How can I get a $200 code? Is it too late now?

Looks we missed the boat but JB has free base storage upgrade.

Personally, I'm a bit meh on galaxy devices these days. Cameras and batteries on Chinese android devices are a lot better but need to import and they're pricey.
Yeah particularly with those new Silicon-Carbon batteries right? wouldn't have thought there cameras were too far behind though. Guess I need to refamiliarize myself with the whole smartphone scene.
@TsundereGuy: Yeah, the silicon carbon batteries. Around 6000mah vs 5000mah in the s25 ultra. I'm looking at the vivo x200 pro and the telephoto looks insane. It does really good telemacro photos.
Realistically, any new flagship phone will be way better than phone from a few years ago.
@Caped Baldy: Don't forget samsung still only using 45W charging vs 100W of chinese brands
Samsung is now just releasing the same phones each with some small improvements in hardware
Samsung also only giving AU customers 12GB ram vs 16GB of some asian countries (fragmented specs based on region)..
At least this year they couldn't do the same for their CPU due to low yield@Caped Baldy: Seems like you can buy the x200 on this website https://bestmobilephone.com.au/vivo-x200-pro/?srsltid=AfmBOo…
Is that an import?
@BluebirdV: Yeah, all of them are imports. I saw that best mobile phones has mixed reviews. Spectronics has slightly better reviews.
What are the top of the line chinese phones atm?
Do they have global roms or any issues with reception bands?
@CodeXD: For such an expensive purchase I'd be very nervous buying international models (even if global) both for warranty and potential AU telco bans…
The Oppo Find X8 Pro is officially locally available, at a reasonable price of $1800 for the 512gb and ticks all the right boxes. The 9400 is actually a better SoC than Elite for day to day use due to better battery management.
Camera is also neck and neck, with some wins for X8 Pro and some for 200 Pro
@OpayuOnam: How long do the security updates last on the Oppo Find X 8 Pro? Are they likely to discount it soon?
@BluebirdV: The Oppo Find X8 Pro receives five years of Android OS updates and six years of security patches.
Looking back at Find X5 series which was the last Find X series in Australia, they are still updating it.
So I tend to believe them.@BluebirdV: That may be true for their budget range, but both Find X and Reno range seems to be getting decent updates.
@Circly: Vivo x200 Pro. They have a global and Chinese version which have a different operating system (funtouch vs origin) and limited mobile bands for the China version and the Chinese version is missing some google maps history tracking and Android Auto support is promised in updates. There's also the Oppo Find X8 Pro which is similar spec wise and has an international release. These have the Dimensity 9400 which looks very good. Both will have an ultra version which is China exclusive.
Others include the One Plus 13, yet to be announced Xiaomi 15 Ultra, and Huawei Pura 70.
@Caped Baldy: There are rumours that Samsung is looking to include a similar 200MP periscope camera in the S26U/S27U.
@bogan: That's good to see but looks like the development has stagnanted since their key targets don't have much competition from the Chinese phones.
Two more years for the s27u is a long wait.
Don't forget about the exrra perks ¬ free spyware and adware on those phones too
I got it pm me if you are interested
Did we miss the boat on this?
If you cancel how much is the final total we are paying for S25 Ultra?
Can the $200 jb hifi pre order discount be used with this deal to bring the cost to $336?
YES IVE UPDATED THE DEAL. Such a gooood deal :)))
Where can I sign up the pre order discount?
So final total is $1336 ($536 + $800). Thanks OP.
Its 536 for s25
800 for s25+Not if you're cancelling the plan, which is $800 ontop, right?
Sorry but is it the GALAXY2025 or different code?
Pre order price is 2137
-1700
-200 (if it works for buying on plan)800 plus 237
1037 for ultra
Coupon doesnt work for me when trying to preorder online.
Anyone had the same issue?
@mikey43: You might need to ask on chat or in person. AFAIK the "code" everyone keeps talking about is GALAXY2025 from Samsung and won't work on JB website
show them the $200 preorder code they should give you the further discount
@mikey43: Ah I see. Then it'll just be JB system not updated to accept the code. All you can do now is wait it out.
Sorry for the newbie questions as I have not done any pre order phone.
After pre-ordering, when can we get the phone?
When will the mobile plan starts (starting to charge $99)
We assume the mobile plan is cancelled on Telstra website. After that, who will charge us the $800?Thanks in advance.
After pre-ordering, when can we get the phone?
Phone release date 14th Feb. JB will contact you when it is ready for pick up.
When will the mobile plan starts (starting to charge $99)
The same day you sign up.
We assume the mobile plan is cancelled on Telstra website. After that, who will charge us the $800?
You will get a telstra bill for the $800.
@CodeXD: Thanks for the info.
May I know the timing of the cancelation? e.g. cancel right after sign up, after the phone has been collected? Thanks again.
@G-rig: @G-rig
Thanks for the explanation. Yes, I did not read all the thread as it is too long. It would be nice its on WiKi.Does it mean I should only cancel the mobile plan after the phone has been collected (6th Feb)? or I can cancel it right away.
Thanks again for the reply.
@G-rig: What I am afraid of is that if the plan is cancelled before the phone is collected, it might void the contract, and the phone can no longer be collected.
@G-rig: Hey! I just tried cancelling via Telstra app but in response I got an agent telling I should do it through my old provider? (For reference I haven't activated my Sim card yet and my plan is not showing up in the Telstra app. I transfered a coles prepaid number). What should I do? Thanks! (Noob as well here)
How will you use samsung code with Jb Hi-Fi? Just curious as I have the code too and this seems a really good deal.
Edit: Got it!How did you get the code?
@G-rig: There was a lot of confusion about what the code is this morning. That was my comment and what triggered someone to reply saying $200 coupon is from JB for pre registering.
People are commenting asking for the code from those who did sign up
never heard anyone getting their first month refunded, any tips?
I feel shy to ask cancel at first month. I wonder how it works
i think u can use their live chat
Dont be shy
Just let your feelings roll on by…
You get on your hands and knees and beg for dear life. I’ve gotten it refunded multiple times.
lol can i hire u to beg for me?
Yes, $99
Are there some deals like this around for iPhone :)
No.
Would this not apply? It's from the T&Cs for the $99 plan
Voucher Repayment Fee
6.2 If you received a JB Hi-Fi Voucher when you purchased your Mobile Service and you cancel
that Mobile Service within any applicable Voucher Term, you must pay us the outstanding
amounts for the JB Hi-Fi Voucher you received for the cancelled Mobile Service (the Voucher
Repayment Fee).
6.3 The Voucher Repayment Fee is a pro-rata amount, equal to the total amount of the base
Voucher divided by 24 and multiplied by the months (or part months) remaining in your
Voucher Term. For example, if received a voucher with a 24-month Voucher Term, then in:
(a) Month 1: You will need to repay 23/24 of the Voucher you received;
(b) Month 12: You will need to repay 11/24 of the Voucher you received; and
(c) Month 23: You will need to repay 1/24 of the Voucher you received. It certainly seems that way, from the site :
The $1700 off the purchase price of a Samsung Galaxy Ultra phone(referred to as the “JB Hi-Fi Voucher” in the Telstra Terms and Conditions…
Right? Straight off the JB site. Seems pretty risky
The $1700 off the purchase price of a Samsung Galaxy Ultra phone(referred to as the "JB Hi-Fi Voucher" in the Telstra Terms and Conditions and replacing the dollar value of the Voucher in the Critical Information Summary) will be applied to the purchase price of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra phone and available to you instore after connection approval by Telstra. If you cancel or move to a lower cost/different plan then you must pay a Voucher Repayment Fee to Telstra pro-rated against the remaining months of your plan's minimum term.
@G-rig: I sold a S24U 256gb in excellent condition very recently but before S25 launch for $1k on marketplace. Great price given I bought it on preorder and got the Samsung watch too.
Curious to know as well. Does anybody know if this is same terms as previous deal where max $800 is payable?
Nope, JB seems to have updated the policy. The payable seems to be $1,700 for cancellation.
Telstra website still says 800 on CIS. Guess Jb just changed theirs
@niggardly: Yes you can cancel with Telstra. All JB does is sign up your email address and phone number onto telstra. So you'll have telstra log in and password etc to cancel directly.
Looks the same as when I did it for the Pixel 9 pro XL preorder and had no problems. The maximum voucher repayment fee of $800 is still in the critical information summary and overrides the terms and conditions you have here.
So the calculation actually ends up a bit different than what op posted. If you have to pay for the first month you pay ((23/24) * $800) + $237 = $1003.67.
You would pay the full 800 if you manage to cancel without paying the first month. I've seen this work if you schedule a date for it to start in the future and cancel before it starts.
So what's the best way to do this? Set the start to Feb 23 and cancel today? Then total would be $237 + $800 = $1037?
I never did it myself but have a look at the pixel 9 pro XL deal for some discussion on it.
I think it somewhat depends who you get in the store. It seemed silly to me at the time that my plan started immediately even though the phone didn't come out for another week. So I think it would just be a matter of convincing the person at JB hi Fi to have it take effect later. Maybe tell them you want it to align with your current plan expiring.
Edit: oh also my calculation in my previous comment needs +$99 for the first month if that's the way you go so just over $1100 total.
@EBC: And just to confirm, you cancelled via Telstra right? JB HiFi won't suddenly charge you the remaining $1700 - $800 = $900?
@marshmall0w2: I am pretty sure I called the number from the JB Hi Fi app. But that number takes you to a Telstra rep. Honestly it shouldn't matter because the JB Mobile plans are entirely managed by Telstra and subject to the Telstra CIS. Also once you sign up it should say in the app (it may take a day or two) the cost to cancel the plan somewhere. Mine said $800 after the plan was active.
No trade in bonus?
Has anyone got a $200 pre order bonus to see if it stacks as well?
It's 200 off RRP plus 200 pre-order bonus coupon so your getting 512gb for 1937. I just tested it
Sucks about the s pen nerf
Yep. But as it’s a mobile phone plan deal you have to do it in person. I’m sure if you show them your code they should discount it by that $200 though.
Yeah the email says show the coupon in person in the store. It's the email with this deal so it should work fine
When did you get the coupon? I remember signing up for the preorder but didn't get any code. I just remember it said I would get the code as soon as the phone went on sale.
Got jb voucher just in the last 30 mins
Just waiting for bonus trade in from JB… Have a pixel 8 to get rid of
How do I get the 200$ voucher?
Did you pre register? Check your inbox
I see I did not pre register for it, missed that
i did but still no email for me
Same
I registered but didn't get any email
If you already have a phone to trade just wait for a good Samsung trade in deal.
I have switch phones every 2 years for only $200-300 each time.Out of topic the biggest improvements unfortunately is a new battery. They seem to degrade very quickly!
The rest doesn't evolve very quickly.Typically how long do you have to wait for a good deal? Isn't it usually the release date that's got the best deal?
Yeah best deal is usually around release.
I've got the S20 FE 5G and was hoping the S24 Ultra would be a better price by now but it's still extremely high.
I've never traded in and didn't know they did good trade-in offers. Will a trade-in offer only apply to the S25s (as opposed to the S24 Ultra I'm looking for)?
I can't remember, I've always only bought the more recent phone.
I guess this does not apply to numbers already with JB mobile. I really need to port out asap
Just get an aldi $5 sim port out, then port back in when you sign up to the deal hehe
Do you know if you need to be ported out for a certain time for this to work?
Currently with Telstra and looking to use one of the JB deals but I've previously seen people talk about having to be ported out for 30 days or a full billing cycle for it to work.
Curious to know this as well. Do they strictly enforce the 30-day rule? Any experiences?
Just buy a $10 kogan starter sim and port that
Yeah, it's (profanity) annoying. I'm with JB on a SIM-only plan and I feel like I get penalised by them as a result. Like yeah, I could 'port' a $5 SIM over to them but why not just make this offer available to everyone?
Will it affect your credit history if you cancel the plan with JB after a month or so?
Not if it’s your first time
Not sure why the downvotes on very valid question. It DOES impact credit score and that's based on my firsthand experience. Had bought S24 Ultra in Dec last year and score tanked 49 points! Raised with concern credit bureau company to check why such drastic reduction with telstra credit inquiry and response was that it's valid reduction and nothing can be done. This is with ilion and will be checking experian tomorrow and will get to know how much is the dent.
Thanks mate.
@bhavesh8sep So did it affect your credit score?
@G-rig: Im not buying it. I was just curious how much it might affect the score for other reasons so no, i cant do a rating before and after.
@8azinga: Tanked by 49 points in illion but still in excellent. No impact on Equifax band and still in excellent(wouldn't know if score got reduced as not subscribed for that as it's paid). And no impact on score in experian.
@BluebirdV: Just one credit inquiry will not cause significant dent for your home loan application, as banks check holistic score when you apply for the same. Banks are interested in knowing where you stand in respect of score and if you are on border and this kind of credit inquiry pushes you to lower band then it surely affects.
@BluebirdV: Below is equifax credit bureau bands. Illion and experian have their own bands. You can check where you stand in all these three bureaus. You can get free reports every three months.
Excellent: 853 - 1200
Very Good: 735 - 852
Good: 661 - 734
Average: 460 - 660
Below Average: 0 - 459
I didn't get any promo code despite of signing up? How it reads like?
same. maybe a 1st day backlog
I signed up for preorder bonus a while ago but nothing received.
Are there any more links that are still live regarding these voucher codes?
Is it a generic voucher or a standard voucher?
https://ctrk.klclick1.com/l/01JGYYPG18FZ1FAZHZ8EZAKVWG_4
The above is the JBHIFI email
and the Samsung one doesn't seem to work and redirect to the home page so was curious if anyone has any live links
Yeh I received my exclusive eVoucher $20 that I paid for. Never received the $200. Whats the title of the email?
Samsung's Galaxy2025 is the code for $200 discount. Jb hifi one for pre-registration was a unique one came via email.
So the plan is to go to a JB store, sign up for the S25 ultra plan + show the Galaxy2025 code, get the phone and then a week later cancel via live chat? Any tip for the cancellation conversation?
Nice question, really needed someone expert answer to it
My friend contacted their support chat and complained about the lack of reception.
Good idea. I genuinely have no coverage when parking at local shopping center with network other than Telstra
They are not gonna check, to avoid unnecessary troubleshooting bs in the chat, just say that you don’t get any coverage at home, even though you got perfect coverage with your previous network provider.
Hi, I would like to cancel my plan please. I'm an Ozbargain professional.
After signing up,simply port out to another network and plan will be automatically cancelled. Alternative jump on JB Hifi App and cancel via chat
Then you will be contacted via email/sms to pay the cancellation charge I guess?
Yes
This deal is for port in number only.
Title is misleading - needs to be corrected
Can you/anyone please let me know where it's known that the max cancellation fee is $800?
Doesn't say $800. Says this instead:
What happens when I cancel my plan early?
