      • the agent in your chat will advise of the ETC which is $766.xx and will ask you to confirm if you want to proceed with the cancellation….

        • -1

Thank you. How likely can $99 be refunded?

Also, the phone has not be picked up yet, would JB know plan has been cancelled when going to pick up the phone?

  • +2

After being declined 5-6 chat reps for the $99 refund. I went on to Telstra website and open the chat via the payment assistance page.
The chat rep refunded $99 almost instantly. Got the credit invoice as well.
    Happy days!!!

    • Oh I might try that now. What did you say to them?

      • +1

Just make sure the $99 you paid is no longer showing as pending in the JB Hifi app.
Used this template as shared by a fellow ozbargainer "I have finished requesting the cancellation of the $99 24-month JB Hi-Fi plan for service number xxxxxxx. Could you please refund the $99? I haven't even inserted the SIM into the phone or used the service."

        • +1

No need. I did this while it was still pending and had no issue with getting the $99 refunded. You'll get an email confirmation from JB to confirm the refund of $99

          • +1

@Duece1995: I tried just now and agent told me that they can see payment is still showing pending and to contact them back in 3 working days If i want a refund. These agents are so inconsistent man but I can see that payment is indeed pending in my amex portal, maybe it depends on credit card provider as well. Will try again on Monday

        • I cancelled my plan Friday last week and got told by the agent they will refund the $99.
It was pending at the time and cleared Monday. So far haven't gotten anything back or even received an email about a refund, just the usual $766 payment..

Got the reference number from the chat but should I wait longer or ask what's going on?

          • @Miner233: Ask and give them the reference number

    • +1

It worked, thanks so much for the suggestion. Those guys are so much nicer!
I used the script. My payment was pending so like others they couldn't do it on the spot, but said they will monitor until it's complete and then process the refund. Reference number provided in case any issues.

    • Did you log in to Telstra account on your phone?

      • +1

        nope, on desktop

    • +1

This worked for me too. Thanks for sharing!

  • -1

How is luck of returning the sealed phone back to JB?

Is it 7 days return policy or 30 days for phone?

    • You could probably resell it privately for a tidy profit?

  • For those who have cancelled the plan through Telstra app, check if you have got points to redeem.

Previously I bought 2 pcs of Samsung S25 and cancelled the plan through Telstra app. I got more than 10k points. So, I redeemed Belong $80 sim card and have activated the sim card today 😀. I chose data plan only, so it can be used for 5 months free data for me. It can still receive sms. So, I can use the new number for other freebies ;-)

    • Is the cancelled phone number under your Telstra Plau account/email?

      • I cannot see the cancelled numbers in the app. Previously I have Boost Mobile long time ago. I used Telstra too years ago. I can still login with previous Telstra ID. So, I used it for this Samsung deal.

    • Just get the app or call them

    Hi guys,

I signed up for another plan yesterday and the phone has been pre-ordered to arrive at last week of Feb. So is it ok to cancel my plan today, will there be a problem while picking up the phone? as I want to get that 99$ refund to want to cancel the plan asap. Thanks

Ive got the $200 off voucher if anyone wants to DM me if they can get into JB HI FI in time.

    • +1

      24 hours too late

      • Expires on the 14th?

      • Nope, ignore me, you are correct.

        • Hi MrrMagic, can you please pm me?

    • Why man why it could have been used on time either by you or nay one else but getting it wasted is really bad

    • @MrrMagic shame shame shame!
A lot of people would have loved this if you offered it anytime except after the deal is over 🙄.

  • Hi guys, has anyone used Samsung Care + before? Do you reckon it is worth? And how was the experience?

  • -8

Behold! The legendary OzBargain folk hath struck again, vanquishing JB Hi-Fi’s corporate greed with a deal so mighty on the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra that their accountants surely weep! We enjoyed cancelling our mobile plans with not a shred of shame, for fortune favours the bold! ‘Twas a joy to haggle among such masterful deal-seekers—may our wallets grow fat and our ozbargain pettiness henceforth never be denied!

Counterpoint: No phone should cost $2.3k.

      • +1

There is no doubt the markup is huge, they can probably make them for $400 max.
Prices are just silly with these set-storage units and same marketing strategy as Apple.

