we are paying for S25 Ultra?

    • +1

i did mine today (not planning on cancelling though). they did charge the first $99 today (plus the balance on the phone). so getting the $99 refunded might be a pain. I was directly handed the SIM also and they strongly encouraged me to put it in my phone while instore.
Given as above the cancellation doesnt seem worth it if you are up for the $1700 i think its a moot point anyway though, deal is good if you are happy with the plan, not if you dont want it

      • So do they have the 512GB in store already from today then?
Doesn't seem like an upgrade to me from S24U but prefer the rounded corners.

No $300 GC this time (or $200 preorder for me) but just weighing it up.
Need to change sim cards anyway tomorrow.

        • nah its preordered, they will have it on release in Feb. with the SIM as my old service was cancelled they asked me to put it in my phone to 'verify' everything is ok so no hassles later. coming from an s22 its an upgrade for me, and needed due to my cracked screen

          • +1

@perfectlydark: Guess you need the plan but I wouldn't be doing that and paying for something before I get the phone. Would just go in when they got stock (but don't have a preorder discount anyway).

No intention of keeping the plan so the Sim won't be going in. I don't think I'll bother anyway. Cheers

            • @G-rig: yeah, in hindsight theres no downside by waiting until day before release and doing the same thing.(risk of no stock? but probably not worth worrying about). If you dont want the plan I wouldnt bother, theres better ways to get the phone, i wouldnt trust this whole cancel/$800 thing

              • +1

@perfectlydark: It's been fine in the past but will see when someone actually posts they've cancelled for $800. The only drama is if they amended the cis, or if Telstra don't let you lol.

It's still a shit deal and higher RRP than the old pixel days where you get trade in bonuses, GC, this and that, and then costs $200 to upgrade. This relies on the hack.

Everyone just ends up asking the same shit on every page instead of reading it all and all the other past deals the same.

      • what does the paperwork say? was it $800 maximum voucher value or $1700?

  • +1

If my maths is right, the total price of phone comes up at $1037 assuming you cancel the phone plan and pay $800 charges to Telstra. How is this better deal than the one provided on Samsung portal for 512GB which comes down to same value (or lower if you use Edu/Gov portal)?

    • Just do that then? Sounds easier.

Any benefit in trading in - haven't looked into it but assume you need an edu email?

      • You can do trade in on regular website. Edu portal just have already discounted phone but yes you need edu email for it which I am also searching for!

        • yes mobile monster $950 seems like the best.

Just saying these preorder deals aren't what they used to be
          - no $300 GC
          - no trade-in bonus etc.
          - RRP up usually (but $1700 off is good, only as it is a $900 hack.

    • -3

It's $2149 on Samsung's website. How do you get $1037?

      • +1

Sorry, this includes the prices after applying all the vouchers.
        $100 voucher,
        $400 trade in,
        $200 free accessories,
        5% app discount.

After that it comes to about ~$1377 for S25U 512 GB (not including the trade in phone value). I quoted the original price after factoring trade in phone value.

        • Thanks that makes sense. I'm not going to do trade in and accessories so this JB deal is better for me.

  • So I'm currently on a JB phone plan that's out of contract from a previous deal.. Do they have deals for existing customers? If not then if I port out and port in how long do I have to wait?

    • This deal makes sense only if you cancel. So if you have to cancel, you can simply get a new number when you sign up for this deal and cancel it later.

      • So if you have to cancel, you can simply get a new number when you sign up for this deal and cancel it later.

This deal is port in only so you'll need to get a new number elsewhere (and obviously don't get a new telstra number lol)

        • No. Port IN or new customers. I signed up as a new customer and got a new number.

          • @OZBsince2018:

when you switch your number instore to JB HI-FI Mobile

But yes, it's usually port in or new service (last time i got a new service as i wasn't going to use the sim at all).

  • Anyone signed up yet and cancelled? Just wanted to know if u paid 1700 or 800.

    • +2

Its 800. Confirmed with telstra live chat

  • +3

wife has s22 ultra and loves to use s-pen to take selfies, they removed bluetooth from s-pen in this version. she was upset and i was happy that there will be less selfies

    • +2

Don’t tell her the open hand trick

  • If you cancel how much is the final total we are paying for S25 Ultra?

    • The cancellation is $800 or $400 after 12 months. So total cost would be $1037.

      • Are you sure about $800, as there are other comments mentioning that cancellation of voucher is Pro-rata based i.e. if I cancel in first month, I will have to return $1700 of voucher?

$200 voucher is Galaxy2025 that JB accepted and reduced price by $200 or is it some JB's own voucher?

  • Anyone tried to get port in credit from Telstra yet?

  • +3

Just ordered it. Can confirm the $200 voucher works, but be sure to tell them before they start processing it, there was a big (profanity) and they had to refund my order and start over because apparently it has to go through before they take the $1700 off.

    • Perfect.

So 237 out of pocket today?