You’ll need to repay Telstra for any vouchers you received when you purchased your plan. The Voucher Repayment Fee (if applicable) is pro-rated, equal to the total amount of the base voucher divided by 24 and multiplied by months (or part months) remaining in your plan term.@jimojr: Except that from the JB HiFi site it says
referred to as the "JB Hi-Fi Voucher" in the Telstra Terms and Conditions and replacing the dollar value of the Voucher in the Critical Information Summary
@marshmall0w2: It replaces the voucher amount (which is standard as $800 in the CIS) but it doesn't replace the "Maximum voucher repayment fee" which is listed just after.
I believe it's under "Maximum Voucher Repayment Fee", in this case it would be under the "Premium" column.
@LostyJai: Does this only apply to Telstra customers with no new account? Can you create a new account?
New to this. (new to the country as well).
How can I actually cancel this with paying this fee ?Here we go again
I haven't have my coffee yet
Listed price of 2137- 1700 = 437? Before the pre register coupon.
Thats how i see it.
Just need to confirm if JB will accept the $200 coupon when pre ordering with $99 plan.If they do its a deal and a half
Oh man, I’ll update it haha. I think my lack of coffee did damage to my maths.
All good mate, It just turn out to be a better deal than expected!
Finger cross that they accept the pre register coupon! They absolutely will accept that imo it was plastered all over their Samsung page for the past week or so. In comments above someone said in the email you have to show in person if you do in store.
The terms have changed since previous deals. Do not assume the cancellation cost will be $800
The $1700 off the purchase price of a Samsung Galaxy Ultra phone(referred to as the "JB Hi-Fi Voucher" in the Telstra Terms and Conditions and replacing the dollar value of the Voucher in the Critical Information Summary) will be applied to the purchase price of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra phone and available to you instore after connection approval by Telstra. (c) Month 23: You will need to repay 1/24 of the Voucher you received. Please put a warning, in case people get caught out by this
@G-rig: So what do you do if the staff tells you it's $1700? How do you argue it should only be $800 max repayment?
@marshmall0w2: You dont need to argue with the staff. Just say yes to everything to get the phone and leave the store. When you cancel, you are contacting their cancelation team (not in store) and it'll be 800
@niggardly: Are you sure? JB HiFi T&C's say
referred to as the "JB Hi-Fi Voucher" in the Telstra Terms and Conditions and replacing the dollar value of the Voucher in the Critical Information Summary
So the $800 is replaced by $1700
@G-rig: Yeah the staff told me that when I got my S24 FE and I just got home and cancelled via mobile app chat.
@G-rig: I read it won't be available before Feb so not sure if stores have any demo phones. I will go find out today
Dont open the box if full fee return it.
really? will they give the 1700+200 in voucher form? and the other $237/437 gets credited back to the payment method?
Where are they different?
Max repayment fee is still $800 when i looked
Where does it say max is $800?
I'm reading this

Apologies everyone my bad maths after sipping my morning coffee it’s even cheaper it’s actually $237. also admin feel free to edit update deal .
Mate. What is the $200 code you keep talking about?
Pre register with jb and they sent out a $200 coupon
Damn, was it ever posted on ozb that JB is giving out $200 for preorder?
@CodeXD: yes, they did, I can't find it though. It wasn't the main deal listed, it was listed in the description.
this is different from the samsung pre-register? might explain why im not seeing anything, but confused with the comments as some are implying the samsung code will also work
@perfectlydark: What annoys me the most is any of the people who signed up could have posted the deal but no one did.
@CodeXD: yeah. im gonna try with my samsung code (assuming it arrives soon) but to be honest $437 is pretty good as is, but cheaper is better. I might even stay with the plan for a bit, not much more than my ripoff optus plan and much better all around. oh an i can trade in my damaged s22 for $113 apparently, since im not even handing this one down might as well
it you cancel or move to a lower cost different plan then you must pay a Voucher
Repayment Fee to Telstra pro-rated against the remaining months of your plan's
• This offer is not available in conjunctionIf I want to get the 25+ (not ultra) on the plan and then cancel, will it still be $800 + $99 (First month phone plan)?
Does anyone have the previous T&C from these sorts of plans? I recall that they had said something similar but then Telstra still has the $800 cancellation fee!
Was the $200 discount code issued by Samsung or JB?
Samsung and the code is: " GALAXY 2025"
Website link CLEARLY states the $1700 voucher will be pro-rata against remaining months 1700/24 * 23 = $1629.17.
Don't fall for the incorrect info.
This, it clearly states the $1700 voucher replaces the voucher fee in the CIS
Where does it state that the $1700 replaces CIS voucher fee?
Edit found it:
referred to as the "JB Hi-Fi Voucher" in the Telstra Terms and Conditions and replacing the dollar value of the Voucher in the Critical Information Summary
Actually nvm, I don't know the pdf still states $800 maximum repayment
@ubiq: The Telstra still states $800 maximum voucher repayment, but JB HiFi overrules this clearly on their T&C's by stating their $1700 voucher replaces the voucher value of Telstra.
@marshmall0w2: they are very sneaky saying "replaces the dollar amount of the voucher", they can always say the replacement applies everytime voucher is cited including maximum "voucher" repayment
@lawyerz: What does this mean? The voucher value is now JB HiFi's $1700 but the max repayment for cancellation is still $800?
@marshmall0w2: it means profanity these companies for making people jump through hoops just to buy these phones at a reasonable price.
@lawyerz: It says $800 max repayment on a $800 voucher, clearly if the voucher is $1700, then that condition would not apply.
Go ahead if you are keen, I'll save my money.
The term and condition pdf on JB Hi-Fi says that it was last updated on 02 JULY 2024. So this trick should be fine.
But do we cancel the plan before the phone is delivered on 14th February? Is there any risk with delivery if plan has been cancelled.I suspect they won't port the number until you've actually received the phone. Best to confirm with JB staff.
So confused - how do you get this extra $200 off? Link?
Apparently had to pre-register before the unpacked to get the code today. I've never heard of it until today :(
Well count me out then….. I’ll just wait another year! Not like phones are seeing big improvements anymore.
Compare to RRP, fat margin on these phones.
Isn't the $200 already factored in the pre-order price of $2,137 vs $2,337 price after pre-orders end….!!!!!
No. It stacks so 1937 for 512GB
Correct it stacks. Just called local JB
a totally different code
No it's highly unlikely you can use a Samsung voucher on jbhifi
Am I in the minority in saying that paying $99 per month for a phone+ plan is ludicrous in 2025 unless your work is paying for it?
The trick is to cancel it and pay the $800 fee.
TiL
But just to be sure, it turns out thats not the case anymore right? They've updated the terms so now the max cancellation fee is the entire voucher. So $1700 in this case.
If only there was a additional trade in discount for my s24 ultra
Horribly misleading title. It's $237 with an asterisk, ignores cancellation fees, or you need to pay ongoing monthly fee which makes it at least $1100.
Use the Samsung Galaxy Pre-Order Code Request megathread if you're after the $200 discount code. No requests in comments please
So the total cost of the phone if I sign up to this plan and cancel on first day will be $1,136, or $1037 if I can get first months charge refunded? Does this include the $200 off preorder voucher?
need someone to sign up and check the CIS
Last year i tried to get extra discount on the plan but was knocked back. I was trying to price match and was told you can add any extra discounts on this plan. So the 200 extra might not work.
Can I use JB gift card to pay? Thank you for answering.
To pay for the $437 / $237, yes you can.
Is ALDI the best sim to port to first if already with Telstra?
I'm currently on the Telstra Goodguys plan. Has anyone tried porting directly to JB Mobile without switching to Aldi or other providers first? Is it possible?
If you are currently on Telstra, you need to be off the network for 30 days before porting back in.
It shows in the system when the number was ported out. Thanks for the reply. It is not direct telstra, but goodguys mobile without any telstra plus, similar to jbmobile or Aldi which runs on telstra network..Would that 30 days be still applicable?
When would you plan to cancel this? Before you receive the phone? Or wait until you receive the phone and then cancel as soon as you physically receive it?
Cancel the plan as soon as you ported or walk out of JB store.
If you wait until u get the phone then u will pay $99 first month
If you sign up today, will service be activated today and phone will come later? I think phones will arrive in Feb, so first month's payment may not get refunded
Just received jb $200 voucher
Did you sign up to the marketing email today?
Last week.
Me too thought i wouldn't get it. But still dont know it will work with this
JB updated the repayment fee after the cancellation; I guess it's not a very good deal.
$237 + $99 + $1,629-ish
link? where did they even pull the $1629 from lol
This has been the same set of T&Cs + CIS for years. In previous deals it was overridden by the "Maximum voucher repayment fee" in the CIS.
This part of the T&Cs defines how the voucher repayment fee is calculated, but it doesn't alter how the "Maximum voucher repayment fee" is calculated. So if the voucher is $800 or more, it has met/exceeded the maximum and is therefore capped at $800. Then that $800 is used as the "Voucher repayment fee" to do the calculations for the section of the T&Cs you have posted.
As far as I can tell it has been working this way for several years. Granted it is very confusing but I haven't seen a single instance where it hasn't worked this way in any of the previous deals.
For the record I did this last year for the Pixel 9 Pro XL with no issues.
So if we were to cancel, we need to pay the full voucher back which is 1700?
waiting on Telstra CIS.
I feel really dumb for asking how all this works.
So do I go into jb to port in my number.
Preorder the phone online.
When I get phone when do I cancel out of $99 plan?
So how much will I have to pay out right?
Cheers. You go into store and do the connection and then order it at the counter, or online, the choice is yours.
Refuse to buy, let the prices keep dropping. Tech is pretty good, go midrange phone.
@Mattycee and when do I cancel plan and how much will I have to pay?
The S25 Ultra its hardly an upgrade over the S24. Same camera and ram, if anything reduced spen features.
Only ai. But no one uses that feature.
Already have Telstra number and want to keep my number
Have to port out to another provider and then port back to Telstra?Or do I start a new plan and then switch my current number to this?
Can someone enlighten me whether the s25 Ultra, s25+ and s25 are with Snapdragon or Exynos? Or the Ultra is Snapdragon only but s25+ and s25 are with Exynos? Thanks.
All models have Snapdragon.
sorry so what is the latest total cost after cancellation ?
OK this might be a silly question but im not seeing anywhere that contradicts, so would like advice.
Does the $1100 voucher for signing up to the $99 plan stack with the $1700 off the phone or does the $1700 replace that? EDIT: im dumb, no it doesnt stack and its clear in the T&CAnyone bought it and cancelled? There seems to be some debate on the min voucher repayment fees.
I signed up same deal for P9PXL and we had a similar debate. Was charged $800 cancellation fee and NOT $1,700
Was that done recently
Oct 2024 when P9PXL was released
Simple Question: how much it would go out of my pocket.! When I pick up phone.! I don’t have code and if I canceled straight away.!
Plus the $767 termination fee
@G-rig: He said if he cancelled straight away…
If they don't activate the sim until Feb 15 then he skips the first month $99 but the termination will be full $800.
If they activate it asap then he pays $767 on termination and $99 for first month which can be refunded by telstra.
@G-rig: When I signed up for P9PXL deal, $99 was deducted upfront plus $767 cancellation fee that was billed a week later after cancellation
@G-rig: $99 first month fee + $437 if no voucher + cancellation fee of $767 billed later.
Some were not charged $99 first month fee upfront, and were able to save that too but hit and miss.
apparently the s-pen doesnt have bluetooth anymore and cant do remote camera shutter. i never knew it did now i kind i wish it had it lol
Why dont you just raise your hand when you are in feame
So if you cancel, the total you pay is $1700 voucher + $437 cost (without code) + $99 monthly fee (if not waived)? $2136 total payment?
So we have to pay $1700 for cancellation?
So $1,700 replaces the dollar value of the Voucher ($800) in the Critical Information Summary, but it does not replace the Maximum Voucher Repayment Fee ($800).
If you cancel, you must pay back the pro-rata amount of the Voucher ($1,700) for any remaining period (24 months). However, this is capped at $800.
So if I wanted to get the S25 Ultra 1tb for $2537.00, the following would apply:
$2537 - $1,700 - $200 + $800 + $99 = $1,536.512 GB: $2,137 - $1,700 - $200 + $800 + $99 = $1,136
Thank you for making it super clear!
That's what I thought as well, but why did OP cross out the voucher repayment fee?
I didn’t. Admin did :/. I’m just going to leave this as it is let ppl do their own research. But in my opinion @Koipanda is correct it’s just a $800 voucher repayment fee. But you could wait and see other ppl response in coming days how it went with their signup.
This really doesn't make it much of a deal then.
So many hoops when you can just buy it from education store for same price.
crazy now we are in the days of preordering preorders
How can you access the education store if you no longer have access to your education email?
No that is not correct. I agree this is written deliberately vague to cause confusion and customers are likely to be caught out by these ambiguous terms.
In my opinion, if the $1700 replaces the dollar value of the voucher ($800) in the Critical Information Summary, then it is only logical to consider the $1700 must also apply to the Maximum Voucher Repayment Fee as well which is the same amount ($800). Otherwise this whole exercise of ''replacing the dollar value of the voucher in the CIS' is absolutely pointless.
Nope you're incorrect. If it's not stated, then it's not applicable. The T&C clearly refers to "Voucher" and not "Maximum Voucher Repayment Fee". A drafting mistake? Thats on JBHIFI, not the consumer.
Your comment makes no sense and you are just contradicting yourself. You read the T&C but choose to believe what's beneficial while ignoring the obvious. I really don't give a shit about you and whatever you do, but posting wrong information and intentionally misleading others. That is not right!!!
What I'll say again is JB has changed the T&C from previous $99 phone deals so the term 'Maximum Voucher Repayment Fee' is no longer black and white.
As a result, any reasonable person who reads the updated T&C would say if this states $1700 replaces the dollar value of the 'voucher' then the value of the Maximum 'voucher' Repayment Fee will also be replaced and will be $1700 instead. Now the 'seed' and the reason for JB / Telstra to charge the full $1700 is in place, when they will update their staff and implement these new terms is up to the discretion of JB management.
@G-rig: @G-rig It's clearly stated (under fine print) in your S25 pre-order email from JB this morning if you are a JB subscriber.
You didn't add $237 upfront
@Twix Can it be pinned at the top?
I can't pin comments as a Power User. I can only edit deals/competitions and mark them as expired/sold out.
Use the report button to ask a Moderator.
This is what should be in the main post for the deal.
Thanks for clarifying - makes it much easier to compare to buying direct from Samsung.
So what if i but 2 Aldi Sim,
sign up port in the number.
Get out of the store and port the number again to the 2nd Aldi Sim.The plan will be cancelled automatically right?
Genius!!!
Surely next telstra bill would include the ETC
Can somebody clarify whats the total fee please if you cancel it in the first month.
Too many discussionsIf anyone who already signed up and cancelled, can you please update how did it go with repayment fee?
