Jsut got sms ready for pickup

  • Hi fellow OzBargainers,
Just purchased the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra 512GB and cancelled within the hour. Received the following email from JB Hi-Fi Mobile:

    Hi Chris,

    Order reference: B25041022552***

Your request to cancel 0439014*** is complete. No further action is required.

We're sorry to see you go.

Is this the generic email everyone received when cancelling their service? Does it impact on receiving the phone?

    • +1

Nope your fine, mine was the same its just their ordering system, i did the same as you and it was golden.

      • Thank you so much for getting back to me, legend!

  • How many physical sims can fit in? Mine only have one slot

    • +1

      1

    • +1

      1 sim 1 esim

Esim more flexible as you can store approx 10 esim profiles at a given time

      • Not every provider has esim. Aldi doesn't.
Apparently some s25 ultra can fit two physical sims.

        • +1

          Probably international stock.
Aussie stock only one sim slot

    • +4

How lazy pal, read the thread 😂

    • +4

      $3296.99

      • Dont be mean :)

    • The cancellation fee is hard labour in the centrelink waiting rooms.

  • +4

    Just picked up my phone.
Thanks for all the help and support.
    Cheers!

  • +1

    picked up phone!
have got $99 refunded, waiting for it to go back into account.

Does anyone know how to pay off the $766.59 earlier? it says it will take it from the card I signed up with on 13/02

    • You can do it through Telstra app or you can call customer care number.

      • ok thanks ill try that

    • Yes they will auto charge in 14 days will shop in your telstra account or speak to telstra

    • Did you have to chase up for 99 dollars refund?

      • +1

I gave them 48 hours when they said my 99 dollars still pending. Once it was not pending anymore, i requested further for the refund via telstra chat

        • Yes exactly This. people have to be patient.

    • How did u get 99 refunded? From jb or online telstra?

  • Issue with getting new phone: google wallet doesn't work yet with bank cards. Says contactless not available for this device. CBA card

    • Search NFC in settings, enable.

      • Was already enabled.
        Maybe software issue?

Anyone else experiencing the same problem?

  • Hey guys, trying to cancel via the telstra app, do I need to put JB sim in my phone to activate it? When I sign in to Telstra it says I have no active services (but this may be because I used my non-ported number to register. If I try to change number it wants six digit verfication code from new ported number (from $5 Aldi sim)
Thanks in advance, first time I have done this and advice in the thread has said to cancel via Telstra app not JB app

    • +1

Don't activate the Sim. Telstra service won't show up. Just tell them you're wanting to cancel the contract using chat service. They will locate your plan.

      • Awesome, thanks

        • +2

Ok, so thanks to Deuce1995's advice I have cancelled via Telstra chat - cost of $766.59 and now have email confirming it…
but the agent would not budge on refund of the first month $99 even though sim is not activated and was only in JB-Hifi signing up around 4 hours ago
Like many others, I guess I'll have to try my luck a few times
          Thanks again Deuce1995

    • I don't think so because they(becextech) sell international models and not AU model so wouldn't qualify for price match.

      • Fwiw, I started with 'Can you match Costco price?' The answer was 'Yes but we need to take into account the cost of the membership too' even though I had a Costco card to show him (expired mind). I decided it wasn't worth it for the extra $23 saving, maybe I should have stood my ground or bartered for a usb stick etc in true OZB style?

        • Way too much effort for $23 imo but can't hurt to ask.

Having only set up the phone and not tested thoroughly, the loud speaker sounds disappointing compared to the s24u. No fidelity (less clear and crisp). Happened every time I 'upgraded' pixels from the 3xl.

  • Anyone received the S25+?

    • Yes, I picked it up yesterday.

      • +1

Damn, haven't received any notification yet. I'll give them a call

  • +2

Some photos for the punters. https://imgur.com/a/05dZTWu

I wasn't sure about this colour phone and case combo but works well I think.
Previously had the black version with the S24, great cases and grippy. The magnet is where the outer circle is.
    Hopefully the clear doesn't yellow.
I had a $10 voucher so got from ebay from Pro Gadgets.

    • Looks nice, got a link to that specific case?

Is the screen protector you have on also from the same brand?

      • +2

Cheers, used to black but something different.

        https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/335780538188

Covers are AmFilm from Amazon, $11.99 for a 2 pack. The installation template thing they provide makes it dead easy. Fingerprint works well (set up after).

        https://amzn.asia/d/5VVXrKO

        • +1

Can confirm the screen protector is top class. The camera protector however, is too big for the case that i got.

