[ZIP] Boost Mobile $230 Prepaid SIM Starter Kit 12-Month (170GB, Expiry 11/04/2026) $179 Delivered @ auditech_online eBay

1410
SAV30ZIP

45c less and longer expiry date of SIM card than this offer.

I've confirmed with the rep that the April 2026 expiry date is correct for this plan.

Don't need to have Zip Pay to use code SAV30ZIP (for $30 off) = $179 when you pay with discounted eBay gift cards.

Here's a screenshot of the section on the eBay app where you place the eBay gift card codes. You add the Zip Pay code first. The eBay website will be similar.

Credit to @urahara for the following tip:

Select ZIP Pay as payment method which applies the code SAV30ZIP
Then buy a gift card using any of the services https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/discounted_egift_cards
Enter the pin of the gift card at the same place where code was applied.

Credit to @AusNugz to choose Australia Post.

Make sure you select Aus Post if you can over Sendle.

  • I am currently with boost but plan has expired. if I port to Another provider and then port back in, can this be used ?

    • +5

      Yes

      • Is there a minimum time you need to be away from Boost before you can port back as a new customer?

        • +6

No, port out and then port back in

        • +10

Same day if you want, but I usually find a 1 month cheap deal and use most of that month up before going back to Boost

        • +2

About an hour or so. I found I had activation issues (with the identity check stuff iirc) with boost if I tried going back too fast.

    • +5

Easiest way is grab a $5 aldi mobile sim to do this (or so I've heard) Something with a very cheap minimum prepaid credit load-up to activate the temporary account anyway. Amaysim is another candidate. Do not try to purchase a $2 kogan esim for this - they force you to purchase a plan during on-boarding, which costs far too much.

      • +1

$2 telstra sim is another good option.

        • Yes, but you need to factor in a longer delay. I needed to activate by Sunday to meet my Cashback deadline, so I tried to do it on Thursday, but Telstra's SIM activation website was down for maintenance. So I did it on Friday, but it didn't go through until Monday because they wouldn't port over the weekend. I contacted chat, and they said it was because it was a "port in" or something.

So take that into account. Perhaps best to contact chat to activate?

          • +3

@Make it so: My experience was different.

I used Telstra $2 SIM for three of my services - all done on Saturday morning with no interaction with live chat of either Boost or Telstra. Took approx 20 minutes per service Boost -> Telstra -> Boost.

            • @WalterBiH: Go figure.
I had read this from someone else as well, which is why I wasn't worried. But I submitted this mid-Friday afternoon (just after COB in Eastern States probably), and it wouldn't port until Monday morning. I chased it on chat and everything. This was for two services, both with the same outcome. I missed the deadline and am probably missing out on $170 cashback in total.

I just want people to be mindful that they could get unlucky.

              • @Make it so: Better safe than sorry - extra information and experience you provided can't hurt :)

      • Optus free 7 day trial?

        • +2

You can't use your own number for the trial

      • Don’t you need to recharge with $2 amaysim ?

    • +1

      Yes, did it yesterday.

    • Just dont port to Lebara. I tried to port from Lebara back to Boost but i wasn't getting the verification code for like 2weeks. Other people had the same issue and i had to call them multiple times but they couldnt help much. The issue somehow fixed itself but i had missed a cash reward or shop back reward because of the delay.

  • +2

if you are on a telstra Business account wanting to port to boost you need to make sure you telstra account is converted back to a personal account first then it works. Just an FYI because I had to go through this to port a number out to boost.

  • +5

Make sure you select AusPost if you can over Sendle.
I had to declare my last item lost as instead of the “4 days” quoted it took over 3 weeks Sydney to Melbourne.

    • Thanks. Updated the post with your advice.

  • The code works but it leaves you only left having to use Zip Pay as the payment. Any other ways around this without having to jump through hoops?

    • +1

@zztrader You can use eBay gift cards (as mentioned in the post description) but other payment methods don't seem to work if you don't have Zip Pay.