This $1700 voucher only applies to the s25 series, right? Or can I use them to buy an S24 ultra?
$1100 voucher is the standard one that should apply
You can use the code with this. The code has nothing to do with JBHifi mobile or trade in offers as shown in that image. It’s a separate code JBHifi sent to people specifically for preordering s25 range.
Has anyone here actually done this TODAY in store and successfully cancelled the plan? How much were you charged in total?
Cancellation invoice comes in a week time after cancellation
If you cancel how much is the final total we are paying for S25 Ultra?
i did mine today (not planning on cancelling though). they did charge the first $99 today (plus the balance on the phone). so getting the $99 refunded might be a pain. I was directly handed the SIM also and they strongly encouraged me to put it in my phone while instore.
Given as above the cancellation doesnt seem worth it if you are up for the $1700 i think its a moot point anyway though, deal is good if you are happy with the plan, not if you dont want itnah its preordered, they will have it on release in Feb. with the SIM as my old service was cancelled they asked me to put it in my phone to 'verify' everything is ok so no hassles later. coming from an s22 its an upgrade for me, and needed due to my cracked screen
@G-rig: yeah, in hindsight theres no downside by waiting until day before release and doing the same thing.(risk of no stock? but probably not worth worrying about). If you dont want the plan I wouldnt bother, theres better ways to get the phone, i wouldnt trust this whole cancel/$800 thing
what does the paperwork say? was it $800 maximum voucher value or $1700?
i didnt look sorry. the link i have just goes to generic T&C's
https://www.telstra.com.au/help/critical-information-summari…
if that helps but given it references $800 voucher im not confident the maximum repayment fee applies
If my maths is right, the total price of phone comes up at $1037 assuming you cancel the phone plan and pay $800 charges to Telstra. How is this better deal than the one provided on Samsung portal for 512GB which comes down to same value (or lower if you use Edu/Gov portal)?
You can do trade in on regular website. Edu portal just have already discounted phone but yes you need edu email for it which I am also searching for!
It's $2149 on Samsung's website. How do you get $1037?
Sorry, this includes the prices after applying all the vouchers.
$100 voucher,
$400 trade in,
$200 free accessories,
5% app discount. After that it comes to about ~$1377 for S25U 512 GB (not including the trade in phone value). I quoted the original price after factoring trade in phone value.
Thanks that makes sense. I'm not going to do trade in and accessories so this JB deal is better for me.
S25 Ultra 1tb $2537 - $1,700 - $200 + $800 + $99 = $1,536.
512 GB: $2,137 - $1,700 - $200 + $800 + $99 = $1,136
So I'm currently on a JB phone plan that's out of contract from a previous deal.. Do they have deals for existing customers? If not then if I port out and port in how long do I have to wait?
This deal makes sense only if you cancel. So if you have to cancel, you can simply get a new number when you sign up for this deal and cancel it later.
So if you have to cancel, you can simply get a new number when you sign up for this deal and cancel it later.
This deal is port in only so you'll need to get a new number elsewhere (and obviously don't get a new telstra number lol)
No. Port IN or new customers. I signed up as a new customer and got a new number.
Anyone signed up yet and cancelled? Just wanted to know if u paid 1700 or 800.
Its 800. Confirmed with telstra live chat
wife has s22 ultra and loves to use s-pen to take selfies, they removed bluetooth from s-pen in this version. she was upset and i was happy that there will be less selfies
Don’t tell her the open hand trick
If you cancel how much is the final total we are paying for S25 Ultra?
The cancellation is $800 or $400 after 12 months. So total cost would be $1037.
Are you sure about $800, as there are other comments mentioning that cancellation of voucher is Pro-rata based i.e. if I cancel in first month, I will have to return $1700 of voucher?
$200 voucher is Galaxy2025 that JB accepted and reduced price by $200 or is it some JB's own voucher?
Anyone tried to get port in credit from Telstra yet?
Just ordered it. Can confirm the $200 voucher works, but be sure to tell them before they start processing it, there was a big (profanity) and they had to refund my order and start over because apparently it has to go through before they take the $1700 off.
Perfect.
So 237 out of pocket today?
Yep.
Bargain.
Plus $800 cancellation or $99x24 if not
@8azinga: Its less hope to get the $200, I might need to pay $437+99+800=1336. Maybe the Education route is less hoops: 1879.2 - 150 - 400 + 31 = 1360.2
Meh, exactly the same phone as last year, nothing new.
5 is new
Fair point.
No more Bluetooth Spen features on the s25 ultra
Hmmmm not saying this doesn't work as people seem very sure about it, but reading the voucher repayment clauses, it reads that if the voucher is $1700, then I'd repay 23/24th of the voucher if I cancelled after 1 month or the full $1700 if I cancelled right away. Ie. After 12 months, voucher repayment would be half of $1700 = $850.
What am I missing here?
Thank you, that's good to know
Champ.
Thx mate. Worked fine and appreciate it. Just worried that I sign up assuming that will be the case then suddenly, get a bill saying I owe $1700 or close to it based on what the term in the contract seems to state. LOL
Haha all good. Ive done it once before and had no issues!!
Youre buying the phone straight out, its not part of any plan or contract. Once its done its final. I did it this morning. The way they do it is that after you sign the contract, which is seperate from the phone, they give you a $1700 giftcard which you then use to buy the phone. Youre only liable for the plan, which if you cancel you have to pay $800.
Hey, I wonder if this offer is better than samsung website for those who doesnt have edu/epp access… Is it correct?
This one better if you got nothing to trade.
Even with the $400 trade in bonus I couldnt find it cheaper…
After I added all coupons:
Your $100 Galaxy eVoucher+ has been applied!
Voucher applied! $200 eVoucher discount.
Voucher applied! $400 Trade-In bonus.I got a total of $1632 for S25U 512 + Bud Pro 3
Returning the buds pro I believe I would refund $263…
So the phone itself would cost $ 1369… plus $60 adm fee for not returning the phone to a total of $1429….
I dont think it worth… I'll probably get this one from JB instead
I have access to epp but this was still a better deal for me. After all the discounts and trade ins it worked out for me on the samsung store to come down to about $600 + my S24 U. I paid $237 at JB and still have my S24 which Mobile Monster will give me $950 for, so even if I cancelled the JB plan and had to pay the $800 fee the new phone has only cost me $87.
You need to pay 1700 not 800 for plan cancellation
Thats not true. I have the contract in front of me. Its $800, decreasing each month you keep it. The $1700 isnt part of the contract, its just a regular giftcard they give you to buy the phone after you sign the contract.
@asc: It only says its relative to the length of your remaining contract, but JB told me that its $400 after 12 months so I can only assume it eventually goes to zero.
Glad to have sold the s23 ultra for $900 before Christmas. Samsung phone's value retention is a joke. The inflated pricing too.
Will we still get the phone even if we cancel the contact?
Yes, the phone isnt under part of the plan, youre buying it straight out.
We have till 13th feb to do this right.
So we can just keep the gift card and don't buy the phone? Or will they not give the gift card upfront?
Is the $200 code from JBHIFI or Samsung ?
jbhifi
okay thank you . that makes more sense. Because samsung has their own $200 one
From JBHIFI
As I understand, the $200 Code is from Samsung. The sign up code which comes in an email from Samsung. Please read OP’s post carefully.
Does anyone have a JB code for $200 off that they arent going to use?
Or is it easy for them to give it at the store upon request perhaps ?
I'd be interested in the JB code as well if you are not gonna use… I applied but never got the code
Can we still cancel if we have done this previously for the s24 ultra deal with jbhifi?
Can the $800 cancellation be paid using JB gift card?
No. The $800 is payment to Telstra
When signing up, $1700 gift card upfront or they leave it until the phone is released?
Crossed out $800 cancellation fee, is that mean didn't work anymore?
Can we get the updated information about it still being $800 maximum payment on the termination fee added again, it seems to be adding extra confusion in new comments with people thinking they will pay $1700.
would love to know as well! has anyone went in and asked a jb staff for confirmation? pretty confusing now, as apparently admin removed the voucher deal info? I looked back at the s24u deal a few months ago, the terms and conditions are the same as this one, as perhaps anyone who did that deal and cancelled, can share if they paid 800 or 1700?
Forgive me for my dumbness
I am currently with boost with one of those yearly recharge deals
If I port in from boost then cancel telstra can i get back on my boost plan?
No the boost plan will disappear
I'm thinking get an aldi sim port to telstra, port back to aldi
Cancel aldi and continue boost aha
You don't need to port back to aldi. Just get the aldi sim and register it with a new number. Place the aldi sim into your phone as they will send you codes to this number. Once signed up, just cancel through chat and Put back your boost sim.
Just did this today.
Hi I just ordered s25 ultra 256 GB for 947.60$.
Applied 20% employee discount
400$ trade in bonus
100$ voucher
200$ GLAXY2025 voucher for case, screen protector and galaxy buds . Planning to return galaxy buds so I will be getting for phone with case and protector for 780$Hello arjun1985,
How did you got it 947.60$? s25 ultra 256 GB is not available for order.
Looks like you ordered the phone through Samsung not through jbhifi? The $100 and $200 vouchers you mentioned are not applicable at jbhifi
I spoke to my local JB. They transferred me to the local Telco manager. He confirmed that the cancellation is a maximum of $800. Unfortunately he wasn't able to find any mention or offer the extra $200 discount. I had mentioned I had the Samsung coupon for it.
So according to him, the total cost would be $437 (phone) + $99 (first month) + $800 (cancellation) = $1,336.
For me, I'll be trying to go Samsung EDU route as it'll be a little cheaper plus free accessories.
If anyone could share how they were able to acquire the extra $200 discount, that would be great. Thanks!
Had to register with JB a week or 2 ago
I think that was the code sent to users who signed up from email sent by Jb hifi about S25 launch. Is there any other code?
Sorry, where are people getting the $400 trade in bonus from? Samsung website is only giving me trade in value of $450 for my pixel 8 pro, no additional $400 bonus.
Ask Samsung live chat for it or use Samsung Members app and get it there. You'll get an extra 5% off using Samsung Shop app (Android) too.
Just tried the members app, there's no trade in bonus there.
You had to register
Sorry, register for what? I registered for the galaxy unpacked event, but all that's given me is a $200 off voucher for accessories.
Hi all sorry I forgot to mention I am trading iPhone 11 128gb for 160$. so finally I will be getting for 940$
thank you for clarification. That's number make sense. cheers!
How to return once I received the galaxy buds and get refund ? Please guide
Create a return by going into your order details and look for return option.
Assuming you want to return for a refund? Does Samsung offer a full refund or a voucher for future purchases?
Can anyone confirm, if i port to Optus today, can i get this tomorrow? I'm with Telstra currently. I actually want to keep the phone and plan.
Just keep trying with other JB rep. Even though its true that you're supposedly to be away for 30days from Telstra network, its not enforced within the system. Some JB employee doesn't really care
Does anyone think this will be released next week for anyone who pre-ordered? I'm heading overseas for a couple of weeks and want to get the GST off as well.
How much gst can one claim if you pay only a few hundred dollars for the phone?
The invoice shows the full amount
Release date is 14th Feb.
only up to 900 yer?
Does the port in number have to be on the same name as the invoice? I want the invoice on my name and port a family member's number.
While this deal will work, you can get a cheaper price direct and simpler outright from Samsung with some creative code stacking over at https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/890072. Westpac Rewards has Samsung EPP 15%. Education EPP has 20%. Others like gov or certain companies have Samsung EPP stores too.
I calculate my s25ultra 512gb to be $1,020 delivered direct from Samsung. You can get it even cheaper, about $135 cheaper if you have access to the education epp. I paid $1170 outright for s25 ultra 512gb which included a silicone case and galaxy buds3 as well, I'm gonna cancel or return the $200 accessories, and then get hit with the $30 no-show trade in so it's $1,020 incl the evoucher in #4 below.
The TLDR
1) start wth EPP store (westpac rewards has 15% discount, otherwise education store has 20%). I only have a Westpac debit/transaction account. First shop on the EPP also has an additional 5% discount applied automatically.2) call in or chat request Samsung for the $400 trade in bonus code. They're giving it out freely over the chat or phone. Phone was instantly answered. They basically offered it to me, barely had to ask.
3) additional $150 trade in bonus is automatic
4) last day to buy the $20 evoucher link that's worth $100. Takes half a day to arrive (says up to 72hrs on FAQ). Took hours just to get the order confirmation email. Can be used for $100 value until 13th Feb.
5) either actually trade in your old phone or just choose a cheap phone and mark it as broken to bring the value down to $1, and don't actually trade it in. You will get charged $30 fee ($60 if you don't mark the phone as broken as part of the checkout process) The trade in bonuses will still apply. Weirdly they charge you the value of this trade in ($1 in my case), presumably to hold you to actually trade in your phone. They also took ID details and mobile phone number as part of the trade in process which I wasn't a fan of.
6) $200 worth of accessories with the code GALAXY2025 which can be returned (or cancelled) like in previous years.
Much prefer this approach than to go in store, wait around to sign up for a 2 year plan and then cancel afterwards which I've done before
I can't get my cart to go in that cheap
EPP for S25U 512gb $1879.20
Trade in bonus - $150
CMP code for trade in -$400
Spend $20 to get $100 off -$80
not sending in phone/trade in +$31
= $1280.20Galaxy2025 for $200 worth of accessories
+/- $200Net price still $1280.20 if I get exactly $200 worth of accessories, what am I missing?
JB hifi price
S25U 512gb
$237(with voucher)
+$800 break contract
+99 first money if not refunded(I've had success with this in past)
totals $1136
with potential to be;
$213.3 (10% off jb gift card to pay the $237)
$800 break contract
Refunded $99
= $1013.30Reckon it's the additional 5% for 'first' order that's automatically applied when I click through from Westpac EPP.
I'm also assuming I'm going to return the $200 of accessories which you should factor in for a like for like comparison. Theres also no guarantee you'll get the first month refunded $99, I couldn't get that last time. Seems to be on the whim on which agent answers your calls.
I didn't factor in any discounted jbhifi gift cards to pay the $237 either so there's that.
But yeah it's close either way. The lesser of two inconveniences for me is the Samsung way I guess.
If I to open a Westpac account tomorrow, how long I can access the Samsung EPP?
Can I confirm what the price of the s25u 512gb assuming I open a westpac account jsut for this purpose, would I get the 15% + 5% as a 1st time user? Is it $1879?
How do you cancel/return the accessories and what value do you get for it? A $200 refund as store credit? Or discount on the phone?
@Perennial: yeah $1879 for 512gb.
https://www.pictr.com/images/2025/01/23/xpo4JO.png there's an option to partially cancel the order i haven't tried.
You should be able to return for free as well for cash refund.
@lawyerz: Thanks. Have you succesfully returned free products for cash before? It sounds a little strange that they would refund products purchased by the voucher for cash? Do you post it back or return it at a samsung store?
