    ATL appears to be $134.

    Close, but no cigar.

    • +14

$1.70 - Just enough for a 7Eleven coffee and a taste of victory!

      • +6

Whoops. For some reason I thought your price was 136 or something. This appears to be the ATL 😁

  • +1

is this one good for teams meeting and calls?

      • Really no mic??? Thats a surprise

        • +1

yeah not sure myself but looked at the description section and it says "Dual Noise Canceling Microphones for Crystal-Clear Calls"
Can anyone else confirm if this is true or not??

          • +3

@wol1: Of course has mic…. not the boom mic but just small mic. Just check youtube reviews…

          • +6

@wol1: It has a mic. I use it all the time for work calls. Does a fair decent job too.

      • +8

Incorrect. So incorrect. Aeropex, openrun, openrun pro, and openrun pro 2 all have mics

    • No, these are meant for using while exercising.

They'll work to take calls, but shouldn't be your first choice unless you plan on taking calls while you are running/exercising.

      • +3

I use OpenRun Pro all the time around the house and at work for calls. They're fine for it. Additionally they work while exercising.

    • +1

I have the Aeropex when the brand was still called Aftershokz, and the mic is okay. Serviceable, but I wouldn't rely on it. Some people say I sound buzzy, or tinny, compared to my webcam mic.

    • +1

What you need for calls and work use is the opencomm 2. It has a boom arm for the microphone, meaning people actually hear you well.
I swear by them. Best headphones I’ve used with my phone (and I’ve tried so many)

    • I have one with the boom mic and it's perfect for calls.
I stuck on a small foam pad over the mic - works great outdoors even when windy

  • I think I saw a $10 sign up discount too. Must resist buying another set of headphones…….

    • +1

      Doesn't stack.

  • +3

There's no competition for pool swimming music. The openswim pro 2 are perfect gym all rounders. Hopefully they fixed the battery swelling issue on the first iteration

    • I was just looking into this.. what timing to make a hole in my wallet. How do most people deal with the need to download and upload MP3s onto it?

I've been on spotify for the longest time, I don't think I have any MP3 files anymore. It'd be nice if I could download my spotify playlists easily.

      • +1

The opposite, i never paid spotify or any streaming services. I loads mp3

      • +3

The issue is water very effectively blocks bluetooth signal. Every time you duck your head you will loose signal. I DIYed my own bluetooth headphones using a bluetooth 3.5mm dongle & I had to put the bluetooth dongle on the top of my cap to keep it mostly out of the water for it to be usable.

I eventually just sealed a mp3 player & used that.

      • +1

If you google spotify to MP3 then you can find loads of websites that will kind of download the MP3s for you. They rely on other music services such as YouTube and Deezer to work. It mostly works. If you only want it for swimming or phone less runs then just get the cheaper openswims

        • +1

Oh interesting. I saw reviews of the pros being better for swimming than the previous version? I'd be down for saving money though. I would be using this purely for swimming since age has destroyed my knees.

Downloading MP3s feel so nostalgic. Where is LimeWire at?

          • +2

@hhuy837: Soulseek has taken the throne for music these days

      • +1

My Shokz are just a headset, ie you can't download anything to them but link them to your phone, computer, etc.

I use mine all day on Teams with no issues and they are great whilst walking in the city or cycling as you can still be aware of the surroundings so do not get hit by cars, trams, etc

    • +1

They don't have an openswim 2 Pro yet right? (seems to be like just openrun pro 2)

  • +1

If only somehow the band can be adjustable so its not dangling it will be percect. Like flush to each person head/hair.

    • +4

That's what the "mini" version is for.

They're essentially the same, just with a slightly shorter band.

There is a measurement that you can do to tell if the mini will fit you.

  • -7

I dont know how why they call themself bone conducting when people sit next to you can hear (slight) sound. I mean if truly bone then it ill be 100pct no sound leaks.

This is a tiny speaker headset.

    • +5

You seem to misunderstand what bone conducting actually entails.

  • +1

Thanks, good prices on the Open Run Pro

  • +2

I currently have the Openrun pro, but have had the openrun & aeropex. While the pro are advertised as having the best sound quality (not sure as I rarely use them for music), I find they are much worse for use in noisy environments, traffic, etc. The other models were much better in this regard, with the aeropex being the best…

Wondering if anyone else has this issue ?, as I am considering buying a pair of openrun's for this reason (or possibly trying another brand) ??…

    • I ended up getting the open runs a while back because all the reviews said they were louder at the same volume settings and they're also more waterproof. I don't get why they made the pros less waterproof for something that's designed to get sweaty.

  • @Gravitech do you have a deal for the Opencomm?
    Thanks.

