[Pre Order] Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra 512GB $437 ($237 With Code) on JB 24M $99/M Plan (in-Store, Port-in Customer) @ JB Hi-Fi » All Comments

    • It does not matter. You are opting for a service and following the rules. If they have an issue, they can update their T&C.

      • The bit that "worries" me is that on the JB Hi-Fi webpage it does mention that

"The S1700 off the purchase price of a Samsung Galaxy Ultra phone (referred to as the "JB Hi-Fi Voucher" in the Telstra Terms and Conditions and replacing the dollar value of the Voucher in the Critical Information Summary) "

I know I may be reading a bit too much into it.

        • done it 8-9 times, only charged the credit in CIS (766$)

          • @ffagz: 8-9 times jesus haha. what were the telstra guys like after realising you cancelled your plan for the 9th time XD

            • +2

@Bonesaw321: I tell them my wife/kid etc bought it but realized it was 2 expensive.
              :)
Nah - theyve got like 100's of agents. never onced asked about cancelling lines.

The JBHIFI guys, you gotta watch out for - theylll know youve done the plan before (if they remeber you).
Easy fix - just got to a diff JBHIFI store :)

they remove the accounts once settled so cant see them. I noticed the JBHIFI guy's screen of my account and it only showed those services which i had (cancelled) but not settled. so as long as you clear off your previous cancellations youre good.
Only negative i can think of is if they run a credit check - that may affect yours score - but if youve already got an account in good standing i dont think they do a hard check.

Havent seen an impact -then again my score is crap…soo…

  • Can someone tell me what I should do if my port-in to Telstra from Lycamobile hasn’t been completed after 24 hours? The JB Hi-Fi staff gave me a JB SIM card and told me to come back once the port-in was successful.

    • +1

Go back to JB and ask them to sort it out.
Porting usually takes 5 minutes (word from JB)

Mine had the same issue (amaysim) but JB called me into store when they received the error report.
Resend with the correct information and was ported across within 5 minutes

  • Anyone get a call yet to pickup the phone

    • Got an email saying pick up from 14th 🤷‍♂️

    • I called them yesterday but they just said I'll text and email when the phone's ready.

    • Checked with the local store in Toowoomba. They advised they're expecting stock today and early fulfilment will commence from tomorrow.

      • Yes website says 4th
        And they will SMS

Jb Hifi Deal - S25 Ultra 512GB - Flow Chart Explaination

I am sure, its 99% correct but someone may vet it.

    @CodeXD @Duece1995 @fadzsolz @compound @G-rig @toyapple9

    • +1

      I love it haha

      The 1% incorrect

      No path figure is wrong $437 + $766 + $99 = 1,302.59

      • lolz, my sleepy mind - fixed it :)

    • +1

The yes part is the one i got however i didn't price match Costco.

Also Coles have 10% off TCN cards (until tomorrow) so you could still buy TCN JB gift cards to bring the total for S25 Ultra 512gb down an additional $23 to $980 odd.

      • Jb Hifi Deal - S25 Ultra 512GB - Flow Chart Explaination Rev-1

Added it as a Note to use GC's, Can't change the link in above comment as it's already been replied.

@Hamza @Twix Can this be added in post - thanks.

        • +1

You forgot to add the Costco pm and if someone gets $99 back 🤣

          Love the flowchart! ❤️

          • @Rakddon: 😲, is this peak of sarcasm? Both are there in the chart.

            • +1

@ChipsChicky: Nope, you have managed to get $99 back and PM Costco in the flowchart.

But you don’t have PM Costco and managed to get $99 back.

It only applies to 1 person in this deal so no issues.

        • what amount jb gc I need ? without $200 code

          • @RacingBull1: $437+$766.59 = $1,203.59

I believe that the $99 Telstra Plan Payment can't be paid with GC's.

If you manage to get PM with Costco, final value will be under $1200 but remaining balance on GC's can be used later on other things.

            • -1

@ChipsChicky: Atm @ jb they told me I can’t pay 766.59 by gift card is this correct.?

              • @RacingBull1: oh yes, I think it's Voucher Repayment Fees. I made a mistake. Did you buy GC's already? Seems I made a blunder above.

                • +1

@ChipsChicky: Almost 😅 all good mate but I appreciated you tried.!

                  • @RacingBull1: Thanks GOD, I was feeling super guilty 🤣 and your delayed response was making it worse 🤣

                    Have you bought phone?

                    • +1

@ChipsChicky: Yes was waiting if anyone could give me a code but I pulled the trigger .! It’s for my wife she is using cheap Motorolas for long time .! I want to surprise her.!

Now struggling for refund of 99.00 😂

This cost of living is killing common people.!

                • +1

@ChipsChicky: If you Really want to get ozbarginny…. the 766$ telstra payment = 7660 telstra points :) If you use telstra servcies, then thats another bit of bonus… honestly we're now just super-milking it :)

                  • @ffagz: I couldn't milk it even a bit as I don't have $200 voucher and I can't live with guilt of spending $200 extra for the ret of my life 😂

                    • @ChipsChicky: Well you can still get it, refund for GC so you're getting 2137$ worth for 437+766 = 1203. net 934 GC value of 43%

                      • @ffagz: wait, what??? Are you sure about it? If I don't open it and return it, I am gonna get $2137 GC?

                        • @ChipsChicky: That’s what folk say. I’m going to try and let you know.
The store I picked form the guy said we can’t do it if you do teleco trade in. So will try someone else :)

                          • @ffagz: Can you open your PM? Were you able to score it as you said earlier about cancellations.
I think by the time you can confirm it for s25 ultra, pre-orders will be closed?

                            • @ChipsChicky: Yes picked up my phone. Wasn’t able to refund for GC but will try another store.
You have till 14 Feb to preorder

                              • @ffagz: Oh, that's pretty quick delivery. Let me know, if you manage to return it.

                                • +1

@ChipsChicky: Will do mate. fingers crossed.

                                  • @ffagz: Any update? You managed to get gc?

                                    • @ChipsChicky: sort of - went and got iphone instead so techically yes.

                                      • @ffagz: Which iPhone you get?

Did you have to go to a few stores for JB to give you the gift card then purchase the iPhone?

                                        • @Rakddon: Yes. First store where I purchased said they can’t exchange as it’s a Samsung telco deal. Went to another one, told them got as a gift but preferred iPhone 16 pro max, so they exchanged (paid the diff).
Samsung value = 1923, iPhone 16 pro max 2147, paid the diff.
Could have gotten iPhone cheaper by price match but decided not to push it.

                                          • @ffagz: Not a bad effort, hardly ever any discounts on iPhones.

at least swapping for another new phone isn't a piss take like sitting on vouchers, and believable but you'll be spending money at JB hi-fi regardless.

                                            • @G-rig: True, was looking to upgrade the latest iPhone anyway. Could have exchanged the iPhone for GC but I think I got what I wanted.
$2147 iPhone for around $1200 not bad. But it’s a hit and miss on exchange/GC.

                                      • @ffagz: Can you share the full story? They refused to give gc and offered iphone instead? What's the value of iPhone that you got and was $2137 considered against iPhone and rest you paid from card?

                                        • @ChipsChicky: Sort of, I never tried asking for straight up gift card. I wanted the phone, but theoretically once you gott the iPhone you could exchange for a GC.

Yes. First store where I purchased said they can’t exchange as it’s a Samsung telco deal. Went to another one, told them got as a gift but preferred iPhone 16 pro max, so they exchanged (paid the diff).
Samsung value = 1923, (I had used the $200 promo - if you plan to and successfully exchange then the promo doesn’t matter as the diff would be the same) iPhone 16 pro max 2147, paid the diff.
Could have gotten iPhone cheaper by price match but decided not to push it.

                                          • @ffagz: Thanks mate, perfect, so the initial jb hifi recipt doesn't mention how payment is done i.e. telco etc, only final value i.e. $2137 or $1937?

                                            • +1

@ChipsChicky: The final recipt just shows the payment done - in my case via gift cards. Does not say anything further

                                            • +1

@ChipsChicky: It shows 1937 in my case. Anyone who didn’t use the $200 coupon would have it as $2137

                      • -2

@ffagz: Hi ffagz thinking of jumping on the deal but would want just the gift cards instead have you had any luck at a refund of GCs for the phone yet?

                        • @akma1: Folks have not been having luck. I am trying tomorrow if it does will let you know

                          • @ffagz: No worries thanks for letting me know was hoping to just get another phone instead

                            • @akma1: Same

                            • @akma1: Maybe just get the one you want to start with, much easier.

                  • @ffagz: The Telstra points is not applicable for the JB HiFi services.

                    • @andylch: yeah it is. ive been getting them, or i should say when i cancel via Telstra I did, when cancelling via JBHIFI i dont. Your mileage may vary.

                    • @andylch: When you cancel a JB or Goodguys mobile plan, the cancellation invoice is charged to your Telstra account, and you earn points for what you pay. I'm not planning to cancel this JB plan, but I did receive points when I canceled my last plan with Goodguys.

Yes, there are no points for the regular monthly $99 payments to JB or Goodguys mobile plans. If I recall correctly, getting point was discontinued about a year ago

                      • @EssendonUser: I talked to the Telstra chat tonight, and he said no points for non Telstra branded products/services

                        • @andylch: I got 7700 points when i cancelled the S24 ultra plan with Telstra. This is essentially the same deal.

    • If you price matched with Costco, wouldnt the initial payment be less than $237/$437?

      • Good catch

      • Yes, but it's highly unlikely to get PM of Costco - as there is only one report of that, so I kept it at the end of FlowChart as -$87 which will come out of either $437 or $237 eventually.

      • +1

usually they dont price match pre-orders, i asked for the two i did but got denied :/

        • They usually dont price match costco either due to the membership requirement.

    • Thats good mate - legend! - only thing to add 1700 if you port, 1600 if you get a new number. Since we are Ozbarginratz we want max - but just putting it out there
Also bonus discount if you get the GC on discount. + TRS if you are travelling and claim - but these are corner use cases.

What happens if you got charged $799.92 and no $99?

          • @TheSANegotiator22: I'm in the same boat? haven't seen many respond with having the same cancellation fee as mine which was also $799.92

Are you in SA by any chance?

Maybe its a weird SA thing lol?

            • @tkboi: Yours was also $799.92 billed? Yes in SA, not sure? Maybe others have left it longer and telstras systems have triggered the $99 first monthly fee or people have plafed sim in phone and its registered on network? I mever even put sim in and cancelled same day.

              • @TheSANegotiator22: yeah, I commented ages ago on page 9 or something saying I got billed $799.92 and no one responded.

                saw your comment and replied.

I think people are getting that $99 deducted right away?

think the main difference is mine wasn't getting billed to bit late hence no $99 immediate payment?

                • @tkboi: Ok gotcha,. Im not fussed dont need to argue about that, amd happy with the overall cost of deal :)

                  • @TheSANegotiator22: yeah same! was just genuinely interested if anyone else got charged the same haha

                • @tkboi: No, I was charged $99 straight away and upon cancellation the fees is 766. I guess it could be you cancelled immediately as waiting would kick in the start of the service. Or it could be an anamoly for you? Ive done it 9 times in past 3 months and its always 766 for the higher end Voucher.

                  • @ffagz: I checked my t&cs and it says cancellation cost 799. so no idea what's the difference

                    • @tkboi: They charge you pro rata for the service use, so for eg 1 month use = 800/24 =33.333, so we get charged 766.
The 99$ refund is a bonus

                      • @ffagz: yeah would of been better that way, but the difference with you is you got charged 99 right away where as I wasn't charged 99 till a week later (cancelled before that)

    • 'Flowchart that may or may not be correct for Gen-Z's'

  • Just got an email from JB - Your order # will be ready to collect on 14 Feb 2025!

    Ordered on 23 Jan 25

    • From which location you signed up? 14th feb is too far.

      • S.E.Melbourne

      • 14th Feb is the official release date of S25 range.

    • yeah i got the same, seemed like automated text. I called up my store and they said they should get it much earlier 4-6th feb of which they will text me with a new collection text. They said if you were early to preorder you can collect it in the early pre release.

  • After How long you guys take to cancel plan, do you port out or just straight away ask them to cancel?

    • State?

    • Hey did you receive an email previously when you pre-ordered or just the paper receipt?

      • My question too. They have given a recipt but no mobile number on it…..

      • There was an email received on the day of preorder

        • Right! Found mine thanks

  • Can preordered item be picked up from another?

  • +1

    Hi guys,
Pre ordered it in store but the lady there said you cannot stack any codes.
I have a 200$ coupon too, can I chat and get that reimbursed or is it too late ?

    • +1

Go to another JB. Chaddy and Dandenong stacked no issues. If you've already paid I think it's too late to cancel now.

      • I'll give it a shot and see what they say

  • Went to JB today
(Currently on a JB $99 plan, from an s23 deal)
Intend to keep my number and keep the contract, they said I'll need to port out and wait 30 days but the promo finishes on the 13th, so tough luck for me haha

      • -1

And then switch the account to my old number?

        • Just pretend you're getting the phone outright for ~$1k

      • +1

Yes sir! On it..trawling through them now.

    • No dont give up! Switch over to a optus esim card and wait 24hrs and go to another jbhifi store. From what ive read majority of the staff dont care about the 30 day wait. Ive done it
      Good luck!

      • Thanks Jeff! I'll give it a shot haha and will report back!

      • Jeff I did it!

New Optus esim and got the deal with JB was able to price match Costco, out of pocket $150

Then as I'm keeping the contract, I was able to get Telstra to cancel my old plan but keep my old number and switch to my new plan… Everything went smooth!

  • Question for our experts here doesn't the credit score get affected only if you delay or don't make the payment Or is it the number of credit checks while signing up to the plan?

  • -1

Wtf is a voucher repayment fee? Do you now have to pay back the gift card amount if u cancel? Plus 800 contract termination fee?

  • It was expected to collect phone from 4th Feb in JB. But now email received that collection starts from 14th Feb.

    • +1

Call jb. Mines in store, they said ill get a message tomorrow.

    • Yes I suspect that was an automated email. The website says from the 4th (Today) so could be sooner.

  • +2

Ordered 30mins before Melbourne Central closed. After the transaction was done, the girl said see you from 9am tomorrow for pickup.

    • +7

Perhaps she was impressed by your credit score and was referring to pick her up at 9am for a date ;)

      • +5

I can advise both the girl, and the phone both weren't there at 9am this morning 😭

  • -4

Is this deal still available ? Was looking for the ultra , what do you get for the $99 a month anyway? Can I still preorder? Or has it finished ?