@Perennial: Despite the voucher conditions, the voucher is applied to the whole order and not just the accessories specifically. The reason this works is that while in the checkout the discount appears to apply equally to all products, but in the invoice, the products appear as full price with a separate line item at the bottom for discounts.
I have no experience in the return process so cant answer your other questions as this is my first samsung phone since s6. You can read the comments thread over in https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/890072 and for the s24 ultra last year as well - lots of people did them last year and this year the customer support seem to confirm you can just return it again as well.
edit: I have JUST cancelled one of my 2 accessories linked to the phone without issues. I cancelled the galaxy buds 3 which was $170, My total now shows $1000. You have to leave at least ONE accessory in the order or it'll auto select the phone to cancel as well.
@lawyerz: Hey, almost there! when were you removing the accesories from the cart? before or after payment?
Everytime i try to do it beforehand it cancels the evoucher and i lose the discount
@Perennial: after. and you might need to wait until you get the order confirmation email which might take a few hours.
@lawyerz: Didn't work, got some error. Strange as I accidentally bought an extra case and was well above the $200 even without it. I cant remove anything
Called support and they said only option is to cancel the order entirely. Seem to think anyone who was able to done it on a glitch and they fixed it
@lawyerz: If you ordered directly through Samsung, were you able to return any accessories after they were delivered? Samsung chat support informed me that returns are not possible, stating: "Since you got this device for a discounted price, we really cannot do a partial return or replacement."
@EssendonUser: I ordered directly and managed to cancel the accessories I didn't want. So I didn't go down the return route. They probably closed the loophole. My final price $1020.
@andylch: The s25u was only released in 2025.. so yes? You should try the return route again with a diff agent
@lawyerz: The problem now is that they already shipped the accessories to me. Not sure still can return them at their store.
@andylch: Oh gosh you haven't received it yet? Then chill a bit..get it then just go through the normal process of a return either in store or online.
https://www.samsung.com/au/shop-faq/returns-and-cancellation…
If I select trade in my galaxy watch 4 for a discount of $10, which will give me additional $150 discount and apply the CMP code for trade in $400 ($10+$150+$400=$560 discount). When "not sending the watch back", which Samsung might charge me $60. Will Samsung also revert the $150 and $400 discount on top of the $10 trade in watch cost (-$60 - $10 - $150 - $400 = $620) ? Will they black list me for any future trade in?
It would be nice to get some info from the buyers who have this experience.
Thanks
Should make a thread with these steps +++
I dont how its gonna work with me. Dont have edu acc :(Neither do I. Open a TXN account at Westpac.
Westpac Rewards get you EPP access albeit at a lower rate.
i opened a westpac life and choice account.will they gibe me access?
Hey mate. for point 5) how did you choose cheap phone? I have samsung s21 ultra for $240 trade-in value but I dont want to send that phone..i read it somewhere that for trade-in it asks for phone IMEI number so how will I give the detail of any cheap phone if I dont have any..pls explain
i just googled [phone name] imei generator to get an imei.
i picked some random phone i didn't have.
Hi, could you please tell us that how to cancel.
I found my order and on the top it is written Cancel Order.
But if I will click on that Cancel order button, it will cancel entire order or it will give us the option to select the item which we need to cancel?I will appreciate if you will guide.
Thank you
If you click cancel order a 2nd pop up screen will appear letting you choose what to cancel. I have NOT yet cancel so have no experience yet. Other comments on the other ozb posts https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/890072 says itll return an error and that customer support says can't cancel part order anymore but to just return after receiving it.
I feel like I don't wanna risk mucking up the order or something so returning after seems like a much safer option
Update: I have just cancelled one of my 2 accessories linked to the phone without issues. I cancelled the galaxy buds 3 which was $170, My total now shows $1000. You have to leave at least ONE accessory in the order or it'll auto select the phone to cancel as well.
Hopefully my last question for you, just trying to cancel my accessory now.
Is this the same page you had when you went to cancel yours? I'm too scared that clicking "confirm cancellation" will cancel the whole order.
https://pictr.com/image/xpcXpl
Will it lead to another screen to cancel part of the order?
Thank you so much again, you've been so helpful!
@tsuitenaishoujo: Oh no. You can't cancel until you receive the email order confirmation email. Do it tmr.
IT will look like this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/16196200/redir from the 'orders' page
@lawyerz: Hi again, just tried cancelling the accessories again, but when I clicked on "Cancel Order" the screen is still the same as last time, https://pictr.com/image/xpcXpl even though the current status is Awaiting Dispatch.
Should I proceed with "Confirm Cancellation" and will the next page let me cancel individually, or has Samsung got onto this and done a fix to prevent cancellation of accessories?
@tsuitenaishoujo: It doesn't work anymore. Just hope you can return the accessory after you receive it otherwise sell it on fb marketplace.
@tsuitenaishoujo: yeah probably doesnt work anymore, either keep them, sell, or return it after. I cancelled but still havent receivd my refund yet and hoping it come through.
Well, just got the phone today. I tried the online return of accessories, there was not return button as stated so I contact chat support. They said since it's a promotional bundle, it's not eligible to return. Should I go to the physical store and try walk in return?
@frank1989: sorry to hear they closed the loophole.. time to sell it on fb marketplace or ebay then.
@lawyerz: All good.. happy with this deal and love the new phone. Gonna sell the buds on marketplace.
Does yr westpac debit card get you 15% off at EPP store?
Well I only have a debt card only for Westpac and I got 15%+5% EPP store. Can only speak from my experience.
thanks ill try opening an account and see how i go
Thank you so much for the step-by-step process, my brain really needs this.
Just wondering if I could also add the Samsung pre-order $200 voucher with your method above or will it clash with the GALAXY2025 code?TIA
The galaxy2025 code is the $200 Samsung pre order voucher and only applies when accessories are added to the cart. You'll need to add accessories in exceeding $200, then cancel or return them later.
Ahh thank you, that makes sense!
Sorry for being such a noob, this is my first time doing this stacking pre-order thing.
I'm having a hard time getting the trade in showing as $1, I couldn't find anywhere to mark the device as broken.
Am I missing something? Also, is there a reason why you've marked it to $1?
@tsuitenaishoujo: Keep going through the checkout, it's at a later stage of the checkout with a series of questions about your trade in device.
If you DONT intend to trade anything in, you mark it down to $1 because they will CHARGE you the value of the trade in, and then discount it back at the final checkout.
This stops people from claiming they have a iPhone 16 pro max worth $900+ to trade in, have that $900 deducted from the final checkout price, then bail on them.
@lawyerz: Thank you so much, finally found it!
Do you know if the accessories purchased with the galaxy2025 code are refundable instore and would the value refunded be the same as what was "charged" during the purchase?
@tsuitenaishoujo: I cancelled one of the accessory and it was the full value of the accessory, not the discounted value from the galaxy2025 code. In the pdf/order confirmation later, it shows the full value of the items and the discount code separately.
I'm still waiting for the $170 refund from the cancelled accessory.
I do not know if it's refundable in store.
For the trade in - how do you mark it as damaged? I only am able to select the phone model and capacity - no options to mark condition etc.
Further in the checkout process
@lawyerz Thanks for the instructions, did the same. Have you sucessfully returned the acessories before? Any rusk they offset the $200? Cheers
No, first Samsung order in many many years. I've successfully cancelled one of the two accessory but I've yet to receive the refund back in my card.
The buds I'm guessing? I'm a bit nervous doing it up front. Please let us know how you go..
@elgrande: Just go down the return route then. No difference I reckon. I'll let you know if and when I get the refund
@elgrande: so after like week and half of waiting, this was what I was told: upon checking on our resources your order is still on shipping preparation. The refund will start to process once your order is completed. so just FYI. no refund in yet
@lawyerz: Thanks for the update, really appreciate it. A bit of a bummer the Samsung orders have not yet shipped, but hopefully not too far away.
@elgrande: got the phone delivered and refund confirmation email today - as expected it was the amount of $170 refund (buds 3) so got my S25ultra 512gb for $977!
+$30 for later for failing to trade in so $1,007.
pretty happy with that
@lawyerz: Nice, I will see if I still have the cancel option, otherwise will be a change of mind return..
@elgrande: Got the refund finally! I confirmed with support they removed the cancel option so you will need to return. Free returns too
@G-rig: Less of an effort than going into store, getting a credit check, sign a 2 year contract, then cancel afterwards.
@lawyerz: Prefer that than giving some random company a photo of my license and a selfie.
With telstra all i needed to hand down was my medicare details
@easternculture: Maybe at Telstra for existing customer. Medicare wouldn't be enough for a JB Telstra signup, need DL or passport, pretty standard really.
@G-rig: Incorrect. Only supplied medicare ever to telstra. And even if i gave them my license or passport details in the past, license has been changed after the optus data leak and the passport that i have is a brand new one with a new passport number.
@easternculture: fair point but telstra isn't quite a data vault either , but hey why are you arguing with some internet guy about what to do with your money or details. do what you feel is right!
@lawyerz: Better than sending your selfie and photo of license though, and to an insurance company too lol(apparently the mob doing the tradins for sammy are an insurance company)
@easternculture: Whatever works hey, you need to provide information even for pre-paid sims (like Aldi vodafone).
May as well not worry about it, the hackers would already have or be able to get it very easily!@easternculture: Cool, cant remember the options for Aldi mobile.
What info do you have to provide to get a Medicare card?
It's all linked. Wouldn't worry about it but good tip. What did you have to show JB Hi-Fi?At least you can get a new card (adding one digit; the hackers would know about this trick too).
@G-rig: Exactly why i use medicare. Just say you lost it and new number with new expiry.
Jb just asked for ID. I offered medicare and it all passed identity check
@easternculture: That's fair. Yeah I got a new DL from Optus debacle, and free Equifax subs from that and a few other places, that's worth setting up.
Ps. Seems like the S25U handles the face and fingerprint unlock a lot better, I just set up second thumb scan in dark light. Also I could be imagining it but sounds better with my wired headphones (USB C DAC -> 3.5mm & turned on UHQ upscaler). Took a bit to get Tidal going again (uninstall etc). all in all quite good!
@G-rig: I did notice speakers sound better and louder than my s23 ultra. I
Its also notably more snapier /faster than s23U side by side
@lawyerz
Hi, I see you're being super helpful so if you're not sick of that I have a question. I used my Galaxy watch to trade for $60 value in the Westpac/Samsung deal. Asurion took a $60 security payment.
My question is when I don't send the watch they keep the $60 and charge another $60 as a late fee after a few weeks?
I'm 95% sure the answer is yes - because when you were placing the final order, you would have seen -$60 discount applied to the order. so you're net off zero.
the $60 penalty charge is a different thing
Good to see you're still working on Public holidays! Many thanks. Yes I got the $60 discount.
Please note that packaged products can only be cancelled altogether, partial cancellation is not possible.
I assume you just have to recieve and return them then?
For those looking to buy outright, it’s on sale for 2049.98 at Costco for the 512GB and you might be able to get it price matched at Officeworks
I’m currently with Telstra. I spoke to a JB Hi-Fi rep who mentioned that they can check if I’ve recently ported out, and that I wouldn’t be eligible for this offer unless I’ve been with a different telco for at least a month. Has anyone else had experience porting out and back in?
Yes, go get an optus prepaid sim or even a esim if you cant be bothered going into an optus store. Wait 24 hrs and go get the deal. It depends on the store and staff as well but you will ultimately end up getting the deal.
Just completed order in Store in WA. I was shown $800.00 voucher with the value applied being $1700 on the order. everything went fine. Got $200 coupon from JB too. paid $237.00 + 99.00. So far. Cheers
That mean the total cost when breaking the co tract earlier would be $1136?
Yes!
Here's my $200 jbhifi code if anyone wants it
92FUGQWFRR2BTF
But also read my comment here:
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/16193741/redirThanks for the code
I don't use the code, but you are a legend.
I was confused about why the Samsung website was more popular than the JB deal at first. Your cmt made it make sense now. I got my own JB code, so I might go for that route then, as I couldn't access the $400 code, the calling to 1300 362 603 failed, and waiting on the website took 1 hour, when it came to my turn, it automatically closed the chat.
yeah I reckon the 2 factors that changed it for me was when i realised i can access EPP store from Westpac Rewards (at a lower discount rate of 15% instead of 20%) and that they were giving out the $400 code away anyway. Without these 2, the samsung isn't much of a deal.
the chat is 24/7, but surprisingly when i rang up, the phone was answered instantly and other comments said it was quick or instant as well, this was in the afternoon.
Hey mate, can I check what Westpac account you need to access the Samsung EEP? Thanks
@lawyerz: Hmm I'll have to give them a call tomorrow. I only have a debit account but all they're offering me is the shop back cashback deals.
@lawyerz: Yeah I get this message
You have no offers to display at this time. Please check back later.
I'll give them a call tomorrow and try my luck. Thanks
Anyone got experience cancelling jb contract twice in 2-3 months. I just cancelled my jb contract 2 months ago. What are the consequences if I get this deal and cancel it again? 😂
Black listed.
Are you sure? has it happened to you or are you assuming.
I had my P9ProXL via same process back in Sep 2024 and got the s25U Now. No issues. OfCourse paid the cancellation fee of $800.00- one month paid in advance.
Thanks mate, might give it a shot
All the very best.
Meh. 🫤 I’m sticking with my fold 5 for now. Waiting for the fold 7 instead.
Purchased through samsung app with edu store. Below is the price breakdown
S25 Ultra Phone Cost= $2349
Samsung Edu app 20% discount= -$469.8
Galaxy Watch 4 (46mm) trade in discount (broken screen)= -$1
Trade-in bonus discount= -$150
5% app discount= -$86.41
Galaxy S25 ultra standing grip case price= $37.53
Glaxy S25 Ultra Anti-reflecting flim price= $18.53
Galaxy buds pro price= $227.42
System Considered Trade-in bonus cost of $400 for $380 (system took back 5% app discount)= -$380
System Considered Galaxy unpacked instant Voucher code of $200 for $190 (system took back 5% app discount)= -$190
System Considered Galaxy evoucher of $100 for $95 (system took back 5% app discount)= -$95
Total price paid by CommBank card= $1260.27 (lets see if I get $100 back under yello offer or not?..no harm in trying by paying through coombank card)
Total trade-in security charge paid by paypal= $1Lucky you! You got an extra offer from Commonwealth as well!
not sure whether I will get $100 CBA yello offer mate.. I just used cba card to try my luck
The CBA yello offer had to be done through the Samsung CBA Yello page. It gave a $100 discount at time of purchase when you inputted a CBA card number. It isnt a cashback offer.
How did u get the galaxy 100$ e vocher
Bought $20 voucher earlier from samsung, code GALAXY2025 to be treated as $100 during 3 days of pre launch event..
Just wondering, how much will Samsung charge if we sont send in the trade in accessory worth $1 with broken screen?
$30 to $60
How do you return a broken device?
Would I be able to use the GALAXY2025 on top of all your codes?
