230

Increased cashback today on 12-month SIMs from Boost. Hopefully Boost drops SIM prices a bit more today for Black Friday, but this is getting back to a good price point.

Conditions:

  1. SIM must be activated within 30 days of purchase, and must not be deactivated until your cashback is payable. If the SIM is deactivated prior, Boost may decline cashback.
  2. Multiple SIM purchases need to be made as separate transactions. If there is more than one SIM in an order, it will result in an untracked purchase and the purchase will be ineligible for cashback.
  3. Cashback is ineligible on eSIMs, recharges, phones, bundles, accessories.
  4. Cashback is ineligible on use of any codes not approved and posted by TopCashback.
  5. Cashback is ineligible on purchase of gift cards and/or use of gift cards for payment.
  6. Cashback is ineligible on purchases made via the retailer's mobile app.

Anyway they are giving the cash back. Then why can they just charge the original amount - cash back amount. Very poor planning

    • It’s a targeted sale. Majority of users don’t use cashback so this way it lowers the price threshold for those truly seeking a low price via more difficult means.

      • Thanks, make sense now

    • Maybe Telstra/Optus wants to protect their full-fee-paying customers & only the keen endure?

Boost (Telstra) reception has been so bad in Melbourne CBD for me. Off to Catch (Optus) I go in 2 weeks!

    • The service quality is poor in many locations. Although I purchased the 12-month plan a few weeks ago, I deeply regret this decision

    • Hmmm. Not good to hear. I'm with Telstra. Wondering if I could expect the same if I move to Boost or do I assume it's like for like 🤷. I've had terrible coverage (Vic, Inner East) from Optus and Vodafone. Telstra has been better.

My CR cashback from August when I ported straight out was approved.

      You're an outlier…IT system aren't perfect.

But, not sure if you want to spread this message because,
1.NOVICE do read your comments &
      2.Nor others are willing to take EXTRA-risk in a NON-transparent money-back system ?

      • Yeah, tracking and payouts work flawlessly for me across all three platforms, so I consider myself fortunate. I take precautions such as only using the CR/SB app, not visiting other websites after clicking through on TCB, disabling AdBlock and any other things that may interfere with cookies.

What do you mean by non-transparent? CR customer support is still alright.

        • As you know, it's the carrier/Boost that has the FINAL-say if they'll pay cash-back-firm/TCB, who then pass-on the money to buyers.

OzBargainers failed money-back claims are littered all over money-back deals…every 3+ posts: seasoned operators too.

Tracking systems is never 100% accurate, eg system crashes, back-up fail, tracking fail: ANY-sides etc & when there's any failed money-back claims, buyers are given a 'generic response'. Buyers are NOT provided with evidence from cash-back-firm/TCB &/or carrier/Boost as proof. This's the NON-transparency I'm referring to.

I follow similar caution as others, EACH time I buy via money-back deals, I'm aware that I'm taking some risk & that there're things I've NO control over: their tracking systems.

Despite my 100% success thus far, any money-back claims that are yet to return to my bank are at risk: ~ 90d or 3 round of purchases.

          • @ab c: SB used to reject my claims all the time until this year. A few months ago, two of my Everyday Mobile postpaid cashbacks on TCB were rejected but I disputed without TA's help and managed to get them paid out (but never again!).

  • "and must not be deactivated until your cashback is payable" - this kills the deal for the 1-month ones

    • Deactivated means removed from the database as “you are the owner”, that occurs 6 straight months after no recharge at all. Deactivate does NOT mean out of credit (28days SIMs)

      • you can ask them to deactivate sooner than 6 months if you want (so don't do that)

  • Anyone know what are the expiry date on these Sims?

    • Cash back won’t count unless you activate in 30 days, so 30 days?

      • Thanks, good point. My current annual sim doesn't expire for a while so don't need this deal.

  • I've seen previous posts that you can port number to another $2 Sim and transfer back. Is this still possible while still getting cashback?

  • Dang, got the Topcashback deal yesterday where it was $47 back on the $300 Sim.

Anyone know if Topcashback will bump up my cash back?

Sorry does this mean the $365 sim which is now $320 will equate to $255 if the cash back of $65 comes through?

  • How long did it take to get tracked? I bought one more than 24 hours ago and still hasn’t tracked :(

  • Hey guys there is also a $300 boost sim on ebay, suppose to include 265g data and 12 Month expiry.
    $238 with PLUS120 ebay code

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/274053085888

  • Anyone know how long it takes for approval? TCB doesn't reflect that on their site.

Furthermore can I assume that I can't swap to esim until it's paid?

  • Too bad can't go eSIM to get the CB

Gone are the days of Boost being a good deal I think (even without cashback). Within last year or so they changed packages and pricing now its ~$20 per month on 12 month plans when we have cashback discounts. :(

Any recommendations on alternatives or is this still the best deal?

  • Can you recieve sms overseas with this sim ? I am going to Vietnam and Thailand.

  • Crap Boost website wouldn't let me check out despite trying many times on different browsers and keep saying they are experiencing technical issues. Missed out as the cashback ended. Does anyone know of any other Boost deals currently available?

    • +1

Had the exact same thing happen to me. Super frustrating. Ended up buying a SIM off eBay for $10 more, but at least the discounted price is locked in unlike cashback.

      • Yeah damn it was crap, right as the deal was ending. Probably works now after the cashback ended. Any chance you can post the ebay link for me? Thanks heaps!