      • -2

An ebay gift card or which one exactly, 2 of these sims will cost AU $388.00, Can I custom buy a card for that?

Never done this gift card stuff and entering pin codes in, I just dont want to be landed with a card with excess hang over if it can be helped.

Let me know which card exactly are you referring to as there are a stack of links and things on that page you linked to.

        • @zztrader Unfortunately I don't think you can custom the amount $388. The places where I can buy the eBay gift card is in whole amounts. You would most likely end up choosing a $400 eBay gift card leaving you $12 extra in your eBay account.

You need to scroll down the page to the eBay gift card, then look for where to buy. There are several options and some not listed on the list e.g. 3% discount at Woolworths Everyday Rewards App, choose Your Pick gift card and eBay is one of them listed.

          • @trixieb: So just buy a eGift Card vs the physical card from say Woolworths? Will that have a pin number to enter in after applying the SAV30ZIP code?

Or do we enter it in at the same time after SAV30ZIP

            • +1

@zztrader: The other OzBargainers are buying eBay eGift cards with a small discount. I wouldn't recommend buying the physical eBay gift cards from Woolworths or Coles as they are available in $50 and $100 denominations but you need $388. As a precaution, I don't know if there is a limit on the number of eBay gift card codes allowed with this Zip Pay promotion.

              • @trixieb: Thanks for that,
I just went to Woolworths site, they allow you to use custom.

Then I realised when going to buy 2 of these, they only discount 1 card and charge full $209 by adding a second card.

So would it be better buying 2 seperate $180 cards or just buy 1 $360 eGift card and buy them 1 at a time?

                • @zztrader: Here's a screenshot of the section on the eBay app where you place the eBay gift card codes. You add the Zip Pay code first. The eBay website will be similar.

                • @zztrader: Which Woolworths site? I don’t believe they sell gift cards online??

                  • @Moo Deng: https://giftcards.woolworths.com.au

When trying to check out it wouldn't let me and asked me to login again.

It also says after login hassles that: Please note: Your Woolworths online account cannot be used to login to Woolworths Gift Cards.
So I need to create another login for buying an onlline gift card. Insanity.

I really appreciate all you guys help and Trixieb for the continual updates, I am now glad I never purchased a gift card for 2 or 3 sims as a downer Xmas would have been assured.

                    • @zztrader: Do you have PayPal that you can link your card to? Sometimes the Woolworths gift card website works better using PayPal.

                    • +1

@zztrader: As mentioned earlier, if you use the Everyday Rewards app, you can get 3% discount for the eBay eGift card with "Your Pick" gift card.

                      • +1

@trixieb: Thanks trixie, I was in a hurry just trying to get the voucher through that I ended up forgetting as I didnt want the listing to sell out.

I am pretty green to the voucher world of Ozbargain. I think I need to upgrade my skill set on vouchers, and also on Samsung Phone deals as well because every time one rolls out on here, I seem to miss it because I am just unprepared and have too many questions.

At least I got one sim but will grab another Boost exp 2025 sim later I guess

Thanks for all your efforts and learnt something new in meantime. Cheers :)

ps: I forgot to change the postal choice to Aus Post and left it on Sendie without realising. I sent a Message to the seller asking if they can change it so will see.

                        • +2

@zztrader: Glad you got one :) I've been buying gift cards (and cashback deals) for about 2 years and still learning. Sometimes I pay with my credit card and not bother with discounted gift cards in case of issues as I don't want to be refunded and be stuck with the gift card.

                • +1

@zztrader: Based on this comment, you will need another eBay account to use the $30 off Zip Pay code twice.

"You can only use the redemption code 1 time during the Offer Period."

You cannot share eBay gift cards with another eBay account. If you are using 2 eBay accounts to buy 1 each of the $179 SIM card, then you will be buying 2 x $179 eBay eGift cards, instead of $358 as a single eGift card.