Since there is no hope getting the JB voucher, I might go the EDU route like you did:
S25 Ultra Phone Cost= $2349
Samsung Edu app 20% discount= -$469.8
Galaxy Watch 4 (46mm) trade in discount (broken screen)= -$1
Trade-in bonus discount= -$150
5% app discount= -$86.41
System Considered Trade-in bonus cost of $400 for $380 (system took back 5% app discount)= -$380
No show trade-in return= +60I have missed the instant voucher code, the request Megathread (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/890088) is for JB voucher. May I know where I can request the Samsung unpack instant voucher code? Can it still be used?
System Considered Galaxy unpacked instant Voucher code of $200 for $190 (system took back 5% app discount)= -$190
Will post a $30 WANTED in forum to buy one if I get the above voucher.
System Considered Galaxy evoucher of $100 for $95 (system took back 5% app discount)= -$95Without the last 2 vouchers, the total cost is $1321.79.
Better to post in the edu deal
May I know where I can request the Samsung unpack instant voucher code?
Ask on samsung chat or if you have a samsung phone, you can access it on the members app.
also GALAXY2025 code is only worth $100 now
Thanks for the update. Is GALAXY2025 code still valid (Sorry I cannot test it, EDU account belongs to my son, I have no access to it yet)? or I need to ask for new one?
@fatice: That is the code, it is still valid. The code was worth $200 within the first 72 hours of the unpack and $100 now.
You will need to link the edu account to a samsung account. Just log into the samsung account you want to link (personal email address) via edu link. It will then ask you to enter the edu.au email address to validate against.
@CodeXD: Nice, That means if I can buy the $100 voucher for $30, the final cost would be $1321.79 - 95 - 95 + 30 = $1161.79
@fatice: I don't have the breakdown of 5% app calculation (I already used it 2 years ago) but the galaxy2025 code will take $100 off accessories. You essentially get $100 of accessories for free, will not discount phone directly.
@CodeXD: Thanks for the clarification. In this case, what do I get for chatting on Samsung phone via chat?
Ask on Samsung chat or if you have a Samsung phone, you can access it on the members app.
For the completeness of other: Final price from Samsung store as of 30th Jan 2025S25 Ultra Phone Cost= $2349
Samsung Edu app 20% discount= -$469.8
Galaxy Watch 4 (46mm) trade in discount (broken screen)= -$1
Trade-in bonus discount= -$150
5% app discount= -$86.41
System Considered Trade-in bonus cost of $400 for $380 (system took back 5% app discount)= -$380
No show trade-in return= +60
Buy a $100 voucher for $30 from ozb classified (system took back 5% app discount)= -65Total for S25 Ultra 512GB would be $1256.79
Use GALAXY2025 code to get $100 worth of accessories.
@fatice: After looking at the classified forum, there are a number of members looking for the $100 voucher. There is no hope of getting any Samsung or JB voucher. A better deal is to save the 1.3k and keep the eyes open for next year :)
Hoping for a good trade in bonus to come along instead.
When do you think would be the best time to cancel the contract? Just curious, should we wait until Feb 14 to receive the phone first?
….
…?
I'm actually after the S25 and given the S25 is displayed as $0 (rather than a $1700 credit voucher), should this be a safer option vs the ambiguity with the Ultra?
(I do acknowledge, they discount it at the POS but at least it's not sold as a 'voucher')
You get the phone for free on a $79 plan and if you cancel you pay first month and pro-rata $550 (i.e. 527.08 + 79 +$606.08).
If you get the first month refunded (I didn't have success) you basically just pay $550.
Anyone manage to get a freebie like charger or case with the ultra order?
A lot to read
Can anyone update if the cancellation for 800 still works and total cost of the phone if cancelling?
Yes - Did it last night. Mine cost me $766.59 + $99 (first month). Others have managed to get it for $800 and not getting the first month charged.
Cost doesn't factor any shortfall between $1700 and the phone cost. I went with just a S24+ which cost me nothing more. How soon after did you cancel? Did they actually hand you the phone? Thanks.
You have the confirmed final bill already after 1 day?
Yes. Came through straight away after chatting with online chat.
I'm currently at the store and they are refusing to apply Jb code without seeing the email
And I got it from a friend, is that right?
Or what I can do
Also they refuse to price match with CostcoTell the friend to forward the email?
Order online n use the JB code?
I have to do it in the store to get 1700 discount
I asked them to port in and continue the process online they refused
I that right?yes you need to do it instore.
Anyone tried to price match Costco and worked for him?
My local JB said they can either apply the code or price match with costco but not both.
Bit the bullet. Finally retiring my OnePlus 5T for a well deserved upgrade.
Spoke to the JB staff they said max repayment is $800 so it should be $1037 all up.
OMG!!! I just managed to score the S25 Ultra + Ear Buds + Silicone Case for $593!! Thankfully I have Govt/Edu portal access, but I had trouble logging in so I called up and they gave me a $400 discount code for my trouble, only redeemable with a trade in, so I selected my trade in of my S24 Ultra, ($740 bonus discount), also and used code GALAXY2025 for a further $200 off!! Total discount applied, -$2103.90. Mind blown
Its not $593, but $593 + $740 from your S24 ultra. Pretty sure you are able to get more money selling your S24 ultra on marketplace, rather than sending it for trade-in
Then they'd lose the $400 credit without the trade in
@NoApostrophePlurals: do the trade but just not sent the device, probably charge extra $60 non returning
Yeah I think I'll def sell the phone on marketplace for a lot more, I paid $1.5k back in Novemeber and it was brand new then.. i'll just cop the $40 non-return fee also
Could have got it cheaper. I had the S25U 256GB at $377 with buds and 2x screen protectors, and S25U 512GB at $507.
Got the preorder s25U 512gb at jb hifi with $200 coupon and then used the free $300 gc i got wirh s24U mid last year.
Then sold my S23U 1TB i got from amazon for $1050 so basically a free upgrade.
Only downside is the credit check
How to get the $200 JB code? Thank you
And is it for 512GB or it can be used for 1TB model also? Thanks in advance
The $200 code isn't the galaxy 25 code from Samsung is it?
I'm so lost sorry
Bought a $20 voucher code (boosted to $100) spontaneously and realised this upgrade isn't for me this year, waiting another year or 2. PM if you want to buy it off me for $20.
Sold
Just sent in to jb before, they refuse to accept the$200 voucher goes you can't get the$1700 and $200
I went to a different store and they go it can be stack, the other store was idiot is what they said lol
They guy in the store where i went checked the notes and it states that you can stack. They showed me on the internal documents
Jb staff asked to see the email with the 200 coupon and he read it in detail. Eventually he took 200 off plus 1700 gift card.
They shouldn't, I've confirmed with a manager at the bankstown store. He refused it at first but spoke to some online team and came back to confirm they're stackable. Apparently it's actually stipulated on their internal terms
Sounds like some stores are "managed" by clowns.
I signed up for the plan today, and cancelled right away the early termination fee was $766.59 and Telstra chat also refunded me my first month payment of $99. Absolute steal of a deal Thankyou OP!
Same
Was having a chat with the manager. He was applauding me for being such a grub and also said Telstra are looking to rework the terms and conditions so this loop hole might be closed soon..
Nah. They are still making money. Pretty sure part of the subsidised discount is compensated by samsung with some sort of agreeement and with the ETP paid and first month, they are still making a profit, if not breaking even.
Could u please share the steps.
Did U cancel straight away in store and ask for refund via chat later
or all in one go via jbhifi app chat
ThanksI cancelled when I got home through the Telstra mobile app. Then after that was done I asked them to refund the $99 first month since I have not used the plan and they refunded me :)
Nothing was done on the JB Hi-Fi app
can you please upload screenshot of cancellation without $99 ?. thanks
You have the confirmed final bill already right after cancelling?
I want to do this as well, but afraid of being charged the 1700 down the trackI cancelled the contract which is 99 per month. you wont be charged $1700 down the track once contract is terminated.
is there anyway jbhifi can charge you the $1700?
cos it's essentially a deal from them ain't it?
Just did it myself through telstra chat, they promised to refund the $99 after it clears.
So, what about receiving that phone? Isn't it related to you canceling the plan?
lucky you, I signed up and cancelled right after I leave JB today, however, live chat in Telstra does not allow for the first monthly fee refund. Have they processed your refund ?
Hi @FrugalSquid, was there any problem for you while picking up the phone later as you have cancelled the plan straight away?
Do you ready any of this thread lol
Use the Samsung Galaxy Pre-Order Code Request megathread if you're after or offering the $200 discount code. No requests in comments please
Thanks! Good to know that there is a dedicate place for it.
If i opened a vodafone account today could i port to JB tomorrow?? or it a month?
Yes you can do it. Wait 24hrs to be safe. Depending on the sales assistant dont even mention anything about the port.
I decided to cancel like the few others. Asked Telstra Support to cancel after first month as I have already paid $99.00 but the Support chopped the service immediately leaving me with no service (not my main number). Cried in Digital form and was given $99.00 refund back to my account. Now received the Final bill of $766.59. If no further dramas, then deal will end up $237+766.59 =$1003.59 in my case. Happy days.
They didnt refund me my $99 :(
Try again
Do we contact them through the JB hi fi mobile app?
You can but better with Telstra Support in my opinion. All the very best
Did you call them?
I was with telstra support chat directly and he politely refused.
Any concerns about cancelling so far in advance before the phone arrives??
No, because all jb sees on their side is you have used giftcards + $237 to pre order a phone.
I wonder if i can just port my number back to my orignal carrier would that also cancel out telstra?
Yep, thats what they suggested to me as i used one of my gold numbers and told them i didnt want to lose it
Once signed up to the plan, to cancel can we just simply port out to another provider to save having to go through Telstra messaging ?
can do that yes
have you tried it? just wanted to do it this way and not too sure what's going to happen.
I got Pixel 9 Pro XL 512Gb for ~$1150 + $350 JB gift card.
Now I'm looking at this deal and thinking if this would be a much better deal than Pixel…How are you finding the pixel? I'm surprised the 9 pro seems to have a worse camera/video compared to my base model 7
I had 6 years old LG V30 before that, so Pixel is a major upgrade for me. It's a good solid phone, but honestly, I expected a bit more. And software isn't ideal too.
beware everyone, the definition of "voucher" has changed from the last time. see below
"The $1700 off the purchase price of a Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra phone (referred to
as the “JB Hi-Fi Voucher” in the Telstra Terms and Conditions and replacing the
dollar value of the Voucher in the Critical Information Summary) will be applied to the
purchase price of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra phone and available to you instore
after connection approval by Telstra.
• If you cancel or move to a lower cost/different plan then you must pay a Voucher
Repayment Fee to Telstra pro-rated against the remaining months of your plan’s
minimum term."I already have a screen shot from telstra specifying the $760 early termination fee. Also took a reference number and agent said its all been written in account notes. The printed contract also have $800 on it
Yes, and if you cancel, do it via telstra. They will likely refund the $99.
Correct. They already agreed to refund it after the cc payment clears.
So pretty much bottom line price will be
$760 cancellation fee
+
$437 Initial JB device payment?
= $1197?
No changes at all vs previous deals.
"replacing the dollar value in the critical information summary"
Ask any JB staff member and they’ll tell you the maximum termination fee.
Any idea when will i will get my phone after ordering from jb hifi? Please
14th
What is the expected date for store collection? 6 or 14 Feb
My jb order details say 14th
Which is better value for money?
S25 on $79 plan
S25+ on $99 plan
S25 ultra on $99 plan + $437 (or $237 whatever the case may be)They are all 512GB models and no upfront cost for the S25 and S25+.
If you can source a $200 off code, definetly go for the ultra
I can’t source $200 off code. So if I go for ultra, I’ll be paying $437, so even if I’d like to sell it afterwords, which one of those would be the best choice?
Ultra 1TB for resell value
@easternculture: I was going to buy S25 ($527 vs $1204) but may be I reconsider and buy ultra for resell…
Looking at the port in info, it seems Belong isn't listed as an excluded MVNO anymore? I thought Belong was owned by Telstra and previously excluded?
Not been excluded for a while.
Instead of port-in, can we simply sign up for a new number?
Its $1600 off with new number, $1700 with port in
Port from boost to Aldi yesterday. Walked in to JB and got the deal and was on Telstra in no time.
For people who cancelled their plan, make sure jb hifi has your alternate phone number to contact when the phone is ready to pick up.
I mean if you ported in with your real number you can easily port out to the actual provider you want to be with so it won't make a difference if you do.
The PSA is for those who are cancelling so the number might not exist anymore or you throw out the sim card and won't have access.
It’s a completely separate process and system.
When I pre-ordered last time from JB deal, I got a new number. They sent me a SMS saying it is ready for pick up on the new number I signed up to.
Confirmed the extra $400 trade in credit unique code for s25 ultra can be provided by the Samsung chat.
This is what I for from them. Verbatim from them below:
"Thanks for showing interest in our new product. Here is your code: (redacted)
The code will give you $300 on Galaxy S25 and S25+ and $400 on S25 Ultra when you TRADE IN OR $150 on Galaxy S25 and S25+ and $200 on S25 Ultra WITHOUT TRADE IN. Promotion code is valid until 13 Feb 2025.Can be used on Regular Samsung Online Store (shop.samsung.com/au/) Please note that this code requires trade in when used on EPP (Samsung Education Store, Samsung Business, Samsung Enhanced Partnership Portals and Samsung Government) ."
AFAIK That has nothing to do with this offer. That is a Samsung direct offer not available with JB.
Oops. Your right. Was meaning to post in the other thread as I was following both.
Has anyone pre-ordered the s25 with a trade-in through Assurant and recieved an extension for sending their old device away. If so, were there any additional steps required?
Quoted from the jbhifi trade in page,
"Valid credit or debit card
Send your device within 7 days to avoid charges. Extended return times apply to pre-order offers."Excellent tip, I will also be going with Monster. Cheers for that!
Thank you. Had no problem porting Woolies number and the $200 Samsung worked a treat. Very happy new phone after 5 years.
Was anyone able to match Cotsco price?
yep
Went in jb at harbour town today. They refused to honour the samsung $200 e voucher.
Anyone around GC who know which jb honoured it?The staff in Brisbane said it’s allowed it says in the email as it’s only for preorders which this is. Keep trying at other stores maybe.
Bought through JB in store and used the $200 off code without an issue. Cancelled through Telstra chat today however wasn't able to get the first month refunded even after trying a few different times. Great deal for ~$1100!
Keep trying on both telstra live chat & jbmobile chat. Do stress you never even plugged in the sim or have used it at all.
Already cancelled unfortunately. I did try a couple times and stressed I haven't even activated it. They did set up a callback with the JB mobile team but unlikely they will do much now that it's cancelled
I’ve cancelled it in the past and after cancelling got refund of that. They denied me twice, but third time they spoke to manager and it was all good, refund after the cc charge cleared. Idk or maybe I’m lucky
I agree, $99 is not worth our time and stress over it. $1100 is a pretty good deal.
