Let’s see if JB Hi-Fi refuses to match this deal. If they do, then they’ve officially turned dodgy.

    • +1

They accepted mine when I showed them OW match

    • +3

They are still refusing to match the deal and the reason mentioned is that their manager told not to match for this item… lol. Just tried few mins ago.

      • I eventually got them to price match. They were saying it’s different models

      • +10

Then The ACCC needs to look into their dodgy price match policy.

      • +1

They finally matched as I tried again n throwed all the links of HN, OW and Bunnings. HN has back in stock btw.

      • That particular rep might not have looked into the details. He must have thought your price match request is same as the but 1 get 1 that they were denying to match.

do you need to pay for a subscription or anything? Can i use it like the wyze cams and it just saves to sd card and don't have to pay for a subscription to use like ring.

    • +4

Thankfully these ones you can put a micro SD card in.

    • +3

No need to pay for subscription.
Yes, can just save to micro SD card on unit.

      • sweet, buying now. thanks mate

      • Do They do that thing where they broadcast over an IP? ChatGPT says it's called ONVIF ?

Can I connect to these with opencv is what I really want to know.

      • Hi,
Thanks for the info, but could you clarify for me that do I need to pay for a subscription if I would like to view the recording through an app when I am away?

    • +2

https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/881239 says that they are viewable via an RTSP stream - e.g. a program like VLC will do it.

    • -1

There's an open source ROM available for them if you for Google it.

    • I have connected them to a NAS so all recording goes there, or as mentioned a micro Sd also does the trick

    • Is the safest way to use this is on guest wifi and block internet access?

  • Does anyone know if its easy to replace the standard inclused power cable with a longer one?

    • yes. standard barrel jack on the c200s. i expect c210 to be the same

      • Cheers. Can you just use an extension cord for it or replace it with a new longer one? Or do you need to be mindful of the rating of the power cable etc?

        • +1

These cameras (and pretty much all cameras) run off low voltage DC. You can buy long DC to DC barrel jack extension cables but in my experience they have too much resistance to reliably run some cameras. The extension cables run old analogue cameras fine but when I tried on my Imou Ranger 2C camera it didn't work on the standard power supply. I upgraded to something beefier but over time the camera started being flakey and the only way to fix it was to shorten the extension cable. Mind you I was using a 10mtr extension.

I don't know how fussy these cameras are but worthwhile considering if you can't run an AC extension lead instead

          • @0 0 0: Thanks for sharing your experience mate. I'd need about 3.5m or cable, so hopefully that will work. Do you think it would make a difference if you use a new cable vs an extension cable?

            • @Rhys925: You can always use your own wires, with DC jacks on either end. Very easy. Just gotta search "screw terminal dc jack"

I actually happen to have a 5m DC jack extension cable I picked up recently. It has between 1 and 1.5ohms of resistance. That means if the camera is trying to draw an amp, the voltage getting to the camera will drop from 12v to 10.6v. Easy to see how that would cause instability.
A cable made from say 20awg speaker wire (resistance of 3.5ohms per 100m) with the screw connectors would have a resistance of 0.25ohms, some 4-6 times less the premade cable, meaning the voltage will only drop to 11.75v. Well within spec.

Really depends on the camera though. Better cameras with more features will draw more power leading to greater voltage drop which leads to instability, while cheaper cameras that use less power might not cause any hassles.

Edit: looks like these use 9v 0.6amp power supplies. Weird

            • @Rhys925: What do you mean? You can either:

              1. Use a normal 240v extension lead and the standard power brick included
              2. Use a DC extension cable with the included power brick
              3. Cut the cable on the standard power brick and connect some wire to extend the cable

No. Dont even have an Ethernet port.

@lawyerz: Not very nice of you to call him a D***head. He was just asking a question.

  • No bunnings near me have stock, and i dont have one pass. Luckily my local Harveys Normal have stock. Finnally i got one after missing out since 6 months ago deal and last few deals

  • Any recommendations for sd cards for these?

    • I went for SanDisk max endurance since i imagine they might get a bit hot in direct sunlight

  • -1

This seems a significantly better deal for 2 cameras than the recent eufy Security Solocam S340 that got a lot of attention but cost $218 for one camera.

    Why is this so cheap?

Should I cancel the Solocam order and get this?

    • +3

i think these are designed to be used indoors

    • +4

your comparing outdoor cameras to indoor cameras.

  • Has anyone been able to run these 24/7 continuous recording?

  • As it connects to WiFi, can I set it up to connect to the network and record onto PC rather than sd card?

Has anyone used these outdoors (but under cover)?

  • order got cancelled

    • They better not pull that stunt on me.

    • my is cancelled too, refunding warehouse :(

  • In case someone with Onepass membership expecting free delivery:

Do you have legitimate concerns with the product or is this just a tinfoil hat neg?

    • Nobody's fault but yourself if you can't google basic security measures

    • If concerned don't leave them on, We leave cameras on indoors when we are not home.

  • Order cancelled.

  • Mine was just delivered, on a Saturday lol. Btw I went in to buy one from Bunnings before ordering on one pass, the lady was friendly and said they were put aside for click and collect but offered me 2x Orion cams for $49 (BOGOF basically). I got them too so I can compare. Give the ones I don’t want to my folks.

  • Dang. Bought a twin pack from Amazon the other day for $59. I am impressed though, have it in the roofspace for possum alerts!
