My notes:

- Please note that letting the number expire and not recharging is eligible for cashback.

- Please don't deactivate or port away until you receive the cashback. Deactivate means requesting Boost to remove the number.

- Terms and conditions are from Telstra/Boost and apply to all cashback providers. Confirmed with the rep tightarse. Cashrewards acknowledged the new term when someone asked.

What will stop me getting my cashback

  • SIM must be activated within 30 days of purchase, and must not be deactivated until your cashback is payable. If the SIM is deactivated prior, Boost may decline cashback.
  • Multiple SIM purchases need to be made as separate transactions. If there is more than one SIM in an order, it will result in an untracked purchase and the purchase will be ineligible for cashback.
  • Cashback is ineligible on eSIMs, recharges, phones, bundles, accessories.
  • Cashback is ineligible on use of any codes not approved and posted by TopCashback.
  • Cashback is ineligible on purchase of gift cards and/or use of gift cards for payment.
  • Cashback is ineligible on purchases made via the retailer's mobile app.

What else is essential

  • Most retailers calculate cashback based on purchase amount excluding GST, other taxes, and delivery fees. Your cashback may report lower than expected due to this.
  • Always return to TopCashback and click through via the pink cashback button to the retailer's website for each new transaction. Ensure the TopCashback link is the last one used to visit the retailer's website prior to completing your purchase.

Good to know

  • Ensure you disable plugins such as Honey, AdBlock, uBlock, Pi-hole & VPNs prior to clicking/tapping from TopCashback as they will prevent your order from tracking.
  • If you cancel / return / exchange / modify your completed order, it will no longer be eligible for cashback and will be declined in your account.

What to do and when

  • Missing cashback claims must be lodged within 100 days of purchase.

Monthly money-back deals: more quantity & competition ?

Ignoring error post, Amaysim hasn't offer any decent money-back deals since ~ 11-Aug-24….& hope they come back soon.

NO NBN & have minor movies download need: try FREE-wifi services: pubs, shopping centres, CBD etc…area you regularly travel, trails & errors?

    • Please don't deactivate or port away until you receive the cashback. Deactivate means requesting Boost to remove the number.

    And then:

SIM must be activated within 30 days of purchase, and must not be deactivated until your cashback is payable. If the SIM is deactivated prior, Boost may decline cashback.

So porting out and porting back in is out then if you have less than a month remaining in your current prepaid plan?

      @GJT, @AussieDaddy, NO-porting of your MAIN mobile#.

The cheapest way to park to park your MAIN mobile#: Amaysim STARTER-pack-> https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/16008184/redir
MAIN Mobile#: turn-OFF data, don't call-OUT & send-sms, unless you are willing to pay their expensive payg-rates. Receiving calls & sms works, provided you've credit in your account, or are on PAYG-plan
Your churn-sim: you use the data, call-OUT & sms-OUT features until 28d monthly sim expire, repeat monthly & need forward planning.

      Practicality, need a DUAL-sim phone.

ALL money-back deals have risk & you must be willing to risk your money-back deals to learn their system…rules are often NOT fully listed @ money-back Companies, but are note @ deals (eg this post), sometime scattered through many posts & users apply different rules, eg Amaysim 'NEW 'Service (SIM) & NEW Sign Ups (New Customers)'
Monthly churn sim is very time consuming.

      Amaysim STARTER-pack
The reason why it works is because Amaysim allows 12 months expiry date of UN-used CREDIT…but they CAN change this feature if many people jump on board, lol
You can get 2 years parking your MAIN mobile #

Note, it also allow users to bridge their mobile services, you're buying 7d for deliver of your sim via using $10 credit for 7d plan, https://www.amaysim.com.au/sim-plans/7-day-sim-plans, https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/16040242/redir

Also, you can only use the credit to buy FULL-price plans, ie can't use the credit to buy DISCOUNTED plans, https://www.amaysim.com.au/sim-plans/deals?gad_source=1&gcls…

      • Would you say amaysim is the best churn sim right now? I only need a way to jump off and back on my catch plan

It depends on EACH users experience & they are so wide & vast. No point getting a cheap deal but your service is impaired, eg remote area & hill residence ?

I live 5km of CBD & I can be with ANY carriers.

          • @ab c: I'm in a major city. Just looking at cheap one. I was looking at boost, but the conditions seem like it's not possible to get the cashback if I use it for churning, which would make it more expensive than amaysim

A $2 Telstra SIM should do the trick. See https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/841500 Although it's geared towards Boost-someone else-Boost, Catch-Telstra-Catch should work just as well.