Hi there, Can you please share how to obtain the $200 off code? Many Thanks!
You would've needed to pre register through JB hi Fi before the phone was released. Afaik, there's no way to do that now. You could have a look at the code mega thread to see if anyone still has a code for it
Did my preorder today stacked easily with $200 code. I Just ported a $5 aldi sim. Moment walked out of store I jumped on Telstra livechat and It’s only $766.59 cancellation fee & they will refund the $99 first month charge. Total cost to me $766.59 + $237 =$1,003.59. An absolute bargain of a deal way better than Samsung as I’m not trading in anything. Best of all I got until 10th feb to pay the $766.59. Checkmate :)
So, what about receiving that phone? Isn't it related to you canceling the plan?
curious to know you've cancelled the contract how do you still receive the phone?
no.
the contract is by itself and the phone is like a normal purchase.
if you have done these deals before the way it work is they give you a gift card to use to purchase the phone.
How did you cancel? Have you got the phone handset as yet? I thought they arent out until mid feb.
nope, paid for it upfront as a pre order.
JB will call you when it arrives
Hi mate, can I ask when you port $5 aldi sim, did you just activate the aldi sim on the same day? Cheers
Any chance youve got a screenshot of telstra chat to get $99 refunded
Ok to confirm. I was originally with telstra jbhifi on my s22 ultra. That plan ended 4 months ago however as i was lazy i was still with telstra. I attended jbhifi at macq centre in sydney to change over to the s25 ultra with the 1700 coupon. The staff there was a dick and lacked any knowledge and straight up told me i wasnt eligible. I told him if i switched to an optus prepaid could i return as a new customer. The dick stated, "no you wont be eligible for 30 days." Needless to say i walked out disgruntled. I went to another jbhifi store close by and spoke to another sales assistant. He was super helpful. I changed to an optus prepaid waited for 24hrs and returned and i obtained the deal.
My advice is pick and chose the right jbhifi store and the person you speak to. Avoid going to the one at Macquarie centre. The staff can see your history with Telstra, I think they were instructed to not give out this deal for those who have been with Telstra within the past 30 day. However, Its up to the staff whether they want to enforce it or not, because the system will still allow you to get this deal even if you are still with Telstra and you can just get a new number.
Incorrect
As per t&c, you are allowed 3 connections for the $1700 dealSo whats the point of instructing their staff if there's no actual repercussion for their actions if they dont enforce it.
Also to confirm if you get a new number when you were previously with telstra its 1600 not 1700 according to the original staff i spoke to.
I think i have learnt my lesson with this experience. No point being a loyal customer. You get less rewarded for it.I don't know, I think my point is I've experienced getting rejected because I hvn't been away from Telstra for 30 days. I went to other store where the employee can also see when was my last connection with Telstra but he still proceed with the telco deal anyway.
What was the name of that feature that allows you to charge phones by being back to back to each other. Meaning no cables, plugs or powerbank required?
And does this phone have it?
Wireless power share (reverse charging). Never used it though
Thanks never knew my phone had it. Would be useful. Is it limited between brand to brand ie samsung to samsung or can i use with different brands or even different os like android and i phone
Works for different os
I have this on the S10. It works but it's very inefficient. Last time I tried charging my friends iPhone 11 I think I charged theirs up 5% but I lost about 20%. Not sure if they have made it better on the newer models but it is really only useful for small devices e.g. Wireless earbuds or if you need to charge someone's phone from 0% in a pinch
Just did the whole cancellation thing.
Not sure why mine was 799? but it still super cheap!!
(might be cos I haven't been charged the 1st month yet?)
How much can one sell these phones , is it easy to sell it online ?
You selected: As Working Condition
We will pay you:
AU$1990
per unitIt also says: we’ll pay you $1240, which one is correct, $1240 or $1990?
There's no way they pay you $1990. They are probably selling it for $1990
@yummypinacolada: @yummypinacolada I don’t know. Actually I never heard about them before but their site says $1990
Obviously you'd be getting much more selling it private as brand new and sealed. Not $1990 though, probably more like $1500
If I email customer care at JB and pretend I never received my code, you think they would provide me one?
I have tried that. Waiting for their support to contact me. No luck so far
Lemme know how you go :)
Just received a response. No luck mate.
Anyone know how do you put the trade in device as broken so it will be $1? try to avoid the $60 fee non return fee.
I couldn't find the trade in app in the playstore, was it done on Samsung website?
cheers
Select galaxy watch 4 broken screen
Avoid $60 return free?
I don't want to use my primary number to port & then cancel. Can someone point me to steps for $2 sim that can be activated and ported fast.
Hi mate, did you just purchased today? I had problem with Lebara new sim, activate new number today and when trying to port to Telstra, wait for more than 1 hour still not activated and they can't process the $1700 gift card.. anyone got the same problem?
Lebara using Vodafone. Will try with ALDI then if this is not go thru. Did you just port out using ALDI today?
Ah thanks mate
I've just registered for the Telstra ID but my plan/service doesn't show up in the My Telstra mobile app. Anyone experience the same issue? I signed up and activated the mobile service yesterday. Thanks
you have to use jbmobile app. jbmobile on plan will not show up in my telstra app and this service will not qualify for telstra plus. This is the same case with goodguys mobile
Does it mean when you cancel your plan, you have to use JBMobile app to cancel? Will it incur $1700 instead of $800 Voucher Repayment Fee?
I haven't canceled my JB plan. Previously, I had a Good Guys plan, and when I canceled it by porting to another provider, the early termination fee appeared in the Telstra app instead of the Good Guys mobile app.
I have a $350 jb hi fi e-gift card. Can I use it to deduct from the $437 upfront cost?
Yes you can
Sweet. So it should be $766 + $437 + $99 - $350 = $952. Less if I can get the $99 refund?
Hope I can get the $200 jb code so it's $766 + $99
Can some PM JB hifi Telstra receipt where they bought S25 and also applied $200 voucher?
Thank you
Check pm
Hi mate, do you mind to send me as well? Cheers
Done
I went to JB and they're playing dumb about the 200 voucher as they don't even know anything 🤷
Can someone please help me out and dm 1 voucher if you have a spare or not gonna use. Thanks in advance
Go find someone else. The jbhifi guys know about the $200 voucher
Just hit a bit of a snag. I ordered the phone yesterday, porting in with an Aldi sim that I had just registered. Cancelled my $99 per month phone plan today.
However, I just realised that when the phone is ready to be picked up, they will be texting me on the phone number that I just cancelled. Does anyone know if that will be an issue when I go to pick it up? I won't have a text message to show or anything.
Hi mate, can I ask if you activate the Aldi Sim yesterday and porting in to Telstra on the same day? As I had problem with Lebara (activated today) and after 4 hours the porting in to Telstra still not successful? They cant proceed with the bonus gift card
Yes, I activated the Aldi SIM about 11:00 a.m. yesterday, and ported to Telstra while I was in store a couple hours later.
Now I'm just not sure how I'll know when the phone's ready or pick it up in store when I won't have an SMS to show them.
Thanks mate, it should be fine, you can always call and check with your number and bring ID
Just rock up on 6th of February or call them provided you have your identifications should be all good. Also they will issue your final receipt for warranty purposes when you collect just say your current active phone number.
Don't they email you as well? Also possible to check order status manually on website?
surely they email?
Can you open a new plan from say Lebara and transfer to Telstra to get this deal. I don't want to port my existing number.
Hi all.
Just wondering how you are all cancelling your services and keeping the $1,700 voucher. The T&Cs state that they will recoup the voucher pro-rata.
Appreciate if anyone can let me know how to get this waived so i can buy a new phone.
Thanks.
Hi can I please request for explanation.
I wanted to buy S25 Ultra 512gb.
how can I avail this deal and how much will it cost altogether.
thanks
Anyone know if the $10 perks coupon can be stacked with the $200 voucher?
I asked and unfortunately not, I was told that they don't stack.
Not for preorder items
Does anyone know if you can sign up to the Telstra plan with a visa gift card?
How do you get access to Telstra chat? I only have access to the JB portal?
How much tax is shown on phone receipt? Need it for TRS.
Preorder invoice has no GST
I presume it will show the full amount, just same as if you used $1900 of GCs + $237 cash. So $2137 (incl gst)
It's crazy. After getting gst back, looks like you'd actually make profit by upgrading every year and selling the old phone (assuming they keep running a similar deal annually).
Yup
I was hoping to double dip on gst refund and use preorder and original invoice when i pickup the phone. But no GST component on the preorder invoice
Would be interesting if we can return the phone for a gift card value of 1923… out of pocket 1000ish
Just pre ordered the s25 ultra from JB hi fi, couldn't use the $200 code as they said its only valid in samsung's website and not in JB hi fi store.
Is this true ?
The JB code was emailed from them and comes with a barcode.
The code sent from Samsung themselves is not valid for JB.Hi there, can you share how to have the $200 voucher code emailed by JB?
Do you actually need the barcode to apply the voucher? I have the code to apply the $200 discount but not the email.
Thanks:)
Is anyone on Optus network having porting issue?
Its been over 24 hours for me.
same, i don't know what is taking so long.
Did it get ported for you?
Technically there is no Porting on Sunday nor is there on Australia Day holiday.
So just luck if it goes thru.
( I have done heaps of ports and even downloaded the document with non port days.)
Say it again tis pure luck if it does go ahead
( have done on a Sunday as I didn't care if it got held up or not)
Can we sign up with new number on Aldi and then follow rest of the process at JB? Or do we have to port in the existing number to Aldi first and then port in again at JB…?
I went to jbhifi yesterday and the guy said I can get a new number even though it’s for porting only. Depends on who you get I reckon.
Really? I’ll check when I go today to buy it
Really struggling to get the $99 refund. Do you only get one chance? Once you confirmed cancellation, is that it?
I only already confirmed cancellation but I read another comment where someone still got it after the third try. Still a great deal nonetheless.
That live chat mentioned lot of Jb hifi customers cancelling on the same day haha
Keep trying both Telstra & Jbmobile chat, you need to stress you haven't even plugged in the sim card at all or used the service at all. be extremely nice but convey sympathy.
Had another stab at it. Said they will process refund once the funds clear in their account for my order.
Also, I chose random options in the chat to connect with someone outside the cancellation team (not sure if this helped)
Thanks for the advice!
24 hours later, still waiting for my Amay Sim I set up yesterday to port over to Telstra since he did it in store. What is taking so long?
Ports used to take longer on Sundays and public holidays but i thought that wasnt an issue anymore.
Same issue here with a port from Amaysim yesterday afternoon and order is still processing. Should be done tomorrow, after which will have to go back to the store.
My apologies, unpublished my post
Hi guys, the staff at Jbhifi gave my only a receipt. Should I also be getting an email with the order details?
same here, never received a confirmation email nor a digital receipt for the phone component.
Check your junk email?
I received an email for pre order of the phoneYeah I checked my junk nothing in there too. Just received emails regarding the porting to telstra/jbhifi.
I called the Jbhifi today and they told the receipt is the only thing they give and invoice will be emailed once order is complete.
Get 10% off, via coles 10% off TCN kids gift card
Does this end today?
Gift cards go on sale at coles on wednesday
Can I confirm my math is right - for the 1TB model, the total cost would be $1403.57 if I can get the $99 refunded?
That yep that’s correct, provided you have the $200 off code.
Went to JB HiFi and pre-order, receive the physical receipt/contract but order status is "in progress" after waiting for 30 minutes. Leave the store and hopefully the system will work later.
Anyone has the same problem?
It takes abit. Did it twice took about 10 minutes each time.
It took about 4hours for completed order for me. So did you cancel both contract at the same time, same day? Any problems with cancelling?
Oh at least it’s all done now. I cancelled it the second I left the store lol. Just did it sitting in my car using the Telstra app livechat. Zero issues. In fact I actually came in again and got one for my relative. Zero issues both got 99 refunded to.
Re: $1100 JB Hifi store voucher when you sign up on $99 Telstra plan.
Apologies, if this has already been covered. Haven't hade a chance to scroll through all the posts
Does this go toward the reduction in price for the phone?
I was told in store the other day (re; S25+) that the $1100 store voucher (offered with the telstra $99 plan), becomes $1687 so you get the phone for $0.
I explained that's not how the offer reads on the website….Didn't get into an argument with him. Just politely said thanks for clarifying and walked away.
The way I read it, is that S25+ for $0 if you sign up for the Telstra $99 plan. The $99 plan offers a $1100 JB Hifi Voucher (til 13/2/2025).
So can anyone tell me if this is actually the case or did the store attendant tell me furfy!
What is your experience for those that have gone through the process? If you port in, you get a $1700 voucher for the S25+ so there is not upfront cost. You will be charged the $99 Telstra service fee for the first month which you can get refunded. So total cost for the S25+ should be the $766 voucher repayment to Telstra.
I bought both a S25 Ultra and S25+ yesterday
So you did not walk out of the store with a JB HiFi GC?
If you did what value was it?They scanned the gift card as I was paying for the phone. Effectively I paid nothing for the S25+. The gift card was $1700 as per the deal.
I assume you got two connections ported in.
Yep, two numbers got ported. I was there with my wife and it was one phone per person on seperate Telstra accounts
Hey just checking if you received any email for the pre-order or just the paper receipt? Thanks
I got both email and paper receipt
I have put in a request in the other thread so will see how that goes but also wanted to get everything prepped in advance. I'll prefix this by saying this is going to sound like a bit of a silly question but for context I previously bought my current phone outright about 4-5 years ago and it wasn't a new release at the time.
So I went and bought an Aldi Sim earlier today and have it activated with a new number, I've confirmed it to now be operational. Will the JB staff need to see it physically in store? Obviously its not my primary number which is the one I want to keep in my mobile device if possible. All the other instructions/advice everyone has provided seem straight forward enough that was the only thing I wanted to confirm in case I need to advise my mobile may not be contactable for approximately 'x' amount of time.
You need an active sim to receive the porting sms. If you've a spare phone insert the sim in it and turn it on when you go to JB Hifi.
OR
Take out your other sim (primary number) and insert the ALDI sim for temporary use. Also, if your phone is esim compatible change the primary number to esim.
Activated sim I have confirmed.
No spare phone that's why I was asking whether they'd actually need to see the sim either by itself or functioning in a phone or would they simply just be looking up its status online and confirming its status. I won't be looking to retain the new number/service but would need to give notice to numerous persons if needing to have my primary number non contactable during purchase.
JB Hifi doesn't need to see any of that or care about it. When you initiated the porting process Telstra will send you a sms, which you provide the code to the staff.
When porting they will send you an SMS that you need to confirm you want to port. So I can't just give them someone else's number to port lol
@CodeXD: Well that answers the question, sim needs to be active in a mobile at time of purchase in order to receive the text to provide to the staff.