              • +1

@trixieb: Typically you can stack a promo code with 7 gift cards…

          • +1

@trixieb: Was able to custom buy amount with Bupa Rewards

  • Must activate before 11/4/2026

tempting, i just activated this plan last week, might get it again for next year too

    • +2

Tempted, but decided it was too risky to buy a no-longer-offered sim plan from a time before Telstra’s takeover. Feels like there’s a chance they could renege on the “valid until” date.

Dunno how they’d justify it or what it’d look like - maybe giving you $230 credit towards another plan (leaving you another $100ish out of pocket to reach the next cheapest available prepaid 365 day plan at the time?)

      • +1

@ZJack Up to you but I don't think there would be issues with this discontinued plan. I'm a Telstra customer and haven't had any issues on their discontinued plans. They do change their plans often.

        • Yeah I agree, it’s not likely an issue. My thinking was that if buying this sim, you’re not really a customer of Telstra until you activate it. You’d be a customer of the eBay seller, who was a customer of the company Boost which now has new owners. If Telstra changed the rules you wouldn’t have proof of purchase from Boost or anything.

          Again I’m sure it’s fine!

  • Keep getting this error : Looks like that's the wrong code. Please double-check and try again.
even after select zip pay as option

    • Not sure why but it worked when I tried. Maybe try copy and paste this: SAV30ZIP

      • +1

        Tried but same error.

        • +1

Sorry don't know why. I just tested again and works with Zip Pay selected.

          • @trixieb: i was making the a small mistake earlier which was giving me the error as well. the code is 'SAV30ZIP' and i was typing 'SAVE30ZIP'.

try typing the code without the 'E'

        • +1

          eBay account must be Australia-based.

      • SAV30ZIP doesn't work for me. Need to use ZIP for it to work.

        • Only works with eBay gift cards without having ZIP Pay and $30 off with the code as mentioned in the post description.

  • Thanks OP, got one for when my 6 month Telstra sim runs out 16/09/2025 as I like to plan ahead for this interesting

next 12 months whilst doing a lap travelling around Oz.

  • Damn I just bought a catch connect 120GB at $119…
Would've bought this deal if I saw this earlier tho… unlucky.

    • Cancel it, I get terrible connection with catch connect vs boost Sim.

    • +2

Nah depends on where you are in Aus. In Perth, WA catch almost as bad/good as telstra.

  • +1

Thanks OP. Just got mine with Ebay gift card.

  • +3

Bought from these guys recently - arrived quickly without issues. Changed to Australia Post as well.

  • +2

Boost coverage sucks now a days

    • +2

Still better than Optus and Voda IMO

      • somewhere in Perth Vodaphone coverage is better

      • Yep when i ported to lebara termporaily (voda), the reception was bad in places where boost would normally work. Couldnt scroll Ozb during toilet breaks at work. And thenoptus…well they breached my data so i wont be going back anytime soon.

    • Isn't it Telstra ? Always worked perfectly for me

      • +2

Yes, Boost get full coverage of Telstra network
the network accessibility is better than Telstra wholesale network such as Belong and Aldi

        • Can probably expect that to change now Telstra own Boost… they’ll either be booted down to 2nd tier so only Tel$tra has the premium product, or they’ll cost pretty much the same as Tel$tra.

          • @braddsey: will have to see…..
however there are views that Telstra should have no intention to push Boost to 2nd tier
as this will just damage the current unique position of Boost market segment
Telstra has already been controlling Boost pricing and product roadmap even before the acquisition

To start, I don't think Telstra's purchase will significantly change competition in the mobile space. While consolidation can have negative impacts, Telstra was already responsible for Boost Mobile's pricing and product roadmap. Boost mobile plans may be cheaper than Telstra but - by and large - they're more expensive than what truly independent Telstra MVNOs have been charging.

