Cashback terms and exclusions

What will stop me getting my cashback:

  • SIM must be activated within 30 days of purchase, and must not be deactivated until your cashback is payable. If the SIM is deactivated prior, Boost may decline cashback.

  • Multiple SIM purchases need to be made as separate transactions. If there is more than one SIM in an order, it will result in an untracked purchase and the purchase will be ineligible for cashback.

  • Cashback is ineligible on eSIMs, recharges, phones, bundles, accessories.

  • Cashback is ineligible on use of any codes not approved and posted by TopCashback.

  • Cashback is ineligible on purchase of gift cards and/or use of gift cards for payment.

  • Cashback is ineligible on purchases made via the retailer's mobile app.

What else is essential:

  • Most retailers calculate cashback based on purchase amount excluding GST, other taxes, and delivery fees. Your cashback may report lower than expected due to this.

  • Always return to TopCashback and click through via the pink cashback button to the retailer's website for each new transaction. Ensure the TopCashback link is the last one used to visit the retailer's website prior to completing your purchase.

Good to know:

  • Ensure you disable plugins such as Honey, AdBlock, uBlock, Pi-hole & VPNs prior to clicking/tapping from TopCashback as they will prevent your order from tracking.

  • If you cancel / return / exchange / modify your completed order, it will no longer be eligible for cashback and will be declined in your account.

What to do and when:

  • Missing cashback claims must be lodged within 90 days of purchase.

Enjoy!

  • So my current Boost plan will expire April 2025. Can i buy the SIM now and activate it then? Read the webpage but didn't see any time limit mentioned about activation.

      Reading would help.

    • Better get in quick before this plan is discontinued on October 21!!

I read that as October 20 is the last day to buy (as opposed to the 21st)?

      • Ignore me I clicked the link

        • The answer is you can still purchase it on the 21st, right?

  • +11

Activation within 30 days is a deal breaker.

I don't want to activate for another 5 months 😫

Seems like it's impossible for most people to actually get this to go through. I've tried more times than I can count using every combination of browser, email, address, ID, payment card. Cannot get through checkout on the Boost website, every time it's error please try again later. TopCashback say it's Boost's problem, Boost says it's TopCashback's problem. Incredibly frustrating. Maybe only upvote this if you actually successfully redeem it.

    • +4

That is a known Boost problem. Pray before hitting the submit button :P

    • +4

I tried all different methods, but switching from a credit card to debit worked for me

  • I’m sure this has been asked heaps of times before and full disclosure I checked the boost faqs people have asked but -

Please can someone kindly tell me if, if you DONT need the bonus data for new customers, somebody on an existing boost network can use this WITHOUT porting out and then back in?

    I’m really sorry to ask!!

      • As specified in my comments, I searched and checked the boost FAQs. I saw the answer was that it’s a no, but it was then stated that the new customer term only applied to the bonus data. Again I realise the repeat questions are annoying, so thank you so much for your response.

    • +1

      FAQ 12
Can this be used to recharge?
No, this is a starter pack. Using as a "recharge" is being dis-allowed and activating first and moving the number may be allowed but is frowned upon and may not be allowed in future depending on how you ask for it.

      • +1

Thank you so much. I figured 👌 I really appreciate you going to the trouble, I was so confused for some reason. My bad!

And yes I was referring to activating and moving the number. Gotcha

        • +2

          No worries bro!

  • +1

Good value but I don't want to cancel my $170 woolies plan

  • +2

Previously had Boost account/service (a year ago). Used the same registered email, name, addressed…etc. Paid using Coles mastercard and there was an error.
Tried again with exactly the same info, but paid using an ING visa debit card. Success.

    • +3

Thanks for that, I've tried with four credit cards and didn't work. Used a debit card and worked all of the sudden.

      • +1

Thankyou, tried everything and saw this so tried debit card instead. Worked!

  • Does this eligible for 28 degree price protection claim?

    • +4

      Lollllll

  • Just a question on this, can I use my old phone number? Even after I ran out of data and the plan has not finished yet.

    • +1

      yes just port your number

      • thank you user27

        • no worries

  • +7

Purchased last time with $60 cashback and activated this morning.
Got $2 Telstra sim from Coles, porting out without recharging and porting back to Boost.
There was a problem verifying my ID with Medicare, but driver's license was fine.
    Took 10 mins total.

    • +1

that is really good plan, thank you for sharing

    • I thought you need to get off telstra network for this, good to know

      • +4

Nope, not needed. FAQ Qu 9 should give you the answer to it :)

    • Did you use your existing boost account to buy and activate?

It seems to fail every time I try to purchase online.

      • +1

        No I didn’t.
You don’t need to login to purchase or activate.

        • thanks, i've tried on iphone and pc, safari, chrome and firefox, fails at checkout, not meant to be for me :(

    • Ported to Telstra, now when activating boost and porting back it says that the number is a boost number (cant complete activation)

  • +1

I feel ripped off, I bought this at $80 cashback on Monday, haha.

    • +3

I bought it for $70, hope that cheers you up!

      • +3

I bought this at $62, hope that cheers you up!

        • +2

I bought at the start — 50 cashback.. this is not fair

        • +2

I didn’t buy it because my services don’t expire until next year, hope that doesn’t cheer you down!

        • I bought 2 at $60, hope that cheers you up!