      • Even that comment got to me too G-rig haha

  • +1

For those who are asking how did I get the $200 coupon yesterday:
I contacted JBHIFI Chat couple of days ago and they said sorry they don't send them. I told them I had in my email and I cannot find it anymore. So they sent an email telling me that they could not find my email in the list.
2 days later they sent the code to my email.
You can try your luck ! All the best.

    1. Should I go in to store (is it easier)
    2. Can I cancel it in store straight away or do I have to do it online
    3. If I get a new aldi mobile plan can they sort that out completely in store
      Thanks :)
    • posting the same questions 3 times isn't going to get you the answer any quicker

      • Sorry I didnt mean to my networkings a bit bugged and it disconnected a few times and it wasnt showing up as posted on my end

          1. Yes, you can only do it in store
          2. Cancel online with chat on telstra app
          3. Get new aldi sim, activate it before you go into jb, make sure you can receive sms before talking to them to port in
      • Why would I post it 3 times knowingly what exactly does it achieve me why are you being Unnecessarily aggressive for something that was an accident that I Wasn’t even aware of doing

        • Dunno just seemed like you weren't happy with the first lack of response. You can always unpublished the double and triple posts :).

Just seems like everyone comes along wanting to be spoon fed and not willing to read the post, visit the JB website and read it, or go back a page or two. Same questions over and over. The original post could be updated but not sure you're allowed to condone this hack explicitly.

Anyway for that reason, I'm out :).

          • @G-rig: People not trying to read anything but try fcking hard to get $99 back. Just ignore them.

            • @Dumpshid: Still a good deal. yeah done and sorted.

              • @G-rig: Yes, it is a good deal. Even thinking to sign another contract but not sure which one to get S25 or S25 ultra.

          • @G-rig: I did unpublish the first 2 (didn't know you could do that) and I did read JB's website and every single comment I was just hoping for confirmation from people who it's worked from before I spent that much money

            • @Dolphins: No worries, will be easier next time once you've done it once too (assume they don't close the loophole, so at least get one this time).

  • Can u just port out from another provider so you don't have to cancel with telstra?

    • +2

You can, but they'll still charge you cancellation fee (~$766). If you call to cancel, you can also ask to refund the $99 you paid in store.

  • +2

Just got a message that the phone is ready for collection

    • Same here

      • Did you receive an email as well?

        • No, only sms now. Email was received on the preorder day

          • @EssendonUser: Something like this - Hi <name>, order <xxx> is now ready for collection at JB Hi-Fi! Please bring your receipt and photo ID with you when you come in to collect.

    • Did you get SMS on the number you port in?

      • +1

    • Sweet just got a message too.

        • What colour you get? :D

          • @Rakddon: Black. Always had a higher resell value with black handsets

            • @easternculture: I usually get black or grey but got the hero colour (titanium blue).

This time all the others are very similar and makes little difference with a case on.

Can't really change mind on pickup yeah?

Talking about resale monster mobile only offering $600 now for S24U 256GB 👎. eBay could be worthwhile for $1200 even if have to pay fees.

              • +1

@G-rig: Nah you cannot if you used the $200 voucher cause they will have to refund and repurchace if you change colour

                • @easternculture: All good, was hard to decide but went with something different. Should be ok, only looks blue in some light but that and black will be the most popular I think

    • While you’re there can you check if they will take it back for a refund/gC credit?

      • Already at home. But when i returned my s24U last deal 6 months ago, i got the $1700 refunded on a gift card which im keeping unti we need a new fridge and washing machine

        • +1

That’s what I’m planing to do. Good to know it can work!

        • So if I return s25 ultra, will they issue a $1,700 gift card and $237 back to my card or gift card, depending on the payment method? What happens to the $200 voucher—will that be forfeited? I already ordered mine through Samsung Direct, but this one through JB is for my mom. Recently, I've been feeling that the S25 Plus model would be a better size for her. I'm considering returning and swapping it for the S25 Plus.

          • @EssendonUser: Correct $1700GC, remaining original payment

            • @easternculture: Good to know. So you only forfeit the $200 voucher? Could be a good option if I don't need top grade the phone again next year.

            • @easternculture: Picked up the phone, spoke to the rep about returning / he said if it’s part of telco we can’t. I don’t see how they could know though as the invoice just shows GC no mention of teleco.
              Keen to hear more.

              • @ffagz: Nothing to do with telco.
Just say you had a change of heart and need something with higher gb capacity

                • @easternculture: Cool will try in a few days I guess we have 30 days to refund

                • @easternculture: I just tried aswell 2 different stores they wouldn’t refund

                  • @FrugalSquid: That's milking the deal to the absolute extreme haha. guess you'll have to make up your mind and keep it.

  • Has anyone called their local store to check if they come in and collect or do you just have to wait for the text?

    • I did and they said there are people ordered before you so you will get text once it's your turn :(

      • Can confirm this. The girl that served me told me they will only release it if you got a text

        • To confirm you got a text on your main number and not the number you ported in?

  • I got an email from JB saying my phone will be ready to collect on the 14.02? Not sure if this is correct or just an auto response.

    • +5

Same but shortly after i got the sms to pickup today

    • Same. All good can wait a few days.

  • Which JB have people picked it up from?

  • -5

So i ended up with 2 invoices with different numbers.
    No IMEI on them.

When i claim TRS, do they physically have to see both phones or can i show them an empty box for second one (invoice).
Also do they record the imei number/serial on system.
    Cheers

    • Mate not trying to scared you but I would look this first.!

      https://www.ato.gov.au/about-ato/tax-avoidance/the-fight-aga…

      • -3

        Yeah probably not worth it.
Just gonna act dumb and submit both invoices for the one phone. If they give me 2 refunds , ill just act dumb.

        • Just dont act shifty and get called in for screening. Like they do on Border Secruity - though they looking mostly for food…. :) If you have a duty free allowance then you should be good to go.

    • It all depends on who is checking. Sometimes they don't check and just approved the TRS claim straight away, sometimes they will check the phone and match it with your invoice.

No, they don't record the imei number on the system

    • +1

Need phone in box for TRS?

    • Do it please, i want to see you go to jail for tax invasion. Please please do it.

      • -2

They would only give you a warning. People are doing much worse by scamming ATO hundreds of thousands in GST , doubt they would care for $172

        • That is only assuming you are bringing back in over your allowed duty. when travelling with family, the limit goes over so your mileage may vary.

      • People killing other people roam without any guilts and you expect people doing $1k fraud in jail ?

        • Only oneway to find out. Let me know the result.

          • -2

@Dumpshid: Processing me for jail will cost them more than $172 & tens of hours of non productive time that would cost them average $100/hr plus all logistical costs. Im sure they have better things to do @TRS office like getting their meal/coffee breaks on time than hours of paperwork and phone calls

            • @easternculture: Wanna try? Their expenses are not their money, it is from you TAX so why do they care how much is gonna cost them. Try it and let me know the result.

              • -1

@Dumpshid: They are aware of people who frauded the tax office hundreds of thousands of dollars and they haven't done anything about it.

                You are very delusional

Worst case scenario is a warning letter from ATO and probabaly get audited for next few years.

No magistrate would stupidly sentence someone to jail for $172.

Their expenses are not their money, it is from you TAX so why do they care how much is gonna cost them

Because all government departments are run on budgets. They are not going to spend $10k to charge someone because of $172

      • What is tax invasion. Is it when Tax invades you?

    • +1

I did TRS on a Samsung tablet recently, they just looked at the receipt and just asked if I had the tablet with me, didn't ask to see it.

      • How long after a purchase can you do TRS? I'm travelling overseas in the end of March.

      • Carrying just the phone is fine I guess. Box not needed to show?

        • +1

yes no need for the box. They inspect if you have the phone physically on you (cant put it in checked baggage).

    • +1

Don’t know. They will ask to see the item. Depends on the agent they may see in detail or just cursory look at it.

  • +2

Just got an sms and email stating collection 14 feb

    • Same, then I got sms saying ready for collection.

  • I just picked up two of my s25 ultras today. I only received the generic 14th Feb email but I called and they said they were ready to collect early. Happy Days :)

  • +2

Just called JB Vic. Can collect today

  • +2

I went to JB store directly today and they mentioned they haven't got any physical stock yet. 15 mins later after I left, got an SMS that the order is ready.

  • Hi fellow OzBargainers,
Just purchased the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra 512GB and cancelled within the hour. Received the following email from JB Hi-Fi Mobile:

    Hi Chris,

    Order reference: B25041022552***

Your request to cancel 0439014*** is complete. No further action is required.

We're sorry to see you go.

Is this the generic email everyone received when cancelling their service? Does it impact on receiving the phone?

    • +1

Nope your fine, mine was the same its just their ordering system, i did the same as you and it was golden.

      • Thank you so much for getting back to me, legend!

  • How many physical sims can fit in? Mine only have one slot

    • +1

      1

    • +1

      1 sim 1 esim

Esim more flexible as you can store approx 10 esim profiles at a given time

      • Not every provider has esim. Aldi doesn't.
Apparently some s25 ultra can fit two physical sims.

        • +1

          Probably international stock.
Aussie stock only one sim slot

  • -9

If I preorder from jb how much if I cancel?

    • +4

How lazy pal, read the thread 😂

    • +4

      $3296.99

      • Dont be mean :)

    • The cancellation fee is hard labour in the centrelink waiting rooms.

  • +4

    Just picked up my phone.
Thanks for all the help and support.
    Cheers!

  • +1

    picked up phone!
have got $99 refunded, waiting for it to go back into account.

Does anyone know how to pay off the $766.59 earlier? it says it will take it from the card I signed up with on 13/02

    • You can do it through Telstra app or you can call customer care number.

      • ok thanks ill try that

    • Yes they will auto charge in 14 days will shop in your telstra account or speak to telstra

    • Did you have to chase up for 99 dollars refund?

      • +1

I gave them 48 hours when they said my 99 dollars still pending. Once it was not pending anymore, i requested further for the refund via telstra chat

        • Yes exactly This. people have to be patient.

    • How did u get 99 refunded? From jb or online telstra?

  • Issue with getting new phone: google wallet doesn't work yet with bank cards. Says contactless not available for this device. CBA card

    • Search NFC in settings, enable.

      • Was already enabled.
        Maybe software issue?

Anyone else experiencing the same problem?

  • Hey guys, trying to cancel via the telstra app, do I need to put JB sim in my phone to activate it? When I sign in to Telstra it says I have no active services (but this may be because I used my non-ported number to register. If I try to change number it wants six digit verfication code from new ported number (from $5 Aldi sim)
Thanks in advance, first time I have done this and advice in the thread has said to cancel via Telstra app not JB app

    • +1

Don't activate the Sim. Telstra service won't show up. Just tell them you're wanting to cancel the contract using chat service. They will locate your plan.

      • Awesome, thanks

        • +2

Ok, so thanks to Deuce1995's advice I have cancelled via Telstra chat - cost of $766.59 and now have email confirming it…
but the agent would not budge on refund of the first month $99 even though sim is not activated and was only in JB-Hifi signing up around 4 hours ago
Like many others, I guess I'll have to try my luck a few times
          Thanks again Deuce1995

    • I don't think so because they(becextech) sell international models and not AU model so wouldn't qualify for price match.

      • Fwiw, I started with 'Can you match Costco price?' The answer was 'Yes but we need to take into account the cost of the membership too' even though I had a Costco card to show him (expired mind). I decided it wasn't worth it for the extra $23 saving, maybe I should have stood my ground or bartered for a usb stick etc in true OZB style?

        • Way too much effort for $23 imo but can't hurt to ask.

Having only set up the phone and not tested thoroughly, the loud speaker sounds disappointing compared to the s24u. No fidelity (less clear and crisp). Happened every time I 'upgraded' pixels from the 3xl.

  • Anyone received the S25+?

    • Yes, I picked it up yesterday.

      • +1

Damn, haven't received any notification yet. I'll give them a call

  • +2

Some photos for the punters. https://imgur.com/a/05dZTWu

I wasn't sure about this colour phone and case combo but works well I think.
Previously had the black version with the S24, great cases and grippy. The magnet is where the outer circle is.
    Hopefully the clear doesn't yellow.
I had a $10 voucher so got from ebay from Pro Gadgets.

    • Looks nice, got a link to that specific case?

Is the screen protector you have on also from the same brand?

      • +2

Cheers, used to black but something different.

        https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/335780538188

Covers are AmFilm from Amazon, $11.99 for a 2 pack. The installation template thing they provide makes it dead easy. Fingerprint works well (set up after).

        https://amzn.asia/d/5VVXrKO

        • +1

Can confirm the screen protector is top class. The camera protector however, is too big for the case that i got.

          • +1

@Sphynx: Yeah this brand of protector is my goto and pretty cheap. I am geussing the Spigen brand may a fraction of a mm narrower but this still works with the case. Aligned pretty well with the free template tool, better than can do by eye anyway.

Agree, I just throw those in the bin. Not worth it for the chance of any camera distortion/loss of clarity anyway.

          • @Sphynx: Does the Ultra retain the Armor glass's "anti reflectiveness" ?

            • @wad88: yes, so far so good!

            • +1

@wad88: Dunno, it seems fine Being a flat glass surface the phone would have some reflections anyway.
would you prefer a screen protector or smashed screen lol

    • Did you stick something on the back?

        • Cheers. When I looked initially it just showed a clear case

          • @atlas: Ah you must be new to ebay.

Stores love to have 1 listing with 5 different drop downs with 10 more options listed under each drop down haha

The case is one of the various drop down options under that clear case listing

    • I would recommend this encased falcon case, also comes with screen protector.
Its actually better than the otterbox defender on my s23U

      https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/aw/d/B0DRWC37V8/

      • +1

Would this feel a lot bulkier in hand?

        • It says the case is 2 cm thick. If true, that's pretty chunky.

          • @Grandslam: As long as it protects my phone. Dropped my phone multiple time on concrete from 1 to 1.5m high and eventually the otterbox plastic cracked, phone still intact.

        • yeah very chunky but suit people outdoors or in construction etc.
Google best cases or something. Most people want a slim one that offers max protection for that form factor.
I always get Spigen but plenty of other options around on amazon/ebay. We don't get some of the good US brands here.

I'm sure it's not the first cell phone you've bought :).