There's also the free Yomojo offer - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/879308

And although the $4 Ezysim offer has been marked as expired, it still looks to be available. See https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/868131

      • Amaysim STARTER-pack are often on sales: Nov-24, I bought their $35 credit for $12 @ Woolworth.

      • Thanks for taking the time to explain @ab c. Looks like I'm going to use optus for 7 days till my new boost arrives:)

    • Don't use these deals for your MAIN number. I only use it for the DATA with the temporary new number that expires six months after no recharge, cash back paid within 6 months though.

      • TopCashback has been paying cashback within 2 months recently but allow 3 months for cashback payment.

        • While it took them 7 weeks to pay the mid Aug Boost deal,
it took them 10 weeks to pay the early Sep Boost deal.
So definitely not within 2 months nowadays.

          • @AsukaST: They seem to pay in batches. My Boost purchase on 22nd Sep was paid on 13th Nov so within 2 months for me.

Were you also paid on 13th Nov but bought in early Sep?

            • @trixieb: yap, 5 Sep and 13 Nov.
They only pay once a month.
So it's not safe to say within 2 months, but at least 2 months. :(

              • @AsukaST: Yes. If anyone purchases today, then expect payment in about 3 months as it's the beginning of Dec. If they purchase towards the end of Dec, then payment maybe within 2 months.

  • It's a good deal but my sim plan is expiring in 4 days :(

        • They're now using startrack which is much quicker

        • +2

same problem, however even I've tried put in address manually and with a new number, email etc, still get rejected.

    • I think this's because of MORE system control Boost have put in place to stop people abusing PROFIT Boost sims, eg some sim-hoaders ordered as much sims as they can with PROFIT deals knowning Boost never validate sim purchases & their sim last 1+ years. Now that Boost sims purchases are validated for 60d activation with money-back deals, such practice have stop & so has Boost profit deals.

Anyone else noticed that boost coverage is terrible since the 3g shutdown? I am based in Sydney and my wife and I are both using using iPhone 16 on latest software.

For example last weekend in Chatswood Westfield which I know was busy due to black friday sales, we both kept losing coverage and unable to make calls, but my daughters iphone 14 max with a kogan sim worked flawlessly.

I’ve noticed reception has also been degraded mid-week on the trains and I’ve just driven to Newcastle and lost reception multiple time on the journey but not sure if this is a telstra issue or only boost.

    • Could be an iPhone 16 issue? My wife works in a hospital and it's usually difficult to get network in some sections. She switched from Samsung to iPhone 15 Pro earlier this year and the situation got worse.
      We both are on Boost.

    • Lol, this is for those who believe Floptus / Vodafail without fact-checking their particular circumstance.

Could be anything: maybe 'Telstra began repurposing its 3G spectrum in September 2024 to improve its 4G network and 5G technology. The 3G network was officially switched off on October 28, 2024' & allow a few months for Telstra to teak their system….a MASSIVE task Australia wide.

      • Could be anything: maybe 'Telstra began repurposing its 3G spectrum in September 2024 to improve its 4G network and 5G technology. The 3G network was officially switched off on October 28, 2024' & allow a few months for Telstra to teak their system….a MASSIVE task Australia wide.

It's not being used for 4G - it has been repurposed to n5. This das system would likely not support it as i assume it is gen1

    • I’ve noticed Boost quality has dropped significantly over the last couple of years.

    • For example last weekend in Chatswood Westfield which I know was busy due to black friday sales, we both kept losing coverage and unable to make calls, but my daughters iphone 14 max with a kogan sim worked flawlessly.

This is due to telstra's outdated b3 single in single out das system. It has around 73 mbps of capacity, and the BBU was likely overloaded and was failing registrations with the extra people. Kogan) Voda, is likely to have a better system, and i think from memory optus has a decent system there too

    • I’ve noticed reception has also been degraded mid-week on the trains and I’ve just driven to Newcastle and lost reception multiple time on the journey but not sure if this is a telstra issue or only boost.

Sounds like a telstra issue. Optus and vodafone are much better on the drive up there

    • It was my understanding that, although Boost uses the full Telstra network, Telstra customers have priority over Boost customers on congested networks.

Switching off 3G may have switched on more people to Telstra and using more data, congesting Telstra networks and resulting in Telstra customers being given priority access to bandwidth.