The point is folk on here love a good hack, a challenge and a bargain.

        • Yeah, the usual excuse people give is "muh R&D!", yet the thing is basically unchanged from the S24 Ultra (hell they even GOT RID of a feature with the S-Pen).

          • @GS9891: Also people need to get paid, warehouse rent has to be paid, taxes, freight charges, insurances, maintanance of factory machinery and electronics, loyalties to chip manufacturers, etc

            • @easternculture: Yeah, some margin is fine, but flagship components for say an S5 only ended with the phone being like $700~ retail back in the day still.

300% increases in the cost of flagship phones in a decade is insane. PC components (outside of nVIDIA gouging) have generally gotten cheaper since the 90s for better performance, but for some reason phones have done the reverse.

              • @GS9891:

Yeah, some margin is fine, but flagship components for say an S5 only ended with the phone being like $700~ retail back in the day still.

                Dont forget inflation is real.
All other human and logistical costs have also tripled or even more since 2005 or whenever s5 was released.

I remember petrol was less than 70c then, my annual salary was around $60k. Now petrol reaches over $2.20 on the cycle and the same job i was doing is getting paid $130k per year

                • @easternculture:

                  Dont forget inflation is real.

Yeah but not 300% in a single decade from 2014/15 when the S5 was their king. Not talking the 80s/90s/early 00s here of course, (though petrol is its own thing).

Again, other electronics, (including complex ones like PC components), haven't really skyrocketed that much at all (except for nVIDIA flagship GPUs again because of their own monopolistic circumstances). You could build a top-tier gaming PC for $2k in 2015 and can do more or less the same now (with an AMD GPU at least, or non-flagship nVIDIA).

          • @GS9891: yeah i already knew there are really no hardware upgrades, but it's a lot better ergonomically and the new UI 7 would make the most difference.
Why not get a new one with deals / hacks like these, can't say i was wrapped with the S24 anyway.

The cameras are rubbish on both.

            • @G-rig: Of course with a deal like this it's much more acceptable, was saying how the retail sticker price however is unjustifiable and people are perfectly right to squeeze through every contract loophole to get it as cheap as possible.

              • @GS9891: yeah there is no way it's every worth the RRP - don't know why they bother with it - just make it reasonably to start with (back when pixels were $899-999 and maybe $1299 for the samsung name, instead of heavily discounting straight away lol.

Anyone able to change the S25 to iPhone or S25 ultra? Seems like you have to stick with exactly what you ordered in the first place. No exchange or return.

    • One person did but generally no.
Choose right the first time or just sell brand new sealed.

    • you can do a change of mind return and use the refunded $1700GC to purchase another handset….i did this with the P9P late last year

      • So you think they'll hand you an apple iPhone instead, Never many discounts on those.

        • i returned the P9P and got an iPhone 16 Pro and paid the difference…

it's basically a change of mind refund and using the refunded amount to purchase the iPhone….it's not a 'free swap'

          • -1

@LiQiD: Sounds good yeah shouldn't make any difference to them but seems they are reluctant. you'd just get a dirty look and hate for wasting their time cancelling these plans for vouchers ha.

            • @G-rig: @LiQiD @G-rig they are not considering any possibility or change of mind. In short, according to them, stick to what you got in the first place.

              • -1

                @Shahw: As per JB's Refunds & Warranties guide (https://support.jbhifi.com.au/hc/en-au/articles/360053005194…):

"Unused & Unopened, packaging in good condition (product not faulty) - eg change of mind" is covered in this policy….

Anyway I'm planning on returning mine sometime this week so will let you outcome….

                • @LiQiD: All the best and lemme know how it goes. I tried two stores without any luck.

              • @Shahw: Yes they shouldn't be rorting the system to that extent and wasting everyone's time buying these with the intention of returning.

I'm sure you physically could return (if unopened) it with ACL but they'd hate you for it.

I still agree people shouldn't buy them to start with and make up your mind. The deal over anyway but eventually this loophole of cancelling plans for cheaper voucher repayment will be closed or something.

                • @G-rig: Agreed, JB Telco have given much better deal if we compare it with Harvey Norman Optus. We only need to pay up to $800 for $1700 off where you are basically stuck with 2 years contract with HN.