          • +1

@G-rig: Yeah, I normally go with compact cases from Spigen, Ringke or a little cheaper option as Nillkin

    • have a pic of the back?

        • with case on please

  • +8

Just edited the post, For those that have missed out on the $200 code and are trying to obtain one. As a last ditch effort, there are some that have had success by telling the JBHIFi livechat that they lost the $200 code in their email, and the livechat agent has managed to send out a new code to their email that they received the next day. It’s worth a shot if you’re desperate for a code!
    Thanks @codename47 for the tip.

    • +1

      Thanks mate. Hope this helps.
@captainspeedy also received his code in a similar way.

Just live chat with jbhifi and tell them you subscribed and lost the email where you registered. Request them to be sent to an email. They might say no but it will magically appear the next day …fingers crossed.

    • FML!!!! I didn't see this before! I went in store today and paid the $437!

Is the code specific to this phone? I'm planning to sell the Ultra to get the Pixel 9 Pro

      • Man ive had the 9pro and sold it s25 ultra is wayy better, kepts having reception issues with 9 pro. you should try to get a code and go back to the store they can probably re do the order for you adding in the code.

        • I don't want the giant S25 ultra. I was initially intending to get the s25 base, but having an s22 base didn't make sense since nothing changed in the camera.

P9P camera is much better than s25 base and not as big as the Ultra.

Plan was to get the Ultra for $437, cancel plan for $800, sell Ultra for $1900ish and use the difference toward the P9P. $200 would have made a nice difference!

          • @Jewdas90:

            I don't want the giant S25 ultra

You could also have gotten S25+ for no upfront cost and only cancel plan for $800.

            • @CodeXD: S25+ Camera is the same as the base S25. Just a bigger phone with a bigger battery. I want a better camera than my S22 which is the same as the S25.

            • @CodeXD: It actually feels a lot better than the s24u, lighter and rounded corners.

          • @Jewdas90: Selling for $1900ish is very optimistic since lots of people will be flooding marketplace with all S25 phones. Just a quick search around my area(Sydney), most people I see are advertising S25Ultra 512GB for $1800. Realistically, it will probably be sold around ~$1600ish at best. Its still a good ~$400 profit.

            • @yummypinacolada: I'm hoping I'll find one of those clueless suckers who don't check and reach my target. Sounds terrible but if it's not from me it will be from someone else. Post pre-order price says $2337 so I think once that happens it'll be a bit easier.

Then I would have to just wait for the P9P 256gb to go down a bit or on sale!

          • @Jewdas90: You know theoretically you could just return your s25 ultra when you pick it up, nothing stops you from getting a refund for the total amount on your receipt.

            • @Bonesaw321: How much free money do you get out of doing that (since eveyone else asking silly questions?

Fun hobby. Maybe next time i'll get a couple, one to test properly. I'm liking this better than the S24U but new stuff is always a bit hyped up and they continue to cheap out on the hardware.

            • @Bonesaw321: This is not a guaranteed success. I know some people have done it but most JB managers already aware of these tricks and they can check if your phone is part of telco deal. When they find out what you're trying to do, you'll be treated like a scum who just try to get free money. The experience is totally different than asking a refund through telstra chat where you can just close the chat if you get rejected.

              • @yummypinacolada: I did it on the pixel 9 pro one last year :D. Yes it’s 50/50 and can confirm they look at you like complete scum hahaha, the manager has to decide they took some time and then decided to give it to me.

                • -1

@Bonesaw321: It wasn't 50/50 in my experience, I wouldn't want to try it again even its basically free money. FYI, I've tried 6 different stores around Sydney CBD before, they all reject the refund and one of the manager even making sure that I wouldn't be able to refund or exchange the phone on any JB store by adding a note on my invoice in their system.

                  • +1

@yummypinacolada: Yeah fair point, better to do it the ethical way and sell the phone than risk being flagged in their system.

              • @yummypinacolada: We are ozbarginrats. We have no shame.

            • @Bonesaw321: incorrect i tried 2 different stores today and they said they will only refund the $237 portion and the $1700 voucher just implodes..

              • @FrugalSquid: Lol why would you return it then.
At least they aren't allowing that, total piss take, some people got away at the start of the pixel 8-9 and s24 deals.

                • @G-rig: yes a total piss take if they just keep allowing you to return it hahaha seems they closed that loophole. But honestly able to buy a just launched flagship at impossibly cheap price is still good enough for me. can always sell it or give it to relative and sell their current phone.

              • @FrugalSquid: Really, that is very scammy of them.

            • @Bonesaw321: You mean the $437 I paid? I can't get the $766 cancellation fee back…

              • @Jewdas90: No, its to refund their $1700 off as a gift card. Basically you are paying ~$800 for getting $1700 jbhifi gift card which you can use to buy Apple, Bose, or any other items which rarely goes on sale.

                • @yummypinacolada: I will try my luck with that when I go in today. Otherwise I'll hodl when the s25 ultra price goes up to post preorder price and sell it off for $2k…get the pixel for $850 ish..

                  • @Jewdas90: Dreaming no one would pay 2k to buy one (used ie. Second owner even if sealed)

                    • @G-rig: Post preorder deal it will go up to $2337. And I will provide the receipt. Don't know why they wouldn't..

                  • @Jewdas90:

s25 ultra price goes up to post preorder price and sell it off for $2k

                    AHAHAHA LOL good luck

Take a look at current prices of S25 Ultra on facebook marketplace, you'll see why

                    • @CodeXD: Lol laugh all you want, I'm very aware of the current prices on marketplace. But with a little perseverance, I believe I can find the right buyer ;)

                      • @Jewdas90: true, there is as sucker born every minute!

                  • @Jewdas90: how was it? luck in returning? Gonna go tomorrow/today.

                    • @ffagz: Nah they wouldn't do it for me. I'd probably have to try at a different store..still deciding..

                      • @Jewdas90: Aight will try if it’s a no go it’s ok. Still a good deal

                  • -1

@Jewdas90: So wife went in and got it changed for iPhone.
                    Your mileage may vary

                    • @ffagz: No wayyyy, which store?? Am hoping Sydney Metro haha

What did she do? Just take the receipt and the phone and asked to change??

                      • @Jewdas90: Galleries. Went in said she got a valentines pressent but she likes iPhone and gold. The rep was nice and helped. Manager came in and did the transaction. Helps that she bought some accessories - made it look genuine - which it was.
Asking for a GC may have been a red flag but she wanted an iPhone anyway.
My Samsung coming form Samsung store anyways…

I look like an ozrat and they would have smelled me a mile away 😂

                        • @ffagz: GG! Well I'm female and the JB guys in Moore Park wouldn't let me swap it for the P9P. Am in the city on Monday so may give that a go haha.

                          • @Jewdas90: Gotta jump on those pre-orders at the time too.
Wouldn't be the best deal now anyway.

I was going to get one last time but got sick of waiting when the s24u plan cancellation hack came out.

                            • @G-rig: My S22 had no issues then. Only reason I'm looking at a new phone. Also want something that takes better moving shots coz I have a dog lol

                          • @Jewdas90: Ah yeah do that, they tend to me nicer in the CBD/City, and more snarky further out you go. Just Kidding, could be random thing.

                          • @Jewdas90: Now that is weird! Pixels are usually discounted themselves.

                        • @ffagz: Hey did your wife got the S25U from JB Galleries as well thus return and swap to iPhone on the same JB store? Cheers

      • did you pick up the phone yet ? if not show them the code and ask them to stack it. I just did it.

        • I haven't, but they said they have to refund then re do the sale with the coupon.

          • -1

@Jewdas90: Just chat with jbhifi online chat and see if your phone is ready to pick up. Normally, they will say yes it is. Go to jbhifi store and explain that you had a code but staff did not know how to stack it. So your phone will be handed to you and they will refund the $200 to you by creating some new order. New order generally puts you last in the queue for Phone allocation but they do bypass it via some support IT ticket. I hope that helps

            • +1

@codename47: Yep already got the code through chat and redid the order in store :)

              • @Jewdas90: dija get another 200$ voucher code?

                • @ffagz: No just the one that I've used. I hadn't actually registered but they sent it to me anyway

    • +3

I can confirm, after this comment, I reached out to live chat stating "I didn't receive my preorder code to my email". They transferred me through to customer support, who asked for what email I registered with. Gave them my email, and he said the team would look into it and come back to me. About 2 hours later, I've received a code to my email.

      Cheers!

      • +1

woah thats soo good to hear it worked :)!

    • I still have my $20 coupon that I bought, the one that gives $100 discount. Does this work at jbhifi?

Also does the galaxy2025 code work? Because that was the only $200 code

  • Been trying to get the $99 refunded with 4 agents now and nothing via chat… Anyone have any luck?

    • Yes, just did it through the Telstra website on my laptop, and it went through

      • strange anything specific to say?

        • I just used a template from another person in this topic.
You can also check the past payments from JBmobile website and make sure the payment for $99 one is not showing pending then make the request again from Telstra website.

I have finished requesting the cancellation of the $99 24-month JB Hi-Fi plan for service number xxxxxxx. Could you please refund the $99? I haven't even inserted the SIM into the phone or used the service.

    • I had the same response after two attempts then asked to speak with the complaints department. Totally different team.
I advised them that I was happy to pay the $800 instead of $766.67 but to refund me the first month as I had not even used the product and that I cancelled it immediately.
After two days, received an email to advise that I would be getting a refund. They kept the voucher fee at $766.67.

      • In my case, they accepted the refund without asking anything else. I received both a text notification and an email confirming after they confirmed the refund immediately.

      • Weird, mine is only $766.59
        https://imgur.com/a/g2WQ84A

        • +1

Nothing weird about it, you would have paid $99 upfront instore.

          • @G-rig: The thing I find weird here is why there is an 8 cent discrepancy. Some people got $766.59, and some got $766.67. I don't think it's related to the $99 upfront.

            • +1

@Pharos: Who cares it's close enough, although this is Ozbargain (and people are probably quoting it wrong or rounding).
I calculated it and posted above, sounds right.

            • +1

@Pharos: $766.67 is theoretically the cancellation fee ($800 / 24 * 23) but for some reason it is invoiced at $799.92 which makes it $766.59.

  • -1

Apologies in advance.. just confirming if I cancel the contract, I don't have to pay the voucher fee back .. yes?

    • Yes you do.

  • Folks.. just cancelled my service and got the $99 refund, despite using it for a fortnight. Should i have received an invoice for payment or a notification for payment if balance? Just stressing out a bit as ive never done this before.

    • relax, if they confirmed it will come.

      • Thanks. Just to be clear i wasnt stressed about the $99, it was about the invoice for the ETC. Finally fot that last night so, all good.

  • So the unethical/fraud method would be:

    1. Buy $5 Aldi sim card and get $10 JB perks voucher using the phone number
    2. Sign up for $1700 off port in deal and get the 1TB version
    3. Ask Telstra chat to refund $99
    4. Claim TRS off phone cost $2537 and get $230 back
    5. Return the phone unopened to JB

    Total cost would be $5 sim card + $766.59 cancellation fee - $230 TRS refund = $541.59

What you get is $1700 JB gift card + $10 perks voucher + ATO knocking your door comes tax time

      • Doubt that. For every OzBRat there are 10 who will follow the book. Samsung/Telstra/JBHifi make their money

    • +3

The unethical bit would be to undertake 4 & 5 together. The rest is completely within the rules as it is allowed by JBHIFI.

      • Technically no 3 is also unethical, because its already stated in the beginning that we can't refund the initial payment.

        • Possibly, they can opt to refuse refund. In the end jbhifi will still earn the spend as refund is to a gift card and not cash.

  • Wasn't aware it was $1600 for a new number until everything was finalised, and they weren't able to find the button to process the $1700 gift card. Ah well. Got the $99 refunded via chat a moment ago instead, so I'd say it was pretty even all things considered.

  • +1

Howdy. Thanks for the post and worked a treat yesterday.
Wondering for those that got their phone AND cancelled their sim - how did you get notification phone was ready? I received the email and sms that order was confirmed but historically havent received information click and collect is ready by email.
Also how long roughly from ordering did you receive heads up phone is ready for pick up?

    Thanks yall

    • It sounds like you ported your main number, either keep it around for just less than a month and then cancel/downgrade plan/port out to make the most of the upfront $99 charge, or port out to another provider asap.

Porting out achieves the same thing as cancelling, but a lot of people either port with numbers they don't care about or just get a new number, so cancellation doesn't matter to them.

      • Ahh i should clarify. I bought an aldi sim, ported that number over and it was used as the order number.
I went home and cancelled with telstra and got the $99 refunded luckily but assuming JB would text this number when order is ready for pick up?

    • You contact JB to suggest them change the phone number to receive notifications.

  • Can I please confirm you cancel with JB mobile then ask for the $99 refund via Telstra chat? Bit confused.

    • +1

You can do both via Telstra chat.

      • +1

        Thanks

  • +1

Just convinced them to refund my $99! Through the JB app I went to the payment assistance area instead of the cancellation area.

    • +1

Well done. Jbhifi almost never accept refund

  • Hi just want to clarify, if I were to take on this deal, port in my current number, and port out after a month it would be an $800 cancellation fee?

    Cheers

    • Itd be less i think cause youve used a month of
Either way, i cancelled the day of signing up to phone plan and was only charged 766.

      • Cheers! Thinking I might stick with it for a month or two and port out later. Just trying to get my hands on a preorder code now.

  • Can someone explain to me which code is the $200 code? Is it the one where you pay $20 to get a coupon?

    • JB and Samsung online operate as two different point-of-sale systems.
The $200 mentioned here refers to a JB coupon code for pre-registering your interest in the S25 series pre-order. On the other hand, paying $20 for a $100 worth coupon was for Samsung online.

These coupons are not interchangeable between the two stores

      • Damn.

        Thank you.

The JB deal is more expensive than the Harvey normal deal by $400 over 24 months though with Harvey Norman its $750 upfront.

  • +2

Have you ordered the phone without coupon ? But you got the coupon now ?

    No Problems!!

    Another TIP :

Go to store and tell them you were not aware you could stack it as per the store guy.