This was always the potential risk in transferring internet activity from high bandwidth fixed line networks to relatively low bandwidth mobile networks and will also be a potential risk in satellite internet connections.

More people need to be using wifi to fixed line networks, where possible, instead of unnecessarily congesting cellular networks.

I did notice when buying a new phone to cater for switching off 3G, that it was always trying to use more data and it took a lot of effort to deactivate all the unnecessary apps to return it to a dumb phone that didn't use any data. It is possible many people who switched to 4G phones are being tricked into using more data than they want, resulting in an overall increase in data usage and thus congestion.

      • It was my understanding that, although Boost uses the full Telstra network, Telstra customers have priority over Boost customers on congested networks.

This is not the case - both services are on qci 7. Only speed optimiser gets qci 9 which on telstras network is priority

    • Yes! Had next to no signal recently. Even in the city. I should have stayed with Amaysim

    • +1

I live in Sydney City. Boost Mobile signal in Woolworths Metro Central Park and in certain areas in Sydney are not that good. Vodafone & Optus have good signal there. Previously I thought Telstra network is the best for basement area and have the best coverage in general. Telstra is still great for location far from the City like Eagle Rock when I was there recently. Around Sydney City and inner City suburbs, I actually expect all have good signal coverage. In my experience, Optus network is better than Vodafone around West Sydney for example. I have tried many different sim cards including Boost Mobile. No problem with Vodafone when travelling from City to Gosford (Central Coast) previously. It's better to have at least 2 different sim cards from different telco just in case when there's network problem.

  • Unfortunate that this offer is not available on recharges. My plan is expiring in Feb, guess I'll again have to port out and port back back in to get new customer offer.

    • Is it no longer possible to ask customer service via chat to manually add the credit from the starter pack onto my existing service?

      • Don't know if Telstra/Boost will check this but you may risk rejection of the cashback.

  • Why is esim excluded?

    • +1

Annoying isn't it! I think you can convert once it arrives.

  • +1

What if the 28 days runs out and I haven't recevied my cashback yet? Will the SIM be considered "deactivated"?

    • If you churn to another Sim/provider afterwards, then yes.

      • So it I just leave it as expired without porting out, the cashback should still be eligible?

        • @Bignudge Yes, it's in the post description in bold:

Please note that letting the number expire and not recharging is eligible for cashback.

Please don't deactivate or port away until you receive the cashback. Deactivate means requesting Boost to remove the number.

  • +1

Cashrewards $9 cashback doesn't have this condition. My two orders from August ported straight out after expiry were paid out.

    • +1

Maybe it's TOO risky for everyone to apply this rule considering it was a stated criteria by TightArse @ TopCashback.

Presumably, the source was from Telstra & TightArse relaid the criteria as per commented @ OzBargain a few times, from Aug-24 onwards & trixieb cautiously state this criteria in all this posts.

From time to time, some may experience a positive outcome from NOT following the strict criteria: could be an outlier, eg Telstra staff too busy to apply the rules, system failed to capture the data etc etc ? 3 months worth of failed money-back claims is a hard way to learn from comments made by some OzBargainerS…you could be the 2nd or 3rd person who have made such comments here ?

    • +1

@Imnuts7 Just to clarify, the terms and conditions are from Boost/Telstra and apply to all cashback providers. TopCashback is being thorough by stating this new term from Boost. The rep, tightarse has confirmed here..

When someone emailed Cashrewards about the new Boost term in August, Cashrewards acknowledged it:

If you port out somewhere else before the cashback is paid, it might not be eligible for cashback. I highly suggest to wait for the cashback.

As you have experienced, Boost/Telstra didn't seem to check every transaction and randomly approved the cashback for SIMs that had ported out. Another person mentioned here.

Cashrewards recently took about 3.5 months to pay the cashback for the Boost SIM purchased in August. Payment was overdue. Cashrewards used to pay out quicker. TopCashback paid the August Boost SIM purchase in about 1.5 months.

I keep getting a "Something went wrong" error when trying to purchase.

    • -1

Try again later today, tomorrow etc

      • put your home address manually, it worked for me last night.

  • I'm coming to the end of my first 12 months with Boost. From the way I read it to take advantage of these cashback offers I'd have to port out and then buy one of these SIMs, is that correct?

    • Yes

  • How strict is the activation within 30 days? I need 2 sims in Feb next year which is after the 30 day activation window.