Also, if people keep refunding telstra bundle phones at JB, then they could easily change this deal like HN did by putting the telstra voucher as a discount instead of amount paid by gift card(Yes, invoice from HN will be shown as $0 if you bundle with Optus). If that's the case, people can't even claim TRS if they are planning to travel.

                  • @yummypinacolada: Yes eventually it will be changed so people don't completely take the piss.

Was kind of easier a few years ago with the pixel deals and reasonable RRP. You'd yet a pre-order discount, bonus trade-in voucher & decent trade, free stuff (like google mini gen 2 + CCwGTV, which you can sell), $300 GC.. no signing up or cancelling of plans and the phone wouldn't cost much at all (and cheap upgrade).

The inflated price for new flagship phones with minimal advancements is silly these days. Just apple driving it and Samsung trying to be apple.

  • Pre-ordered from Samsung store more than a week ago. Still awaiting for shipping. Estimated shipping date is 24th March. Anyone also has the same late shipment date?

    • what model? Ultra 512 gb?

      • +1

        Yes

    • You might have just missed the the earlier shipments as latest shipping date is 24/3 for any colour if you order now. Less popular colours are earlier.

      • Damn, should have ordered a pink one. I will use a case to cover it anyway, so the colour is not a consideration factor.

        • Didn't you see the shipping date before you ordered? It shows when you select the colour you want and it also told you in cart or during checkout. I think there was a brief period where it didnt show the dates for some when selecting colour though but should have shown in cart/checkout.
Pink is still 10/3. Whitesilver says available now, Silverblue and Titanium black from 3/3.

          • @8azinga: I did saw it, but did not try other colours to see the delivery date. I was thinking it might be just a worse case scenario, it should be shipped way before that.

      • Don't get ahead of yourself mate. Claim first on ozbargain and let's keep it at that.

      • I think I was - yours was a photo of the box.

  • Hi guys have anyone received the phone order on 12th Feb or later?

    • Yeah, I picked up mine yesterday

    • Did this on the last day on the 13th….picked up phone there and then

  • -1

Oh finally got my phone today😊 just wondering can this phone be returned to jbhifi.. And will they give the $2137-$200= $1937 refund.. Has anyone tried?

    • At managers discretion and they have been told not to accept return for phones bought on jb plans

    • Why don't you want it, why did you buy it?

      • For profit?

        • -1

          yes, rorting the system.
          What's your time worth lol

          • @G-rig: What's rorting the system? 95% of people that bought a phone here have terminated their contract.

It's not rorting the system at all.

            • +2

@Duece1995: Is it - old mate is talking about returning the phone altogether for vouchers, which is a total piss take.
JB still get the money spent with them anyway but it's a waste of everyone's time.

              • @G-rig: Aren't we all wasting our time so that our boss can have a better car, house and w1fe?

              • @G-rig: Agree. Definitely wouldn't be attempting to return the phone.

    • Yeah most likely it will only be $1937 not the full $2137

  • Those who have successfully sold their phone, how much did you end up getting? I've seen some post advertising $1,4k for 256gb and $1,5k for 512gb on FB marketplace around my area.

    • +1

Yeah it is a bit low as so many people claiming they were gifted a Samsung S25 Ultra in FB Market. Lol!

    • +1

Sold for $1.6k on the 14th, was going to use it myself to replace my S22 but after actually trying one in store before pickup I realised what a horribly oversized beast it is. Going to hold out for the next Xperia and see… (x_x )

      • Lol s22 and s23 bigger.
No need to upgrade every year but may as well when free, your older phones worth a lot less the Longer you keep it.

        • S22 standard non-ultra. Thought I wouldn't mind a little bigger but when they're in a case man those ultras are just stupid big.

          • @GS9891: Yeah gotta compare like with like.
I would have been happy with a pixel 9 pro but couldn't be bothered waiting last time and got a s24u (same hack as this deal). Never liked the square corners, the S25U feels heaps better and UI7 much nicer to use.

  • Has anyone received the phone yet?..
    I pre-ordered the plain s25 last week, 13th, and still awaiting…

    • I picked mine Monday or Tuesday. I ordered mine 13th February 2025

  • I picked mine on yesterday 19th..ordered on 12th.