They will re do the order and refund you the $200

    Just got mine done

    Happy Days

    • Jb staff stuffed up my $200 refund by finalising the sale even after telling him the comments here to redo the sale. Now he is trying to cover up his failure by saying it should have been applied when I first applied for the plan. Bummer

      • Unfortunately not all jb staff (including the manager) know how to stack the 200 to s25 and s25+ phones and give 200 gift card even when they saw on their screen that it is stackable! They kept saying it's only stackable on the ultra. So I just upgraded to ultra 😂. I guess they were not trained. First they said it's not stackable then I told them to check the deals info on their system which says it's stackable!! They looked and I proved them wrong but they still kept saying it's only stackable if there's an amount payable for the phone. I even told them many people have received their 200 giftcard and I've confirmed with another branch that it is stackable (unfortunately that other branch is out of my way). Still good value so

        • Don't even have to tell them. The store I went to didn't seem to know what the $200 voucher even is. When paying at the counter tell them you have a voucher, they'll type it in and reduce it by $200. They will say you have $1187 remaining to pay, and then use $1387 gift card and give it back with $200 left on it.

This worked with S25, not sure about S25+ but I assume same thing.

          • @CodeXD: These people I dealt with today would probably say there is 0 left to pay blah blah lol
5 staff tried to figure out what I was trying to say, 😑
Also problem is I got my code after I ordered so i had to tell them what the 200 voucher is

          • @CodeXD: So the final price is $520 - $200 = $320? (if $79 can be refunded)

            • @andylch: I have no idea where you got the $520 from lol

              • @CodeXD: $~520 = termination fee
(full termination fee is $550 for $79 plan)

        • Need to apply the $200 voucher before scanning the $1700 gift card for it to work

          • @Duece1995: You can ask them to recreate the invoice also.

            • @Pharos: Yeh there is certainly a way but cannot force them if they don't want to try unfortunately!

              • @bargaingalor3: Refuse to pay for the order. Tell them the discount coupon wasn't applied as promised for pre registration.

            • @Pharos: Happened to me. They just cancelled the order and reversed the transaction and re-entered it.

      • Jb chat guy didn’t even know which code is it? Kept asking for the screenshot or web link…

  • This phone will be unlocked I take it?

    • @Brendan86

      YES will be unlocked.

Only prepaid phones are generally locked.

  • +3

I can also confirm that I got a new preorder code hours after contacting JB HiFi via Live chat too

    • What did you tell them if you dont mind me asking, told them i couldn’t find it in my email and they said they need to check with their marketing team and they'll get back to me. This was yesterday btw.

      • I tried and got denied, their excuse was I didn't have a JB Perks account at the time of the promo.

Worth shooting your shot, sadly no luck for me

        • I tried too. Same thing they claim not Perks account and no code.

  • Just curious, as it seems many churn through such deals, from gift cards to mobile phones. When jb ask if you have a telstra account or not, do you just keep using your existing one, where you've been joining up and cancel consecutively?
Because you can't actually create a new id, without a new number i suppose, which links to that new number. Or it doesnt even matter that you keep using the same, and cancel etc? Because my last message to telstra was literally to cancel the same plan….just months ago.

    • +1

done it 9 times in 3 months. gone through each time.

      • Same. 9 times since november.

        • Do you just cancel straight away and pay the cancellation fee?

  • +2

I convinced JB online chat to provide me with a $200 coupon code today. I just played dumb and apologetic. One hour later, I had a code emailed to me! I had already picked up my device, however, I went back into the store, and the Manager was more than happy to apply that coupon code to my order. He refunded $200 back to my card and used the coupon to pay the difference. This was also stacked with a Costco price match. I didn't even need to bring the phone in. I guess it's worth a try.

    • Did you have a JB perks account already? I got pushed back on live chat cause I didn't..

      • +2

I did have an account. Sorry to hear, maybe try again with someone else. They might be more chill.

  • Happy to say I picked up my device today - 512Gb in Titanium Blue, Ebay auction for S24U 1Tb is doing well and a few days left to go.
Re case recommendations - I used the ESR case and lens protectors on my S24U, <$30 for both on Amazon and they are great so had the same delivered yesterday for the new phone, magSafe compatible etc. but sadly no kickstand on the S25 version but maybe they'll bring it out soon, clear colour nicely shows off the titanium blue 👌

  • For those who got the phone and have used it, how's your experience with the Ultra phone? I preordered S25 and still waiting.

S25 Ultra is 218 g in weight and has display size 6.9 inches … My current phone is 6.7 inches. Don't you think the Ultra is too big and heavy for daily use?

    • +1

Try it out at the store

    • Depends what you are used to. It feels a lot better in hand and pocket than s24u, and lighter. If you want a smaller phone get a pixel 9 Pro.

I think it's fine by no risk to go and look at them for yourself.

      • Its heavier then s22ultra!

        • The galaxy s2 was nice and light, last Samsung I had before the 24. Was cool carrying a spare battery and snapping the back off the phone.

          Ergonomics much better s25>s24

  • S25 ultra 512gb or 16 pro max 256gb?

    • Well do you have other apple stuff, iTunes and in the ecosystem ?

      • I personally use iPhone but I was thinking about getting it as a gift for someone who isn’t tied to apple ecosystem

    • +1

If apple fan boy, pro max.
      If sammy fan boy, ultra

      • +1

        That’s an easy decision :)

      • I’m both so I got both

  • Btw my mate was able to get assistance from JB for the $99 monthly fee refund, just go into the store and they'll be able to give advice.

  • Hi I went in yesterday and paid the $99 + $437 but won’t get phone until next week as not in stock

They activated my burner sim there and then I asked could I wait to activate it until when get phone he said has be done now.. Anyway is it still possible for me to get the $99 refund or at least try and how do I go about it?

    Thanks

    • SIM must be activated before you can use $1700 coupon.
Try requesting a refund of $99 via chat with Telstra.(After you have cancelled)

      • The sim is activated where do I cancel? Should I wait to cancel until I get my phone next week?

          • @G-rig: My Telstra account (app/web) doesn't list the new service. I can however see it if I login via https://jbmobile.jbhifi.com.au/services.

Do I still cancel via Telstra app?

          • @G-rig: Hi @G-rig
            How did you get refund.

I signed up yesterday, tried two different consultants on Telstra chat both kept rubbing jbhifi plan's TC&cs on my face.

I even chatted to one supervisor, he said same then sent me email saying sorry we couldn't help you to give you refund, you can contact TIO if you are not happy with the outcome

I haven't cancelled service yet as I thought if I cancel before them agreeing for refund of $99, I wouldn't be able to do it later.

            Any guidance is appreciated mate

            • @OzbHere: Have you canceled your $99 24 month plan? If so, use the template I mentioned to get your $99 back.
              https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/16233572/redir

              • @Pharos: Thanks @Pharos
I haven't tried template but I have reached out to Telstra and JB chat to 4 different people including Team leader

No success 😔 in getting first month refunded

JB leader had put note on my account for decline of refund request 😞

Where exactly on Telstra website you used this template? Also where you logged in?

      • Hi @phanquy

        • You need to cancel first and speak with them

  • Pre-ordered on the 4th, not yet received the collection text :(

Anyone else in a similar boat?

    • Worth giving them a call maybe they received the stock but haven’t got around to contacting you.

    • Go into store - I hadn't received text but went in and reception told me that if I hadn't received it most likely wasn't ready - I asked her to have a look as I heard other people were getting it without texts and moments later, guess what - the phone was ready.

Went into JB yesterday, got the phone and the refund all went very smoothly via the Telstra chat, including the $99 refund.
Massive thank you to the community here that take the time to comment and answer questions. Made the process very easy. Cheers!

      • Hey mate,

When I was on the Telstra chat, I mentioned that I have not yet used the sim, haven't used any data/calls as it is no longer needed. I stated my work is supplying us phones next week, free of charge to employees so this plan is no longer needed.

I then asked if I cancel the plan, is there a termination fee or how does this work (acting a bit dumb to get some information out - makes you look like this isn't preplanned).

They went through and said yes, the service hasn't been used so the refund will be no issues at all.

However, my friend today has had the same experience you have had. He said he spoke with the JB chat and got the refund though.

Hi, I'm about to go to JB tomorrow, I got an Aldi Burner Sim and activated it, I received the sms already but I'm not sure if I'm supposed to put the card in my phone to actually "activate" it. Anyone knows if I can just go in without using the card? Also, if we're meant to cancel with Telstra, does that mean we don't have to ask/mention to the JB salesperson about the refund fee? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks. 😊

      • Oh! Thanks for the heads up! Just waiting on my luck to receive the 200 bucks voucher. When I purchase the phone, can I just pretend like I'm going through with the plan and not ask about cancelling? Or do I have to confirm with the sales person how much the fee is to cancel the plan?

        • +1

Do not mention anything about cancellation to them

          • @CodeXD: Awesome! So just to confirm, put the Aldi sim card in my phone to port the number, get them to use my current phone number for contact purposes, don't mention anything about cancelling, get home and cancel through Telstra? Thanks a bunch for the advices!

  • Put the phone up on marketplace at $1700 brand new, sealed without a single bite. I know the market is saturated, but is there really NO demand for this phone from anyone?? haha

    • It's been up for less than 24 hours and you're already complaining? Lol marketplace want you to pay for exposure so it might not have reached those looking for it yet.

Some ads look spamming where they don't have an actual photo of the product, not even box, and only use stock photos from manufacturer website. I instantly ignore those

      • Exactly, fwiw, I'm keeping my s24 ultra. No need to upgrade especially with reduced Spen features. This S25 phone essentially is an S25+ phone now. It's lost its unique Bluetooth Spen functionality.

Any new features will most likely come across to the S24 in the next update.

          • @G-rig: Fair enough. If you prefer the feel for basically a free upgrade from S24 ultra why not. Personally I use the Spen function regularly so as i result decided to sell the S25 and keep $600 profit.

    • +3

Its not because there's no demand, but there's too much supply and people are expecting too much value for an Android phone(these might work differently with iPhone, but you won't be able to get it in the first place). These kind of pre-order deal keep coming every ~3-4 months for every new released phone, surely most buyers from Ozbargain keep buying phones to re-sell not for personal use. Its still a very good profit for the amount of work that you put in, lets say you sell the phone quickly for $1400 you still have $400 profit for around half day of work.

    • Would you pay $1700 for it when you can still pre-order it for less within this deal? Probably why.

    • gah i was looking at selling too. doesnt sound like its as easy to sell as iphone! zzz

Cancelled my Plan and got the Refund for Plan ($99) as well.

    • Hi @codename47

      How did you get refund.

      • Got it refunded via jbhifi mobile chat. Telstra chat was useless.
Step 1 will be cancelling your phone plan.
Just told them I have not even taken sim card out. So they did refund it :)

    Bookmarked 🙂👌❤️

Wow 17 pages to go through, anyone have a short short summary lolz 😆

  • Went in today , preordered the s25 ultra asked for a jet black, guy went out the back and got my phone .

He gave me a SIM card and the phone and I ended up paying $437 - wasn’t asked to pay the $99 , no coupon unfortunately.

He mentioned I needed to activate the sim or the service would be automatically cancelled .

I have an email from Optus saying sorry we are loosing you and Telstra welcome.

Went to my Telstra account the service isn’t there

Anyone else had this scenario ?

Btw anyone that has an ESim compatible phone, I signed up to Optus eSIM for free through there Optus app , no need to go get a physical sim u less you have old phones

    • Something doesn't add up. Before they give you the voucher for the discount you need to put your CC details and run the credit check.
If that doesn't happen then there's been a serious error along the way by the sounds.

      • He probably had his CC details already saved from a previous jb telstra deal

      • Mine? I already had a Telstra account with the credit card it just had to be updated , but I haven’t been charged for a month yet, do they take it out when the phone is active?

  • anyone have an actual photo of Titanium Silver?

      • Yeah, only so much YouTube shows.

JB had only blue and grey in the S25 ultra

    • I have the titanium grey & the titanium white silver. Both of them look absolutely stunning, grey looks more sleeker and stealthy white is more flashier but very elegant

  • +1

Wow wow wow what just happened

I cancelled 2 numbers last week and asked Tesltra to refund $99. I don't how this person screwed up but just received different emails with credit notes:

    1) 2 x $99 refund
    2) 2 x $766.59 credit for ETC which is due in next few days
    3) 1 x $766.59 refund for last year ETC for another plan

I thought it was scam but they are also appearing in Telstra/JB hifi App.

    • That will be lucky if that goes through .

    • Great work!
      Lucky you

    • Lol.
Probably a human error that will be corrected.
The credits have to be approved by a manager as far as im aware.. but hard to justify reversing the credits after they applied them.

    • +1

wow nice thats so lucky, also id be careful about spending the 766 money, even if they mistakenly refunded you that they have every right to get it back. you would be extremely lucky if they let it slide though.

  • So the CIS was updated? Anyone know if the new full-voucher-repayment terms are being enforced or can it still be had for $1037 outright?

    • Who said it has been? Just checked the link from the JB site:

      https://www.telstra.com.au/help/critical-information-summari…

No doubt they will sometime though, otherwise this isn't much of a deal.

      • Yeah it's there in that link:

What happens when I cancel my plan early?

You’ll need to repay Telstra for any vouchers you received when you purchased your plan. The Voucher Repayment Fee (if applicable) is pro-rated, equal to the total amount of the base voucher divided by 24 and multiplied by months (or part months) remaining in your plan term.

        • Still says $800 in the table ¯_(ツ)_/¯

          • @G-rig: Ahhh right, well hopefully still works then.

  • Can I still get the $200 pre-order code? Do I need to sign up to JB Perks?

    • +1

Too late now. Best option is to request a code from the mega thread listed above.

      • Thanks. Is requesting a code using someone else's code they won't be using? Do you just bring it in store?

        • +1

Correct, just advise them you have a $200 pre-release coupon you signed up to fit the S25 series.

          • @Duece1995: Do you think if I walk in to the store and give them the code Galaxy2025 they will accept it?

            • @BluebirdV: No that is Samsung code nothing to do with jb

  • Hi anyone knows if they will be able to post the phone or do we have to pick it up in store? Thanks

      • Thought id ask here first cos that would decide which store i go to. Im in the city today, but my nearest store from home is 1.5 hours away.

          • @G-rig: Ah they have the phone in store so i can just pick it up sweet!

  • +2

Just sold my s23 ultra 512gb Phantom Black to CEX for $849 which is going towards the ETC for the s25U
Not bad for a 2 year old phone

    • +1

You did well! I sold it on FB marketplace for $750 after 2.2 years of use

    • That's a really good deal, how did you get that? anything special? I'm going to try this with my local CEX

      • Who is CEX?