    • +22

Hey Averell, thank you for asking. We do! See here

However, to be transparent and in the spirit of OzBargain there are few sellers undercutting us on this model online so as much as we would love to service you, I would recommend comparing prices first as you may find it cheaper.

      Best wishes,
      Travis

      • Thank you.

  • +1

I have tested a few Shokz, most of them sound OK for the purpose they serve, but Shokz OpenFit (not Air version). This one actually sounds VERY GOOD. It's very similar to the BOSE SoundSport. Since they sit ON your ears and not inside, you don't even realize you have earbuds on most of the time (Super comfy + lets you use 1 bud only, so its great for those listening to music/podcast whilst wanting to keep focus on their surrounding.

  • +4

    Before buying measure your head.

For many adults you will find that the mini are actually the perfect fit (yes, even for adult males) which then means less dangling cord before the head.

    https://shokz.com.au/blogs/news/openrun-vs-openrun-mini-find…

These are awesome for running though. Can't see myself ever moving back to traditional earphones for exercise.

    • Have you try using it for team or zoom meetings in the office? Will it filter the noise from other people talking around you and just passing your voice to the meeting?

      • No, I use mine solely for exercising.

I use other headphones for work calls.

      • I use these a lot for teams and work calls. They are not noise cancelling but not blocking your ears means I don't find myself shouting when I'm in the office taking a call.

They're also in the 'okay' or 'good enough' mic quality, nothing amazing but not terrible either.

        • Okay. When the usb c model is on sale at around $100 ill get one to try.

  • So many options, which one to choose for a noob? Looking for bone conduction headphones for running.i assume openrun version and mini version if my head fits?

    • Spot on. Can't go wrong with either.

    • +3

Can't go wrong. And the difference between openrun, pro, and pro 2 is smaller than most ppl suggests especially in real world outdoor use. I have all 3.

      • thanks for this, got the openrun mini

  • Whats the sound quality on the Openrun Pro vs the (not on sale) Openrun Pro 2?

    • Don’t buy these for sound quality full stop.
Any earbud (my pick would be the jabra elite active 8) with a hear-through setting will do a much better job at everything these are meant for.
The only specific reason I would use the OpenRuns for would be if I was uncomfortable having buds in my ears.

    • I've got both. Tbh, the biggest difference for me is that at max volume, you can feel the vibration from the openrun but much less so from the pro 2 because of the hybrid model which has traditional speakers alongside bone conduction. The sound leakage from the pro 2 is far higher due to the air conduction.

The sound quality to me was negligible in real world outdoor use.

  • +4

I'm still holding out for the Openrun Pro 2 mini to be on sale.
I really dislike proprietary cables and only the Openrun Pro 2 and Openmove have USB C.

    • DM me if you find a deal. I will do the same!

      • Move is on sale on amazon

    • +2

I'm not a big fan of the proprietary charger either. exact reason why i just ignore olight products.

For the shokz however, i found that these are pretty neat: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007268951713.html

You can probably find em for cheaper depending on the style you want. I have heaps lying around (e.g. keychain, work, car, etc.) the neat thing about it is that it's magnetic so i can hang my keys on the fridge. i think magnetic charging in this scenario given how often i use the headphones has been fine day to day use.

    • +1

I just pulled the trigger on the Openrun Pro 2 Mini's using this 35% cashback deal on Woolworths Everyday Marketplace from Shopback

      • Did it track?
I'll do the same this afternoon.

        • Still waiting for tracking confirmation….. 🤞

          • +1

@end user: Just placed my order and it has tracked for $111.65 cashback.
Thanks for letting me know about the deal.

            • @Alexxx: Still haven't got my tracking email. I'm nervous now

  • +1

yep - I'm a prospective Openrun Pro 2 customer just waiting for a special price and I'm buying

  • I have the open run pro 2.. they are very good for listening and talking. Not good in noisy environments (i work in a canteen with powerful extractor fans on all the time) as they easily get drowned out.

    • +1

How do they go with earplugs?
I would use earplugs with my old openmove when mowing the lawn and they worked great. Sound quality was improved with the earplugs and I could lower the volume quite a bit as well.

      • +1

Great with earplugs. I pop the plugs in and mow. It works fine. Plugs out, no chance

      • I mean at that point you might as well get a XM5, airpods earbuds or something?

        • If it's something that I would normally use earplugs for then active noise cancelling isn't enough.

I've got various noise cancelling buds and headphone which are great for commuting and sounds quality but don't cut it for things that are really noisy like using power tools or the lawn mower.

          • @Alexxx: I haven't tried it but I'm surprised to hear earplugs + bone conduction earphones are better than ANC earbuds. Interesting!

    • Have you had a chance to compare them to non-pro? or pro 1?

      • +1

I have all 3. They're really not that big of leap to me. Any one of them do their jobs well enough. Marginal gains at best I'd say.