Thought the back end system may of shown who it was registered to was my train of thought and as when you signed up to the Aldi account you needed to provide all of your personal details they would also then match.
Thanks for the confirmation
Yeah bring the sim with you and they just send a verification code sms to that number. You only need to plug it in when they send you the sms. Then you could just unplug it when it’s done.
Perfect, cheers.
How do I get the $200 off code? I wanna buy this phone for my mum as gift thanks
Too late now. You had to sign up with an email before presales started. There was a deal posted for it.
Join the megathread as posted in the initial comment and hope you get lucky
Genuine question, why is everyone cancelling the plan through Telstra chat instead of porting out to new provider? Wouldn't porting out be easier than cancelling through chat?
Port might take too long to action and any delay means the $99 month fee ticking away.
People might also be using burner number to sign up so dont care about porting number to save.
Also good to do in chat to get screenshot confirmation of final bill incase they (telstra/jb) try hit you up for further fees later.
How to refund the $99 first month? Telstra said i need to talk to jb hifi because its been charged to them.
no, they are just passing the buck! Telstra are the ones that refund, not JB. Stick to your guns it took a bit of convincing for me over chat before they folded.
Can I port my non-telstra spare number in for this deal THEN transfer ownership of the number/plan to my dad, then can he transfer his usual number to said new plan? (then cancel his old JB plan)
Apologies if it's obvious, but I haven't followed this stuff for a few years, but recall them making this hard.what do i pay on the day that i order the phone?? is it 437 + 99?
$99 refund for first month just hit my bank acc.
25 Ultra 512gb
Total $766 + 237 =$1002After GST refund (trs)
Brings total to ~$800Much better than the samsung deals.
Great score, and thanks for letting us know that the refund cleared without any issues. Gives me even more confidence in making the same purchase…albeit without the TRS opportunity lol
Nice work. Do you plan to bring the phone back into Aus after you claim trs , what’s the chance they tell you to repay it when you return. Cheers.
Yes, but I'm travelling with family, so splitting the $2k amongst us will bring it down under $900 per person allowance threshold.
Highly unlikely I would get pulled up but who knows.Yes they are stalking the forums…
:)
How you get the $99 refund?, Telstra staff reluctant to refund first month fee , tried 2 times via Telstra chat but no luck.
Don't know, maybe I got lucky with the agent. I just said I wasn't happy with the service then requested the refund and they did it right away.
Try again
Multiple people on this thread reported success (which is why i bothered to try my luck in the first place)
Not sure if they put notes on the file or something after you get denied?Did you canceled it immediately after the porting was complete or waited for some time? Also how long did it take to get the refund after you asked for it?
@Sbora0: Cancelled within 2 hours of porting.
I asked for refund Friday and got it today (Wednesday)
Took me 4 goes but got it refunded eventually! Pure luck i think
Successfully completed 2 ports and and cancels.
Thinking of going back and doing a third port at a different jb hi fi (phones for family members), what are the chances they will see that I have already cancelled 2 plans a few days ago?
I see there is a 3 sign up limit per customer
Did you cancel with Tesltra or JB?
JB Team is saying they can cancel the plan for me, but will I get the $99 refunded if I cancel with JB?
How did you cancel?Telstra app chat, unsure about doing it through JB direct. $99 was never charged upfront.
I was just invoiced a $799 ETC for each order only after cancelling
Ohh this is something new.
I thought it was 99+766 and then 99 refund.
Still good.
Thanks!
Good to hear, i've done 1 so far
Where are you getting the JB codes from?
I had one s25 ultra pre register code from signing up to the pre order
The other order was just for the s25+ and wanting to get a second s25+
Going in 2morrow morning to get the phone. Hopefully can get the $99 refund as well.
Is it released in stores to pick up tomorrow?
It will be available from 6th Feb onwards.
Do we just show up at JB on 6th or need to wait for sms or email from jb?
I mean will order. The phone will release later
What cases and screen protectors are everyone buying? Are there any good anti-reflective tempered glass protectors? The Samsung one is a film, and its durability seems questionable based on previous versions.
Ordered Samsung film and a couple of cases. Got them 40% off or something like that. Not worth retail pride IMO
How is the film compare to the protection glass?
I’ve had it for the z fold 6, and it’s been fine. Doenst feel like your typical plastic films - but not as tactile as glass. I would say it’s just ok but if you’re really looking for a glass feel get those of eBay or amazon. They’re going to be a lot cheaper than the ones in jbhifi etc
@ffagz: How effective is its anti-reflective quality? Is the AR coating holding up well or degrading quickly?
Telstra refusing my refund for the $99, stating that it was charged from JBHIFI and to ask them.
Unless they've changed the policy in the past few days i think they're giving you BS. Everyone who got refunded did it through telstra directly.
can confirm it is BS. Telstra are the only ones that operate the mobile side for JB and they do the refunds.
Also, it's crazy to me that Mobile Monster is only offering $1350 for a new sealed S25 Ultra. My iphone 16 PM is worth $1530 and it's 3 months old! haha
Couple of days ago it was $1990 for 512gb ultra
Maybe it'll go back up once all the promos are over
Pro tip, ask the Ebay online chat people for a free no final fee listing, they have provided me a couple in the past year but I had to ask. I have been a member for over 10 years though.
What do you expect? Full Retail price? They have to make a profit.
What sort of discount we could expect on S24 ultra once S25 is available?
I cant decide which way to go….Thank you OP for the post and all the comments here. Ended up getting the S25 Ultra 512 for $979.
S25 Ultra cost: $2137
Add: $99 first month charge
Less: $1700
Less: $200 (preorder coupon by JB)
Add: $766 termination fee (confirmed by Telstra and invoiced)
Less: $99 first month refunded through live chat= $237 payment to JB Hifi (less $23.70 by paying via discounted gift cards) + $766 ET payment to Telstra
= $979Now to book an international trip within 60 days and get a further $176 back from TRS
I think it will be $176. Have to divide $1937 by 11 to get the GST amount.
Did they refund the $100? what did you say? I've tried twice now. I'm stuck because now they just keep reviewing the previous chat that shows they said no.
Why worried, it is just $99 you already got an expensive phone for less than half price. Just happy and enjoy it. Gezz
@Dumpshid: The spirit of ozbargainers is to save every penny. Profit will need to be made even if the phone is free.
@fatice: That is BS spirit. If the busines can't survive, you will not have nice things in Australia. You should learn how to be enough.
@Dumpshid: Beeroppp. Wrong. You need to understand how the retail industry works and or other marketing strategies. The fact is you can buy this device form Samsung direct at significant discount. Samsung would not sell it if they were losing money, and also the fact that the uninitiated sheep would pay retail (I was one such paying fool/full price for Samsung smartphones years ago). JBHIFI is just the same as well, they get subsidy/kickback from Samsung/Telstra and by numbers they know a portion will maximize the gains, while others (mostly the uninitiated) will not cancel their lines, but rather keep them (as I had done years ago). If they were going out of business they wouldn’t offer this. Retailers like Jb follow loss maker strategies for such devices, their main margin is in accessories/extras which they try to sell you.
@Dumpshid: It's more that if Telstra are refunding some, they should refund everyone the $99 who asks. Why are they being selective?
@Dumpshid: You seem to be the Angrybird who joined OzBargain yesterday, making six comments all in the same tone. Are you, by any chance, a Telstra rep ?!!
@EssendonUser: No, i am not. I signed up this deal as well 😁. I have a limit of how to take advantage of discount. I am not greedy. If business survive, people will have good deals like this all the time. For me $99 is nothing when you can save $1700 from the deal. Don't abuse system too much.
@Meowstronaut: People is getting too greedy and that become disgusting. That why not many brands will bring good and top models to Australia market. Top end models will go to US market and us get a shitty model.
@Dumpshid: okay, people are getting too greedy, yet here YOU are on that exact website.. make it make sense.
@Meowstronaut: Yes, i am looking for a good deal. I signed up this deal as well but i played by their rules. I used $200 code from JB, paid $99 for first month, paid $766 early temination and get $1700 off.
Not bothering to beg or lie to get $99 back. I asked JB staff to throw in a free 45w charger and he is happy to do it so i am happy. Win Win for both end. Easy
@Dumpshid: I agree with you that some people are just really greedy, some are buying multiple phones which I'm sure its no longer for personal use but rather for re-selling purposes. Once someone share some shady tricks on a public forum then its only a matter of time before lots of people abusing it.
@Meowstronaut: Depends on the agent. Some are being *ricks others want a good kpi and keep customer happy. It doesn’t come out of the agents pocket. It’s an ego/power game for some of these agents. I’ve had 50-50 success with refunding the first month fee over the 8 or so cancellations over the years
@G-rig: I love good deals like other people but i want to let them know if they go too far, deals like this will be gone.
I am sure Telstra knew about this loop hole but they don't care to fix, i guess they don't lose money from this but if we keep asking a refund, they might start losing some income. That when they start fixing the issue.
I just kept pressing. They denied me two times (in the one chat) but i kept saying i didn't use the sim at all. They eventually gave in and gave me the refund. Gotta stay persistent haha
Return the phone for a 1923$ go maybe? Would be an uber hack.
technically yes you could do this as i have in previous deals, although you will get eyeballed by the manager as a no shame ozbargainer hahahah
Why though? If it’s legal then doesn’t matter to them. They still got you as a customer as the gift card can’t be used anywhere else. Eventually they’ll get you on a stupid (high margin) purchase anyway
Thanks for sharing. Can I know where to get the $200 preorder coupon code you mentioned "less: $200 (preorder coupon by JB)". Did it apply the discount $200 automatically when you walked into the store? Or need an formal email about the code from JB hifi?
This was a pre-order coupon that you had to register for through jb hifi website. I believe you can't get one now unless you get it from someone in ozbargain.
thanks
Can i still do this after canceling my s24ultra deal last year from telstra??
You need to pay the early termination fee for your existing plan when porting out to Aldi. There is a 30-day waiting period to be eligible for this offer when you port back to Telstra. However, enforcing this depends on the JB staff. I did mine from Good Guys Mobile -> Aldi -> JB. You need to pay the termination fee before taking a new connection if it's above $399.
Thanks. Even if we canceled this one?
Question for those that cancelled, did you sign into the JB Mobile app at all prior to the cancellation?
I've not used the sim but its referencing checking into that account to track order etc. Are there any different terms listed in there that vary from the basic email from Telstra which provides the CIS with max $800. Weighing up ensuring I have the phone in hand before cancelling and just take the $99 hit to be sure there's no complications on collection.Has anyone signed up for a second plan after cancelling a first plan ? A few days after ? Any complication with doing so ?
Just purchased S25Ultra 512GB from JB. Managed to get the deal for $1900 off. Tried to get the $30 off $300 perks deal but at the last minute turned out in the small print to exclude pre-orders. Still great deal and managed to connect to Telstra chat and cancel the plan. I was promised the $99 refund but as my initial payment of $99 still had not fully cleared on their system i need to call back on the chat for the refund. Took screen shots of the promise and also got a reference number for the chat. So hopefully should have $99 back soon. Also latest update from my JB on their screens was phones will be ready for pickup on the 4th Feb.
Just did the same S25 Ultra 512GB Titanium Blue. Got the $1700 + $200 off and used my previous JB gift card to pay the balance of $237. Was told the phone will be ready to pick up on the 4th Feb. Went home and used the Telstra app chat to cancel without putting the new SIM into my phone. I asked about the refund of $99 (which is still pending), was initially told unable to refund. I said I haven't used the service yet then was told now the refund can be provided. Received a cancellation invoice of $766.59 to be charged on 13th Feb, also SMS and email for the refund of $99, both immediately during the chat.
Total cost is $237 + $766.59 = $1003.59 plus will be claiming back $176 ($1937/11) TRS next month.
Awesome that you managed to get the $99 refund at the same time. Mine wouldn't process the refund until the payment had cleared first. Got the cancellation email but have to go back to the chat when the $99 has cleared at their end.
If you bring the phone back to Australia after claimging TRS, do you pay gst on the full amount of the amount above the threshold of 900?
Which JB store was it? for $1900 off
$1700 off with plan
$200 off with codetotal $1900
I spoke with JB chat this afternoon about pre-ordering. He said pick up is 4/2/25! Will order tomorrow in store. Now to find a case on Amazon.
Case on Amazon is overpriced. Better look at Temu or Aliexpress.
Didnt know there is $50 min delivery on Temu, maybe waived for new user. Ordered 2 cases and 3 screen protectors for $16 in total, placed order on 24th Jan and now arrived Brisbane
@Leonard0880: I bought all these for a little over $40
https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/46868/119494/screensho…
The Encased case is selling about $70 on the official website for other phones
The magnetic wallet (encased case has a magnet) is selling about $12 from other sellersI buy from amazon because if anything breaks (yea, including screen protectors haha), they will refund.
Temu is hit and miss@G-rig: Got it for my gym membership card.
Looking at the back of my s23U, the wallet should not block the camera@easternculture: Ok depends where the magnet is in the wallet and may only block the bottom camera but let us know how you go!
I have my gun card in my digital wallet on the phone.
@G-rig: Confirming wallet does not cover camera and magnet is very strong.
Wallet is very high quality and stitching is perfect.
Case seems to be better quality compared to my otterbox defenderEdit: just bought 2 more wallets as spares
I'm really struggling with getting an operator in the cancellation team that is willing to refund the $99 first month fee… four attempts and no success yet. They're all copy/pasting the same few paragraphs with "Please be advise that we will not be able to refund the first payment upon cancelling the service."
Same! I've had no luck so far.
They are telling me to contact JB to get a refund of the $99 but also sighting the same info
What reason do people give for cancelling? And you are cancelling same day and before youbreceive the phone? Thanks
Cost of living, is that the usual BS?
Reason: I "accidentally" walked into the store 30mins ago and signed up to a $99 24 month plan, but have decided that it is in my best interests to cancel this plan after some considerable thought.
Did you get the $200 code aswell? If so do you know if a code can be used twice?
I signed up to this deal yesterday at JB.
512gb S25 Ultra for $1937 after the $200 pre- release voucher and $1700 JB gift card.
Used remaining balance of $237 using TCN gift cards for additional 10% off.
Question about cancelling the service. I logged into My Telstra app and can't see the new service.
How do i cancel this service as it says to log into my JB HI-FI mobile account to activate? I haven't used the new sim yet as I bought aldi sim to transfer existing number I can't log into jb mobile account without activating the new sim
Call telstrra or use their app. Provide the phone number assigned
Anyone has insider news on actual release/pick up date from JB? 4th Feb is what's stated on their website.
Word from JB today is they expect stock around the 3rd Feb.
Once the phones are in stock, will it affect the cancellation process at all?
JB was definitely cheaper using all codes. Much easier too as you didn't have to rely on returning accessories. Mine came to $213 using TCN gift cards (10% discount) plus $766 cancellation fee and $99 first month which I'll try to refund for a 512gb S25 Ultra
Credit check doesn't faze me. I guess it depends on personal circumstances. Without any codes what was the Samsung price for a 512gb S25U?