      • Needs to have original box/usb c cable and be in Excellent condition to be classified as A stock

        • Sweet

          Tick tick tick

Will engage them when I get the s25

          • @MonkeyMagic3: You can book online now.
They will honor the price for 3 days (drop off option) or 10 days (delivery option)

I wouldnt wait that long as they could drop the price anytime

    • Only your store will be able to answer that. No point asking OB because each store is different.

  • Did anyone else notice upon cancelling the following:

Say their order number for the contract is "B12345678", when this is cancelled - the order number is completely different numbers, like "B9834792"

In my telstra account activity it was still "in progress" before and after when I cancelled my service.

I only gave them my number to cancel, they don't even ask anything and I didn't even receive a tax invoice either yet….

    • +1

They put it through as a 'cancellation order' so unique to your cancellation.

      • Ahh gotcha thanks for that!

  • For those still going to preorder, providing heads up to ask for costco price match.

Dont want to say store here in case get my jb sales person gets in trouble but she told me JB were price matching costco.

So got the 1tb for 2,399

    • Mine couldn’t as he said they have to sell it to you at RRP as part of the terms

He also sounded like one of the managers as he was asking people what to do

      • Yeah, looks like hit and miss, but my point is you should ask PM regardless. But in the end it's a discretion thing.

        • I asked from 3 stores and they said no

          • @bargaingalor3: I wrnt back to same store yesterday and adked different sales person and she said no orice match, so really comes down to finidng the right sales person

  • Has anyone tested their cameras yet.
Interesting comparison with the S24U against the S25U.

Anyone actually going to be staying on the $99 plan and not cancel it?
The differences from cancelling the plan or reasons to not do this I see as being
-$1400 over 24 months $58~ dollars per month for 300GB p/m telstra network. (compare to $350 for prepaid telstra per year without discounts $700~ over 24 months.. any other plans compare or options you'll be using on the device?)
-being one of the few options that allow esim connections to work on samsung watches with LTE (+$5 a month i recall)
    - Not impacting your credit rating.
    ?good tax deduction

    Anything else I'm missing?

If you're a big user it might be the way, considering it…

      • True, probably a very niche use case for people to be chewing that much data.
I do work/drive remotely a lot so telstra is a must - assume the $160 is voda or optus. quick search seems telstra network can be had for around ~250 on sale per year.

So really paying ~$900 extra for the big data, the watch I can see myself making use of.
The credit rating hit, anyone have issues from this?
        Anything else I missed?
        hmm

    • I’m keeping it for just one reason - its my official number and can claim it to my employer. I barely use it otherwise.

    • I'm keeping it, to offset the extra $99 I cancelled my $99 per month nbn which was very flakey, dropouts daily, and so keeping this as my replacement home internet. Popped the sim from this deal into my Nighthawk 6 Pro 5G router, router now feeds my Eero home mesh. Working perfectly fine so far. No drop outs whatsoever. I use nowhere near 300 gigs per month. If it works well, I'll keep it, if not, I'll just cancel it later and pay the remaining balance of the $800

      • nbn which was very flakey

Sounds like a bandaid solution, what nbn do you have? FTTC? Might be worth seeing if there is any upgrade available. You weren't using 300gb per month due to how bad the nbn was, but now with good internet, you might end up going through it.

        • I cancelled my NBN in Jan, when this deal landed, and with all my other JB Hifi numbers, my main number, wifeys number, and the sim in the car (4 in total now), we have a combined pool of 565GB. Just checked, since I cancelled my NBN, we've used just over 200GB in just under 3 weeks. I think we'll be alright.

More than 600 Mbps down, 60 up, and no drop outs in about 3 weeks. And in 12 months time, I can just cancel this number, as it's just used for data, pay the ~$400 penalty and get the S26 Ultra on the next deal. I'd say it's better than a bandaid solution

I went to the store and bought the phone today. Here is what did.
    - On the jb hifi chat I said, I signed up for the code but it never arrived, my friend did and he got it. I got the code in email after 2 hours.

-Went to the store tell him everything, also I am going to cancel it in first month, he said the maximum repayment is 800, (he also told me that JB hifi upsized that to 1700, so even though you get 1700 voucher it goes down in the policy as 800).
-Applied 200$ voucher I got from chat
    -Got the phone instantly.
-Cancelled my plan while in store after getting my phone. Got the email saying 766.59 charge for cancellation.
-However after cancellation I started a new chat asked for the refund of 99$ but the agent told me I need to wait for 48 hours as the payment just went in today and chat back again for the refund.

Wanted to check if everyone else waited 48 hours to get the refund ? or was able to get it instantly.

    • I cancelled 10hrs after signing up and the guy on the Telstra chat said I'll get the refund, too.
It's still showing as pending in my bank account.
Not sure if that'll work.l but I have the chat reference number just in case.

    • Update: Got the 99$ refund confirmation, will reflect in bank in 3 4 days.

  • Any chance we'll see a better $1000 bonus gift voucher deal? Or is this discount off the phone basically the equivalent

  • Can i ask , where do i cancel my telstra plan, telstra llive chat or jbhifi live chat ?

    • Try jbhifi mobile chat first

  • Has anyone tried purchasing multiple phones and been successful?

  • +1

Just wanted to post to say thanks to many top contributors into this thread, so much helpful information, and some who even go out of there way to help even more so.

Been non stop going through the pages to find key notes, everything one needs is here, so if one is iffy/worried about going through the process, don't be.

I've already cancelled my plan, now just waiting for the phone.

  • What is the amount on the tax invoice at the end of the day? Assuming cancellation?

    • 2137 without code. 1937 with code.

      • This is what you got?

  • Anyone else has issues signing up to multiple accounts after having cancelled their first one?

My mate went in over weekend having signed up to one last week and apparently flagged in system and could not do another. 😂

    • Did his cancellation fee payment clear yet? If not then that's probably why

      • Nah still got 2 weeks for payment to go through

        • Thought you can do 3 connections per person??

          • @Mr RS: Yes you can but you can't owe Telstra any amount , new applications will get rejected. Happened to me 😂

            • @bargaingalor3: Ahhh I see… so when they bring you up it shows you owe 763( or whatever the amount is) and then can’t process?

              • @Mr RS: Yep correct. I spoke to Telstra and jbmobile about it.
The staff at JB store said I won't be able to reapply for a few months and that jbs system won't be able to even open my records to process it. And also said to call Telstra to possibly get the decision reversed. Everything he said was not correct. I paid and asked another branch to check if they can access my records and they could. This other branch even said he can do credit check to see if I can get another without affecting my credit score??? Don't know if that second bit is true

                • @bargaingalor3: First JB mobile said I can reapply whenever. The next jbmobile said 3months but to check in-store
No one knows what's going on 😂😂

        • You can chat jbmobile and tell them to process payment now. Might take a few days to clear. It's dumb how their invoice doesn't have payment details.

          • @bargaingalor3: Ah that sucks… even if did that be too late to sign up to another.

            • @Mr RS: When I got jb staff to check my records, my payment was still pending. He said he thinks it should go through but I opted to wait til next week to be sure. Maybe worth a try whilst payment is pending if your mate wants another phone

  • Seem like JB Hi-Fi chat found out, they’re asking for the email to verify due to a known fraud case on OzBargain.

Hi there. Can you please provide us with the email this was sent to? As there is a known case of potential fraud circulating around the site OzBargain, we will have to verify this before we can proceed, thank you for your understanding.

    • -1

What fraud? Nothing illegal about it.

      • It seems like too many people were pretending not to receive the $200 preorder coupon code and kept asking for new ones. If that were truly the case, the marketing team would have been held accountable in some way.

        • Wasn't it available to everyone to pre-register?

          • @Duece1995: I'm not sure, that's just how they responded to me. It will be more strict now to get the preorder coupon code. If you really registered earlier, you still have a chance to receive the new code.

          • +1

@Duece1995: It was, but people are saying they didnt get the voucher when they didnt even register for it so could be considered fraud.
"The Commonwealth Fraud and Corruption Control Framework defines fraud as ‘dishonestly obtaining (including attempting to obtain) a gain or benefit, or causing a loss or risk of loss, by deception or other means’."

    • yeh. I was asked email and she said, I've never requested one so cannot get a new one.

  • -1

If I dont want a s25 ultra, how hard is it to sell? This could be a cheap high data plan

  • I've tried over 2 days to get the voucher via jbhifi chat but have been unsuccesful.

They said yesterday that the code could be gotten by going in store and doing a credit check since it required a credit check to be sent out? The chick on the live chat said it would be applied as a discount to the monthly cost of the phone plan. i.e 200 dollar savings per month/24 months which is straight up wrong could see in store that it was a box they needed to tick and read here that others get it as a discount.

At the store the guy looked up the code, saw it existed, but didnt apply it and said he didnt know the code as they dont keep them in the store. He said even employees who had just bought the phone in store didnt use the code since they didnt have it - unsure if true.

Tried with a second bloke online he said they have limited visibility into my account, the code needs to be gotten in store, and to call a number for their "dedicated team" for it. He did say they can generate it in store and to ask for them to make one since it is a physical voucher.

  • Just noticed that s25U supports 2 active esims at the same time. The s23U only supported one esim and one physical sim at the same time

    • So if you have 2 esim and physical sim does all 3 stay active?

      • Still only 2 active numbers at a time

  • a quick scan of fb marketplace looks like there are a lot of s25s for sale already! lol

    • Not a good time to sell samsung S2X phones at the moment

      • +3

Wait until the JB deal ends and the S25U 512 gb goes back to $2300+

    • Ya for sure.

  • Another thing i noticed with s25U is it has automatic phone call recording. There is a recording button on screen, press it, it plays a message to person on the other end that call is being recorded and they can ask you to turn off .

    Really loving these new features

    • +2

It's rubbish actually as it lets the other party know they're being recorded. I suggest looking up Cube ACR in Galaxy Store which does proper call recording - it even records WhatsApp.

      • More a legal issue, in some states both parties need to be aware if a call is being recorded, (though in QLD only one).

      • As above. Its a legality issue. Its useful when a company makes you an offer, you can ask them to say it while you record it.

Re cube acr, they have a disclaimer

        ※Legal notice
The legislation regarding phone call recording varies in different countries and states. Please, make sure that you're not breaking the legislation of your or your callee/caller country. Always notify the callee/caller that your conversation will be recorded and ask for their permission.

    Here is my experience guys.
Got a $5 Aldi SIM and got a new number last weekend.
Requested a code from live chat and received it after 2 days. Told them it was lost so they re-issued me a new one for the $200 pre-launch code.
Went into JB Top Ryde. Signed up and gave me the $1700 GC.
Went to pay and they applied the $1700 + $200 discounts. They requested to see the email from JB for the code. They guy could not apply it but he grabbed his manager and she applied it. Only Paid $237.
I asked for PM with Costco but the guy refused it as it's a membership shop and said they can't PM with Costco. I did not make a fuss about that.
I asked when can I pick up, they said maybe they will get stock in a week time.
Went to grab a case for the phone and when I came to pay, I asked another rep about the ETA and she also said in one week. I said I am buying it as my birthday present which is today. She checked with JB Macquarie centre and they had stock. She bounced the order to them and went and picked it up.

I just completed the chat with Telstra and they processed the cancellation and charged me $766.59 and asked about the $99 and they processed that too.

    Total cost: $5 sim card + $237 phone + $766.59 cancellation + $38.50 case

Cheers guys for all your comments and guidance.

    • How did you get them to issue a pre-launch code? the agent I was dealing with asked me what email did i use and straightway declined saying I did not register for the event.

      • Sounds like it might be too late to get one now.

        • Really cracking down.
Mate said they hadn't heard of this coupon and to show the email from JB.

Luckily he did have the email or they " may" have said too bad no extra 200 here)

        • haha. possibly. I wonder if those who successfully used one coupon, can actually get another issued since they did actually register for an event.

          • +1

@TheWhizz: People were saying they lost theirs, so logically JB will provide the same code.

      • Chat with Jbhifi rep. Sign up a new account with Perks.
Tell them that email address and say I did not receive a code. Say yes I did register it but cannot seem to find any.
They will send it to you in few hours. I gave that TIP a few days ago when I had to get one :D

        • I tried to chat with them and they said my account didn't register for the event. So they did not send me the code

          • @catbaby: Signup to Perks
Chat with them and tell them I did register but I am not sure if it was submitted?
Can you please help me with the code?
            This worked yesterday

            • @codename47: I actually also did like you said with my partner's email but they said my email is not registered for pre order code

              • @catbaby: @catbaby : That is interesting, my mate just got the code sent to him 1 hour ago. Just tell them you registered it? May be try and say that that is the only thing stopping me from ordering this phone

      • I gave them my email which is the same I have my JB account with. They asked me if I had registered and I said I thought I did but I don't think I ever received the code. Maybe because the email address I have used is the same what I use to login on their website so it's the perks email?
As I said, he told me that he emailed the department responsible for the marketing side of things and he would contact me once he hears from them. Hence my request took like 2 days. I could have been lucky and managed to get one before they started to reject such requests.

  • +1

Managed to get a $99 refund for one account but couldn't get it for a family member on another account. They just flat out refused saying "there's no such option in their system". They asked me twice about the cancellation reason and if I have any other services in my account (I have).

    • -2

How did you manage to get your $99 refund, have spoken with a lot of Telstra agent and all refused to issue the plan refund….

      • -2

I asked for the 1st refund about 5 days ago. I just told them a sob story about underestimating how expensive the plan was (which isn't untrue as I pay this much not per month but per year). They were very easy-going and agreed straight away.

    • Yeah they were giving before 5 days refund now they are not giving neither telstra and jbhifi mobile chats went today did all the stuff but they send you a code on mobile so you have to enter your sim but still a good deal in 1100 and i think so now they are not giving any 200 discoung voucher too

  • Any recommendation on chargers?

    Thoughts on https://amzn.asia/d/d9G3hrj?
    Anker, Ugreen?

  • Experts, any side effect of charging iPhone / Samsung phone with laptop usb c charger like Lenovo’s or MacBook’s charger?

    • No side effect

  • Guys, what reason did you give when cancelling via Telstra Chat? - Can i just say this is not a suitable plan for me / its overpriced/ not having network at my work ?
Also, I don't have a telstra account yet, do I create an account first then link a number to it or I can only create a telstra account with valid telstra number?

    • Change of mind. They don't care. I've done it now 3 times.

      • Thanks.

      • 3 times on the same account?