    • +2

Telstra/Boost was very strict here. They are more likely to enforce this term when the cashback amount is bigger e.g. on the 12-month plan. You may be able to get away with it on the 28-day plan.

  • +1

    Thanks OP! Copped one <3

  • Hello, if I were to get the $365 Sim and use it as a recharge as an existing customer, does this mean that I won't get the cashback?

From Boost's website the $300 is for new customers only.

    • No cashback for recharge as an existing customer. You would have to port out from Boost to another provider and then port back in.

  • In my opinion, porting is only worth it for yearly plan, not 28-day plan. Don't waste your time and effort. It's best to buy yearly plan with cashback or PAYG plan for main number and monthly plan with 100% or almost 100% cashback for second sim card mainly for data, freebies and other deals. Use dual sim card phone or 2 phones (1 old, 1 new) up to you.

    • My current boost 12 months will expire in 3 weeks,
How do I take advantage of this deal?
Appreciate your tips in tricks in advance

      • I guess you only have 1 phone number as your main number and your phone is not a dual sim card phone?

If so, only porting to a different telco then back to Boost Mobile.

So far, the cheapest sim card deal is:
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/877067

Porting number to Lyca Mobile is not that good and may take longer time according to some people. You need to know the requirements for porting properly to Lyca Mobile. Otherwise maybe porting to Lebara for $8 as the second cheapest method. Then porting back to Boost Mobile later.

        https://www.lebara.com.au/prepaid-plans/30-day/
Extra small plan is $8 at the moment.

        • I have iphone 16 pro max

My main number is with Boost which is about to expire in 3 weeks. I would like to have combo main number and a solid sim for a reliable internet.

      • @ekstrabraket Possibly other options mentioned here and free Optus eSIM.

  • I can't seem to find how long they take to give cashback on the page? Can anyone advise?

  • +1

So I tried buying with different names, different emails, different address and different credit and debit cards. Different browsers on phone and desktop. None of them worked.

Kept getting the sorry we are unable to process your request right now, please try again later error message.

I contact boost support and they said the reason it’s not going through is because you’re not allowed to stack cashbacks. So if the $300 boost sim is already down to $255 then you can’t do a cashback on top. They reassured me that’s 100% the reason why I’m getting that request.

If this is true then it explains why so many people are having problems. But also weird how some people manage to get it eventually?? Can someone chime in how they got it to work? Thanks.

    • +1

It doesn't appear to be true as cashback is usually stacked with Boost offers. You could also get the same error message when you try to buy directly without using cashback. Telstra/Boost seems to randomly block people (including new buyers). Could be from their fraud detection. They may allow you to buy in a few days, weeks or months later when you try again.

      • Do you know if you can buy the boost sim online with someone else’s name and number? (Eg your parents and family).

The only reason I ask if because if our names doesn’t go through then I can only think about using someone else’s details to buy. Does this affect me when activating the service for myself after receiving the sim?

        • +1

Other people have mentioned being able to do this. Activate with different details from original purchase.

    • Yep, I'm finding it impossible to purchase. I keep getting the Something went wrong error. I've tried different addresses, numbers, email addresses. Nothing works. My Vodafone plan is expiring in Jan and I'm keen to get on to Telstra network again, but I'm not keen on the pre Cashback prices, even with the Boost sale.

      • Were you ever successful by any chance?

    • +1

@blob2025, @gareth886: Try login Boost via your email-address & write down these details: name, dob, mobile#, email-address, Delivery-address.

When you order, Boost system seems to match 100% of the above data to your ordering-input-data.

      Just ordered 2 sims-monthly separately via Android14-TopCashback-APP: both tracked 5m, with emails tracking-confirmation & https://www.topcashback.com.au/account/earnings/.

100% tracking to date & I like TopCashback referencing Boost ordering# for audit trial.

@ Activation, you may use a different Boost-account, from your ordering Boost-account.

      • +1

        Thanks for your help.

I managed to order one using Microsoft Edge, different email, different debit card and address in capital letters. No idea which one did the trick.

        Took me about an hour.

        • @blob2025 Glad to hear you got one! That's dedication. Just checking that your purchase has tracked for cashback.

  • These are great to get to put in the mobile hotspot when on road trips over the summer, especially considering Telstra has the best remote coverage.

Change the wifi SSID and password to that of your home network, and you're good to go.

  • Cashback was better few days ago so this is just a price rise

    • @sub102 Not for all the 4 plans. Only 2 out of the 4 plans were better value last week.