This also means Telstra doesn't have much incentive to change unique selling points like the fact Boost is the only MVNO with access to the full Telstra network. Every other Telstra-powered provider uses a slightly smaller footprint which means they have less coverage in regional and rural Australia.

    • I actually have been getting more issues recently, where I never used to

  • Can somebody please tell me, which actual gift card have they used that works, all I see on the GC page is stats of stuff,

or where can one buy discounted eBay gift cards?

    • RACV/RACQ Rewards, Bupa Rewards, Everyday Rewards Gift Cards, Entertainment Book, ShopBack Tech Swap, etc

      • Those are Reward Cards, I dont understand how you enter a code from those cards into the ebay site.

I appreciate the info you and others have wrote, but there are too many hoops to jump through here, I even read the gc page and am no further forward to just actually buying one of these things.

Perhaps its easier to just sign up with Zip Pay as have spent half hour reading the gc page and no further forward.

  • So what are my options if I'm currently with Boost and looking for another 12 months? :)

  • +5

For those that need help obtaining an Ebay giftcard.

I purchased a $200 Tech Swap Gift Card on the Shopback site and swapped it out for an Ebay Giftcard.

    • Thanks I’m going to try now

    • I bought a $179 gift card from woolies. no wasted $$$

  • +2

To update - I recently ported in and out using the Telstra $2 sim. Was quick too - within a day.

    • I remember there were some hoops that you had to jump through for porting telstra to boost. Is this not the case anymore?

      • +3

They fixed the transfer issue (needing a special blank sim) years ago. Some people still encounter problems going between Telstra and Boost though, no idea how common it is. I think it helps to realise your telstra online account is your boost online account and you need to reuse the logon, not try to sign up for a new one or enter details slightly differently.

    • Don't they need a plan to select for the port? As I can remember I could not just port with only $2 Sim last time.

  • Spent $125 for 330GB with Vodafone. Worth going with Boost instead?

    • I think it depends on where you live. If you are in cbd Vodafone is fine.
I bought one boost for next year when my current amaysim will expire as I want 5g. I could have waiting for a discounted Vodafone but just felt like going for this deal as seems good value(mind you I paid 30cents more lol). Husband is in Vodafone. It’s pretty good in Sydney.

    • +1

how did you get the Vodafone one for $125

      • +1

It was the start of the year. The 250gb for $250 was on sale for half price and they threw in a bonus 100gb or something

        • Was the offer on OzB as I can't find it?

  • I noticed this last night and purchased. Has already shipped and am tracking with AusPost

  • I find boost network s..t these days, porting out annual plan even after 6 months. I can’t even sometimes open a webpage and tower shoes one bar of 5G. Moved to Optus.

  • +2

Has anyone confirmed the expiry date? It seems very far off for a discontinued plan. I'm a bit worried it is a typo and should be 1/4/2025.
I need one to use in July 25.

    • +2

They have sold 8,689 already but will check with the rep on OzB and get back to you.

    • +1

I'm on a similar situation and have the same concern. Thanks for checking OP!

      • +2

@md333 @WhatsTheBigDeal Still waiting for the rep to reply. PMed almost 3 hours ago. (Zip Pay offer ends today.)

I'm not expecting the date to be a mistake. Based on the expiry dates of previous offers posted on OzB and listed on their website, April 2026 expiry date for this discontinued plan is plausible. Other earlier expiry dates for this plan were 06/01/2025, 14/07/2025 and 08/09/2025.

        • +1

Thanks OP, my current one expires in Aug 25, taking my chance and bought one!

      • +2

Me too, but ordered already, and with Sendle haha (shot through a quick message asking to change to AP).

        • +4

@md333 @WhatsTheBigDeal @jackychen @ozhunter68 Rep has just confirmed 2026 expiry date is correct.

It's 2026 and that's the latest expiry you can get for the discontinued Boost 230

          • +1

@trixieb: Thanks. Just shot a quick message through ebay confirming that, but you already got onto it.