        • +1

Yep and no credit checks were lodged on my credit file. Got my Equifax file after two phones and nothing showed up. I had an account with Telstra so perhaps no new credit check was required.

  • +6

Thank you so much to all those who took time to highlight the process and make it easier for people like me.

After reading all the comments I have followed the guide inch by inch.

    1. Purchased a $5 Aldi Sim Card.
    2. Activated the sim but did not enter any payment details. Selected NO Recharge option.
    3. Went to JB hifi and asked for the Telstra Deal.
    4. I had the $200 coupon so informed the guy about it beforehand.
    5. Asked him to price match Costco price of $2050, which he said should not be an issue at all.
    6. He did better and beat the price and the final price came to $2025
    7. He took my details and charged me the $99 mobile plan charges.
    8. Went to the cashier to pick up my phone.
    9. Final cost came out to be $2025 - $1700 - $200 = $125
    10. Came back home and talked to Telstra to cancel my plan and asked for the $99 refund.
    11. The first agent refused so asked him that I will get back later for cancellation.
    12. Disconnected the chat and talked to another agent. who assisted with the cancellation of the plan and will be getting the refund back in a few days as per agent.

Now looking to sell off my older phone to make it a sweet deal.

Thanks a lot everyone out here.

    • So the total you would have paid is $125 + $766 = $891 for S25 ultra 512gb?

      • Yes, right. Unless Telstra decides not to honour the $99 refund.

    • Do you have to be a Costco member for the Costco price beat?

      • Hey Bluebird,

I dont think so. I was not asked any question about my membership.

    • +2

glad to see you got hands down the best possible price, enjoy the phone :)

      • +1

Thanks Mate. And thanks to the forum members who shared the deal and provided inputs.

    • -2

wouldnt you have to pay $1700 back for JB hifi voucher used for mobile?

      • Hello Benj,
As discussed widely on this thread, the only penalty you need to pay is the $766.

    • Hy, may I ask you which store you went to, if in Sydney? I asked the store and also the live chat but they refused to price match with Costco. I am looking to get another one for my brother.

      • Hi,
        Just PM'd you.

        • can you please PM me as well, I would like to order it today if it is in Sydney
          thanks

        • Do you mind letting me know which stores accept price matching with Costco? Thanks!

          • @yoyoz23: Not sure why, but cant seem to be able to PM you.

            • @suku1809: Hi @suku1809 apologies for the confusion. I have disable my messaging options previously. Would you be able to PM me again? Thanks

        • could you PM me as well?

    • Can I know which location of JB Hifi you signed up your contract with?

    • Hi mate,

Can i asj what is the purpose of buying the $5 Aldi sim?

      • So you don't need to transfer your existing number to be eligible for the $1700 voucher. The Aldi sim is used to port over to the Telstra plan to make you eligible for the $1700 port in voucher

        • So you just put the aldi sim in your phone as per normal and then use that number to port? Then just cancel with Telstra chat?

  • Also another question.

Has anyone purchased a screen protector and a case as yet for the Ultra? Looking to buy one today. Any reccomendations.

  • Can someone clarify what exactly the terms of the $200 voucher is? Is it only for S25 Ultra?

    • Do you care about the terms of the $200 voucher or what JB system will accept? I don't have the terms but if you are buying any of the S25 range phone, the JB system at check out will accept $200 voucher.

  • I'm confused why is there a link to buy online but they say in store only? It's very expensive if you order online.

    • Because you cannot sign up to jb hi-fi mobile plans online, in store only.

The link takes you to the phone and plan details.

  • Also wondering when JB port you in on Telstra will they give you a new Telstra ID or can I use the one I already have with Boost?

  • +1

Signed up to the deal earlier today and was able to cancel with the initial $99 payment refunded.

Received an SMS from JBMobile confirming refund amount.

    • I tried through telstra and JB HiFi mobile chat but they give same answer once paid initially cannot be refunded

      • you may have to try another agent….just keep trying until successful….

  • Just confirming I requested a discount code through email from JB Hifi and they issued one today. Love chat were not going to give me one after a couple of tried but the email enquiry issued me the 200 dollar discount.

    • What's their email?

    • I was able to get it through live chat. They did confirm my email though.

      • I tried three different agents but none would give me the cose sadly.

    • what did you say in the email to get issued a code :)?

      • I just played dumb and said i loat my code. Hope i had done it correctly and hope they can reissue.

It worked and got the phone today.

    • Tried it myself today and they said they'd check with marketing, got an email back later saying they had no record of me pre-registering for the voucher, guess you got lucky. (._. )

  • Hi Guys , I need some guidance for cancellation process. I signed the Contract in JB at about 11am with number ported into Telstra successfully. but when I got home about 5pm I can not find this 24M service in "my Telstra " app. Can anyone share how to cancel it with Telstra support ? Did you just chat with Telstra online support without login the service console?

    • It will show up on the JB mobile app.

You can cancel through the Telstra App Live Chat and give them the mobile number of the plan you want to cancel.

      • Got it. I will try. Thanks for the tips!

I dont get all of this, can someone explain this to me please, looking at getting a s25 ultra?

  • Sorry if this has been answered but couldn't see it anywhere.
My situation is I'm a current JB Hifi Mobile customer. I want to get this deal but want to stay on the $99 plan. I have 10 months left (equals $300ish payout) on my previous phone.
How can i cancel this plan, and get this new plan all before 13th Feb?
How strictly policed is the 30 day changeover? Could i buy an Aldi SIM this morning, changeover, then go in store this afternoon and sign up on this?
Can i buy a new plan outright today, cancel my old plan, then port my existing number into this plan?
    TIA

    • I am in the same boat. Following for response

    • I gather you want to keep the $99 new plan?

If so, yes get an Aldi sim and sign up on the new number.

Once signed up, advise Telstra you want to cancel the old plan but that you want to keep the phone number for the new plan.

I am pretty confident you can do this as I did something like this previously, but it was a few years ago.

  • Has anyone got the pre-order phone from JB store after 24M contract cancelled? I was told has to be wait for arrival notification after 14th Feb.

    • Yes - Depending on your stock allocation you may have been allocated one before release date or even get one on the spot.
They say that you will receive a text message once ready however I ended up going into store before receiving any message it was already available for pick up.

      • Lucky mate.

    • I purchased on the 11th and picked up yesterday (13th).
Received both sms and email around 11am

  • What is the subject of the email?

  • I have already got one which I am using can I get another one or is it one phone per person.

    • was it available to pick at the time signing the contract? I was told by staff all jb stores in Melbourne are out of order and waiting.

      • Adelaide but store was different to pick up

    • I remember seeing some comments where they used the same Telstra account to sign up for the plan again, so you could try.

  • Anyone noticed the MicroG service running in the background? Haven't found out exactly what it's for yet.

    • Its a third party google services app. You may have had it if you used Youtube Vanced.

      • cheers, I may as well uninstall. Yeah I have tested vanced before on the old phone.
I noticed some people try to install it (probably for that purpose).

        • holy moly. couldn't do a simple google search to find out what it is?
          lol

  • Guys If I am with boost can I do they port? They’re saying because it’s same network as Telstra I can’t do it

    • +1

Port in excludes JB upfront/prepaid, TGG mobile & broadband, Telstra or Boost. Its on the website

    • +1

Just get a new number and $1600 off not $1700.
Or come back after you get a new Sim from Aldi and port that one in.

Depends if you want to keep the number or planning to cancel.

      • Yes. I’m going with new number. Thanks.

        • get Aldi sim for $5 and you can have the same for $1700

          • +1

@CodeXD: I ended up just getting a new number. Lovely staff sold me the 512gb for $2k instead of $2137 to make up for it. Final cost was $200 after I applied the $200 voucher that live chat gave me today lmao.

            • @I Smell Pennies: Can i know how you get $200
Did you registered for that before or you just get it when you chat with them?

            • @I Smell Pennies: So the total cost will be $766+ $200= $966?

  • -1

Does the 'voucher' go toward your purchase or an actual gift card youre meant to walk out with?

    • Goes towards purchase after paperwork/signing up and used when paying JB at counter.

Staff do it all ( more or less)

  • +3

Signed up instore and used the $200 code.
Cancelled my plan via JB app, so far no luck in getting a refund. Even went via payment assistance chat section but they all the reps are stating as per t&c they cannot refund. Even while cancelling the rep upfront told me they cannot refund $99 without me asking for it.
Seems like they have caught-up on this and hence been declining it.

    • keep trying. start a new chat each time. use telstra. you still have till end of first month before you cancel

  • +1

Yeah. I've struggled to get the $99 refunded for my wife. Basically given me a scripted response any cannot refund midway through a billing cycle.

    • keep trying. start a new chat each time. use telstra. you still have till end of first month before you cancel

    • Try account/billing option instead of cancellation, they've just refunded mine a few hrs earlier

    • Ask to make a complaint and it will go to the customer relations department and you should have better luck.

  • If you have recently terminated a plan, make sure you pay it out before you attempt to take out another plan. Silly me even though I sorta knew it wouldn't go through still tried to get one for my wife today but got declined. Hopefully, this will help comment will others.

    • Pay it out and go try again, happened to me and got my 2nd plan today

      • How much it takes to update when paid out

        • Mine took 2 business days to clear but the JB staff said it would have been ok to reapply when pending .. it says pending payment once you've asked JB mobile chat to process payment on your card

  • I know one cancels the jb/telsra $99 either online chat with jB or Telstra

Buy cant one cancel by porting out of the JB/Telstra plan to another telco company? Or more to it?

  • When you go to JB, do they just give you the simcard? How are people 'not using' the sim to ensure they get the $99 refund assuming telstra chat member allows it

    • Yes they gave me a physical sim card (jb hifi mobile branding on it)

  • +1

    Found this from another deal:
Google One AI Premium 2TB Plan Free 6-Month Trial (Ongoing A$32.99/Month) for Galaxy S25 Series Users

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/892868

  • Hi, just wondering anyone manage to get refund of $1700 JB gift card + $237/$437 (original payment) in Sydney with returning their sealed S25U? Cheers

    • I called my store, they said, they can return but they will give you the gift card worth $1937.

      • How did they get that figure?

        $1700 + 237 , I assume you used the $200 pre order voucher?

        • Yes use the $200 pre order voucher

        • Yes so they won't give you the communication voucher back.

      • +1

I'm sure you didn't mention your S25U was part of JB mobile deal on the phone, if they knew(which most likely will be checked by the manager when you doing your refund) they will most likely reject your refund.

    • That means if we cancel the plan, we're getting the mobile for 1336, but if we cancel right after we get $1700 JB gift card ?

  • I wonder if JB Hifi can price match Amazon Australia. Its 1937 for 512gb at the moment so without code it should be 237 again :)

    • and with code… $37!

      • Yeah they said no as my email was not subscribed but it was a gave the code away :). Now they are not giving me one more

        • I've tried chat and sent emails to 2 different email ids but was denied everywhere.. my luck ..

    • Where are you getting $1937? Amazon shows as $2137 for me

      • there is a 200$ discount when you go to checkout

        • They wont PM

          Its

$200 credit on select Samsung products

          and not $200 off

  • -1

Anyone can apply the $10 JB Perks discount code too, in addition to the $200 pre-order code? The staff told me that they can't be stacked.

    • +1

No you can't sorry, I tried.

  • damn Samsung sent me the wrong colour, went for Titanium Black and got the Grey instead. (Ordered through Samsung edu)

Couldn't be bother to sent back as i got late 3-4days then their original plan.

    • May I know when did you ordered? Mine is still waiting to be shipped.

      • +1

        S25U 512GB Titanium Black + Bud3 Pro on 26 feb

        • 26th Jan I assume. That is 2.5 weeks.

  • Are you guys planning on just returning your devices for a $1937 gift card? ($1700+$237) and then the $200 discount just becomes obsolete?

Not a bad idea to get a $1700 card for $799

How are they about returns on the phones? No problems returning? Has anyone returned successfully?

    • Are you guys planning on just returning your devices for a $1937 gift card? ($1700+$237)

Wow, that actually works? I'm surprised they'd refund the $1700 GC as it's specific to the deal and all.

    • I'm only speaking from my experience trying it last year, but NO you can't. When they doing the refund, they will need to call the manager to approve the refund which he/she will check if your phone was part of JB mobile plan(I think your phone will have additional note in their system which says "telco deal"). By this time, the manager will know what you are trying to do(be prepared to be treated like a scum). I did try this at couple of stores at the time because some ozbargain comments, but not going to try again unless majority of comments here have successfully to do so.

What a bad luck..may be because I went to the shop at 5:20pm..when they are closing..the guy gave me a discounted price of $2037..did all the process to finish the telstra setup..then while setting up things for phone.. I showed him the $200 discount code which he had no idea about..I just told him to apply and see what happens.. And then he told me I got $200 discount.. Then we walked to the counter to pay things where the manager was also there as he was waiting for us to finish and close the shop..then he told me I have to pay $250 finally amount and I was like..what..thats not right..i should be paying only 137..then he saw the whole thing and we found the store guy in the final step selected Samsung 25+..1937-1687=$250.. then they couldn't cancel this as its connected to the telstra..and told me that $200 got discounted from the originally price and we can't give 2offers of discounted price and the voucher discount..so ended up paying 250..but manager said he will refund $13 when I come to collect the phone..cant believe.. Also I was thinking to take the phone in my parents name as they will be travelling next month and claim TRS in the airport.. But the store guy forgot that also.

    • Regarding TRS, you can ask nicely for another invoice. If they are willing, they have an invoice booklet which they can manually write you a new invoice with your parents name

  • Had a kind soul give a $200 JB code in the begging thread, combined with a $215 S22 trade-in GC + $10 dummy Amaysim eSIM bought just to port-in = $32 upfront spend, (so after cancelling the plan, should come to $931 total, not bad at all, almost what a flagship phone used to (and should) actually cost).

Has anyone had any luck today/yesterday getting the first month of the plan refunded though? Or have they totally sealed that off and I should just save myself the online chat embarrassment?

  • How to start this chat with telstra.. When I click the chat now.. It says try again.. Is it because it's past 7pm..or can this be done by JB Hi-Fi chat too.. Plz let me know guys.. Thanks

  • Anyone else use a camera protector like this:
    https://amzn.asia/d/5dZuqD1

    And a case like this:
    https://amzn.asia/d/6Yz7MOC

Cause the camera protector gets in the way of the case fitting perfectly.