  • I bought this from the previous deal a few days back but I don't know how to tell if the purchase tracked or not. I have the merchant record as a click but no email or update in the total earnings in my account on TopCashback. What should I be looking out for before lodging a claim?

  • +2

Net sure why Boost is so fond of cashback. Direct discounts would greatly increase sales. Not everyone can play the cashback game. If no issues with the Vodafone network, can wait for the 365 days plan deals: $99/200GB or $99/240GB

    • Agreed - if Boost would just discount it directly even for slightly less than $85 they're offering via Cashback, I'd do it that way and save the waiting for cashback!

    • +6

Cashback comes out of marketing budget not product revenue. All to do with financial reporting

    • Yes but Vodafone! Never, ever again for me. Still if it forces Boost etc to offer a better deal than $300 I hope many go with it.

  • Roughly 12 bucks a month to be on the top-tier network? Great deal!

  • Is it worth waiting for 365GB to go on big sale ? I really want to get this since the price is amazing but 170GB is not much data for one year..

    • only reason they have sale is this plans being discontinued. doubt they’ll do the same for 365

      • 365 was on sale a couple of weeks ago

    • +1

Its funny for me and my bro, We only seem to use around 30-50gbs per year as i have wifi at home and at work. I am always impressed with people who can use so much data, only reason i have these plans is because they are the only ones with Telstra for Prepaid.

  • Hmmm… Bought this at $80. Am I able to return it and get a refund?

    • Don't you mean $180?

      • sry I mean at $80 cashback

  • I've tried couple of times. Each, I get a message asking to ty again later…

    • Use a debit card instead of a credit card

  • +1

Did anybody got through after x- tries?

Tried everything, Visa, Master Card, CC, Debit Card, Microsoft Edge, Chrome, Top Cashback App, Android, Iphone, Web Browser….

It's nut that there is that strange error.

    • +1

Give up, checkout is broken. Half people can get it to work half can’t. I have a feeling if you’ve been a Telstra customer before you can’t checkout

    • Mine finally worked just then using a debit card after trying everything.

  • i would never touch telstra, i have telstra esim and vodafone sim, vodafone always much better than telstra and with the vodafone and optus deal and removal of 3g just watch Vodafone surpass telstra

    • +2

vodafone always much better than telstra

Mobile reception is one of those things where it will be different for different areas. It is misleading to say that Vodafone is always better than Telstra.

with the vodafone and optus deal and removal of 3g just watch Vodafone surpass telstra

I believe that tower sharing deal is only for regional areas. Metro areas will not be affected.

      • that correct, so vodafone covers all metro and outskirts regional but this deal means all the regional towns telstra have it like coober pedy will have access to both networks. This is great because it will force telstra prices down.

    • Yep i was with Boost for years and couldn't even look at ozbargain when i'd visit my parents who live close by. Couldn't listen to podcasts at work. I don't think i ever saw a speedtest above 20Mbps , it was common to see 1-2Mbps every day.

Switched to Optus and i haven't had a single issue with websites not loading or streams not working. Speedtests are always more than the max i ever saw Boost hit.

    • Wait until you travel to the regional area. LoL

      • i have no issue :P iphone satellite :P

  • Boost is asking for login details to purchase. Can I put in my details even though it’ll be activated for my partner?

I couldn’t tell if a different person could activate the sim to the person who is the registered purchaser

    Any thoughts/ ideas?

    • +2

Yes. Purchases are not linked to activations. You can buy a hundred under your dets and use a hundred different IDs to activate each of them. The cashback only checks that the sim had been activated.

  • Any other cheap non-telstra prepaid sim options to port out from boost and port back in?

    • Somewhere above someone commented using a $2 Telstra sim.

    • I think Coles has $2 Amaysim

  • Just to confirm - I can activate this sim beyond 21-October (by 31-Oct for cash back) and port from boost sim > lebara esim to boost sim? Thanks

  • If I activate the physical SIM and switch to eSIM via boost app, would that count as deactivating the sim for cashback purposes?

    • I would keep the physical Sim untill cashback is confirmed and move to esim after that.

  • Very pissed off they are getting rid of this plan.

Also, wondering what headaches there are going to be when trying to activate a sim on a plan that no longer exists because I'd expect ordering today you won't get your sim until 21st+ unless you're lucky. I know it says within 30 days for the cashback, but that's a side issue.

  • i bought 1 sim 2 days ago and trying to buy another yesterday and today, it wont let me. Say "Sorry something went wrong. were sorry but were experiencing technical issues. please try again later.

Is anyone else experiencing this? do i need t o use a different name id when purchasing or something? i need 3 sims for the family.

  • +1

    Wanted to buy 3 SIMS

    First SIM
Did not work with 2 different Credit Cards. Worked with my Debit Card (Bank1).

    Second SIM
Did not work with my Debit Card (Bank1) which I just used to buy First SIM. Worked with Debit Card (Bank 2).

    Third SIM
Did not work with 4 different Debit Cards. Chat with Support. Support suggested to clear cache, blah blah.. Tried with an Alternate Browser. Worked with a Debit Card (Bank 3)

Not sure what kind of IT systems these people are using in 2024! Now I am dreading what kind of service will be provided after the SIMs are activated.

Also, for info. Used SAFARI on my Macbook for First 2 SIMs and then FIREFOX for third SIM on MacBook

    • That's crazy dude