Can confirm $99 refunded
Congratulations!
I'm not having much luck :(
I just managed to get the refund on my third attempt. It seems to be luck for which agent you get.
Has anyone had a crack at 200 off with no voucher?
I'm purchasing tomorrow and missed the coupon / no luck in the other thread.
I just placed a pre-order at 4PM today and cancelled it at 5PM. Then I asked about the refund but it was not accepted by Telstra, they said I can go to JB to request a refund. After that Then I just tried again and Telstra accepted it quickly. Looks like I got lucky.
So the total is: $237 + $766= $1003 for a new galaxy, seems like a good deal. What did you say?
After they verified my identity via email. I said I wanted a refund for canceling my plan. They said wait a moment for them to check, then they said they will refund me 🤷
What did you say to the bot?
What options did you select?Did you get put through to the accounts or cancellation team?
@Rakddon: What options?
I said refund, and the bot connected me with an agent. Then they sent the message confirmed the refund.@Duece1995: Yes, canceled at 5PM + asked about refund (They didn't accept). 8PM try again and success.
Any idea on getting a sim card for porting in? Aldi mobiles sim card uses telstra wholesale, so that wont be eligble for doing this.
I used Aldi $5 PAYG and no issues. Activated the day before getting the deal. No issues at all
Will cancelling the plan affect collection of the phone?
So what is the average price people are getting the 512GB for after cancelling etc?
Have an option to get the 1TB for $1340 outright direct from samsung - anyone get lower than that for the 1TB?
How to get that price from samsung?
Through a friend - not a general public offer - one time code sort of thing
Great price . I am also looking for best deal for 1tb
Mine came to $1078 for the 512gb. I'll try to get $99 first month refunded too.
I am also interested in knowing how to get it for that price from Samsung. Assuming it's the Ultra version and no trade-in required.
I was gonna go for the HN deal ($749 upfront + 4*$69 for 4 months of service + $690) but that's a min spend of $1715 when this one can be had for less. The only thing that's worrying me is whether this gonna be affecting your credit score or not as I read somewhere in the comments here.
Also, I may want to delay cancelling until I receive the phone to guarantee no issues there or extra payment to do. In this case I am assuming I will only be charged pro-rata for that first month for the few days of service but I am also reading about people not getting their $99 back. It's still cheaper without the code and not getting the first month refunded. quite tempted to go buy an aldi sim now to activate and use it for porting in (I am assuming this is what the majority had success with here without using their existing numbers)
Anyone got recommendations for a nice case and screen protector?
https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/aw/d/B0DPQLRJLM/ref=ox_sc_act_i…
Personally I use this same case for my S24U and love it. Thin with good protection and nice feel.
https://amzn.asia/d/akC8QqZIn store now and they are saying if you cancel the plan it affects your credit rating
That's why i think it's better to wait until you receive the physical device before cancelling the plan. Is their any way JB instore can tell if you've cancelled the contract?
I think all the JB reps would say you would have to pay $1700 but what we have read so far from those who have cancelled the charge from Telstra is about $800
I am going to grab an Aldi sim card now to activate today so maybe tomorrow I can go into a JB store
No JB rep would say you have to pay $1700 as it would be what is on the CIS and that is $800. They have to advise based on that document.
@G-rig: Ah right. I'm not sure how the staff member thought that would be a legally binding document. Lol
We have people tell us they are going to cancel it and we just advise that Telstra may ban them from getting more plans if they abuse the gift card deals, but I've seen very few be banned.
@Mattycee: Hey @Mattycee
Can U confirm if there is any way for JB or Telstra to cancel gift cards when we cancel the service?
There are comments below in this thread suggesting that!!
It spooked me a little
@OzbHere: Hey,
I have never seen it happen, but I wouldn't guarantee it won't.
Maybe the safest bet is to wait until the phone is in hand.
Nah not getting any loans any time soon. I have not cancelled it yet anyway.
The lady in the JBhifi Cranbourne store was pretty good. She said if you are likely to cancel the plan you will only be paying $800 as per the plan summary and if you have used a few months then it decreases
It affects your credit rating ONLY for Telstra plans i.e. you MAY be refused new plans in next 3-6 months due to this / regular cancellations. Otherwise no impact.
Done 7 so far in last 3 months. Ordered the phone today. It was rejected 2 days ago but that was due to pending outstanding payment for the cancellation fees. Paid up and went through.
Thats why I said you MAY be refused new plan.
7 cancellations in 3 months?! Why do you want so many lol
Hey @fadzsolz
Nice to know you having lots of success with cancelling and getting refunds on first month payments too
Do U know if JB or Telstra can somehow cancel the GIFT cards when U cancel the plan?
There are some comments below in this thread suggesting "Telstra Rep Said you have gift plan with your mobile, so once we cancel and refund that will be cancelled too!"
Appreciate your insights mate
@OzbHere: Just cancelled now, got 99$ refund - took 3-4 tries.
For charges, they will spell out exactly what will be charged - 766 or someting thats it. Because your GC was already used for a purchase.
Successfully cancelled my plan today. $766 due and agent said he would refund the $99 once payment has cleared. Captured a screen shot and reference ID.
Happy days 🙂
congrats :), such an insane deal, imo they will nerf the cancellation fees this year too many ppl doing the same hack haha, so good while you get it now
$980 for an S25 Ultra 512gb is ridiculous for a brand new flagship handset.
how are you coming up at $980?
lol, they already did I believe, been tyring past 5 hours no cigar. eventually someone will give in…
If anyone is wondering if previous cancellations have any impact, I signed up twice during the launch of Pixel 9 Pro and cancelled immediately. Went today and signed up for this one and now going to cancel.
Also, sould I cancel through Telstra chat or JB hi-fi chat to increase my chances of getting the $99 refunded?
Telstra
What's the official release date? 7th Feb or 14th Feb? and anybody know if we might get the devices earlier than 14th Feb?
Quite a few people who ordered via Samsung Edu store deal are confirming their order status changed to shipped. So most likely will be delivered early next week
I am with JB mobile and I ported out yesterday. Can I sign up for this and port straight back in? Is there a minimum time anyone has run into?
Technically you can't as you need to be away from Telstra network for 30 days, but you just need to find a staff who doesn't check your history.
Do you need an existing number or port over or can you sign up a new number on your existing account? Then cancel your old existing plan, but keep/transfer the old number to new plan?
And also just confirming, if you have the Samsung $200 pre order voucher this will work at JB?
If you port they get you $1700 if new it’s z&1600
In 2022, I got same type of plan 1200 voucher for 89 plan, when I tried to cancel the plan from Telstra, they said use the app where it used to show an early termination charge : 700 something and voucher repayment: some amount if I add up those two it will be just 100 or 200 less than what I will be paying in 24 months plan. I end up going for whole 24 months.
Not sure how come people are only paying termination charge and no voucher charge.
So we now don't have to pay the early termination charges for the plan right ?
The ETCs are the voucher repayment.
Finally managed to find a JB rep who agreed to give Costco price match in addition of using the coupon.
Overall cost came out to be $906 for 512 gb Variant.Wow that’s pretty cool
Wow. Didn't see this price previously from Costco otherwise JB should be matching.
what's Costco's price please? How can the rep check it t confirm?
How many reps did you try first? From what ive hward before, they arent meant to price match Costco because you need membership to buy.
I bought my first device on 24th and the rep said I can either do a price match or use the coupon but not both so I used a coupon but for second device I went to couple of other JB stores. The first one repeated the same story but the girl at second JB store looked to a little too keen to make the sale but repeated the same story that her manager is refusing to price match Costco so I lied to her that I'll go to other JB store where my fried was able to combine the deal and then immediately both manager and she agreed to combine deal.
I just canceled the plan. They charged $766.57 for early termination fee and I got $99 refunded at Telstra app.
I am worrying about this.
The agent in Telstra said " As you have a device on a repayment option gift card, this will also be cancelled."
Does this mean $1700 jb giftcard is cancelled?Wowww
Is this true?
Your gift card can be cancelled too?
How?
Nah. You paid the voucher repayment fee in the form of termimation fee. They have no grounds of cancelling it
That makes sense.
Was little spooked by comment from Telstra rep to ozb above
The store did not let me use 200 dollars voucher said it can't be used with Coupon offers
Staff wrong.
Technically it can't.
Read the JB T&C.
Just have to get the right staff or store.
Late to the party, does it mean i'm paying the following for the S25 Ultra
* 437
* 800
* 99Total being $1336 if I cancelled and couldn't get 1st month refunded?
800 = 756
It’s actually $766.59
sure, what he said.
I bought all these for a little over $40
https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/46868/119494/screensho…
The Encased case is selling about $70 on the official website for other phones
The magnetic wallet (encased case has a magnet) is selling about $12 from other sellersI buy from amazon because if anything breaks (yea, including screen protectors haha), they will refund
What is the earliest date that the phone will be available? Mine is saying the 14th?
People should start getting their phones from tomorrow
The amount of hoops and mental gymnastics now to get or understand a deal… All this brain power could solve world hunger or build a time machine lol.
OP just potted and disappeared - It's much easier if OP takes responsibility of updating the post as per comments rather just abandoning the post.
People make it harder than it has to be, not reading the OP, asking the same questions out of laziness and not reading the existing comments.
It's basically the same as all previous deals without getting a $300 GC as well.
When was there a $300 GC?
S24U and pixel 9 Pro XL/9 promos in September, look it up.
@G-rig: Nah its a bit different. No $300 GC offered due to double storage offer which is worth $200 rrp and then $200 jb voucher for those who pre-registered so technically $400 off rrp of s23U 512gb which i think is great
@G-rig: Was editing my comment:
Getting $300 GC means paying $2337 with no $200 preorder voucher and then $1700 off which sets you back $637 plus ETC and you get the $300 GC
Hi friends, i dont have jbhifi coupon. I am planning to buy s25ultra 512gb variant. Can anyone pls advise how much it will cost me total?
Tried mate..and got confused with those scenarios..thats why requesting
Try price matching with Costco you could be lucky and save 87 more :) good luck
Very rare these PM happen.
I remember i price matched my s23U witj westpac samsung store 2 years ago but had to call up and visit a few stores. Honestly saving is not worth the effort unless you drive around for a job or hobby lolYup, JB didn’t want to PM, this is from Sales manager and Telco manager at JB.
@G-rig: No only tight, no appreciating our own time value is also a habit. This is the only fair resource in the world. Rich or poor, everyone has only 24 hours a day.
I was dead set on getting S25Ultra for $237 extra I can get a better camera, however I was lucky JB rep I met said I can stack $200 pre-reg code with S25 or S25+ as well. I was told initially that I couldn't get it as gift card and I need to spend it along with paying the phone, but I only need a case and screen protector, I would still have ~$130 which I don't know what to spend on. In the end, I got the remaining credit as gift card.
If you can find JB rep who are able to do this, it makes regular S25 the best value amongst the three with $550 ETC plus bonus $200 credit/gift card. I picked S25plus because the size and the weight of the phone is just perfect for me also I couldn't justify $437 difference for the ultra.
I have the pre-registration which I thought can only be used for S25U to be stacked with telco deal, but if I can used it for S25+ then the difference will be $437.
Also in regards to pixel, even though the camera is great, but as a whole phone is not. The software is often buggy, often experience overheating, and their chipset is not flagship level. I don't have the latest Pixel 9 pro but I've already given up on Pixel unless there's a major changes with the phone hardware.
PSA: Was able to used the Optus free 7 day trial eSIM number for porting purposes, saved a trip to ALDI 😉 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/858242
nice hack!
Not eligible if you have a current optus mobile service. Otherwise good idea.
Picked up my S25 Ultra today from JB
nice!
Did they send you an email saying it's ready to pick up?
Which store?
Hopefully they send an email too. I've cancelled my number i used to port.
He said as soon as they receive stock in the shop that they can hand it out straight away
So, is this only for 512GB? What would be the whole upfront that had to be paid? Sorry if I missed it and thanks in advance to anyone willing to refresh anyone interested with what does it costs to have one and to cancel the plan.
How about for the 1TB one? Thanks.
Thanks OP! managed to get $99 off too, good bonus for myself! Just kept trying and being persistent.
Can someone confirm (only because the discount code megathread is gone) if the JB discount code is the same thing as the Samsung code GALAXY2025? I have that code in my email from Samsung but never got a code from JB.
if the JB discount code is the same thing as the Samsung code GALAXY2025?
No, different code. JB discount code is unique. You can only get it if you pre-registered on JB website before the Samsung unpacked. Not possible to get any new code now.
Can anyone confirm, if you're an existing JB Telstra customer are you able to get a new Sim and number then sign up to this deal on the same account then cancel your old plan but keep your old number and get rid of the new number?
You're mixing up a lot of things here. If you read through this thread, you would have found your answer already.
If you want your current number to have this plan, you need to port out to another provider (like Aldi) and then come back to JB. There's a caveat that JB might enforce a 30-day waiting period before you can port back in, but most JB staff are ignoring this and allowing people to sign up. This way, you can get the plan on your current number.
Additionally, if you haven't completed the term duration of your current plan, you may incur an early termination fee. You'll need to check this yourself
Cheers mate, I think that really is the most simplest method, will get on it!
Interesting lots of people saying their fee is $766, mine has been invoiced at $799.92 im going to
Contact them today and see of i can get the $99 refindedDisregard i wasnt charged $99 as i think i cancelled before they charged the monthly fee
512g s25 ultra
Total was $2137 - $1700= $437
$200 preregistration credit added
$237 paid at POSChat with telstra $800 invoice recevied
So total $1037 to be paidJust wondering did you register a new number or port in an existing number?
I am trying to find a way to claim back the $99, as the first 2 times they declined to refund the $99 to me.Mine was a new numher, throwaway aldi SIM. So you got charged already? I signed up thrn about 3 hours later cancelled and they didnt mention any access or monthly fees just id get an $800 invoice whoch indod about an hour later.
You could say that you havent used the sim so essentially it isnt acrivated and you ca t charge me a whole months access , barely even proratad amount given no usage, you could even mention TIO but you shouldn't need to go to that extent.
Side note, im worried the whole order will now cancel with JB and i wont get a phone handset haha
Has anyone successfully ported out from Lycamobile? Mine has been stuck in the port-out process for nearly 24 hours.
Question: I signed up with my own number, which I intend to keep. If I were to cancel my telstra contract, would I lose my number of will I have an opportunity to port it out to another provider?
port out and Telstra auto cancel's, you will receive invoice.
Question, do you guys mention to JB Hi-Fi that you guys intend to cancel it ? Or do you guys just sign up to JB Hi-Fi then start canceling the Telstra number an hour later through their app ?
Nope, no need, but they know whats going on they arent stupid and know ozbargain and whirlpool posts about it.
true, just dont let on and play dumb.

Gonna combine it with $200 code for pre reserve.