    Here is my experience yesterday:

    1. Find cheapest price online (Costco have it for $2049).
    2. Sign up to JB HiFi pre-release coupon offer of $200 off.
    3. Get JB to price match Costco - I had to visit 3 JB's to get one who would price match.
    4. Sign up for JB's offer of $1700 off if you join the $99/month for 2 year Telstra plan.
    5. Pay for phone at counter = $2049 - $200 - $1700 = $149.
    6. Go home and cancel the telstra plan and get the $99 waved / reimbursed through Telstra as it is unused. Have to pay the $766 cancellation fee.
    7. Sell or trade in old phone for $360.
    8. Total out of pocket cost for upgrading phone = $149 + $99 - $99 + $766 - $360 =$555 for brand new $2349 phone
    • Which JB would price match Costco?

      • +1

You just need to find a good JB rep by trying multiple. I ended up finding one guy who was desperate for sale so he did my s25 ultras for $2000 and S25 for $1300.

    • -1

Which contact method did you use to cancel the plan and get refunded? Telstra direct via the portal/phone or JB?

Also I assume it doesn't affect collecting the actual phone then from JB once it's released?

      • I'm waiting for the $99 to clear (e.g. not "pending" on my bank account) and then I'll message Telstra direct. I actually don't mind the look of Telstra's $25 month to month plan so I'll see if they can drop me to that and reimburse part or all of the original $99 (and I will still accordingly pay the $766 cancellation fee). Unless anyone here has any better suggestions of telstra plans? I'm keen to stay with Telstra for where I live

The store had stock and were happy for me to walk away with the phone at time of purchase (Tuesday). So I have it already.

  • Can I cancel the mobile service before receiving the phone to request $99 refund?

  • @CodeXD how to cancel this mobile service? Via telstra chat or jbhifi chat..as I was not able to setup telstra app..as the code is going to the ported number..can I chat with telstra without the telstra app and get this done..plz advice.

    • I cancelled on telstra app, already had an account with my main phone number. Put the sim card in your phone to sign in…?

      • If I put the sim in the phone.. Doesn't that mean I have used the service and get will not refund $99

    • How much is the full amount we need to pay if we're cancelling ?
      2137 - 1700 + 800 + 99 = 1336

      • +1

U can PM with costco to 2050 and then deduct 1700 GC . Cancel for 766 and then chat with telstra and try your luck to get 99 waived.

        • Sadly I don't have costco membership :(
          Anyway, I understand this now.
          Will try my luck tomorrow

          Thanks a lot btw

          • +1

@perthguy92: Hit and miss if theh actually ask u to show the membership . You could saved further 200 if u had the pre registered jb voucher

            • @ReDDevil2684: Yea I saw, I didn't pre-register unfortunately :(

Btw, this is JBHi-Fi voucher right ? Not a Samsung signup voucher I assume ?

  • Hey guys I'm noob + international student here in Aus.
So basically, the original s25 ultra price is $2137, but you will get $1700 off if u join the $99 mthly plan?

So you have to pay for S25 ultra :
    $99 plan fee + $437 = $536
And how much is the cancellation fee?

    • 766 seems to be the cancellation fee

    • Thanks for replying mate
      So total $536 + $766 = $1302???

      • It seems like that's the case.
But if you don't use the SIM, you can try to get the 99$ refunded as well when cancelling the plan (as per the comments)

        • Right. So the best bet would be $1,203 if I am lucky to get $99 refunded

  • -1

Can anyone confirm if cancelling the phone plan itself early (to have a higher chance of a refund of the first month) would affect the collection of the device itself from JB once they actually have one's pre-order ready to collect from in-store?

    • +1

      No

      • Sweet, will give it a shot and see if I can snag the $99 today then!

        • +1

Yes I cancelled well before pickup.
Anyway hopefully they'd have stock in store now anyway.

          • @G-rig: Ordered mine yesterday in-store but they told me to only expect it in next week (though I did choose the Blue).

            • @GS9891: Cool. I got the titanium blue and got a spigen Zero One Magfit case in white:
              https://imgur.com/a/UKlUJ6H

              • @G-rig: Ah damn, I got a Spigen in black, didn't know they made a clear one!

                • @GS9891: Yeah I had a black on my s24u. This is same same but different. One of the few things to use an eBay voucher for.

  • Upgrading from S10, settled for the S25 Plus due to the Ultra being a little too large for my liking (maybe in the future though).

  • -5

Anyone pick up their pre-order yet?

    • -1

      Mate..

      • -5

I'm not your mate and what exactly is your point?

        • -1

Lol really? You been hiding under a rock like a spider or haven't seen this thread? Most picked up on 4/02 lol.

It's amazing how lazy people are. Just want to get spoofed - post the same questions without reading the OP and previous comments.

          • -2

@G-rig: Lol i wonder why JB told me they still have a lot of phones at the store awaiting pick up. Another keyboard warrior thinking they know everything

Maybe you are a little behind not thinking plenty of people pre-ordered after 4 feb also? Time for you to start thinking rather than acting like a 10 year old

            • +1

              @dji1111111: Lol wot
              Dunno mate not worried
Take it easy pal, not sure what the hissy is about.
It's the last day of the promo, people have had ages to organise themselves.

              • @G-rig: Organise? Lol wow so if people decide to buy something late, that gives you the right to call them lazy? You really need a look over of yourself

                  • @G-rig: I think he is asking people who ordered late? It's pretty obvious?

                      • +1

@G-rig: Anyone who ordered early have their phones already. It's only the people who ordered late who haven't got theirs. I would have thought it's obvious considering the context.

    • 5 pages of people commenting they have their phone

      • -4

Maybe those comments are buried amongst useless comments like yours

        • -2

My comment wouldn't be here if you didn't start it lol

          • -1

@CodeXD: Yeah sure. If you crash into my car, I'm sure you will tell me you wouldn't have crashed into my car if I didn't leave the house in the morning based on that logic.

  • -12

Guys just spoke to telstra.. They straight told me $99 won't be refunded as it's charged by jbhifi.. So you can talk to them.. So didn't cancel with telstra.. Then called jbhifi mobile.. And spoke to the lady she was also playing with words saying it won't be charged and will disappear from your bank transaction as it's still pending..only thing I will be charged is $766..then I asked her what about if this pending 99 clears which means I am charged.. Then she said I should call back for refund..then I had to shout on her and say so much miss communication happening..and want this in writing.. So she emailed me with case number..

Just wanted to check with others have any one got this refund successfully.

And I am assuming this will not affect the phone pickup.

Kindly plz share your experiences guys.. Thanks a ton

    • +7

You shouted at her for telling you what will be happening? I would hate to deal with a customer like you.

    • Kindly plz don't abuse customer service staff that's just doing their job.

      • -1

Really sorry.. I didn't mean in that way.. I just told her so many communications gap happening from jbhifi staff it's creating issues to claim things properly..So requested her to send written email..so when I call back again once the 99 is processed and to get refund.. trust me it went all nice at the end.

  • -2

i am trying to grab my head around this. So if I cancel the plan, net cost of the phone is around 1200?

    • +1

      $766 ETC + $99 first month + $437 upfront = $1,302 if you cancel right away.

Might be able to score a last-minute $200 off code if you camp the begging thread today also. Then combine with a trade-in voucher if you please also to lower it some more.

  • For anyone looking to get the first month refunded, got a very instant, clearly scripted and ready-to-roll reply from JB chat saying it is no longer policy to refund the first month on upfront plans hah, so yeah that avenue is clearly shut now.

    • We're fxxed

    • So if $99 isn't refundable,
      Total cost will be
      $437 ($237) + $99 + $766 = $1,302 ($1,102)
      Is this correct

      • With no other vouchers/trade-in discounts yep that's the minimum cost for the S25 Ultra. ($1,102 if you have a $200 pre-order code from the begging thread)

        • Damn I'm giving up :(

          • @joinsung: Plain S25 would only be $606 if you want to spend less, or $865 for the S25+.

            • @GS9891: Without the $200voucher?

              • @joinsung: Yeah ETC is $550 for the S25 plain (so $527 after the first month, plus $79 first month fee) and it's $0 upfront, same as the S25+ (but its ETC is $766 like the Ultra and monthly fee also $99).

                • @GS9891: Sorry mate I'm new to this, ETC seems like "End" or "Estimated" something, anyways
                  So $527 is cancellation fee
$79 could be refundable if I'm lucky enough.

                  Total $606 ($527)

                  • @joinsung: ETC = Early Termination Charge (i.e. the contract cancellation fee).

            • +1

@GS9891: I bought the Ultra, but the base S25 is the bang for buck option this time around IMO.
You don't lose out on all that much considering the price difference.

    • try telstra chat

      • Service doesn't even show up in the Telstra portal, maybe I need to wait another day.

        • Just try live chat on their website. Don't need to use the app. That's what i did. Tried twice and worked.

          • @dji1111111: Were you able to do it before the service became visible in the portal?

            • @GS9891: no idea. i never checked the portal. I only got to it about 3 hours after I paid for the phone though

              • @dji1111111: Well gave it a shot, exact same copy-paste text from Telstra too hah:

Disconnecting the service will no longer allow you to transfer the service to another provider or keep the number. Please be advise that we will not be able to refund the first payment upon cancelling the service.

            • @GS9891: Yep I cancelled plan on telstra chat before it became visible on the portal. Gave chat the phone number

              • @CodeXD: Yeah just did the same, but exact same nope-no-refunds copypasta as JB, definitely seems like they're not allowing it anymore.

                • @GS9891: Yes I tried just now with S25 $79 plan. Same scripted message and agent refused to refund $79. Aah well $606 is still a cracking price for band new S25 512 gb phone

  • Guys how do we know the $99 is refunded..as my now my transaction is showing $99 pending.. Does it get cleared first and then we get it back? As anyone received the 99 back yet.. Plz suggest.. Thank you

  • Will JB hifi match samsung partner store price? I logged in through my employee portal which shows $1879.20 (S25 Ultra 512GB)

    • Very unlikely, usually has to be a location that anyone can buy from/etc. Someone seems to have been able to match Costco though (after trying three stores).

      • yeh. makes sense.

  • -1

Hey legends. Couple questions. Anyone have any issues doing two phones using the same ID. Does it create an issue cancelling with telstra? For the record i have done one phone today and want to go back and do the same with my other phone.

Also Telstra put on the heat as to why are you cancelling, does it make a difference what you say here, ie i discovered your corporate conduct isnt congruent to my personal ethics.

    • I believe you are entitled to do 3 connections per customer. Did you use Telstra app chat? Which channel you select? Cheers

      • telstra chat just on the telstra contact us page, all good in the end. No way i could get the $99 refunded despite trying, but i knew that going in.

  • Such a shame. I tried asking for a code but no lack… tried on the mega thread and also asked jb directly, no luck.

      • Understood. But surely someone has some spare code they aren’t going to use :(

        • +1

Yeh. after trying to get code from chat, emails and the megathread for 4 days - finally bought it for the $437 this afternoon. of course, it does feel like $200 down the drain but today is the last date for the this great deal. The phone wont come down to $1200 level even after S26 series gets released.

        • check the classified section….there are people selling them for a small price…

            • @G-rig: I'm referring to the $200 off code! Whizz is chasing the code…

              Here's an example…

              https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/893213

              • @LiQiD: Ah. Pretty scummy trying to sell it, will be useless by the time JB stores shut.

                • +1

                  @G-rig: Very un-Australian mate…..

              • @LiQiD: Thanks mate. I already bought one but I will keep this mind next time. I wasn't aware of this pre-order email. I actually received email but I didn't register.

  • +1

This deal is getting replaced by new plans from tomorrow.

    S25 Ultra 256GB for $ 2137
    $99 x 24 months JB-hifi mobile (Telstra) port-in needed.
$800 gift card. (you pay 1337 in store)

    so final price would be (2137-800) + 99 + 766 = $2202 (256 gb)

  • Hi all.

    Tad confused.

Managed to get the s25 ultra but was charged only 237. They didn't bill me the 99 and telstra email said I'll be billed in future.

Does that mean I didn't pay the 99 today?

    • The cancellation fee will $799. No need to pay the existing $99. I think it's because you had an existing Telstra service?

  • -7

    ETC waived

    • How?

      • Source: I made it up lol

        • -2

If you followed the s24U thread last year, i also got it waived and posted proof as they sent an invoice with credit applied.

This year they only sent an email so dont want to expose the employee who assisted me

          • +1

@easternculture: Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence/at least something.

Only way I can imagine getting it waved would be if one has a massive amount of other Telstra spend, or claiming it was a fraudulent purchase on your account, or faking your own death and saying the contractee has died, or just declaring bankruptcy outright.

            • -2

@GS9891: Other ways to get it waived which ill keep to myself

            • @GS9891: I have had it waived, via TIO complaint . But I'm also curious as to how it was done with out a complaint

              • @Rangerdave12: Ahhh, the old 'annoy them into refunding'. I'm surprised they didn't hold their ground given the contract is pretty clear-cut though, but maybe the manager on duty was just tired that day.

              • -3

@Rangerdave12: They actually offered to waive it for me haha

    • +3

      I'm sure it was. ;)

      • -3

No one asking you to believe me.

  • So since they ( Telstra)are no longer refunding the initial $99 you may as well use the sim for a month.
    300GB uncapped speeds.
    4G/5G

( or did I miss some info on this plan)

    • +2

That's what my plan as well. Going to use disposable email with a new number to use all the free food offers. for ex. free burrito GYG

      • Lol. Excellent.

  • Signed on the 7th Feb, didn't put sim in. I was able to get $99 refund through Telstra chat today.

Payout invoice $766.59 will received within 10 days via snail mail and 24hrs through email, refund $99 will be credit back to my card, this will take 3-5 business days.

Still some life left, I tried this on my first go. Used the usual "financial hardship etc"

    Goodluck all

  • -1

I placed the order on Samsung edu account using the trade-in and applied uber $400 voucher and $150 trade-in bonus. I don't want to send my old phone as they set $40 for my s22 ultra which is not at all acceptable.

Any idea if I don't send the mobile back, will they remove the 400 and 150 discounts as well or they will just deduct $60 admin charges?

    • You can find the answer by reading the 50+ pages of comment in the other deal. 🤣

      • i am not gonna waste my time in that ;P

        • +1

You're also asking in the wrong deal haha this one is for buying s25 ultra from JB 🤣

  • Has anyone tried signing up for more than 3 plans?

    • You could be the first.

      • Only did one but it's interesting.

