Breville The Dual Boiler BES920BSS Coffee Machine $1079.20 Delivered @ Breville

2040
BrevRACV20

Probably the lowest it will ever be moving forward thanks to website Black Friday discount double stacking with a secret code.

Thanks to interstellar for the code! https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/879377#comment-15972236

This is one of those rare moments in Australian consumer history where we actually have advantages compared to overseas (since Breville is an Australian company). People in places like the US happily pay $1500+ USD as RRP for these machines, the same price they pay for equally priced Italian machines. This is due to the feature set and what you get in this machine just being so good. If you're in the market to drop ~$1k on a coffee machine, this really is a no-brainer.

Those holding out for the sub $1k heydays I wouldn't wait. That's based on an old RRP we're likely to never see again after they updated/improved the machine and cleared out the old stock

Would recommend stretching a small amount more for a DF64: https://df64coffee.com/en-au/products/df64-gen-2-single-dose…

Most of the comparable grinders in that price range (from international reviews) are much more expensive for Aussies 😓

        • +2

DF64 is 580 on amazon - I am waiting another week to see if there will be a drop.

        • +2

Eureka Mignon as well. Smaller burrs than the DF64

    • check out my previous post on the starseeker grinder, its still going strong and produces a lovely cup with close to no retention. Workflow is a bit of a pain but if your willing to single dose its great.

    • +1

Depends on how much you want to spend, you've got some good cheaper options mentioned here like the DF64 (single dose, meaning you weigh each dose) and Eureka Mignon (hopper, but you deal with grind retention). I use the Fiorenzato All Ground Sense with this machine and it's an amazing combo (hopper, very little grind retention, very fluffy grinds, and weighs 18g of grind every time, I have a scale and it's never off more than 0.1g).

Top cash back tracked at $160.99 for me too!

    • Same here!

    • +1

Isn’t top cash back 8% for Breville? How did you get that much off?

    • Bought. My current bes920 steam fuse died 3 weeks ago (and I don't know when I'll get around to fixing it). 10yrs it lasted, and generally I neglected it. I did replace a few rings, the pump, the solenoid valve and maybe other things over the years.
Based on the cashback report above, I figured I would sign up to TopCashback and see if I could get the extra cash. Used the random referral button. Whoever @baldytc is, they got my referral click-cash.
(although I tend to do something wrong with cash backs, so probably won't be tracked)
      .

  • damn! good price!

  • Strangely Ive got $251 Amex cashback tracked. Supposed to be 12.5% which means a $2k purchase. Weird but hopefully it sticks

    • how long did that take to track? Thanks

      • About 30m

Finally cracked. I had one many moons ago - and it died the same way as so many others.

Switched back to a 15yo Rancilio Silvia. Good, reliable - but lots of human variability involved in the coffee making. Mainly because I'm THAT human.

Anyway… All the talk of fixing the most serious design deficiencies has got me to the point of semi-retiring the Silvia to a garage shelf (just in case, you know) - this price has nudged me over the edge.

Thanks to all for insights, pluses and minuses. And a bit of ratbagery. It all helps (or, at least entertains).

I've had the original BES900 since 2013, and it's still going strong with regular servicing, a replaced O-ring, and a new pump. However, it’s starting to show its age with water dripping from the wand, so I’m considering replacing it if I find the right deal.

I understand that using the discount code and Amex's '$50 back on $500' offer, I can bring the price down to $1029.20. But I’m a bit confused about the other cashback options. I’ve never used MyAmexShop before—has anyone successfully received the advertised 12.5% cashback from them? I saw a comment about tracking but no clarity on whether it works with the discount code.

Similarly, for TopCashBack, their terms state that "Cashback is ineligible on use of any codes not approved and posted by TopCashback," yet people mentioned tracking $160.99 cashback, which is closer to 12% instead of the listed 8%. Can anyone share their experiences or insights with these cashback companies?

Just because it tracks doesn't mean you'll get the money

    • Generally means they can reject the payout. As in, treat is as potential bonus but don't count of it going through.

Also as per the amex shop:

      "You must not
Use offer codes or discount codes provided by third parties (including from the store or other websites)."

    • just replace the steam valve? super easy to swap over

but agree - at this price, probably worthwhile jumping on it and have it last you another 10 years

  • The code also works on the Oracle machine if you don't have or don't want a seperate grinder

  • Ordered, thanks for sharing the code

  • bit the bullet, my current breville has been dieing last few months (7 years old x 4 times a day). Was looking at 2K machines but this is a great deal.

Also $160 cash back tracked… not sure if ill end up getting it

FYI, Mine is in its second repair for catastrophic failure in the first 2 years. It is the 'fixed' model as well.

    • That's why I bought the Bambino Plus - have had it for 5 years and no problems whatsoever, makes 4 coffees a day. Too many parts to go wrong on these bigger machines

    • What issues did it have?

      • Leaking steam boiler twice and then triac board failure causing over heating.

Just got my replacement unit and it has new packaging. I may have been sold old back stock when I bought the unit in december 2022.

  • +1

Bought a Bambino not the plus - beacause i like to froth my own milk

  • Let's all reach out, moving forward.

  • Bought 10 will flog these off for 2K to family members

  • If I hadn't decided on a gaggiunio build for my bambino plus upgrade I'd have pulled the trigger on this

    • Got a link to that build? Sounds interesting.

Some info on the changes Breville have made to the BES920, BES980 and BES990 models as of mid 2022.

    https://coffeesnobs.com.au/forum/equipment/brewing-equipment…

Maybe the poster is correct and the changes explain the higher prices these machines are selling for now.

Paid about $800 a few years ago and loved it and the BDB was my gateway drug into coffee. Great starter machine!

    • Yes same here, but I thought it was going to be a starter machine but it just keeps going and going.
One day I might upgrade to a La Marzocco Mini, one day

  • Out of stock :(, anyone know if this will be made available again at this price?

    • If it comes back in stock before the promotion ends then it will be.

    • You should able to get it Goodguy with topcash cashback $1098

  • Can you get your coffee shots over 30 seconds with these?

    • Yes

  • +2

Goodguys 18% cashback from TCB brings this down to $1,098.00. Stack this on top of $35 TCB referral link (+$10 sign up bonus) and $20 cash back through Commbank Yello brings this down to $1,033.00.

    • Which thing do I use through CBA Yello? Can't figure it out.

      • CBA App > CBA YELLOW (bottom right corner) > OFFERS > $20 Cashback when you spend $200 or more at The Good Guys > ACTIVATE.

Also check that you’re eligible for the CBA Yello benefits: https://www.commbank.com.au/commbank-yello

        • Thanks for the info, that's exactly where I had gone but they aren't listed for me.

  • Anyone know if the Black Sesame colour been discontinued? Haven't seen this available for a while.

  • Back in stock and, surprise surprise, the (overly exposed) discount code is no longer valid.

  • It says to me code is no longer valid.

  • they killed the coupon … hope they dont cancel orders….

  • +1

Still waiting for a confirmation of shipment. Bit worried that orders will be cancelled.

    • I'm hopeful since they said they ship within 3 business days…

      • They just made an Auspost shipping label :)

  • +1