      • The $39 50GB 28-day SIM is at the same price. Costs $2 after cashback.
      • As stated in the post description, the $300 265GB 12-month SIM is cheaper in this offer than last week's Black Friday's deal. This offer costs $208 after cashback. The previous offer was $245 after cashback.
      • That's right but I don't think the deal for many here would be the long term plans as they were $145 after cashback like 2 months ago. I know its 100gb more now but that's like a $5 cost with monthly plans. I got the 65gb sims for $2 after cb from last deal

        • +1

Yes, those were on clearance about 2 months ago.
I bought the $2 SIM 50GB after cb from an earlier offer on 24th Nov. The $2 SIM 65GB was a good deal. I'm with Telstra on my main phone and prices are even higher.

  • When does the cashback offer finish?

    • Would also like to know

      • +3

@warpath6 @1jwoz Offer ends on 16th December. Post has just been updated with the expiry date by a mod.

With Aldi mobile on last deal $28/month 5G Telstra network 32GB+20GB bonus inc rollover+ Unlimited calls/sms to international for 20 countries and 100mins to 30 countries. Boost is a waste of time with the bait deals. Only issue with aldi is no eSIM yet.

    • +1

@DanielR Aldi Mobile doesn't have the 5G $28/month plan anymore. It's replaced with $29/month 25GB (+25GB bonus for new service, current promo).

Only issue with aldi is no eSIM yet

There are other major differences between Boost Mobile and Aldi Mobile especially with 5G coverage where Boost Mobile has more extensive coverage.

      • Boost Mobile uses the full coverage of the Telstra network and is the only MVNO with access to Telstra's entire mobile network. Aldi Mobile does not have this full access. Aldi Mobile uses the Telstra Wholesale Mobile Network which uses parts of Telstra’s mobile network.

      • With 5G coverage, Aldi Mobile only covers 75% of the Australian population whereas Boost Mobile has 89% coverage.

        Mobile 5G Coverage 4G Coverage
        Boost/Telstra 89% 99.6%
        Aldi 75% 98.8%

      • Boost Mobile has 12-month plans which can work out to be cheaper whereas Aldi Mobile doesn't offer 12-month plans for new customers.

Depending on where you are located, Telstra/Boost Mobile may be the only option as you may not have coverage with Aldi Mobile. By the way, Telstra has acquired Boost Mobile.

Hence I disagree with your statement "Boost is a waste of time with the bait deals".

  • regarding I keep getting a "Something went wrong" error when trying to purchase

As others mentioned few days ago, Try putting your home address manually. Mine worked great.

    • I did try this, unfortunately does not work for me. Thanks anyway for the suggestion.

    • I can't seem to make the purchase even after trying this method (tried 2 browsers, 2 cards, 2 IDs etc).

I noticed that the URL was ""https://checkout.boost.com.au/consumer/boost/error#decline".

The final message was "Sorry, we are unable process your order. Please try again later."

      • +1

I've tried multiple different ways to try and purchase. My partner also has tried the same but to no avail.

I've never come across a site that makes it so difficult to make a purchase.

Both my partner and I are keen to get off the Vodafone plans when it expires next month but Boost is making it impossible to make the switch.

The new pricing structure is also rubbish but the TopCashback promotion brings it down to an almost acceptable price.

Shame there doesn't seem to be a way for me or my partner to get it to work.

I've tried the online chat and they just referred me in-store to a Telstra Business Centre. Rubbish!

@RaceDoge @spasto If you're after the 12-month plan and unable to buy online, this is the best Boost offer for the smaller data currently. Offer ends today at midnight AEDT.

        • Much appreciated, looks like I didn't get to it in time. I'll keep an eye out for alternatives. Thanks!

  • Just a note: My Dad came to Melbourne from India on tourist visa this mrng, he couldn't download the boost app since its not available in Indian apple app store(error: not available in your country). ended up using amaysim as he cannot use the physical sim slot which is occupied by his Indian sim.

    • Cashback is ineligible on eSIMs

He can create a new Australian Apple ID account if he wants. No old phone as a second phone? At least your old phone maybe.

      • I ordered physical sim, when trying to covert to esim after activation. I noticed this

It's hassle to charge 2 phones every day. Defeats whole purpose of dual sim. Moved to amaysim within seconds. Shame they don't have app available outside australia app store, while all others providers do.

Ordered 2 today, tracked within a minute. Thanks!

  • How do I make the order without an Australian Driving License or Passport? No option for foreign documents?