  • +1

Thanks.. was just about to pull the trigger on OpenRun Pro from Amazon.. but this saves another 10% so I'm super happy.. :)

    • +1

Thank you for your support! It is truly appreciated :)
      Have a good night.
      Cheers,
      Travis

      • +1

A week later and still no progress on sending the item out? I've sent through a support request. Auspost tracking comes back with error or pending. Is this normally this slow from your store or you out of stock?

  • Does anyone know the difference between the OpenRun and the OpenMove? I've searched online but all I can seem to find is the OpenRun are more comfortable? It's a big price difference if that's all and the cheaper OpenMove have USB-C charging vs a proprietary cable.

    • +2

The IP rating and battery life are better in the Openrun. You can also get them in the mini size which might be a better fit (see if you can find somewhere to try them).

  • +1

The best thing about these is they're one sturdy lightweight piece. No two earbuds to lose. Just one thing you barely notice is sitting around your ears and round the back of your head. The sound is adequate and the mic is fine for what they are meant for, and they're reliable. Mostly podcasts for me, but also phone calls and sometimes music. For music you're better off with something else, but these can still entertain you.

I absolutely abuse mine (OpenRun Pro), wear them in the shower, take them shopping (yes I remembered to dress after the shower), wear them riding a bike, wear them gardening, whack them against the wall to knock moisture/sweat off if it covers the mic/sound holes, wear them all day at work, and they're always fine. Don't even bother with the case anymore unless travelling.

  • +1

what do folks think about the proprietary charging cable? has it been a hassle? I have all devices charging using USB-C atm and the only thing stopping me from getting these is the need to carry its own charging cable which if I lose will also be hard to replace if I am travelling.

    • It's slightly annoying to have a proprietary charging cable, but it's just an old fashioned USB cable that I swap with another USB cable on a charger when I need to charge the OpenRuns. Which is not that often, because they really hold a charge.

    • The first pair I bought came with two chargers, but I think its just one now. I find the magnet nicer to use than USB, and arent bothered having a dedicated cable type.. I keep one plugged in at work and home, and the battery lasts a while either way + charges quickly.

It would be annoying if I was travelling, but fine for my boring routined lifestyle.

    • You can get aftermarket adapter's for USB C to the Shokz magnetic charger.

    • I hate non-USBC too but this is a cheap fix.
      $10 for 2 - https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B0C1XPFPGF/

  • Didn't know I needed an the Shokz OpenRun until this post!
    Pulled the trigger…

    Thanks for making me poor.

    • Trading dollars for decibels, worth it if you ask me!

  • @Gravitech are you stocking anymore Mini's in black?

    • Hi SaveMeDollars, yep, back in stock now.
      Thank you,
      Travis

  • Pro minis out of stock? :(

  • Hi! Buying for hubby.. He does a lot of running.

Are these comfortable and good for running?

Will they last when they get covered in sweat every second day?

Give me a yay or nay for purchase please ozbargain runners out there!

OR other recommendations welcome. Thanks in advance 😃🙏

    • As long as he isn't running on a busy road it will be fine! Check the measurements of the mini and standard first!

      • Thanks for your reply @Robot16 It probably is busy at times - we are on the Gold Coast..

What will happen if the road is busy?

      • @Robot16 Also thanks for tip on measurement.. He prob has a small head for a guy, so mini would be better.

Will await reply about running on a busy road before purchasing

        • +1

          No problems!

          I have a mini too.

For me when I'm on a busy road I can't really hear my podcasts, music may he different. Even in a loud gym hearing a podcast isn't the best for me.

For a normal jog or walk on a normal road it's okay. I have a couple of main roads near me. When I'm there I can't hear well.

I'm sure ur hubby will appreciate your effort.

          • @Robot16: Thank you Robot16!
I appreciate all your advice 😎👌

  • Never had bone conduction headphones, how do you guys find them?

I'd always figured they'd be nice for something just sitting there not jammed in your ear for some light tunes or podcasts while training but still able to talk to people etc.

    • They shine where you are doing an activity (primarily running for me) and still chatting to others, I've found them quite good for the office too. For gym it'll be okay depending on how noisy your gym is and they're not good when out in areas with high traffic noise or construction.

      • +1

Yeah I have some nice inner ear ones that are good when I want to drown out noise.

What you've described is basically what I was wanting them for, tempting!

        • +1

I lalmost bought this but then i remember i need noise cancelling headphone to block noises from people talking in the office so i can focus haha

  • Finally bit the bullet!

  • Any recommendations for cycling? I take it run pro would be the ideal pick here

  • My order is still still showing as Parcel Order Created and still waiting to send. The date for this is showing as the 26 Nov. Anyone received their order yet?