          • +1

@Sphynx: Yeah this brand of protector is my goto and pretty cheap. I am geussing the Spigen brand may a fraction of a mm narrower but this still works with the case. Aligned pretty well with the free template tool, better than can do by eye anyway.

Agree, I just throw those in the bin. Not worth it for the chance of any camera distortion/loss of clarity anyway.

          • @Sphynx: Does the Ultra retain the Armor glass's "anti reflectiveness" ?

            • @wad88: yes, so far so good!

            • +1

@wad88: Dunno, it seems fine Being a flat glass surface the phone would have some reflections anyway.
would you prefer a screen protector or smashed screen lol

    • Did you stick something on the back?

        • Cheers. When I looked initially it just showed a clear case

          • @atlas: Ah you must be new to ebay.

Stores love to have 1 listing with 5 different drop downs with 10 more options listed under each drop down haha

The case is one of the various drop down options under that clear case listing

    • I would recommend this encased falcon case, also comes with screen protector.
Its actually better than the otterbox defender on my s23U

      https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/aw/d/B0DRWC37V8/

      • +1

Would this feel a lot bulkier in hand?

        • It says the case is 2 cm thick. If true, that's pretty chunky.

          • @Grandslam: As long as it protects my phone. Dropped my phone multiple time on concrete from 1 to 1.5m high and eventually the otterbox plastic cracked, phone still intact.

        • yeah very chunky but suit people outdoors or in construction etc.
Google best cases or something. Most people want a slim one that offers max protection for that form factor.
I always get Spigen but plenty of other options around on amazon/ebay. We don't get some of the good US brands here.

I'm sure it's not the first cell phone you've bought :).

          • +1

@G-rig: Yeah, I normally go with compact cases from Spigen, Ringke or a little cheaper option as Nillkin

    • have a pic of the back?

        • with case on please

Just edited the post, For those that have missed out on the $200 code and are trying to obtain one. As a last ditch effort, there are some that have had success by telling the JBHIFi livechat that they lost the $200 code in their email, and the livechat agent has managed to send out a new code to their email that they received the next day. It’s worth a shot if you’re desperate for a code!
    Thanks @codename47 for the tip.

    • +1

      Thanks mate. Hope this helps.
@captainspeedy also received his code in a similar way.

Just live chat with jbhifi and tell them you subscribed and lost the email where you registered. Request them to be sent to an email. They might say no but it will magically appear the next day …fingers crossed.

    • FML!!!! I didn't see this before! I went in store today and paid the $437!

Is the code specific to this phone? I'm planning to sell the Ultra to get the Pixel 9 Pro

      • Man ive had the 9pro and sold it s25 ultra is wayy better, kepts having reception issues with 9 pro. you should try to get a code and go back to the store they can probably re do the order for you adding in the code.

        • I don't want the giant S25 ultra. I was initially intending to get the s25 base, but having an s22 base didn't make sense since nothing changed in the camera.

P9P camera is much better than s25 base and not as big as the Ultra.

Plan was to get the Ultra for $437, cancel plan for $800, sell Ultra for $1900ish and use the difference toward the P9P. $200 would have made a nice difference!

          • @Jewdas90:

            I don't want the giant S25 ultra

You could also have gotten S25+ for no upfront cost and only cancel plan for $800.

            • @CodeXD: S25+ Camera is the same as the base S25. Just a bigger phone with a bigger battery. I want a better camera than my S22 which is the same as the S25.

            • @CodeXD: It actually feels a lot better than the s24u, lighter and rounded corners.

          • @Jewdas90: Selling for $1900ish is very optimistic since lots of people will be flooding marketplace with all S25 phones. Just a quick search around my area(Sydney), most people I see are advertising S25Ultra 512GB for $1800. Realistically, it will probably be sold around ~$1600ish at best. Its still a good ~$400 profit.

            • @yummypinacolada: I'm hoping I'll find one of those clueless suckers who don't check and reach my target. Sounds terrible but if it's not from me it will be from someone else. Post pre-order price says $2337 so I think once that happens it'll be a bit easier.

Then I would have to just wait for the P9P 256gb to go down a bit or on sale!

          • @Jewdas90: You know theoretically you could just return your s25 ultra when you pick it up, nothing stops you from getting a refund for the total amount on your receipt.

            • @Bonesaw321: How much free money do you get out of doing that (since eveyone else asking silly questions?

Fun hobby. Maybe next time i'll get a couple, one to test properly. I'm liking this better than the S24U but new stuff is always a bit hyped up and they continue to cheap out on the hardware.