  • Can someone please confirm my understanding

If i buy using a voucher and then cancel the plan before the activation or after first month all i pay is

    $237+800+99 max? That like 1236 only…right???

Please confirm if you know it

    • +1

      $237 upfront with $200-off voucher + $766 (23/24ths of $800) plan ETC + $99 first month yes (if bought today) = $1,102

  • Is the $200 voucher sent by Samsung and starts with CMPXXXX…. ?

    • -1

Yes.. But no one has used this with jbhifi.. Why not use this and update all of us..but i guess no point now as the offer is finished 😉

      • I thought it finished at 9pm?

        • It's valid for another 1.5 hours.

      • I meant is this the one you show to JB to get $200 off. Apparently not then…

    • No - tried this and didnt work :(

    • +1

No those are for the Samsung online store.

      JB's $200 ones all start with '92'.

  • I wish JBHiFi comes up with 1700$ vouchers for more phone like S25 Ultra. I maybe tempted by Oppo Find N5 if thats the case :)

    • They had $1450 off for the Pixel 9 Pro till yesterday, was tempted to get it instead, but apparently it overheats pretty bad for some.

      • What was the total cost of the Pixel Pro 9?

        • +1

Same Telstra ETC and $99 for the first month, base cost for the 128GB was $1,697 or $1,897 for the 256GB, so would've been $1,112 for the 128GB or $1,312 for the 256GB.

Though with the special ended now they've also chopped $300 and $250 off the 256GB and 128GB respectively, sneaky sneaky.

    • At this price for basically $1k for a new release flagship Samsung with 512gb, this was a no brainer

  • Hi Guys, How many days does the refund process of first month fee $99 take? Was told by telstra online chat the refund was processed 3 days ago but now still have received yet. Please share your experience. Thanks!

    • Mine stated 5 - 7 business days. Who knows just keep a record of the case number with the agent confirming the refund

      • Hope get received soon.

  • Is Telstra chat working? It keeps telling me to sign in when I am already.

    • I just got on chat, the chat support said the value of the gift card has to be repaid…?

      • Yes, which in this case is $800 as per the CIS.

If you've already paid $99 upon sign up this gets reduced to $766.

      • the agent in your chat will advise of the ETC which is $766.xx and will ask you to confirm if you want to proceed with the cancellation….

        • -1

Thank you. How likely can $99 be refunded?

Also, the phone has not be picked up yet, would JB know plan has been cancelled when going to pick up the phone?

  • +2

After being declined 5-6 chat reps for the $99 refund. I went on to Telstra website and open the chat via the payment assistance page.
The chat rep refunded $99 almost instantly. Got the credit invoice as well.
    Happy days!!!

    • Oh I might try that now. What did you say to them?

      • +1

Just make sure the $99 you paid is no longer showing as pending in the JB Hifi app.
Used this template as shared by a fellow ozbargainer "I have finished requesting the cancellation of the $99 24-month JB Hi-Fi plan for service number xxxxxxx. Could you please refund the $99? I haven't even inserted the SIM into the phone or used the service."

        • +1

No need. I did this while it was still pending and had no issue with getting the $99 refunded. You'll get an email confirmation from JB to confirm the refund of $99

          • +1

@Duece1995: I tried just now and agent told me that they can see payment is still showing pending and to contact them back in 3 working days If i want a refund. These agents are so inconsistent man but I can see that payment is indeed pending in my amex portal, maybe it depends on credit card provider as well. Will try again on Monday

        • I cancelled my plan Friday last week and got told by the agent they will refund the $99.
It was pending at the time and cleared Monday. So far haven't gotten anything back or even received an email about a refund, just the usual $766 payment..

Got the reference number from the chat but should I wait longer or ask what's going on?

          • @Miner233: Ask and give them the reference number

    • +1

It worked, thanks so much for the suggestion. Those guys are so much nicer!
I used the script. My payment was pending so like others they couldn't do it on the spot, but said they will monitor until it's complete and then process the refund. Reference number provided in case any issues.

    • Did you log in to Telstra account on your phone?

      • +1

        nope, on desktop

    • +1

This worked for me too. Thanks for sharing!

  • -1

How is luck of returning the sealed phone back to JB?

Is it 7 days return policy or 30 days for phone?

    • You could probably resell it privately for a tidy profit?

  • For those who have cancelled the plan through Telstra app, check if you have got points to redeem.

Previously I bought 2 pcs of Samsung S25 and cancelled the plan through Telstra app. I got more than 10k points. So, I redeemed Belong $80 sim card and have activated the sim card today 😀. I chose data plan only, so it can be used for 5 months free data for me. It can still receive sms. So, I can use the new number for other freebies ;-)

    • Is the cancelled phone number under your Telstra Plau account/email?

      • I cannot see the cancelled numbers in the app. Previously I have Boost Mobile long time ago. I used Telstra too years ago. I can still login with previous Telstra ID. So, I used it for this Samsung deal.

    • Just get the app or call them

  • -1

    Hi guys,

I signed up for another plan yesterday and the phone has been pre-ordered to arrive at last week of Feb. So is it ok to cancel my plan today, will there be a problem while picking up the phone? as I want to get that 99$ refund to want to cancel the plan asap. Thanks

  • -4

Ive got the $200 off voucher if anyone wants to DM me if they can get into JB HI FI in time.

    • +1

      24 hours too late

      • Expires on the 14th?

      • Nope, ignore me, you are correct.

        • Hi MrrMagic, can you please pm me?

    • Why man why it could have been used on time either by you or nay one else but getting it wasted is really bad

    • @MrrMagic shame shame shame!
A lot of people would have loved this if you offered it anytime except after the deal is over 🙄.

  • Hi guys, has anyone used Samsung Care + before? Do you reckon it is worth? And how was the experience?

  • -8

Behold! The legendary OzBargain folk hath struck again, vanquishing JB Hi-Fi’s corporate greed with a deal so mighty on the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra that their accountants surely weep! We enjoyed cancelling our mobile plans with not a shred of shame, for fortune favours the bold! ‘Twas a joy to haggle among such masterful deal-seekers—may our wallets grow fat and our ozbargain pettiness henceforth never be denied!

    • +2

Counterpoint: No phone should cost $2.3k.

      • +1

There is no doubt the markup is huge, they can probably make them for $400 max.
Prices are just silly with these set-storage units and same marketing strategy as Apple.

The point is folk on here love a good hack, a challenge and a bargain.

        • Yeah, the usual excuse people give is "muh R&D!", yet the thing is basically unchanged from the S24 Ultra (hell they even GOT RID of a feature with the S-Pen).

          • @GS9891: Also people need to get paid, warehouse rent has to be paid, taxes, freight charges, insurances, maintanance of factory machinery and electronics, loyalties to chip manufacturers, etc

            • @easternculture: Yeah, some margin is fine, but flagship components for say an S5 only ended with the phone being like $700~ retail back in the day still.

300% increases in the cost of flagship phones in a decade is insane. PC components (outside of nVIDIA gouging) have generally gotten cheaper since the 90s for better performance, but for some reason phones have done the reverse.

              • @GS9891:

Yeah, some margin is fine, but flagship components for say an S5 only ended with the phone being like $700~ retail back in the day still.

                Dont forget inflation is real.
All other human and logistical costs have also tripled or even more since 2005 or whenever s5 was released.

I remember petrol was less than 70c then, my annual salary was around $60k. Now petrol reaches over $2.20 on the cycle and the same job i was doing is getting paid $130k per year

                • @easternculture:

                  Dont forget inflation is real.

Yeah but not 300% in a single decade from 2014/15 when the S5 was their king. Not talking the 80s/90s/early 00s here of course, (though petrol is its own thing).

Again, other electronics, (including complex ones like PC components), haven't really skyrocketed that much at all (except for nVIDIA flagship GPUs again because of their own monopolistic circumstances). You could build a top-tier gaming PC for $2k in 2015 and can do more or less the same now (with an AMD GPU at least, or non-flagship nVIDIA).

          • @GS9891: yeah i already knew there are really no hardware upgrades, but it's a lot better ergonomically and the new UI 7 would make the most difference.
Why not get a new one with deals / hacks like these, can't say i was wrapped with the S24 anyway.

The cameras are rubbish on both.

            • @G-rig: Of course with a deal like this it's much more acceptable, was saying how the retail sticker price however is unjustifiable and people are perfectly right to squeeze through every contract loophole to get it as cheap as possible.

              • @GS9891: yeah there is no way it's every worth the RRP - don't know why they bother with it - just make it reasonably to start with (back when pixels were $899-999 and maybe $1299 for the samsung name, instead of heavily discounting straight away lol.

  • -2

Anyone able to change the S25 to iPhone or S25 ultra? Seems like you have to stick with exactly what you ordered in the first place. No exchange or return.

    • One person did but generally no.
Choose right the first time or just sell brand new sealed.

    • you can do a change of mind return and use the refunded $1700GC to purchase another handset….i did this with the P9P late last year

      • So you think they'll hand you an apple iPhone instead, Never many discounts on those.

        • i returned the P9P and got an iPhone 16 Pro and paid the difference…

it's basically a change of mind refund and using the refunded amount to purchase the iPhone….it's not a 'free swap'

          • -1

@LiQiD: Sounds good yeah shouldn't make any difference to them but seems they are reluctant. you'd just get a dirty look and hate for wasting their time cancelling these plans for vouchers ha.

            • @G-rig: @LiQiD @G-rig they are not considering any possibility or change of mind. In short, according to them, stick to what you got in the first place.

              • -1

                @Shahw: As per JB's Refunds & Warranties guide (https://support.jbhifi.com.au/hc/en-au/articles/360053005194…):

"Unused & Unopened, packaging in good condition (product not faulty) - eg change of mind" is covered in this policy….

Anyway I'm planning on returning mine sometime this week so will let you outcome….

                • @LiQiD: All the best and lemme know how it goes. I tried two stores without any luck.

              • @Shahw: Yes they shouldn't be rorting the system to that extent and wasting everyone's time buying these with the intention of returning.

I'm sure you physically could return (if unopened) it with ACL but they'd hate you for it.

I still agree people shouldn't buy them to start with and make up your mind. The deal over anyway but eventually this loophole of cancelling plans for cheaper voucher repayment will be closed or something.

                • @G-rig: Agreed, JB Telco have given much better deal if we compare it with Harvey Norman Optus. We only need to pay up to $800 for $1700 off where you are basically stuck with 2 years contract with HN.

Also, if people keep refunding telstra bundle phones at JB, then they could easily change this deal like HN did by putting the telstra voucher as a discount instead of amount paid by gift card(Yes, invoice from HN will be shown as $0 if you bundle with Optus). If that's the case, people can't even claim TRS if they are planning to travel.

                  • @yummypinacolada: Yes eventually it will be changed so people don't completely take the piss.

Was kind of easier a few years ago with the pixel deals and reasonable RRP. You'd yet a pre-order discount, bonus trade-in voucher & decent trade, free stuff (like google mini gen 2 + CCwGTV, which you can sell), $300 GC.. no signing up or cancelling of plans and the phone wouldn't cost much at all (and cheap upgrade).

The inflated price for new flagship phones with minimal advancements is silly these days. Just apple driving it and Samsung trying to be apple.

  • Pre-ordered from Samsung store more than a week ago. Still awaiting for shipping. Estimated shipping date is 24th March. Anyone also has the same late shipment date?

    • what model? Ultra 512 gb?

      • +1

        Yes

    • You might have just missed the the earlier shipments as latest shipping date is 24/3 for any colour if you order now. Less popular colours are earlier.

      • Damn, should have ordered a pink one. I will use a case to cover it anyway, so the colour is not a consideration factor.

        • Didn't you see the shipping date before you ordered? It shows when you select the colour you want and it also told you in cart or during checkout. I think there was a brief period where it didnt show the dates for some when selecting colour though but should have shown in cart/checkout.
Pink is still 10/3. Whitesilver says available now, Silverblue and Titanium black from 3/3.

          • @8azinga: I did saw it, but did not try other colours to see the delivery date. I was thinking it might be just a worse case scenario, it should be shipped way before that.

      • Don't get ahead of yourself mate. Claim first on ozbargain and let's keep it at that.

      • I think I was - yours was a photo of the box.

  • Hi guys have anyone received the phone order on 12th Feb or later?

    • Yeah, I picked up mine yesterday

    • Did this on the last day on the 13th….picked up phone there and then

  • -1

Oh finally got my phone today😊 just wondering can this phone be returned to jbhifi.. And will they give the $2137-$200= $1937 refund.. Has anyone tried?

    • At managers discretion and they have been told not to accept return for phones bought on jb plans

    • Why don't you want it, why did you buy it?

      • For profit?

        • -1

          yes, rorting the system.
          What's your time worth lol

          • @G-rig: What's rorting the system? 95% of people that bought a phone here have terminated their contract.

It's not rorting the system at all.

            • +2

@Duece1995: Is it - old mate is talking about returning the phone altogether for vouchers, which is a total piss take.
JB still get the money spent with them anyway but it's a waste of everyone's time.

              • @G-rig: Aren't we all wasting our time so that our boss can have a better car, house and w1fe?

              • @G-rig: Agree. Definitely wouldn't be attempting to return the phone.

    • Yeah most likely it will only be $1937 not the full $2137

  • Those who have successfully sold their phone, how much did you end up getting? I've seen some post advertising $1,4k for 256gb and $1,5k for 512gb on FB marketplace around my area.

    • +1

Yeah it is a bit low as so many people claiming they were gifted a Samsung S25 Ultra in FB Market. Lol!

    • +1

Sold for $1.6k on the 14th, was going to use it myself to replace my S22 but after actually trying one in store before pickup I realised what a horribly oversized beast it is. Going to hold out for the next Xperia and see… (x_x )

      • Lol s22 and s23 bigger.
No need to upgrade every year but may as well when free, your older phones worth a lot less the Longer you keep it.

        • S22 standard non-ultra. Thought I wouldn't mind a little bigger but when they're in a case man those ultras are just stupid big.

          • @GS9891: Yeah gotta compare like with like.
I would have been happy with a pixel 9 pro but couldn't be bothered waiting last time and got a s24u (same hack as this deal). Never liked the square corners, the S25U feels heaps better and UI7 much nicer to use.

  • Has anyone received the phone yet?..
    I pre-ordered the plain s25 last week, 13th, and still awaiting…

    • I picked mine Monday or Tuesday. I ordered mine 13th February 2025

  • I picked mine on yesterday 19th..ordered on 12th.