            • @Bonesaw321: This is not a guaranteed success. I know some people have done it but most JB managers already aware of these tricks and they can check if your phone is part of telco deal. When they find out what you're trying to do, you'll be treated like a scum who just try to get free money. The experience is totally different than asking a refund through telstra chat where you can just close the chat if you get rejected.

              • @yummypinacolada: I did it on the pixel 9 pro one last year :D. Yes it’s 50/50 and can confirm they look at you like complete scum hahaha, the manager has to decide they took some time and then decided to give it to me.

                • -1

@Bonesaw321: It wasn't 50/50 in my experience, I wouldn't want to try it again even its basically free money. FYI, I've tried 6 different stores around Sydney CBD before, they all reject the refund and one of the manager even making sure that I wouldn't be able to refund or exchange the phone on any JB store by adding a note on my invoice in their system.

                  • +1

@yummypinacolada: Yeah fair point, better to do it the ethical way and sell the phone than risk being flagged in their system.

              • @yummypinacolada: We are ozbarginrats. We have no shame.

            • @Bonesaw321: incorrect i tried 2 different stores today and they said they will only refund the $237 portion and the $1700 voucher just implodes..

              • @FrugalSquid: Lol why would you return it then.
At least they aren't allowing that, total piss take, some people got away at the start of the pixel 8-9 and s24 deals.

                • @G-rig: yes a total piss take if they just keep allowing you to return it hahaha seems they closed that loophole. But honestly able to buy a just launched flagship at impossibly cheap price is still good enough for me. can always sell it or give it to relative and sell their current phone.

              • @FrugalSquid: Really, that is very scammy of them.

            • @Bonesaw321: You mean the $437 I paid? I can't get the $766 cancellation fee back…

              • @Jewdas90: No, its to refund their $1700 off as a gift card. Basically you are paying ~$800 for getting $1700 jbhifi gift card which you can use to buy Apple, Bose, or any other items which rarely goes on sale.

                • @yummypinacolada: I will try my luck with that when I go in today. Otherwise I'll hodl when the s25 ultra price goes up to post preorder price and sell it off for $2k…get the pixel for $850 ish..

                  • @Jewdas90: Dreaming no one would pay 2k to buy one (used ie. Second owner even if sealed)

                    • @G-rig: Post preorder deal it will go up to $2337. And I will provide the receipt. Don't know why they wouldn't..

                  • @Jewdas90:

s25 ultra price goes up to post preorder price and sell it off for $2k

                    AHAHAHA LOL good luck

Take a look at current prices of S25 Ultra on facebook marketplace, you'll see why

                    • @CodeXD: Lol laugh all you want, I'm very aware of the current prices on marketplace. But with a little perseverance, I believe I can find the right buyer ;)

                      • @Jewdas90: true, there is as sucker born every minute!

                  • @Jewdas90: how was it? luck in returning? Gonna go tomorrow/today.

                    • @ffagz: Nah they wouldn't do it for me. I'd probably have to try at a different store..still deciding..

                      • @Jewdas90: Aight will try if it’s a no go it’s ok. Still a good deal

                  • -1

@Jewdas90: So wife went in and got it changed for iPhone.
                    Your mileage may vary

                    • @ffagz: No wayyyy, which store?? Am hoping Sydney Metro haha

What did she do? Just take the receipt and the phone and asked to change??

                      • @Jewdas90: Galleries. Went in said she got a valentines pressent but she likes iPhone and gold. The rep was nice and helped. Manager came in and did the transaction. Helps that she bought some accessories - made it look genuine - which it was.
Asking for a GC may have been a red flag but she wanted an iPhone anyway.
My Samsung coming form Samsung store anyways…

I look like an ozrat and they would have smelled me a mile away 😂

                        • @ffagz: GG! Well I'm female and the JB guys in Moore Park wouldn't let me swap it for the P9P. Am in the city on Monday so may give that a go haha.

                          • @Jewdas90: Gotta jump on those pre-orders at the time too.
Wouldn't be the best deal now anyway.

I was going to get one last time but got sick of waiting when the s24u plan cancellation hack came out.

                            • @G-rig: My S22 had no issues then. Only reason I'm looking at a new phone. Also want something that takes better moving shots coz I have a dog lol

                          • @Jewdas90: Ah yeah do that, they tend to me nicer in the CBD/City, and more snarky further out you go. Just Kidding, could be random thing.

                          • @Jewdas90: Now that is weird! Pixels are usually discounted themselves.
